Chicken teriyaki in Ginger boat platter
    Lillyvette M.

This restaurant is small but very cute and accommodating. The menu is very extensive and is available to look at online. The hostess is also the person taking your order and serving you was very friendly and efficient. The food comes out on these really cute porcelain boats -- hence the name "Ginger Boat" -- with generous portions and the food was really delicious. We truly enjoyed the food and the ambiance. When we left, we were thanked for our patronage.

    Yakisoba and Rice.

We decided to try Ginger Boat since we were shopping close by. We had take out and brought our meals home to eat. We tried the Pad Sao, and Yakisoba, both with Tofu. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. Both meals were good, I preferred the Pad Sao. I don't think this is the best Asian food I've tried in Bellingham, but it is good, and the portions and price make up for it. Great service, nice quiet dining room, huge menu. We will probably be back.

    Made in-house Lumpia
    Curtis L.

Absolutely LOVED the lumpia that's wrapped in-house. Besides the crisp crunch you feel when you bite into it, you could taste how fresh the lumpia filling is as the flavors coat your tongue. Since it's freshly fried, biting into the overlapping layers of the pastry skin was such a satisfying experience, second only to stepping on crunchy fall leaves. The tangy sauce that it comes with compliments the lumpia really well as it helps cut some of the heaviness and brings about a new experience to flavor profile. The tempura fries were also really tasty as it's light and fluffy under the thin and crisp tempura batter. The sauce it comes with compliments the fries really well too, bringing in a little sweet and creaminess with along with it. Definitely a must try if you're in the area! (If you have the gas though, I think it's worth the drive too if you're not c: )

    Burnt Chicken Fried Rice

I ordered chicken fried rice and shrimp noodles for takeout, but unfortunately, they arrived burnt and bitter, rendering them unedible. Upon contacting the establishment to lodge a complaint, the female representative expressed gratitude for my feedback. ‍‍

We come here about 1 a month now. 1.) due to the distance from our home and 2.) it's just absolutely delicious! Service has improved A LOT since we first started coming here. We actually prefer to dine in now! Highly recommend ! Tried a lot of their dishes now and none have ever disappointed!!

3 stars, I liked the food to an extent (hehe) but the bathroom has a strange mirror that allows myself to look at myself while going number 2. Usually I don't mind this however I had cds

Chicken AND Beef vermicelli salad. Look how bright those noodles and greens are!

It has been far too long since I've enjoyed Ginger Boat! We were passing through town and we needed to order something fresh and simple. We ordered in this round. My mind immediately went to Ginger Boat! We split the chicken vermicelli salad and the beef vermicelli salad. The vermicelli salad bases are the same for both dishes-cold mung bean noodles sitting upon a bed of crunchy greens, with peanuts to pour on top. The chicken and beef were so tangy and flavorful. The sauce complimented the noodles and greens without overpowering them. I preferred the beef to the chicken, but adored this combo! We were sorry to not dine in person, and look forward to it in the future.

I hadn't been to Ginger Boat in many, many moons. I know it changed hands a few times, so I was always a little weary. We wandered in late on a Saturday afternoon and there were only a couple tables in the restaurant. We ordered the Shanghai noodles, jajjangmyeon and combo teriyaki (with all the meats!) as well as the lumpia they had on special that day. The portions were a great value for the price and the service was super friendly. The lumpia was definitely a highlight. I wouldn't say the food was spectacular, but we will definitely plan to be back to try more of the menu! The signage with it's doodles and penmanship were a great addition as well

So glad I discovered this place right by my place of living! I have been here twice and tried a variety of things. I have to say the quality of food is good, flavorful and would definitely be back. I think they should a good job keeping things fresh, my friend has ordered the tempura fries and they waited until we came to get our food to drop the fries into the fryer so they wouldn't be soggy! That's pretty awesome customer service. Since it's COVID times, there was no indoor seating but the place was spacious and could fit a good amount of people for indoor seating. I ordered teriyaki chicken, gyoza, egg rolls. I have also tried the dumpling soup and tempura fries. I personally didn't like the egg rolls and dumpling soup, not that it wasn't good but my taste buds go towards teryaki chicken! Highly recommend! Also, if you like coconut jelly, try the mogu ? Mogi? Drink.

    Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Salad
    Erin M.

Last night my partner called me right before getting off work and we were both craving some Asian food. I had not tried Ginger Boat before, but I had always been curious. I got their Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Salad with extra sauce, Pork Goyza, Veggie Egg Rolls and my partner got the Bulgogi Teriyaki. All items were hot and flavorful. My salad was big with lots of chicken and they loaded me up with the sauce. My partners Bulgogi tasted good, but the meat was pretty dry which was unfortunate. I might try this place again, but I will probably not do any of their teriyaki next time.

The food is decent. Service is nice and the decor is interesting. However, it is really over priced for the value.

The teriyaki was just okay. Can definitely find better options throughout town. They also do not have California rolls anymore.

We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!
