A humble sandwich shop that serves delicious subs and breakfast all day long. While the location is not my first pick for lunch (it's connected to a gas station behind the hospital) this unassuming sandwich shop delivers a great sandwich. The bread was soft, the meats and cheeses were packed in and delicious and the service was decent and quick. I added marinated mushrooms to my club met and I'm so glad I did because they are flavorful and add a nice zing. I'd love to come back and try out their breakfast sandwiches. Wish they had more places of these around there's one here and one there Kind of just scattered throughout Utah but not enough of them. I had their double play breakfast sandwich this morning. I added hashbrowns and ham it comes with sausage and bacon, American cheese and 2 eggs on a Kaiser roll it was absolutely delicious and it was actually deliver to my doorstep my DoorDash person did a great job as well. It arrived at to my doorstep nice and hot. I enjoyed every bite. The regular lunch sandwiches are really really good as well. Definitely not a basic sandwich. I used to order these for all of my students at BYU for breakfast on Fridays. They love them, I must say though if you order a large quantity they kind of skip out on product but if you're just ordering for yourself, they make a perfect sandwich. You gotta try the New York style sandwiches. I am not going to give any points for customer service because that wouldn't be good. They make a great sandwich but sometimes the person handling the order is not very happy but like I said the sandwiches are worth the lack of smile on the other end. read more

Located in a Chevron but don't let that put you off. This was my first Gandolfos and I was pretty impressed with the menu. Started with the Big Apple just 'cause it was at the top of specialty menu and sounded good, for $6 you get about the size of a Subway footlong (considering all the meat stuffed in it), and better quality. Pretty good stuff. Went back for a breakfast sandwich which was the real winner though. I was suspect of the light fluffy kaiser roll at first but it actually was perfect for dumping basically a veggie and cheese omelet on top of (the East Village). 5 bucks, you can get a bagel sammich for that price as well but you have to sacrifice one of the two eggs. Some cheapo deals hidden inside like a half sandwich combo meal for $7, or you can get a 4" mini-sandwich or hot dog in a combo for $5. I drive ten miles each way, past at least one other Gandolfo's, to come to this one at 500 West and 800 North in Provo. Why? They make the best Reuben sandwich that I have ever eaten--the meat, sauer kraut, sauces, etc.--all done to perfection. It's also nice to walk in and have the staff recognize me and immediately know what my order will be. I attribute that to the frequency with which I have come to eat here. Quality food. There was a time that I loved Gandalfo's. There were 2 location then: one in SLC and the other in Provo. Then the franchising began, and I felt the quality falter. The meatballs that were once lovingly shaped by the frail hands of a 90 year old Italian woman who smelt of oregano were now unceremoniously dumped frozen from a bag. It wasn't the same, but acceptable. One of the many, many franchises is 102 steps from my office, and it was a good place for a quick lunch. One day, however, they told me I couldn't have my sandwich on the bread I wanted even though 1) the menu specified it came on the kaiser, and 2) they had some on hand. For 2 years I've quit them, and felt dirty going back today, but I was too lazy for another option. My sandwich was still consigned to the hero, but the bread was good. I felt like it was expensive for what I got. I still can't like it because fond memories get in the way, but maybe less ardently than I did. read more

It takes all the guesswork out of the ordering process. You decide what kind of meat you want, and choose from their endless lists of combos. The indecisive would be paralyzed here. Pick a single sandwich, a bag of chips and/or a deli salad, with a soda, and you've gotcherself a combo. Gandolfo's love their combos. They offer a New York Favorites line, which includes several options...focused mainly on pastrami or corned beef. They do bagel sandwiches for the breakfast offerings; AND, bonus, you can order them any time of day. Their bread and rolls vary depending on the sandwich you choose; but they will always change up the bread for you if you ask. I love rye, and typically request whatever I'm ordering on that. Service is consistently friendly, but you'll likely wait a bit for a sandi if you're there around lunchtime. It's a popular joint with the fellas, primarily. There's usually an office full of hungrymen in line in front of me. That says something, too...the food fills you up. Nothing skimpy about the yum coming out of Gandolfo's. They do have a drive-thru, and parking is at a premium as it's located inside a gas station. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Plus, they provide a punch-card for the loyals to get a free sandi once you achieve something like 10-12 punches. You can order directly from their website for pick-up, or opt for delivery (limited hours & area) on a minimum order of $10. I used to like the sandwiches, but my last two experiences have been below average. Sandwich rolls are microwaved for "hot sandwiches" and minimal meat is used. It also took forever to make the sandwich when only a few people were ahead of my order. What I didn't like about this place: $5-8 a half sandwich that is like 6 inches. Sandwich is served hot, but the bread isn't toasted, it's like it's been microwaved. Quality of the ingredients suck. Too much sauce. Soggy "breaded chicken" clearly came from a freezer and had that spongy texture to it. So my family and I stopped here for the first time today and all I can say is wow! The service was fast, the staff was friendly, and the food was amaze-balls! I ended up getting the 6 inch Urban Cowboy sandwhich ($6) with cheddar cheese instead of the pepper jack. It was stuffed with tons of meat and a generous amount of cream cheese. I can see why it's a popular sandwhich. The prices are a little spendy but worth it. I'd recommend going on Groupon to save yourself some bucks but if money's not an issue than go ahead and splurge! :) I would highly recommend stopping here :) there's a gal who says she's been there for about 3 years. She's very patient and explained the menu to us. The menu looks a little intimidating but fear not. It hurts me to even consider writing a bad review about this place because of the history I have with it and its original owner. I have frequented this location and others for many many years. I pulled up and requested a sandwich with extra meat. She started trying to charge me for each individual meat not just extra for all of it. I asked why they're pricing it like that when no other location is and she decided to be condescending. So I left and will not be returning to this location. The last couple times I've been to this location their quality has suffered greatly and their staff is piss poor at best. The lady at the register was very very rude and condescending, (at 8:00p.m on 09/30/17)it was our very first time in this place I said hello and not only she did not answered but looked at us like we were bothering her, when I asked what was inside a sandwich she gave me attitude and said it says in the menu. Just don't go when they are about to close. I ordered a hot dog about 30 minutes before they closed and no joke after waiting for it I get back a cold hotdog with toppings on it. I love, have loved, and always will love Gandolfo's. The ever-expanding array of franchises has allowed me to be able to pick my favorite locations for specific sandwiches, meal times, and service. While the Original location in Provo, at University and Center, has the best atmosphere and great selection, and the location in American Fork is closest to my house and gives me unlimited potato salad or broccoli cheese salad if I eat in house, this one is close to work for me, and has a few absolutely screaming deals that make it good for me to go to. First, the "buy one sandwich, get a half for a dollar after 5pm" is the best deal out there. I can buy a half sandwich for 4-6 bucks, and get another half for a dollar. Being that a whole costs 7-9 bucks, this saves a few dollars, and you can sample two different sandwiches for the cost of one! (I recommend the Big Apple and Urban Cowboy, two of my favorites). The other great deal is the 99 cent drive-thru 32 ounces drink special. And they have diet Dr. Pepper. So, to sum up: great sandwiches, good deals. read more
