I've tried a few drinks at Moncha Cafe. I liked the drinks and had a good experience here. DRINKS I tried the Assam Milk Tea and the Ube Milk Tea. Both tasted great. I asked to adjust the sweetness to a lower level and I thought it was perfect. My drinks came in rectangular shaped cups that don't fit in car cup holders. If you think cup shape will be an issue, make sure to ask them if they can give you "normal" cups INSIDE It's spacious and relaxed in there. The Boba SGV Passport offers 1 Free Seasonal drink + 1 free Assam Milk Tea w/ 1 Topping. What a great deal! I ordered their seasonal Lavender Milk Tea with oat milk at 50% sweetness. I also ordered the Assam Milk Tea w/ Osmanthus Jelly with oat milk, less ice, and at 50% sweetness. The Lavender Milk Tea was floral and creamy. You can definitely taste the lavender. The location has limited parking, but we were lucky to snag a spot. We came late on a Saturday and it was almost full. Many people were there studying. On July 29th, I altered my route so I could come by to support this business. They are an asset to the community, offering a place to work, study, or leisure time to meet up with friends. I ordered a Strawberry Matcha Iced Latte ($7.50), Tempura Shrimp (6 piece $6) and Seasoned Fries ($5). My food was made to order, fresh, hot and crunchy shrimp and crisp fries. Each came with a dipping sauce of Ranch Dressing or Sweet Chili Oil. Service is great at the counter or at the Kiosk, which has photos and the products categorized for easy browsing, ordering and payment. Moncha has a rewards program for loyal customers. I made a quick stop by to grab their Strawberry Jasmine Green tea x Sakura boba. It was light and refreshing. Their popcorn chicken was decent bit crispier than most popcorn chicken in the entire valley. I won't it order again. Staff was nice, attentive and professional. I arrived at Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) on Tuesday - May 12, 2026 (at 12PM - Opening Time). The location was DIRTY! I quickly found parking in the small lot; it fits about 15 cars. Staff interaction felt nonexistent. Customers primarily order at the Self-Service Kiosk. I dislike how the kiosk requires a cell phone number to proceed. My drink took two minutes and 45 seconds. Quick. As mentioned, I ordered the Iced Flower Tea ($5) with Brown Sugar Agar Boba (additional 75 cents). YUM! The Iced Flower Tea is a combination of Chrysanthemum, Chrysanthemum buds, Osmanthus, and Gomphrena Amaranth Flowers. The tea is honey-like, crisp, and thirst quenching. Concerning the boba, it's floral with a grape-like texture; it's an acquired taste. On ambiance, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) has wonderful potential. For example, I absolutely LOVE the plentiful electrical outlets, MANY boardgames for customers, and plush seating. There's also customer internet with password; details proudly displayed on the counter. And there's a gender neutral restroom. The lighting and art is also attractive. Unfortunately, during my visit, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) reminded me of an unmaintained, public city bus. I have seen "B Grade" Businesses that are cleanlier... The crevices and corners are littered with crumbs; parts of the tables are sticky; the couches and cushions are entangled with long, old hair. Overall, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) is not bad. I genuinely enjoyed their tasty, affordable tea. However, I don't feel comfortable enough to return if they're unable to maintain a standard of cleanliness. This spot is very generous with its seating! We came here with the intention to play board games. We sat down at a small table and ordered our drinks. The employee noticed and helped us expand the table to two times the normal table. I got the Midnight Jasmine Milk Tea and the employee mentioned the difference between the Midnight Jasmine Milk Tea and Jasmine Green Milk Tea is that they use a more bubble gummy sweetener. The employee recommended 70% sweet since it tends to be on the sweeter side. I have to agree that the drink has a floral flavor with a bubble gum aftertaste which makes the drink unique. This time I got their sesame balls, veggie egg rolls, oolong pandan milk tea, ube latte, and pistachio milk to try. The sesame balls had lightly crisp exteriors with a chewy mochi interior and a bit of red bean filling. The veggie egg rolls were also nicely crisp and had a savory veggie filling and came with a sweet sticky dipping sauce. Reminded me of