Not sure how Irish this place is, but the pizza was good and drinks were solid. I saw only 3-4 pizza choices on the menu...Irish pizza? Service was at the bar, so really no follow up on your food, drink or if you need anything. Trivia night was a lot of fun; the host did a great job engaging the crowd and keeping it moving along. Back about a million years ago, before I got married, the gals at the office took me for dinner at a Mexican restaurant in downtown Bellingham to celebrate my upcoming nuptials. I don't remember the restaurant, or the name. I do remember that they charged $3 for a side of guacamole, which at the time felt like highway robbery but now it's pretty much the going price for guacamole. But, as usual, I digress... Fast forward "x" amount of years and that Mexican joint is long gone, but in its place is the fine establishment of Uisce's. I'll admit I didn't even visit this place for a long time after it opened. I had trouble wrapping my tongue around the name...how *do* you pronounce it, anyway? I couldn't imagine myself walking in and a friend asking me where it was and trying to say that name clearly (especially, let's face it, if I had a cocktail or two as well). But then one night at work a co-worker invited me out for a drink after our shift, and said she was going to "Ishka's." Hmm, I thought, that place sounds interesting. "Is it new?" I asked. "No, she said, it's right downtown on Cornwall, across from the Parkade. It's an Irish pub." I said, "Oh, did that you-ees-kee's place go out of business?" She laughed. And we went. And it was a pretty cool place! Since then I've been back a few times, and have grown fond of its appropriately darkened interiors, classic dart boards, and GIGANTIC (who made that thing, anyway?) fabric banner hanging over the large, full bar. They've also greatly expanded their tap list, so if you're a beer fan there's sure to be something here for you. (They also, of course, have Guinness - not something that's always easy to find here in the Ham.) My only beef with Uisce's is, well, they don't have beef. Or, really, much food at all. And this is why I don't go as often as I might if they did. But I get it, they're a pub, and they're pretty good at being just that. read more

This is a place that I've always enjoyed. Uisce offers a relaxing atmosphere and comfortable seating options. The staff is friendly and the pub is clean. Uisce was one of the few businesses open on thanksgiving which also happened to be my birthday. I was looking to celebrate my 32 year and have drinks. Uisce allowed me to do that. My date and I had drinks, played darts, and relaxed by the fire place. Uisce offers craft cocktails, beer, and cider on tap. I just wish that Uisce offered some food options. It would have made my visit even better. Uisce always participated in local festivals and holiday celebrations which is nice. The place often has quality entertainment. For some reason, I don't come here often, but I need to change that. read more

I tried Uisce for the first time. I ordered the Uisce lager, but they were out of it. My backup plan, Harp, was out, too! It was Monday after St Patrick's Day, but still it was not a great experience (2 stars). I met with some of my colleagues from work here to drink and celebrate the end of the quarter. As it was not busy in early evening on a weekday, we were able to enjoy our drink and talk. I liked the ambience too (4 stars). We love it here. It's spacious and yet feels warm. The craft cocktail menu is always changing (Gasp! An amazing daiquiri at an Irish pub?!) I appreciate that you can be dressed up or down here and the service is consistently good. Great pub to visit! I believe the owner is Molly, she was friendly and charming. We asked for food recommendations and ordered from next door. I love that since they don't offer food you can order next door and they bring it to your table. What a great way to bring additional businesses together. We ordered the fish and chips. The "chips" which were fries were over cooked and we could only enjoy about half that weren't burnt. The pints at Uisce were a great choice on a chilly, rainy Saturday afternoon! read more

At our first ever visit, We found a beautiful old school irish pub with a amazing bar tender. She was running back and forth helping people with a amazing vibrant smile. Absolutely love the atmosphere and they have one of the best collection of scotch I've seen in a while. The bartender was very friendly and answered lots of questions about how he made certain drinks and differences between various whiskeys. It was also quiet enough (Thursday evening) that my wife and I could have a conversation without having to yell. Uisce is our Bham go-to bar since we are huge scotch fans! The bad thing is they basically have no food options. It is one of the things that prevents us from returning on a more normal basis. 3-4 small pub fare options would be fantastic. I was also a little annoyed that the bartender couldn't tell us anything about a recent scotch tasting they were advertising. Supposedly one needed to buy tickets, but he didn't have any to sell and I couldn't find anything about it on their website. Just decided to forget about it. read more

Irish bars hold a special place in my heart, and Uisce is no exception! Moved to Bellingham from Seattle and this place was recommended time and time again. Finally ventured in on a Saturday night and loved it! The bar has all the right components: wood floors, fireplace, long bar, Irish beer, darts, tables for groups, comfy chairs and great atmosphere! What makes this place is the atmosphere and the people. The place gets packed a little after 9:00 and from then till closing it is a challenge (to say the least) getting a drink. The bar is practically half the length of the place and it's usually 5 people deep waiting for drinks. I recommend getting there by 9:00 and getting a spot at the bar. Pull up a chair and you're set for the night. Be patient with the bartenders (as there are usually only 2), and they will be good to you! read more

