Strawberry matcha and marble drip coffee
    Lonnie C.

Da Vien is a well known modern Vietnamese coffee shop from Orange County, and so glad they made it to SGV. They have REALLY strong caffeine in their coffee and matcha drinks! Like won't sleep until 2am strong, if that's up your alley. There's usually a crowd on the weekends so expect to wait around 15 min. The bustling atmosphere is a good sign of how much people love this spot. My favorite drinks incorporate ube, though I like to lower the sweetness and ice (there's a ton of ice normally). Unfortunately, the strawberry cream top on my matcha tasted artificial and overly sweet.

Stopped by Da Vien for a quick bite and drink, and it was such a nice little moment. I got the strawberry milk tea along with a croissant sandwich, and both were really enjoyable. The strawberry milk tea was sweet, refreshing, and had a smooth, creamy taste that made it perfect for a casual drink. The croissant sandwich was warm, flaky, and satisfying. It had a nice balance of textures with the soft inside and slightly crisp outside, making it a great pairing with the drink. The vibe here is relaxed and easygoing, making it a good spot to just sit, unwind, and enjoy something simple but good. Overall, a cute and reliable spot when you're in the mood for a light meal and a refreshing drink.

    Ube Coffee

I love that this location is a bit closer to home. I've been going to the Garden Grove location. This is a clean busy location. There are seating both indoors and outdoors. Parking can be difficult since it's in a plaza with other eateries. Luckily there are street parking. Servers are friendly and quick. I really like their drinks! I'm never a Ube person but this is the only place I would order Ube. Their Ube Cream Coffee is amazing! It's not too sweet and so flavorful. The Marble Drip is yummy as well. I see that they're opening new locations and hoping really hard they will open one in Rowland Heights area. For my cravings, I will drive the distance!

My favorite place to get Vietnamese coffee in this area has been Da Vien. It is a little out of the way, closer to the 60 freeway, but ordering on the app is very convenient. I also love that I'm earning points with my purchases. They often have BOGO deals on a random weekday between 2-4 PM. These are really nice deals but who drinks strong coffee in the middle of the day T.T They are certainly expanding as I saw on Instagram that they are opening a new location in norCal (Milipitas?) as well as Alhambra now.

    Matcha einspanner

Solid matcha einspanner. Ive heard mixed reviews about it but its actually really good. Their cream top is a bit thicker than other places which I actually like because it prevents it from sinking into the drink. Crowded on a thursday afternoon, maybe because spring break?

    Egg cream coffee

One of my go-to coffee/matcha chains in the OC an 626 areas. This time, I got the egg cream coffee and it was great! I liked the coffee flavor which was perfectly sweetened for me. I also liked how the flavor wasn't too strong like almost alcoholic in taste I've gotten from other Viet coffees. However, the caffeine level is still strong and my friend was jittery all day so be warned. However, you can lower the caffeine levels upon request. I also got it at regular ice so my drink stayed cold and could dilute a bit which I liked. I also enjoyed the egg cream top which was fluffy and tasted liked a pastry. The interior is pretty clean with some tables and chairs. We went on a Saturday morning so it was quite busy. I'm unsure if there is wifi and outlets, but I did see some people working here. They also having parking in front for free, but it can get packed.

Matcha with ube cream top and egg cream top latte
    Rebecca T.

This is for Da Vien's egg cream latte only: a lovely, modern take on the traditional Vietnamese egg coffee! Café was popping when we went for a post-lunch pick-me-up, but service was friendly and we got our drinks within 10 minutes. Really enjoyed my egg cream latte, with its light and fluffy egg-whipped cream top and seriously STRONG coffee (could get you wired)! Also got the ube matcha, which was tasty enough, but I've had better elsewhere. Definitely go to Da Vien and try their signature egg cream latte!

I came by because of the review from Yelp and Instagram. Parking lot is available in the plaza. Line was long when I got there on a Sunday morning. All the tables were being occupied. I ordered a ube matcha latte and a ham and cheese croissant. The croissant is warm and very tasty! The bread was a bit crispy. I really like it. The ube matcha latte is very disappointing. It was very watery that I could not taste matcha or ube even though I asked for easy on ice. Two stars are for the croissant.

    Katherine S.

