The food is always good here. Tried to call to do a reservation for a party of 8. They said they don't do same day reservations and can only do call a heads 1/2 ahead for party of 6 or less. Their call hold recording says nothing about same day reservation restrictions and makes a reservation sound like it's no problem. No sweat, we'll go do Fratelli's instead. Talk about killing it! Wife and I just happened to be in town. And we're looking for a place we've never been. Man are we glad we found Madrones. I'm so glad we didn't listen to the dumb yelp reviews talking about the staff not being attentive! Hanna was absolutely amazing and very attentive! Firstly they modified a dish even though it was a weird request. Secondly, my wife had the Asian Salmon and thought it was amazing. I had the Beef tenderloin and it was amazing ( though I could do without the mushrooms-Next time I'll ask ) Don't even get me started on the peanut butter Pie!!!! Had a disappointing experience at Madrone's tonight. I ordered their Mahi Mahi special and it came to me almost raw. This is on top of the mashed potatoes being unpalatable due to the excessive salt (ended up getting a baked potato instead). The server, Kendra, was wonderful and offered to send the manager over. The manager never showed up so Kendra ended up comping my portion of the meal. It's unacceptable for a manager to not address this. This plate was food poisoning waiting to happen. read more

I asked for my chicken wings to be fried hard, but they were not. The waitress took them back for me, but when she returned with the wings, they were the same wings that I sent back. I bit 2 of the wings and broke open about 5 of them, so I knew they were the same wings. We asked to speak to the manager and we were met by the owner Chip Motley who was very rude as soon as he came to our table. He had the audacity to say he was tired of dealing with me, but this was his first time having to come to our table. He proceeded to say they do not cook wings hard. I been to this establishment many times so I know they cook the wings a little longer. He sat there and argued with me instead of recooking the wings. He definitely showed his true colors! He had audacity to tell us to never come back to his restaurant, no worries.....I will never spend another penny in this restaurant. I will make sure my friends never step foot in this restaurant. Have been there for lunch dozens of times but went for dinner the other day and will never go back. I know that sounds harsh but there are just too many other choices in Frederick. Our $44 steak was mostly grisly and fatty and - even worse - the service was appalling to the point of rudeness. We were ignored and had to find other staff to bring our water and drinks. And it got worse from that point on. I'm really sorry to say that my experience has soured me on that place forever. read more

Completely ruined our family's night on a day we were celebrating a birthday!!! I am absolutely livid! We called two days ahead to make reservations and to make sure they could accommodate our party of 15 on a Saturday evening. I even asked more than once to make sure! We were confidently told that they dont take reservations but to call back the morning of when they open to put our name down. We called the day of, shortly after they opened, and was now told that they do not take call ahead for a party of 15 after 5pm but that we could walk in and wait. The expected wait time would be 1 to 2hrs. We were ok with this and so we arrived at 5:50pm only to be told they were full and couldn't seat us for atleast for 2 to 3hrs. We were told conflicting information not once but TWICE that lead 15 people to have to find another dinner location last minute on a Saturday evening. Not only was this a HUGE inconvience but it was also a complete waste of time and gas! read more

We made reservations for 11 people and were seated as soon as the whole party was present, fifteen minutes early, which was extremely nice. We had two servers due to the large party and service was good and efficient. Our servers were extremely friendly as well, and the food was excellent. Made the mistake of ordering the seafood daily special. I had forgotten this is what is generally done with aging food. I thought the scallops tasted a little strange; but I failed to speak up. I was abruptly awakened with severe chills during the night with an eventual high fever and vomiting twice. I went to lunch this afternoon at Madrones. When perusing the menu, I saw the picture of a beautiful crabcake, so I decided to order that. Not only was there no comparison, I'm not sure what the patty on that bun was. My closest guess was a fried tuna fish salad patty. It was mushy and tasteless. The bright spot was our waitress. She was so sweet and efficient, even when my sister was a little rude to her (nothing our waitress did). I would expect a so called crabcake like that in Idaho, where they don't know any better. But in Maryland? Are you kidding me? And if you're proud of it the way you serve it, then put a real picture of your crabcake on your menu. read more

OK...wanted to update my review...see told you guys I would, lol This go round I had the lobster bisque as a starter which was very creamy & had huge chunks of lobster....excellent! For the main course I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger came with pickles, lettuce, tomato and onions. The brioche bun was nice & soft. I ordered my burger medium well & it was perfect...not to dry or to juicy. The bacon was cooked just right & the cheddar cheese added a great flavor. The burger was so big, I had to cut the burger in half because it was huge. I was only able to eat one half & decided to take the other half home but ended up leaving it at the restaurant (insert sad face) I tasted a few of the other menu items: My cousin ordered the Caesar salad which I took a few forkfuls; the sundried tomatoes were an excellent addition. My mom ordered her usual roasted chicken but subbed the mashed potatoes for the roasted brussels sprouts (didn't taste those, not a fan of brussels sprouts ) but she seemed to enjoy it very much. She also ordered a side order crab cake, I tasted a forkful; I think I'll order the crab cake sandwich next time. Last thing, they have a chocolate cake w/ ice cream that is AWESOME!!! The cake is so moist it just melts in your mouth. The ice cream is just an added bonus. Couldn't even set a reservation. We had 8 people for a birthday celebration, but they won't allow that large of a group between 3pm and 8pm.

The food is always delicious . We ordered takeout and the order was perfect, no mistakes. There were 11 of us all ordering different dinners. I had the Jumbalaya with linquine and shrimp. Unfortunately, you didn't get the add-ons like extra shrimp and a crab cake for takeout. That was okay but I wished they had said that on the online order before we ordered. The Jumbalaya wasn't that spicy but it was okay. The sausage was good & spicy just the way it should be. My husband had the crabcake. He said it was good with little fillers. Another diner had the salmon cake and said it was good. All the other meals were reported as good. The servers were excellent and we didn't feel ignored and this was a Saturday night. read more
