The subs were definitely top tier, but the people and service make it so much better. We stopped in not realizing that we got there 5 minutes before close and they still served us with a smile. As always, the sandwiches were delicious (Queen Cristo for the Mrs and Queen of Italy for me), and the staff were engaging and amazing as always. They even remembered me even though it's been a while! I had to come on and add another piece of high praise, though. I got a piece of their carrot cake and I was in heaven! Most carrot cake is either dry and crumbly or dense and gluey- but SQ's carrot cake was absolutely perfect!! Moist and light, perfect cream cheese icing that was not overly sweet... I've seen this cute sandwich shop since it's opening in 2022. I finally made my first purchase today and it was absolutely worth it! I'm sad I didn't try it earlier. The bread is soft but holds together well. The meat is plentiful and I love that they add salt and pepper to the sandwich. The staff were nice and quick to making my order. Don't just scroll past this questionable pic I got a feel good story. I was out and about with my parents last Saturday and saw a sandwich shop in Payson, called the Sandwich queen. Due to the progression of my disease there ain't many solid foods I'm allowed to eat anymore. Turkey Sandwiches with basically nothin on em is my new jam. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the very charismatic and friendly Wayman. He motioned to the board with many delicious sounding gourmet sandwiches. We were chatting about all sorts of things when the subject of my pretty bare sandwich came up. We explained to Wayman my Gastroparesis. His eyes lit up and he exclaimed "I'm gonna make u something you can eat!" Said he'd study what I could have (Gastroparesis #1&2 diet) and have me something by the next week. We went off and had a fabulous lunch with the Philly and Queen Cristo I was able to eat a lot of the Queen. Then the next week I came and Mr. Wayman made me a Philly I could have! I haven't been able to have one in YEARS! He purée it for me and it turned into a delicious soup with all the ingredients of a Philly. This is one crappy disease but having proprietors like Wayman helping me feel normal means the absolute world. Thank you to everyone at the Sandwich Queen, you have a special place in my heart for sure. Please visit them and try them out for yourself, this mom n pop shop sure is something special! read more
