I was traveling from out of town and I found this place. I got the seafood explosion with double cauliflower mash (I have a ketoish diet). First of all let me thank whoever was savvy enough to understand that sometimes we just want double of the same side. The meal was to go and was great! The seafood tasted fresh and super flavorful the cauliflower mash was the best I have ever had in my life (would love the recipe). We got lucky finding this place while in town. All I can say is WOW the food here is so good. We knew it was a good sign when we walked in on a Wednesday night and the place was full. I order the Ahi Tuna Tartare and it was so fresh and delicious!!!! Then I ordered the roast prime rib sliders with horseradish and Au jus. These sliders were just heavenly and I could eat about 10 of them and still want more. My coworker ordered the house guacamole made fresh to order!!! This guacamole puts 90% of Mexican restaurants to shame. This is a must if you like guacamole. For the main entry cajun jambalaya served over linguine verse the traditional rice. Very very good!! I've been going to Madrones every football Sunday for years and TODAY the mgr advises bartenders to cut the drinks off, we had a party of 12 people. Everyone drank what they want but because a few of us got loud(again FOOTBALL SUNDAY) the mgr decides to cut us all off! There was no cursing or fighting just excitement. I'm so sorry to give this such a low rating but I was completely underwhelmed by the food and vibe of this place. Madrones was recommended to me by several people as a must go when visiting Frederick. However the food was bland and under cooked and just "meh." I ordered the ribs and fries my boyfriend ordered a seafood combo dish. Just very underwhelming, didn't appear like it was super fresh. We likened it to an over priced Ruby Tuesday's. The cloth napkins also smelled dirty like when you forget to put the laundry in the dryer and it too long in the washer I give to notched for the services so you may want to ask for paper napkins. Our server was very good and attentive so the stars are mostly for her. It's not that I wouldn't recommend this place or that it was so awful. But good perhaps to meet up if you're just going for a drink and you haven't been there in a long time and just want to go support a local restaurant. What a gem!!! We walked in and was wowed by how busy it was for only 5:30 on a Saturday. Thankful we made reservations for a party of 4. I loved the atmosphere and energy. Is it good? Who knows!? Reservation attempts were a disaster. The person on the phone says to make reservations online. (Why? I'm TALKING TO YOU NOW. Unreal.) Also, she said it 100% dismissively. The online reservation system doesn't allow for times. It has only "lunch" or "dinner". And it says everything is booked. Hey, ever heard of OpenTable or any other turnkey systems? My husband and I went to Madrones last October for our anniversary. I ordered the crab cakes, which our waitress said was her favorite. When it arrived it did not look anything like a Maryland crab cake. It was flattened, grey and tasted like someone one would get out of state and in a cafeteria. Maryland is known for it's crab cakes and this fell short..by a mile. My husbands meal looked nothing like it was described on the menu. We won't be going back there. I visited Madrones after my parents had raved about it for weeks- I gotta say, they were right! This place is awesome. I arrived on a Sunday morning for brunch and was instantly seated by our hostess. The lighting inside is dim and the atmosphere is overall cozy, they even have a fireplace located in the back on the right side of he restaurant. I ordered the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict and oh my, it was amazing. It featured an English muffin topped with lump crab meat, a poached egg, old bay spices, and delicious hollandaise sauce. It was served with home fries as a side. It was a ton of food and left me completely satisfied. I also ordered their house mimosas, which actually tasted as though they use decent champagne, unlike a lot of other brunch places which use the cheapest stuff possible. We had 3 meals -- crabcake sandwich, a pasta and beef concoction . . . and jambalaya. Drinks were strong, service very good. The crabcake was ok, but seemed " a little off," fairly common problem with crab it seems this season. The pasta and beef was nicely done and flavorful. But the jambalaya . . . oh, the jambalaya! The ingredients . . . sausage, shrimp, chicken, veggies, sauce . . . were very good and I ate it all . . . but all the while thinking something was wrong . . . the linguine was overcooked and downright mushy, ruining the normal jambalaya ingredients. Then after we left it hit me -- LINGUINE!!! Who makes jambalaya with LINGUINE???!!! It's supposed to be over RICE!!! I've since checked every jambalaya recipe in the world, I think, and every one calls for RICE!!! Service We arrived there, a little before 3 pm and were seated in the booth opposite the Host station. We sat there for 10 minutes with our menu reviewing it. Once we had made our decisions, we were then looking around for our waiter. This was utterly frustrating. We were the only ones seated in that section. I called over to the Host to ask for a waiter. Did I mention that she was busy twirling at her station and leisurely talking to another waiter?? At that point in time, two waiters suddenly appeared- one took our drink order and other took our meal selection. Within 15-20 minutes we were served our meals and drinks Food I ordered the Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables with a sweet teriyaki type sauce. My meal was definitely tasty and salmon seasoned well. However, the sauce was a bit too sweet. I wish I had known that the sauce was poured on the entire meal so that I could ask for it to be on the side. My mom ordered the Seafood explosion. Everything was great on her plate but the Seafood explosion was supposed to have Red Snapper- she said that it tasted like Tilapia. You can find the prices online and they're pretty decent. We ordered tiger wings, buffalo wings, house salad, and fried calamari. There were about 8 wings in each plate, which is probs less than the pound and a half we were promised (sad). The buffalo ones were as expected, I liked that the sauce was baked into it so it wasn't just runny. The tiger wings were amazing. They had a sweet and tangy taste, but also a surprise little kick.
