After trying to walk into three other top-rated restaurants in downtown Bellingham on a Friday night in June with a party of five, The Admiralty Lounge had an open table. Initially going for just a drink, we stayed for dinner. We're glad we did. Here's our experience. 1) Food: We started with the salmon dip, which everyone really loved. It comes with little toasted bread slices. The menu is heavy seafood, but there are a few options without. Walking in hungry, I ordered the deviled eggs, Caesar salad, and the shrimp (all small plates). Each dish was full of flavor and delicious! 2) Drinks: They have a robust menu. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I ordered the Spa Day. I don't love it. It's mainly ice and not sweet at all. It wasn't tart, just muted. I then ordered a local raspberry cider, which was very tasty. (It's dry cider.) 3) Service: Phenomenal. Everyone was top notch- efficient and personable.

A nautical-themed masterpiece. May be the most creative and gourmet menu offerings in Bellingham and Whatcom County. I've had the best experiences and conversations here. The open mic night brings all of the greatest talent out of the woodwork. The place is ultra comfortable. The service is outstanding. The cuisine and libations are unmatched. This is easily my all-time favorite place to eat and drink.

Fantastic service with knowledgeable staff and fantastic atmosphere. The vibe is warm and retro and the place is spotless. The drinks are well made and the one food item I tried, the deviled eggs, were accompanied with flavors that made them pop. This is a great place to pop into before or after a show next door or a great place to stop for a whiskey from their extensive collection!

In short: A cool bar in a vintage space with some historic flair in the decor, great cocktails, and a really comforting menu. In long: It shares a roof with the Mount Baker Theater, which is great on show days if you have tickets, and probably less slammed on most other days. It fronts out on Commercial, and the staff seem to have all they can do without even knowing who's playing or whether there's a show. I've been here only on a show day, but this seems like a very good sign that they're just always busy. We wandered in half an hour before a show was set to start in the building, and scored seats on a genuinely comfortable vintage couch at the back of the bar. There's old brick, high windows, and some wood on the walls. Look at the very top of the wooden walls--same wood, but much, MUCH lighter at the top. Probably decades of cigarette smoke soaked into the old wood. Not a trace of smoke scent in the air, though, so I LOVE this little detail. Staff were super friendly from the host station to the bar to the servers. Everybody's enjoying their shifts, and drinks fly out quickly. Nobody right before the show was eating, and we had just come from a light dinner. So I will vouch for the deviled eggs (three halves, very light and airy yolks, tons of interesting seasonings and flavors) but can't speak to anything else. I will soon enough, though. Lots of nice touches on their menu and we're eager to come back and check it out. We had great luck with cocktails and the wine was fine. I think the bottles of red on the counter might get lightstruck here so maybe still with refrigerated wines or cocktails. Prices were fair and they were great about getting a room full of people out the door for showtime. It was just a quick visit for a drink, and we ended up oohing and aahing over the menu and messaging friends to plan a return visit. What a great find at the absolute last minute before the show.

Came last night for the first time, it's walking distance from my work and it worked out perfectly since I worked late. The service was great and my martini was delish but they were out of titos which is my go to so I chose grey goose instead. We enjoyed the Ceasar salad the dressing was perfect the deviled eggs were great but why give just 3 and not 4 ? Like where did the other half go ? We were very puzzled by this. The bubble and squeek I think it's called was just OK it was like a mushroom hash honestly..that was the one I'd never get again. We had clam chowder that was yummy with lots of clams some in shell some not. I used to come many times when it was hundred north I love this spot the big windows it's fun to people watch while dining here. All in all it was decent next time I want to get the beef cheeks those sounded delightful

My favorite lounge in Bellingham! The chef focuses on a seasonal, small selection of delicious cuisine. Servers are professional, knowledgeable, and aim to make your experience fantastic. The atmosphere is chill and inviting.

Great location but the food was underwhelming for the cost. I would not recommend this place.

The decor was fun, we took up the tables in the space themed room for a private party feel. There main room had wooden tables that had a vintage school vibe- great for smaller groups or couples. There's plenty of street parking but the stairs leading up to The Orion does make it less accessible to some folks. The night I came here, I only took shots that the best man of the wedding party bought for everyone - so not much to review there. The prices of their cocktails were a few dollars off from being cheap at $7-9. I did have a sip of the cucumber cocktail and the cucumber taste was very strong- I liked it! I was really surprised by the food options here! Without the food at The Orion, who knows what my hangover after a weekend of wedding drinking would've been?! They have various hot dogs, including vegan options! I got the trash dog and it is every drunk person's dream dog. They also had toppings to customize your dog- relish, mustards (all different types!), onions, ketchup, etc. The ratio of hotdog to bun was bread heavy and they had a water jug right next to the front door- greats points for the Orion on balancing out the negative affects of alcohol. The night we came in was a Sunday and the bartender was a one man show. He checked IDs, made food and drinks! Service was a little slow because of that, but overall a great experience at The Orion!

They have a nice selection of taps (including more than just beer), some vintage video games, and offer live music regularly. On our most recent visit, we found one of our fave local musicians, Michael Dayvid, playing and managed to snag a cozy seat in the front row. We sipped our pints (I got an amber, Dude got an IPA) and enjoyed the show - right after a rousing game of Pac Man, of course. This is large space, so there's seating in the back if you don't want to be front row for the music. The service is friendly, too. Parking can be a little challenging, as it's only street parking, but it's not too bad. In a town that has a lot of breweries, but could use a few more cozy taphouses, Corner Taphouse fills a niche (especially in the Fairhaven area). I hope they continue to thrive!

I was happy to see steamed clams on the menu. I grew up eating fresh steamed seafood for dinner, so battered fried seafood that is more common here hasn't really grown on me yet. To me fried seafood is a fancy version of chicken nuggets. I loved the clams, so light but bland. The sauce is full of umami flavor, drizzled with some fresh lemon juice, it was like a summery beachy afternoon in a bowl. I could easily dip a loaf of toast with it if I had one. The clams were fresh and meaty, nothing to complain about with this dish. My partner had the grilled cheese, and he said it was mid. He's vegetarian, and I don't like cheese, so I didn't bother to try any of his meal to do my own fact check. The staff were friendly too. Overall, this is a nice place to grab lunch when visiting Bellingham.

I get that the spinach and tomato are meant to be cool, but the poached egg and hollandaise should at least be warm--kind of the whole point. On the flip side, the Black Cat breakfast (bacon + waffle) was delicious, and the Croque Madame (Croque Monsieur with a fried egg) was chef's kiss. Only note there--fries under the sandwich instead of on the side made things a little soggy. Coffee was solid, but we never got a refill, and same story with water. Once the food hit the table, service basically disappeared. Atmosphere is great--cozy, classic Fairhaven vibe--but overall service was very slow.
