It's been a decade since I've been back to Magleby's. The Stuffed Breadstick smothered in Alfredo is still just as tasty as I remember. There was quite a rush around noon. Although we beat the rush to order, it did take a while for the food to hit the table. That said, each member of my party shared that their meals were delicious. Apparently there are 3 locations to this establishment and I just now tried it!?!? The prices are super reasonable! The kids burger meal was very filling and no way looked like a kid could finish it. I love beer battered fries. You can swap out your side on any entree or kids meal. The bowl of tomato pesto soup was delicious and super warm and surprisingly BIG. it was definitely more than a "bowl size" at most locations. Oh and their ranch tasted home made- yummy and thick. No extra charges for sauce too. They happily added onions to my kids burger when I got the food, I was delighted that it was crispy onion strings! My friend had the Denver omelette-- it looked delicious and love that they serve breakfast all day! However there are only like 3 items for breakfast on their menu. My other friend got the chicken Marsala -- the mushroom sauce on top of the chicken and mashed potatoes looked so yummy and I was surprised it still came with a side! By the way these fresh cheese rolls were also something worth mentioning- but I notice they do vary in size. Soup comes with 2. I saw one employee getting some ready to go into the oven when we were at the counter ordering. I need to come back and try the chocolate cake that I hear they are known for! This location is in a strip mall so plenty of parking. Lots of seating and the wait for food was minimal. We were the only ones there when we arrived on a Wednesday at 6. Zero stars if I could. ! called to get their hours and was told open until 2, it was 10:50 We drove over and arrived 20 minutes later. They proceeded to say they were closed due to running out of all ingredients. What was really maddening was it was a bunch of teens laughing behind the counter doing nothing. I love this local restaurant for their homestyle cooking and their top-notch service. Everyone there is always so kind. Today was no exception. As I walked out with my to-go meal, someone ran after me because they had filled my box with more fries (because he didn't think there was enough in there), but had forgotten to put them back in my bag. The restaurant was filling up for dinner time, but my order was ready right when I got there. The golden, beer battered fries are crunchy with the perfect center and worth the trip alone. Even with ordering pick up, they were still crunchy when I got home. I order mine with their homemade fry sauce. I'm pretty sure they mix it with some of their homemade BBQ sauce. So divine! The other real winner here is the side salad. I fear in talking it up too much, they may alter their prices, but it's a great deal and an amazing side for only an additional $2.99! I ordered the chicken fingers kids meal, which I should've tackled first because my meat was borderline dry, but still good, by the time I got to it. The side salad is fresh, colorful and served along with their homemade dressings. I went with ranch tonight. Provolone & Asiago cheese, cucumbers, mushroom, tomato, salami, lettuce, carrots all a top fresh lettuce (not like the bagged kind from the store). A great stop to make in both Lindon and Provo alike. I did not dine in tonight, but the ambiance is simple and welcoming. *I didn't order the chocolate cake tonight, but do not leave without it. We've come to Magleby's for many years now and especially every year for my husband's birthday over the last 10 years. Unfortunately, each year the experience seems to decline, and this visit was the final straw. The restaurant appears to be run almost entirely by underaged and under-equipped staff who lack even basic customer welcome to my house service skills, and sadly this includes the manager as well. The overall attitude from the staff was unfriendly and dismissive, and during our visit we witnessed multiple other customers actively complaining. Frankly, the rest of the reviews speak for themselves. We arrived right when they opened and were told they were already out of potatoes, meaning they couldn't include them in the breakfast burrito. I asked if the missing potatoes could be substituted with bacon instead, and was told yes--but only for an additional charge. That made absolutely no sense. If a core ingredient of the entrée is unavailable, the substitute should not cost extra. A breakfast burrito without potatoes is not the same dish, and the lack of accommodation was frustrating and unreasonable. How a restaurant is out of potatoes first thing in the morning is beyond me. When I later went to the counter to explain that we never received the berries and whipped cream we requested to be added, the staff we didn't even place our order with was extremely rude and said we "didn't ask for it." They then charged us nearly $5 for a very small side of berries and whipped cream. Completely outrageous. The food itself was mediocre at best. The steak in the breakfast burrito was very chewy and stiff, making it unenjoyable to eat. To make matters worse, when the female employee brought our food to the table, she essentially tossed the tray down in front of us. It felt personal, disrespectful, and shocking. Even the people seated across from us looked over with a shocked look on their face and shrugged. We drive over 30 minutes to come here and have continued to give Magleby's chances year after year based on past experiences. It's deeply disappointing to watch a once-beloved establishment decline so noticeably and nothing seems to change. Sadly, if things continue this way, it's hard to see how this place will last much longer. It's safe to say we will no longer be returning. read more

