What a great little taco shop. We came in during happy hour, not super crowded on a Saturday. Our server was quick with helping out and suggesting things. We got the guac and chips, some ranch water and beer off the happy hour menu. All the tacos looked amazing. We had the carne asada, pork belly and a couple of fish tacos. Wanted to order more but we're already pretty satisfied with what we ordered so will have to come back to try other options! We happened to be in Bellingham to check out some kayaks at "Nucanoe", and we needed dinner before our 3 hour ride home. We landed on Black Sheep. The menu, ambience and server were all awesome. The menu offers something for everyone and they also have a happy hour. We all enjoyed and assortment of tacos along with some fundido as an appetizer. Four stars - Good We went here after hiking at Oyster Dome. They had the windows open in the restaurant, so I was happy to have my jacket. Our server was nice. And overall, the food was good. Great place! I had their small salad--it was huge!!! I thought they accidentally gave me a large. And it was sooooo flavorful and chockful of delicious things. I asked my bartender/server what else might go with it, and he recommended that I get a couple of tacos--by accident I chose his two favorites: one was cod; the other, pork belly. Both fantastic. Black sheep is a super cute trendy taco spot! I really like the layout and airyness of the space. We hit their happy hour and went for the guacamole and some tacos. I don't know if I ended up with a bunch of jalapeno seeds in the guac or what but it was very very spicy (I can handle my spice) and I had to drink like 4 glasses of water and my beer to release the fire from my tongue. lol. Our server was so lovely, and we were seated right away. She helped us make our beer selections and had a great sense of humor. My friend really enjoys this place but I found it to be a bit expensive and that the meat itself didn't have a whole lot of flavor. On our way back from Blaine we stopped in Bellingham for a late lunch. Black Sheep was the top recommendation and we decided to try it. We got Chicken Tinga & Soyrizo tacos, and Chorizo Nachos. The nachos were amazing, the best nachos I have ever had. We loved the tacos. I then also got a Baja Fish taco, it was very good. This is by far and away one of the best restaurants in Bellingham and surrounding areas. I was transported back to CA bay area, where hipsters run the bar scene. The server was cool but very helpful and attentive. I had an incredible mocktail and two tacos. The mocktail was a Pina colada inspired liquid drink, that was not too sweet and absolutely heavenly. The tacos had great flavor, but something was lost in translation in the assembly, the meat was a tad overcooked. The restaurant was quite dim, giving it much more of a bar vibe. We went to this place for their tacos and loved them. What stood out was that the vegetarian tacos were great too and maybe even better than the non vegetarian ones. We tried mushroom kale, Potato, Chicken Tinga and Fish tacos; mushroom kale one was the best out of the 4 but we pretty much loved all of them. Drinks were refreshing too and not overly sweet. We just stop by to grab some tacos on the way back from Vancouver BC to Seattle. They have good music and decent tacos with a generous portion of proteins. Our server was attentive also. Pretty good for a" bar with tacos ". Each small soft corn tortilla will cost you approximately $5, and sides like salsa with tortilla chips at least that. It's a cozy setting and the staff are friendly. I'd return if wanting to sit and have a light lunch with someone. read more

I was worried that 2 wouldn't be enough (along with sharing a guac appetizer), but that wasn't a problem. Absolutely loved our experience at Black Sheep in Bellingham! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home, super friendly and attentive. And the food! Hands down, the best tacos we've had in ages. We tried the fish, chicken tinga, nacho plate, tofu, and carnitas, and each one was packed with flavor, but the fish and the nacho plate stood out as our favorites. The cocktails were just as impressive. We had the Smoke Four Seasons Bourbon and the Citrus Bourbon, and they were both incredible, so much depth and flavor in each sip. Honestly, this place is worth the drive from Seattle alone. Plus, Bellingham is such a charming town! Definitely made the whole experience even more special. We'll be back for sure! Highly recommend to anyone in the area or planning a trip. The only small complaints that I would have that were not major, were the lighting was a bit too dim but then again it's a bar. I hadn't been to the Black Sheep in several years, so I was excited when some family members suggested we meet there for lunch last weekend. From its exposed brick walls to its over-the-top tacos, Black Sheep continues to deliver tasty eats at its iconic downtown Bham location. I started with a locally brewed Mexican Lager (served with a fresh slice o' lime, of course) and waited for the rest of the group to get there. When everyone arrived, we started with some appies: a big ol 'bowl of impossibly fresh guac, and a bowl of their famous spicy black bean dip. Both were excellent! Then we dove into some tacos (I got a fish taco and a chicken tinga) and they were filling and delicious. Their taco prices might seem a little high, but really it only takes 1-2 tacos to fill you up. These aren't your typical, tiny street food tacos. There were two vegans in our group and they were thrilled at the many meat-free options on the menu. Our server was very friendly and attentive too. There's so much flavor and the chutney doesn't taste too fruity since it's mango pineapple which I also dislike. The pork belly was juicy and the corn tortilla is so soft and fresh. I love the fish tacos too but I had such a tiny piece in it. Finally the Carne asada was tender and tasty. Usually beef is always dry and chewy. This was cooked perfectly with all the toppings and really the tortilla is the winner for me. There's a drive through window. You need to press the door bell for service and can order online from their website! If you come early they tell you to come back for pick up. Overall, delicious and I will be back! read more

I love that when you walk into Black Sheep that the first thing you see is a vending machine that has things like local art, mystery bags, and valuable trinkets, such as "f**k's to give", "kiss me" kits, and coloring books! It provides you with all the things you didn't know you needed while you wait to be seated. We came as a party of 3 at 6:00 on a Friday night, and we only had to wait 2-3 minutes for a table. This round, I ordered a mezcal old fashioned for something bold and strong. It delivered and was a great way to start the night. Who doesn't love classic chips and guacamole to go with their tacos? I enjoyed their chicken tinga and carne asada tacos along with their relaxed atmosphere. Their guacamole is excellent. I love that it was busy without being overwhelming.
