I moved here from Texas a couple years ago, and have been pining for a good steak. La Vaca was new & recommended. It's South American, not Texan, but Latin America knows its way around a cow too. The owners opened Asada Argentine Grill & The Brunch House and sold them. This is their third Provo restaurant. Anyway we got the Calamari appetizer and it was amazing. It also included catfish, shrimp, fried onion shards, and fried jalapenos. We shared the strawberry horchata and it was one of the best things I've ever drunk. My wife got the entrana steak, which had some skin on it (the waitress warned us this is standard). She took most of it home and said it was even better the next day. I got the leg of lamb special which is once a month. It was a little fatty, but the meat itself was incredibly good. Came with a gigantic leg bone for your dog. The desserts were okay, but not up to the level of the appetizer & entrees. Will be back. Not as pricey as I feared going in. read more

What wonderful, warm service we got at this lovely little Argentinean steakhouse! Our hardworking waiter, Javier, was extremely personable and eager to please. I enjoyed the authentic morcilla ( blood sausage), but it's a taste and texture that probably isn't everyone's cup of tea. On the other hand, anyone who doesn't love their bright, herby chimichurri sauce probably should seek psychological help! We split a wedge salad and a filet mignon---the portions were generous and the food was tasty. We'll certainly return to explore more of the menu, especially the tempting desserts for which we didn't have any more room in our stomachs! read more

If Julio Gonzalez is doing it, the restaurant will be good. I think he's walking the line of being an American steakhouse versus Latin American. Everything the wife and I have had there was excellent. They steaks are always cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes are excellent and I love making sure to get come. We had such a great experience here!! We were greeted by the owner, he is such a lively and welcoming person. You can just tell that he loves meeting new people and truly loves his job. Our waiter, Javier was also so amazing. He gave us great recommendations and checked in on us often. They start you out with a consommé, which is to cleanse your palate before you eat your food. It's like a broth so it's salty and warm and honestly pretty tasty! For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the coconut shrimp, both were really good but the favorite was definitely the coconut shrimp! For main dishes, we ordered the Entrana steak, filet mignon prime, housemade potato gnocchi with white and red sauce, and bolognese fettuccini. Everything was seriously so good! This place is worth the price. Our server Javier was everything you need in a waiter. He was timely and friendly and professional. He's a real one. The Skirt Steak Pinwheels with fries was amazing. So many flavors in the garnishes. Mashed potato's and prime rib were good. The desserts were also fantastic. We tried the tiramisu with coffee which was sinfully delicious. We tried La Vaca on a Friday night. The service was great our waiter Conner did an exceptional job. The restaurant was small and intimate. The meal started with the complementary bread. This was the most disappointing part. Although the bread was warm it was dense and dry and just a hard swallow all the way around. We ordered the coconut shrimp as our appetizer. The shrimp had good flavor very sweet. They were served with a cocktail sauce that in my opinion was not a great pair. We were given a complementary soup this was amazing. It was like a hug in a mug. Great flavor. For our entree we ordered the Large Short Rib with Mashed Potatoes. They were cooked to perfection and had a great flavor. I do think there are some areas that will get better over time but this is a must visit place in Provo! read more

Terrible service aggressive manager owner. Started with the server saying hold on to seat us. Half the restaurant was empty, so my wife and 2 year old daughter thought it would quick. 10 minutes later the owner/manager comes out i said hi, he didn't acknowledge me instead said hi to my wife then told my wife what? You don't want to say hi while she is still shaking his hand. Then said hi to me. Then he told us a story in how his staff of 2 waiters are busy cleaning their half empty restaurant for us. Instead his wait staff giving customers wine instead of suppose cleaning. We left, the owner manager followed us to parking lot and told us hey we are cleaning your table why you are leaving. Proceed to let him know then tell my wife and 2 year old fine whatever and leaves . Horrible experience for an expensive restaurant. Walked in and was immediately met by the owner who promptly shook each of our hands and was very friendly. I recently travelled to Argentina and from what I saw, the people there were bringing their authentic culture to this restaurant. We tried various steaks and for the filet mignon that I ordered, it was spectacular. Cooked to and excellent medium rare, and the flavor was something new but delicious. Some other honorable mentions include their strawberry horchata, the empanadas, and of course it was so great having chimichurri wit everything. 9.8/10 would recommend you won't find steak like this anywhere else read more

We went to La Vaca for the first time on Saturday Night 8/29/26. We were immediately greeted by the owner welcoming us for the first time. The atmosphere was wonderful & the food was amazing. We started with appetizer - calamari - soooooo good! There were 4 of us so we decided on items we could all try, everything was delicious & we will definitely be back to try more. Our server Diana was what made our experience over the top. She was above and beyond, explaining the items on the menu to us in detail, giving us suggestions, showing us plates as she walked by with them and THE TOPPER WAS, suggesting a desert which was out of this world - the specialty cake (which we got the last slice). La Vaca is the best restaurant in Provo in our opinion, and one of our top favs in Utah! We stayed in Provo for a few days as my husband was recovery from surgery, and we went to La Vaca for dinner. The owner, Julio, treated us like relatives who had finally come home. The way he described their meals and cooking process, and helped us decide what to try, was a passionate and poetic experience!