the ones I like from yoshinoya. The pandan oolong milk tea had a nice light balance of tea and pandan flaves. The ube latte was super pretty, smooth, milky, and had light nutty vanillay ubey flaves but my fave was probably the pistachio milk that had lots of sweet strong pistachio flaves and I got it with an extra drizzle of chocolate to make it extra sweet and yummy hehe. I stopped by in the afternoon on a Friday to get some work done. As someone who is very sensitive to caffeine, I was happy to see lots of caffeine-free options. I opted for the strawberry floral tea (caffeine-free due to chrysanthemum tea base) with brown sugar agar boba and popcorn chicken with Chinese bbq seasoning. The employee brought my drink and food directly to my table. I was surprised by the boba because I originally thought it was brown sugar OR agar boba but they flavor their agar boba with brown sugar. Agar boba is not my favorite, but it's good with the brown sugar! The Assam milk tea was pretty solid and had a creamy feel. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. I would order it again during another visit. We also tried the seasonal watermelon green tea mojito which was refreshing during the summer but the green tea taste was more mild than expected. For the fries, I mixed honey butter and chinese bbq. The flavor was really good! They gave me a spicy powder too that added this chinese lamb skewer taste to it. The powder combo had a nice balance of spicy, sweet and savory bbq. A big portion too for $5. My main compliant would be the size of the powder. My friend and I decided to co-work here at Moncha Cafe on a Friday afternoon. I got the Honey Flower Tea, which seems to be a blend of flowers. It taste just like chrysanthemum and osmanthus, which I believe are in the blend. It's brewed very well and not overly sweetened with honey, the ratio is just right! They offer plenty of appetizer snacks as well. The pictures don't do this place justice. The cafe is much nicer, brighter, and more spacious in person than how it looks from the outside and on yelp photos. They have long tables, outlets, and comfortable couch seatings that makes it a good spot to work, study, and even hang at! I also tried their Brazilian limeade, or limeade with condensed milk. I didn't really love either drink, as I felt the midnight flower tea was a little too bitter while the ratio between the lime and condensed milk in the limeade felt off. Came here on a Saturday night and got a milk tea with brown sugar boba and popcorn chicken. The guy at the cashier was very friendly and helpful with and questions I had about the menu. When the popcorn chicken got sent to the wrong table he quickly noticed and ran out to bring it over to me. The milk tea was perfect and not too sweet. I went at around 10:30pm Tuesday night, and there was a good amount of people here! The room space is very spacious and has plenty of seating, great for those who want to sit and chat or study. I tried out the Peppermint Bark Oolong Milk Tea and Popcorn Chicken. Peppermint Bark Oolong Milk Tea - I thought it was an interesting combination between peppermint and oolong, but it worked! I was sipping my drink initially didn't taste as much until I stuck a straw in and drank through the ice. At 75% sweet, it was the perfect balance of sweetness and milk tea. Popcorn Chicken - The portion size was pretty generous for being $6! I was also surprised that it came with 3 sauces (bbq, ranch, and sriracha). Personally, I don't use sauces when eating popcorn chicken, but it felt nice to have a variety of options. As for the chicken itself, it's definitely a batter, so not the typical Taiwanese style popcorn chicken if that is what you are expecting. I ordered mine at Spicy level, and I think the amount of chili powder ended up affecting the chicken's crispiness. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken, and will make adjustments next time. They have a variety of toppings like the Sakura Agar Boba, which had the perfect chewy texture!! These translucent pink pearls with a cherry blossom flavor are my favorite!! Handmade Strawberry Jam is added to their Strawberry Matcha (ceremonial grade Matcha from Japan) Latte! I love to get Blooming Tea whenever I get a chance! Such a lovely tea set!! Been waiting for this place to open ever since I saw their new signage, and glad I finally got to try it out! When I entered, the interior was very nice! My favorite color is purple, so I really loved the purple theme inside haha. It also had