T-Bone steak

We came to Provo, UT for work purposes and look for recommendations to a a great steakhouse, and the map suggested La Vaca Steakhouse, the food is AMAZING! The chef nailed what Puma asked for on meat term, the potatoes were delicious, I ate the skin, soooo good! And the beef skirt spinwheels, delicious! The service, well what can I say, very attentive, cortesious and 100+ on customer service. Great experience.

We tried La Vaca on a Friday night. The service was great our waiter Conner did an exceptional job. The restaurant was small and intimate. The meal started with the complementary bread. This was the most disappointing part. Although the bread was warm it was dense and dry and just a hard swallow all the way around. We ordered the coconut shrimp as our appetizer. The shrimp had good flavor very sweet. They were served with a cocktail sauce that in my opinion was not a great pair. We were given a complementary soup this was amazing. It was like a hug in a mug. Great flavor. For our entree we ordered the Large Short Rib with Mashed Potatoes. They were cooked to perfection and had a great flavor. I do think there are some areas that will get better over time but this is a must visit place in Provo!

Delicious!!

La Vaca Restaurant in Provo has been open for 6 months now. We had an excellent experience eating here. A warm & friendly atmosphere. Our waiter Pedro was very personable and engaging. My son loved the bone marrow appetizer. Steaks were great and I had a delicious Passion Fruit drink. Check it out!

food - best food in Utah county . Service- best service I had in a long time . Staff is very friendly . Ambiance - is just that the place is small . Pro-Totally recommend this place . Con-Just little pricey .

Food was amazing! They accommodated my allergy and really made a fun evening with coworkers!

Coconut shrimp appetizer

Service was good. I was excited to try this place out. It was really loud and sounds echoed through the building making it hard to hear the server. They were out of few things I wanted to try, but our main dishes were alright.

So unique and flavorful. For the main entree, the gnocchi and winter pasta were also a hit. Hard to top the soup and salad though! To top it all off, the pumpkin pie panna cotta was amazing. They included it free of charge, as an anniversary gift. What a nice surprise! Great service, great food, great time.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

They had a couple of pickup orders but other than that there wasn't much business. Service was okay but not top notch. My husband ordered some Buffalo Wings and a Chicken Quesadilla. Waitress brought out the Wings, and my husband enjoyed them, but she forgot the Quesadilla and didn't remember him ordering it, but she placed the order and it came out promptly. I asked the waitress about which item k should order the Roasted Turkey BLT or the Chicken Alfredo, and she said the sandwich was full of meat and really good. So I ordered it and did enjoy it with a side of sweet potato fries which were really yummy. When we asked about validation to the waitress she said they didn't validate date but we could ask the front desk. Went over to the front desk and she said we needed to ask the restaurant! When I explained to her what they said she was shocked. She tried validating our ticket but couldn't confirm it worked. We had to contact the desk to open the gate but we got out. I don't usually frequent Provo in the evening so I don't think I'd look he back anytime soon but if I had a need I'd probably give this place a second chance.

We stayed at a hotel nearby on our way home from our Thanksgiving holiday. We were referred to this…read morerestaurant due to its location and the person said that it was a great restaurant so we ventured out to try it. The restaurant is connected to the Ramada Inn hotel and very close to a mall. So location was good. Upon entering we were greeted by a young lady in jeans and a sweater, not at all what I would expect for a greeter at a steakhouse but it is a college town so whatever. We entered a warmly lit room with a good amount of tables. We ordered a wedge salad and prime rib. My husband ordered a full baked potato and I ordered the sweet potato. Our wedge salad arrived and upon inspection we both said that it was the largest and strangest looking wedge we had ever been served as it was upside down and the dressing was very odd. It was supposed to be blue cheese but it tasted bland, felt more like watered down mayo than a dressing. I took my first bite and besides the dressing, the bacon had a very odd flavor. We moved it aside and tried to eat it but neither of us could eat much of it. Then our steaks arrived and I took one look at my sweet potato and just had to laugh. It looked like they dipped the potato in some kind of batter and deep fried it! Why do that to my sweet potato!? Haha It made no sense. I opened the sweet potato and thankfully it was fine... Okay now with a heavy sigh I stared at my prime rib with shaved horseradish in a pile on one side of my steak. This was yet another perplexing situation.. it was truly raw in the sense that it was not even peeled.. just freshly grated. Beyond that it had no kick.. the waitress told us that we could mix it with sour cream if we wanted, as they did not offer creamy horseradish! Haha It was an entire comedy of errors. So I tried my best to mix the horseradish with the sour cream... it had no flavor. Then I inspected my prime rib a little closer and found half of it to be fat or grisly. I looked back at my salad at this point trying to figure out which of these items I could actually eat. The sweet potato was actually fine but nothing special. So here is where I sit with this restaurant. It may be what people like.. I wasn't a fan. It was convenient but I would not classify this as a great steakhouse. I feel someone needs to revamp the recipes because I have seen others review this restaurant and we are all on the same page with the wedge salad.

I ordered the eight ounce New York Steak with Onion Rings as the side. It was pretty good. I don't understand the negative reviews for the steaks here. Mine was the princely sum of $18.99. One cannot expect a prime steak for $18.99. The onion rings were good, too. It's full bar with a variety of beers, so all of your booze groups are covered. It being 11:00 a.m., I opted for an iced tea. Ambience wise, it's spacious with a western theme. The service was friendly and good. Bottom line: I'd eat here again the next time I'm in town.

For food, the calmari frita it was called but it was squid, some kind of white fish, shrimp along with fried, thinly sliced red onion, bell pepper and jalapeño. GET THIS, one of the best things of the night! When you do get it, make sure you get bites of the chopped veggie mixture that's buried under all the fried goodness, thank me later. Main course, we got the Parillada de Buenos Aires, this is where the issues start, our waiter said we were able to sub out a couple of the items on platter as tripe and sweetbreads (the glands of a veal if you weren't aware) are not things we enjoy. So we swapped them out for a chicken milenesa and a grilled chicken breast. It also came with 1 each of the sides that were pretty basic, and honestly lacked flavor in comparison (rice, potato salad, house salad, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies). Then the meats it comes with, a half chicken, a 12 oz skirt steak, 4 short ribs, some other grilled cut of meat (menu doesn't specify what kind) and a variety of sausages. The waiter, through super nice, totally messed up the substitutions. He brought them out but from the time ordered to the time we ate was about an hour, and for the correct food to come out took even longer. The food itself was pretty good, meats had great flavor and the milenesa when it came out was hot and juicy. The meats didn't need any dipping sauce because they were that well seasoned. Dessert we had the lemon "cheesecake" which was just a lemon cake with a cream cheese type frosting, not at all what you think of with a cheesecake.

Fun pictures and neon signs all around the shop, and the butcher is just in the back so you know it's fresh!! Great crew super friendly and service was fast. Now the actual burger. The toasted brioche bun, double stacked meat perfectly crispy in the smash burger style with American cheese, thick leafy lettuce, a couple tomatoes, perfect amount of onion, thick crisp pickles, and custom fry-sauce-esque "farmhouse sauce" was just *chefs kiss*!!!
