We've been to this Magleby's in Provo about a dozen times over the past 8 years. I've definitely noticed a change in quality of the food and cleanliness of the restaurant in general. My husband and I have tried several dishes over the years and they're just not as good as previous years. This includes the pancakes. And the past three times we've sat down at a table that was not clean. It appears someone is busing the tables by removing the dishes but not wiping the tables down. Each time I've had to pull wipes from my bag and clean my own table. But the restaurant in general needs a thorough cleaning. Crumbs in the bench seat crevices. Gum that has now turned black from being on the floor for a long time. And even the wooden wall areas around the tables and benches need a thorough cleaning. Last week was our last time going to Magleby's. We'll find another place to go. read more

I always get the bottomless pancakes at maglebys and what a deal. The pancakes are soft and pillowy and sweet with the syrup. And the employees are kind and get you as many refills as you want. The resturant is packed though but we were able to find seating. read more

I get this place is kind of a legend, I still remember eating at the original Magleby's in Provo, and I have a enjoyed a meal or two at their place in Springville. That said, the food is just okay/mediocre. Their "sweet" bacon is terrible in my opinion, but that's probably just me because I don't like sweet and savory. Everything I've ordered here is just okay. My daughter ordered French toast with a side of berries. No berries and they refused to give them to me because I didn't have a receipt (which they didn't give me when I paid). I ordered an omelette and asked for it without several ingredients. Of course, they gave me most of the stuff I asked to omit. I typically avoid waking up in the morning because it's an overrated part of the day, however, I woke up this morning wanting Magleby's. Being an avid burrito enthusiast I had to go with the breakfast burrito! That piece of bacon on the top is the single best piece of bacon I have ever eaten. It was sweat and easy to chew! I'll daydream about that bacon going forward in life. The burrito itself was a spectacle to behold and to savor! Mixed with cilantro, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole this was close to a masterpiece. I left filled and satisfied to the point I took a five hour nap! The staff were polite, friendly, and the service was quick! I appreciate the small menu because you know whatever you get will be quality and it's easy to choose what to eat! As much as I loathe waking up in the morning, I did enjoy the early atmosphere of Magleby's. It was peaceful to the point you could hear the staff prepping food and talking with the customers. The amount of light felt soothing to the eyes! If I had an apartment above Magleby's, I would become a regular in the morning before I would have to work! Well done! read more

The pancakes with berries and cream are the best pancakes I've ever had. Everything else I've had is average. People rave about the bacon, but I personally hate it. I like my bacon savory not sweet, and they have the sweetest bacon you'll ever eat. Never order coffee if you're into that. Always bring your own. read more

I've been eating here for years and it's always good. The menu is small, but they have great options. The decor is simple, but nice. It's a great place for a quick dinner with my wife or a brunch work meeting. I'm a fan of the avocado toast. It's not overly complicated and I like it with over easy eggs. Expectations were through the roof when I heard about this place from dear friend, she insisted that they had excellent food and quality service. Upon entering their establishment a wave of flies immediately swarmed me. NO JOKE 60 flies in my vision, anyway, I skeptically made my way towards the register. A delightful young man took order and was very helpful in making sure i got exactly what i wanted. I proceeded to sit down. I came in close to their closing time and many employees seemed to care more about their closing responsibilities than caring for me (a paying customer). As I was eating, I could not help but note that one small boy seemed to doing useless tasks while his fellows were doing the bulk of the obligations pertaining to their closing duties. Besides that the food was exceedingly dry and tasteless. Left my mouth more parched then the Sahara desert. I'm my opinion they should consider learning a thing or two maybe from online YouTube tutorials or otherwise more experienced and or knowledgeable chefs. . Most certainly will not be spending $28 for halibut and a drink where half the options aren't even available to paying valuable customers. Ps: the cake I had heard so much about was well below parr. The French toast and syrup are fantastic, and very inexpensive considering the amount of food you get (unlimited). The sugar coated bacon is also excellent. Always busy Saturday mornings, but they move through the rush fairly quickly. read more

This review is coming from just this last month visits. Coming in twice a week... lately the quality has been taking a dive. The crispy onions on my salad have been soggy. The protein/steak has not been consistent. I even order the larger salad to get more protein but the amount is just as much as a half salad. Pretty disappointing. Fish in chip have more batter than fish. Literally searching for the fish in my fish and chips. Way too much batter in comparison to fish. Today of all days it was my friend's birthday and we were served in paper plates! I don't even use paper at my home party's. I come to Maglebys bcz the quality and and lately it's just been very very disappointing. They need to get a hold on the flies.. way too many flies. Maybe clean doors a little more use a better all purpose cleaner to help from flies wanting to land on tables all the time. I will have to try Springville and hope it's better. read more