Super yummy and fresh breakfast! Their French toast is so good with their berries, whipped cream, and homemade buttermilk syrup. The whipped cream is absolutely fresh and delicious. The syrup is served super warm and adds such nice flavor to the French toast. The candied bacon is to die for! It's crisp and has the perfect amount of sweetness. It is definitely some of the best bacon in town! The scrambled eggs were pretty good too. :) so glad we came here for breakfast. Service was great too. Will be back soon! read more

The place is almost deserted. I am not sure how they stay in business. The food was not good this time. I had the blackened chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was good, but the salad was chopped iceberg from a bag, and every piece of it was brown. Not fresh in anyway. There were about 45 1 inch croutons on the salad. More croutons than lettuce or chicken. I had a slice of the chocolate cake for dessert and although I asked if it was fresh today and they said yes, it was not. It was dry when I tasted it and you could even see the dryness at the corners of the cake. All of this cost me $20 and frankly it wasn't worth five. I'm not sure I'll ever go again. read more

I've been here a couple of times for lunch with coworkers and while the food is usually pretty good and they have a good variety of options, it has yet to meet my expectations. It's not bad by any means and I'll likely find myself going again but I'll likely stick with some of their staple options instead of trying something new. In addition to the quality of the food, my coworkers and I have often had issues with our food coming out at different intervals, often leaving one or two of us waiting for our food even when we order together and when there isn't a large line behind us. The wait has been long enough that we let those with food begin eating to avoid it from getting cold. read more

Their black chicken pasta is so flavorless and nothing else on the menu looked good so I used to just come here for their bacon. Out of three sandwich's two were made wrong. When I told the employees and let the cook know. They did not apologize and want to make it right. My main complaint: it smelled like feet. No one wants to eat at a place where it's smelly. However, our waitress was probably the nicest person I've EVER met and she is the MAIN reason I'll be returning. Thank you Abby for making my experience great! I only come to Magleby's Fresh if someone else picks where we eat. The half chicken avocado bacon salad had about as much chicken, bacon, and avocado as the full. Save your money and get the half because the full order is just more lettuce. Not very much avocado for it being in the name of the salad and the bacon is more like bacon bits from a jar. The ingredients ARE fresh, so that's a big positive for me (thus the extra star), but not much value in taste (plain) or portions of meat/avocado. If you're dining in, they have metal utensils even though they hand out limpy plastic ones. read more

