It was basically a strawberry smoothie with tapioca pearls and a creme brulee top I was pretty bummed with this drink honestly. It seemed more like a strawberry slush than a smoothie. I could tell they used fresh strawberries but I wished there was less blended ice so I could taste more of the strawberries. The creme brulee top was extremely thick in consistency and seemed almost like thick whip cream. There was slight burnt sugar on top so it seemed to have a creme brulee resemblance. However, it didn't remind me or taste like creme brulee at all unfortunately. The price for their drinks are on the higher side but it's reasonable with the promo code. It was empty when we got there which is surprising cuz there's a long line outside of Auntea Jenny. We ordered the King of Mango Smoothie and Crack Top Brûlée TGY Oolong Milk Tea with 3Q (boba, coconut jelly, & Bo-bo). It took a while for them to prepare our drinks, but it tasted really good cuz it was freshly made. Kinda wish they have a different lid for the crack top brûlée drink tho cuz it's hard to taste the brûlée cream. They have happy hour Monday-Friday from 2-5 pm. Not sure what's the promo for it tho. I am glad to see that Macu Tea has moved its storefront from Pasadena to San Gabriel. It is now more convenient for me to visit! I really like their drinks, especially from the Li-Li series and Milk Tea series. They specialize in premium real fruit tea, so I would definitely recommend trying a fruity drink for first timers. Tea quality is pretty good and the drink flavors taste fresh and natural. The sugar level and ice level can be completely adjustable. For toppings, there is a decent selection. My favorite topping is their green tea jelly, while my husband really likes their bo-bo agar boba. These toppings pretty much work well with any drink. One small con is that they do charge for bags. Even if you order many drinks, you'll have to pay if you want a bag to hold them. From my experience, all other bubble tea shops give free bags. read more

My sisters and I decided to go grab Macu Tea in San Gabriel. This plaza contains four separate boba stores, which is insane, and I wonder how each boba store manages to thrive in this plaza. We got the King of Mango Smoothie, QQ Passion Fruit Drink, and Orange & Mango Li-Li Tea. The drinks are pretty costly. However, the mangoes have a robust and pleasant flavor. When we visited to the Pasadena store, we asked the manager if Macu Tea would ever open a location in the Alhambra or San Gabriel area. I'm delighted it opened in San Gabriel and is close by. There's underground parking structure with many spots. Customers primarily order at the self-service kiosk. Staff works hard in the background. My drink took about five minutes. As mentioned, I ordered the King of Mango Smoothie ($8.75 - Light Sweetness). At its core, the quality is wonderful. The ingredients taste very fresh and this chill drink is reinvigorating as it slips through parched lips. However, it's not a bold drink. It's mild and lightly sweetened. It politely lets you savor each ingredient. With each continued sip, the drink develops and at journey's end, you find a faint smile adorning your lips. On ambiance, Macu Tea (San Gabriel) is small and cramped. There's one tiny stool table, four chairs, and one bench. I enjoyed the upbeat music. And the location is clean and well-ventilated. Having tried their spot in Pasadena, my wife and I visited their new spot here in SGV during their grand opening weekend. Their promo for the grand opening was BOGO with free toppings which we had to get a hold of. Located in the a very VERY busy plaza, you'll find yourself staring at each corner of the plaza as there's just SO MANY tea spots to choose from. Inside is basically just a small shop, not much space, no tables and just bench seating by the wall and two small chairs. Ideal to wait outside as it can get quite congested fast. My wife and I ordered two drinks, Golden Leaf Milk Tea and the Peach Black Milk Tea. Both with toppings - Green Tea Jelly and Boba respectively. Since it was grand opening, wait times were a bit long but not too long. Our drinks came out within 15 minutes or so and staff was pretty friendly throughout the whole time we were there. Plus points for being quick as well. Drinks were just like the ones in Pasadena. Tea flavor is not too overwhelming and very smooth overall. Boba weren't super hard and was easy to chew. I visited on National Boba Day bc they were offering BOGO on boba milk tea drinks. I've always visited the Pasadena location bc it was the most authentic boba on that street. Visiting this location in particular, it does feel like a downgrade bc there's a bunch of other options along this street. The store itself doesn't seem that appealing bc half of the store just looks like storage lol. Not too much space if standing around or wanting to sit and drink, so it's more to-go. I went ahead and got the the tieguanyin and peach black milk tea. They ran out of boba when I visited. The girl who took my order, she was more fluent in English, seemed to have a good grasp of operations around the boba shop, but the other who isn't that fluent lowkey seems to be confused working around here lol. They told me it would take 10 mins for fresh boba, so by the time with all the confusing and order and getting the incorrect drinks, I should have prob just gotten boba by then... but also didn't want to fuss about it even more lol. The ACE strawberry avocado smoothie was pretty bitter and not in a good way but was smooth creamy, a bit icy, nutty, avocadoy, chunky, had a bright sweet strawberry puree, and qq agar bobas at the bottom. For an opening day with a bogo deal they weren't fully prepared. It was around 6ish pm and we went and wanted the King of Mango smoothie for $8.95 bogo deal but they were out and the only one available was the strawberry bo bo smoothie so I ordered that for $8.95 bogo deal but when I asked why it was taking so long apparently they ran out of strawberry so my only option was another drink altogether or wait for them to buy more strawberries for my order. We were already there for 30 minutes and I was enjoying my lamb skewers from another store I opted to wait. 20 minutes later I see them bringing in mangoes and strawberries so I asked to switch them all to mango smoothies instead. After literally waiting for 58 minutes we got our king of the mango smoothies to go. They were really good and tasty. I'll definitely be back again and I hope they stock up on all the best mangoes available in the SGV for their smoothies. This strip mall has plenty of parking but they also have street parking. We would've gladly paid for separate orders, but the store manager made the point that they saw us come in together so we were only allowed a single $1 promo. While we were waiting for our order, we realized that the customer before us was able to get multiple because they were rung up by another employee who ended up getting told off by the manager to only do one per group. After wanting to try Macu for a while, the drinks were only decent. Even though I've had bad experiences with other tea store promos, the experience today left me with a bad taste with Macu and I won't be returning anytime soon. Where do I even start? On their Instagram post it said the first 100 CUSTOMER get to buy a drink(excluding some) for $1 but that is NOT the case. It is only one $1 drink per GROUP. I did order a drink at full price, the orange mango tea, since it was excluded from the promo. It was pricey and really nothing special besides the fresh mangoes in the drink. This is probably one of the most unorganized boba shops I've ever been to. First, the $1 deal only applies to one drink per person in your entire party. Second, the "first 100 customers" rule apparently doesn't just apply to the $1 promotion--people ordering at full price through the kiosk are still being counted toward the first 100, which makes no sense.