I had an awesome time in Uisce - It made me feel right at home...you know why?! Because the owners are originally from NYC :) They definitely bought the east coast vibe to the pacific northwest. It was great talking to them and letting me know how much they enjoyed living in Bellingham. Kudos to the lady for making me an awesome Irish coffee/whiskey drink?!! Fun and challenging (albeit packed) weekly trivia, cool atmosphere with wood floors, a fireplace, vintage whiskey-lined shelves, and the best white russians in Bellingham. Their drinks are more expensive than most places in town, but they're also not catering to the 21 year olds. Sometimes its so crowded you'll fight to even reach the bar which is always kind of annoying, and they typically seem to be understaffed once you do get to the front. That said, once do you manage to order your drink, they pour 'em strong and well. Nice place that elevates the class of Bham's downtown scene. PS. Get the free pretzels and mustard. I've been to this pub several times. I've noticed the number of patrons diminishing over time. This past Saturday night's experience may be the reason why. I walked into this establishment at 11pm. There was a handful of people inside. (Not a good sign for the owners ). I asked my friend to order a glass of wine for me while I went to the ladies room (my second drink of the evening). When I returned, my friend told me that there wasn't much choice of wine and he hoped what he ordered was ok. It wasn't. But that's ok. I get it, this is an Irish pub. That said, if you're going to sell one wine, maybe make sure it's palatable or just don't sell it at all. I handed the wine back to the bartender and told him I'd need to think of something else to order. I didn't ask for a refund, I didn't make any other statement. I asked my friend what I should order. We had just been speaking with a mutual friend about crafted cocktails and so my friend suggested I try something which he then asked the bartender for. We were told that they didn't have the ingredients. I noticed some hostility but ignored it because I couldn't think why there would be any reason for it. So I then ordered a gin and tonic. Didn't even state a preference on the gin. I then continued the discussion with my friend. That discussion was about a recent trip To NYC. The bartender then interrupted our conversation and told us that he felt disrespected (no idea why) and he demanded respect as a requirement of being there ... or else. Or else? At first we thought he was joking. We weren't conversing with him or about him or anything to do with him. My friend asked the bartender, to be clear, if he was dictating what we could speak about and he was told 'yes'. I was floored, to say the least. I've traveled extensively , am well educated and a middle aged female. My friend is a minority, in ethnicity and orientation. So, I think between us, we know what intimidation looks and feels like. We paid our bill and left without touching our drinks. I've never before had someone twice my size try to intimidate me and then claim their sensitivity. Except During my time spent interviewing psychopathic criminals in the penal system. Truly pathetic and If the only Irish bar in town is empty on a Saturday night, I would say 'you're doing it wrong'. read more

This is by far my favorite bar in Bellingham. For beer drinkers, there is a definite joy that fills the heart when served something magical: an imperial pint. I'm no good at math or anything, but I'm *pretty* sure that's 25% more beer. I'm also pretty sure that more beer is better than less beer in almost any situation. They serve good beer there, too. There's a full bar for all you non-beer drinkers as well. They won't serve up anything with energy drinks, either, so that usually keeps out the douche bag type crowd roaming around with their unpaid hookers after leaving the Royal. On weekends it can be extremely crowded and take a good bit to get a drink. It can also take a good bit to make the epic journey to and from the bathrooms. I say 'epic' because of the intense numbers of obstacles in the way: leather furniture, a raging inferno (there's a fireplace), thirty-six (give or take three) people waiting for a drink, as well as the dart throwing crowd. With a large (10+) group, get there early enough to grab one of the church pew tables and you can fit everyone in just fine. You'd be fine to get there anywhere from 8 - 9 on a weekend most of the time. Otherwise it will get a bit difficult. read more

A Filipino in an Irish Bar... interesting. I love this place. I went with a couple of friends and it was just a great place to chill and have awesome conversations with. I guess having a well equipped bar with great service helps as well. They have live music during some nights and some dart boards to keep you occupied. My friends go here for trivia nights on tuesdays (?) and they keep talking about how packed it gets! I need to go on these nights since I'm free on Tuesday evenings now. Prices are pretty good, but then again anything I've found in Bellingham totally beats the LA/Vegas prices I'm used to. read more

Uisce is a phenomenal Irish Pub! We went there for our first time this past weekend and had such a great time! My boyfriend is just starting to really get into Scotch and the bartender, Johnny, was amazing! Johnny took the time to talk with my boyfriend about the different Scotch's, offered his recommendations, and is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I am not much of a drinker, and told Johnny I liked sweet and fruity drinks. He said, "say no more", I have you taken care of and he did. Just tell him what you like, and he'll make you the best drinks around! We really loved the old school, long wooden bar, the atmosphere, the free dart boards, comfortable seating - it is a fun place to be! This is my favorite bar in Bellingham! Every time I've come in, I've asked the bartender for recommendations based on the liquor and flavors I like, and I always get something tasty and unique. I always make sure to avoid it on the weekends, and just come in during the week when it's quiet. I love the atmosphere - dim, easy to spend lots of time at without feeling rushed, and laid-back. Each time I sit at the bar, the bartender makes me and whoever I'm with feel welcomed and treats us like we're old friends. The bartenders always strike a good balance between chatting with us and letting us do our own thing. The only drawback is that I've tried to go in on weekends and it's incredibly packed and noisy. It's almost like two different bars depending on when you go. Definitely check this place out during the week if you're looking for a great place with delicious drinks! read more

Though I normally enjoy this establishment (and have had some fun here during trivia), I can't help but complain about the bartender that served my friends and me the other day. We decided to grab a drink and play some cards at an earlier hour, so there were very few other customers there at the time. You would think that the bartender had plenty of time to converse/tend to us. Instead, after we ordered drinks, he casually called my friend a "piece of s**t" and brushed us off as customers, as if he didn't want us there. I can certainly vouch for my friend that she was joking with him, as any friendly person would. Additionally, more than once, I have been charged more for a drink than they told me it would cost. If a drink costs more and you (the bartender) told me a different price, the customer should be informed of the charge or you should charge them what you told them it would cost. read more