Surprisingly disappointing Tonight went in after a long absence of visiting this restaurant. I've been coming to Magelby's for more than 40 years (mostly their other locations). Ordered the fish and chips, two halibut dinners and kids chicken tenders. The bill cane to over $60. It surprised me. I paid with a credit card and then asked for a detailed receipt but was told "we don't provide those kind". Really? Isn't that the law? Heaven help you if you need to expense a meal and can't provide a detail receipt of what you actually ordered. I asked how much the halibut was and they didn't know as it is listed as "market price". I added up my other items and concluded I was charged about $20 for each halibut dinner. After some insistence they finally looked it up and it was listed as $17.50. They couldn't explain the discrepancy as to why I was charged so much and without a detailed receipt, I was out of luck. To add to the bad experience, there was no ice available and the famous magelby's rolls were about the size of 50 cent pieces and hard and chewy. See the pic below. Definitely the smallest and worst I've had. I can't blame the people working here as they seemed nice enough but had no idea what was going on. The owners bear responsibility for a lack of training in so many aspects. Is this place even still owned by the original people? If so, Doc would feel ashamed and his picture is on the wall here. I have always loved Magleby's and I have left a positive review in the past. However, the two times I've been in the last six months, on both occasions, I saw two different employees licking their fingers while they plated food. When I visited in June one of them was Serena pasta and got marinara sauce on his finger and licked it off. In November, I visited and watched a girl cutting round cake into plastic clamshells. She had her right hand gloved, which she was using to pick up the cake slices and put them in the clamshells and she had her other hand ungloved. She was using to cut and frosting on her fingers and licked them. On top of that, the quality of food has declined. We used to stop by on weekends just to grab German chocolate cake, but the recipe has changed and it is now more flour than flavor. In the spring, I called to order a German chocolate cake ahead of time and was told they had one on hand after waiting 15 minutes for someone to check. I received a call only an hour later when on my way to pick it up stating they in fact did not have one. This week I ordered two meals to go at 10 in the morning. I was running quite late to pick them up for lunch and called ahead to make sure that utensils and things had been added to the order so I did not have to wait. I got there and not only was my food not packaged and ready, but no one had put the utensils in or knew what was going on. I have always loved their food, but their service and employees are slipping hard-core. I hope they can rectify all of these things and bring their restaurant back to the glory at once was. read more

I've eaten here a lot and I'm sad to say the past little while things have progressively gotten worse. They seem to always be out of things so they can't make some of the items on their menu, using flimsy plastic forks even in the restaurant isn't my favorite, burgers used to be delicious but now have 2 terrible tasting patties and our to-go French toast order was not even cooked through- how do you screw up French toast? I arrived tonight to order some things to go at 7:42, 18 minutes before they closed and they couldn't make me a salad because they've already put everything away, I tried to order a sandwich that was listed on their specials and she also said they couldn't make it anymore for the same reason. My salad was placed on a paper plate so overcrowded (It was a small, cheap plate) that there was no way to toss the salad or even cut it without it going all over the table, plus there was a lot of old lettuce. Bring Magleby's to Salt Lake County, I say! I've always preferred Magleby's to Kneaders although they have similar breakfast options. The chocolate cake at Magleby's is legendary and the unlimited french toast is pretty great too. It's thick and fluffy and comes with a super delicious but definitely guilt-inducing syrup. I haven't tried lunch here but I've always been impressed with breakfast. I visited the Lindon location this past Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy. The workers were friendly and easy to track down when I wanted a refill of french toast. This location has two nice individual locking-door bathrooms with an actual baby changing table in each, which is something I've come to appreciate very much. I also liked the big tub of ice-cold water with lemons that presented a nice alternative to water from a soda machine. read more

The Fresh is probably best for the bottomless pancake and waffles. I had the Philly cheesesteak. Great portion size however the cheesesteak had a Magelbys spin to it. Not my favorite in flavor. I like the original classic cheesesteak. Theirs was more tangy. My husband got the salad and it was kinda small considering it's all veggies. And some steak on top. We ordered our food about 6:30 ad we ordered the cashier told us they were out of fries so I said mash would be fine, however he said they were out of mashed too. So I said what about a cup of soup? He said that will cost extra so I asked what are my choices he replied veggies or sweet potato fries- I picked the sweet potatoes and my husband picked the veggies.... at 7:25 I went and asked how much longer it would be for our food, she said she didn't know, I told her we just had 2 fish and chips she replied oh we ran out of veggies. So I said the sweet potatoes would be fine she handed me our food.... my 1st bite was cold all my bites were cold it was the worst ever!!! I heard a few people complain to them and they just didn't respond, so I figured why waste my breath I already wasted my time and money! Pretty disappointing. Both orders had something that was wrong. I paid 14.99 for the cordon blue which was tiny. There were flakes of something in the water. Just seems super overpriced for what we paid for. The mash potatoes were cold and congealed. The soups were flavorless. All together we paid 40 bucks, should have just stayed home.