plenty of tables and chairs and a bathroom. I just ordered their popcorn chicken with Chinese BBQ seasoning. They also had different spice levels (no spice, mild, spicy, and extra spicy), so I just ordered spicy. Order took a few minutes, and when it was done, the employee (or it might've been the owner!) personally handed it to me which was much appreciated! Regarding the popcorn chicken, it's not the typical Taiwanese popcorn chicken that's common at most boba shops. However, I still thought it was tasty! It was hot and had a nice crisp. It had lots of the Chinese BBQ seasoning, and it was actually spicy! Almost every time I ask for spicy at other places, it's barely spicy LOL. It came with 3 sauces: ranch, BBQ, and a red sauce (kinda tasted like a mix between cocktail sauce + sriracha lol). I honestly didn't need the sauces since the chicken was seasoned well! I also thought the portion was quite generous, so for the price ($6.57 including tax), it's very affordable! Overall, would recommend giving this place a try! Drove by this location multiple times and I finally have a chance to try. They have a spacious spot with many tables. You can order from the kiosk or talk to the friendly staff. The owner happened to be there and explained the menu to me. He is Peruvian Chinese so his menu is inspired by that. The midnight milk tea comes from infused purple corn syrup that he makes in house. He was very friendly and offered me a variety of samples to try before ordering. I decided to order the mango green tea for my husband. He said that it was a good mango flavor, but could use more tea. I ordered the midnight jasmine milk tea because I really liked the purple corn syrup that he let me taste. I got that with the Sakura crystal Boba because that was infused with actual Sakura . I liked it a lot. It tasted yummy and not too milky and not too sweet. I also ordered the popcorn chicken. I like that there was a variety of seasoning you can choose. I got the garlic Parmesan for my child since she couldn't eat anything spicy and it was pretty good next time. I really wanna try the Chinese barbecue because it does have a hint of spices and that's what I like. Overall, if you want to come to a place to drink tea, have some snacks and play a variety of games with your friends, then this is the spot. Saw the signage open up months ago when I drove down Valley but wasn't aware that it had recently opened until I saw the lights on one night. Browsed through Yelp and social media and saw that they're currently in their soft opening. Seems like they were in Pasadena in the past and doing catering events and selling out of small businesses - now they finally opened a storefront in Rosemead! Stopped by on a weeknight and ordered a few drinks. Menu is pretty simple with tea, milk tea, coffees, and specialties. I was intrigued about the midnight jasmine green tea, but the barista described it as a bubblegum flavored tea which I wasn't fond of. I ended up ordering the matcha latte, less sugar and ice - $6. This was my favorite drink out of the bunch. Wasn't too sweet, and had a good matcha flavor. I will say that I wished the matcha flavor was a little bit stronger. Would definitely order this again. Oolong milk tea with brown sugar agar boba ($5 + $0.50) with less ice and less sugar. The drink was good, but I felt that there was a lack of oolong tea flavor. It was a little bit on the milkier side. I did enjoy the agar boba, but the brown sugar added an extra sweetness to the overall tea. Assam black milk tea with brown sugar agar boba ($5 + $0.50) - less sugar and ice. I enjoyed this drink! They use nondairy creamer for the teas, which muted the sweetness. I could taste the tea flavor, and the agar went well with the tea. Currently they're having a soft opening promotion for 20% off and a free Assam tea with purchase. The Assam tea almost tasted like an herbal tea. Very refreshing, and not overly sweet. Interior is very spacious with lots of tables for studying or chatting. They have a lot of cute wall art, and I did see some games that customers can play. The workers were very friendly. It would be nice if they eventually add food to the menu. Also would be nice if they have a chewy boba option, as well as a cream top, but that's just my particular preference Parking lot is fairly spacious. Doesn't seem like there is much traffic in this plaza. tl;dr - another new mom and pop boba shop in the SGV! Hoping they continue to improve and be a stable boba shop in the near future. read more