Don't get the fish and chips. That being said, this place isn't....great, I'd say it's adequate. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff, but my wife ordered the fish and chips and they looked more like corn dogs. The chicken tenders were good and they have the battered fries, which are too tier fries. Chillllllleeeeee... let me tell you. I don't know what else they serve on this here menu but it was recommended to try the chocolate cake here and it did not disappoint. I mean it was slammin! I didn't even look at the menu. The chocolate cake was lined up ready waiting for me to arrive. I didn't even make it out the parking lot before I tried my first bite. It was moist. It was not too sweet. It was perfection. I mean.... Best chocolate cake I've had in a while. The atmosphere of this place reminds me of Polly's pies back home on california. It's almost like a diner bit is big enough to look more like a restaurant. But it definitely gives diner vibes. None of that mattered to me because this damn cake!!! I had to meet someone here for a business meeting- wasn't super thrilled about having to meet here. I ate here like 8 years ago and wasn't a fan. This time- I ended up ordering the Pancake dish... did I mention it was bottomless?!?! Unlimited pancakes for $7- yes please. I wasn't expecting much with these but was completely blown away. Pancakes were warm, thick and had a great buttermilk flavor. The syrup that came with it far surpassed the classic store bought corn syrup concoction. Nestled closer to a residential area of Provo, this classic restaurant is a nice contrast to the bustling restaurants closer to campus. You can tell the locals love it and it doesn't disappoint! I come here a lot and try not to complain but the last couple times hasn't been the best. Today the soda machine was out of syrup I paid for 8 drinks and the only thing that was working was dr.pepper but it wasn't the greatest. My wife had the blackened chicken with penne pasta and Alfredo sauce. They are locally famous for their parmesan crusted bread sticks, and my wife grabbed a dozen to go. Casual dining. Walk up and order at the front and they call you to pick up your food when it's ready. You get a sit-down service quality meal with cafeteria style ordering. Best chocolate cake in Utah. We've had it several times over the years and I just can't get enough. 100% worth every single calorie. It's just, melt in your mouth incredible. Nuke it in the microwave for 10-12 seconds and be amazed. The cake is moist and the frosting makes my mouth water just thinking about it. We've been ordering here for years and my family has had no complaints. We usually order their Halibuts and salads. They also make amazing French toast and delicious chocolate and carrot cakes. Their shop is nicely clean and menu much better to read and know what they have. Only complaints are I wish they offered more on their menu. It seems they've gone smaller, but that might just be me. You know what? Magleby's Fresh has really upped their game lately. If you would have asked me 2-3 years ago, I probably would have given this place 2.5-3 stars. It was just so forgettable and bland. I think it is a well deserved 4 now. Literally only stopped here the other night because nothing else sounded good, but we were pleasantly surprised! Their menu looks good, the quality of the ingredients was good, the service was good, and the food was good! I even enjoyed my stuffed breadstick better as leftovers the next day. Some stand out items here that really push it out of the brink of mediocrity are the breadsticks, buttermilk syrup, and THAT CHOCOLATE CAKE. I tried them again since I've been to events the past couple years where Magleby's catered French toast and it was amazing. Unfortunately that must have been their catering staff. At the restaurant was a different story. I got endless French toast with berries and whipped cream and was sorely disappointed in the food and service. They forgot the fruit and whipped cream at first and since it's an extra $4 I went back and asked them to correct that. They reluctantly gave me a cup full of unripe strawberries (I know it's winter), ok blueberries, and topped off with the flattest, saddest whipped cream I've seen since I stopped using cool whip. The French toast had no obvious butter on it. The syrup tasted different and had no flavor except extreme sugar, and I was not pleased. After reluctantly finishing it and seeing other service related problems, I figured I would get my moneys worth by ordering more since it's endless. I tried the pancakes instead next and they gave me 2. A little light for a 2nd round but I kind of understand. I then asked for more whipped cream and berries (hoping it would be better/fresh) since I thought they forgot, and unfortunately you only get 1 cup of that for an "endless" meal. Sigh, whatever. Then I took a bite of pancake and almost spit it out. It looks cooked but had the texture of thick batter and tastes raw. They were also pretty flat. I can make better pancakes with a box mix. Never again coming back and will not trust catering to be better even with past good experiences. read more

Magleby's Fresh was fine. We got a variety of options, including an exceptionally mild-flavored Avocado Toast, a Denver omelette, and the "bottomless" French toast, and they were all just okay. My sticking point with the French toast is that they didn't refill it. If there was some kind of extra thing we needed to do in order to get it refilled, it was not communicated with us. So yeah, not very bottomless, and in that sense not worth the money. Still, I can recommend Magleby's if you want to get a decent breakfast/brunch, especially if you can figure out how to get refills on your French toast. read more