Tried the einspanner matcha latte and it was delicious--I really enjoyed the flavor. The ladies I was with were all in the mood for coffee, and we happened to stumble upon this plaza. I'm not much of a coffee person, so I appreciated that they had great non-coffee options too. One thing I'd tweak next time is the sweetness--it was just a bit sweet for my taste, so I'd ask for it to be adjusted. Overall, highly recommend this spot!

    Strawberry Cream Oat Latte
    Viet N.

Good, quality Vietnamese coffee. What more can I say. Da Vien is really setting the standard for me. I stopped by this location on the way to LA on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Even with the crowd, ordering on the kiosk was super easy and we were out in about five minutes, so no complaints there. I wanted to try the new strawberry cream oat latte and it was so delicious. I really love a good berry and espresso combo, and this one hit the spot. Definitely something I'd get again. This location is an easy stop for me whenever I'm heading into LA, and I'll for sure be back the next time I'm in the area.

    Tiffany T.

My husband and I are positively addicted to Da Vien so we've had to limit our visits to weekend mornings. Their matcha is the best fit for our preferences and their banana cream is unmatched. Any time I try another Banana Matcha Latte from elsewhere, I'm disappointed and disgusted. Their new strawberry cream options are also a sweet addition to their menu! I love that I can tailor to less espresso or 50% sweet and ordering through their app has been the most convenient app ordering experience I've had. Side note: I love seeing this corner of the store.

    Jonathan K.

Solid coffee shop with a lot going for it. The menu is extensive, so whether you're in the mood for a classic latte, something more specialty, or even non-coffee drinks, they've got plenty of options to choose from. It's a great spot if you like trying something new each visit! This place can get pretty busy, but the service holds up well considering the volume. The staff keeps things moving, and orders come out at a reasonable pace even during rush times. There's also plenty of seating if you want to hang out, catch up with friends, or get a little work done. It has that nice balance of being lively but still comfortable enough to sit and chat for a while. I recommend ordering online ahead of time, which makes things way faster especially during peak hours. Definitely a clutch option if you're in a hurry.

*Note: TDLR at the end of the review Coconut Matcha: 10/10 Super refreshing! Great on a hot day and nice and light if you're not looking to feel milk heavy. Consistent with other locations I've tried. Service: 7/10 I used the self-service machine, but while I was waiting, they asked me if I needed any help. Everyone seemed super busy. Ambiance: 8/10 Didn't stay to sit, but theres a handful of tables on the inside and a few on the outside on the patio. It looked clean. The music was a bit loud so if you want to study, I'd say bring some headphones. It was also a little chilly inside. Parking was okay. A bit crowded when I went, but I found a spot. TDLR: Super super busy location. Consistent quality with all other locations. May not be the best place to study, but you definitely can. Tables indoor and outdoor. Loud music inside and kinda cold. Parking is okay.

We're pretty sure and deduced it was from the dairy-based desserts and drinks. I had the mango pomelo sago drink. Friend A ordered the mango pomelo sago drink and black sesame soup. Friend B ordered the mango sago. Friend C had the milk tea. And we all ended up with stomach issues. Friend D who didn't eat any milk-based items, only yashixiang lemon tea and some of Friend A's black sesame soup , was completely fine. We also ordered a signature coconut jelly dessert soup to-go for another friend when we were leaving, and they had no issues either. That's why we think it was the batch of milk used in our desserts that caused all of this. It honestly had us going to the bathroom for 2 days! If you're coming here, just be aware--you might end up spending a lot of time in the restroom like we did.

However I personally think souffle is a glorified version of pancake. It's slightly thicker and more fluffy and if you like pancakes there is no reason why you wouldn't like this (other than the price?). The location is in a strip mall next to the bigger 99 Ranch plaza and parking can be difficult to find especially top side but there is a underground parking lot next door. It can still get busy so you may have to park in that plaza and walk over on busy weekends. Just note this place is busy even in the weekday evenings. There are very few tables so if you are coming as a date/family, you may not find a table. The tables are also small so I wouldn't recommend a large group of more than 4. You order via a kiosk and for drinks they will call your order number. For souffle if you dine in, you can take a number stand and place on your table just like some McDonald's. Souffle is not bad and not too sweet especially with the original flavor.

Souffle pancakes in different occasions always look so pretty, are the best everyone's ever had, some some flavor profiles don't work. Maybe that's why the menu sometimes changes. For example the yuzu grape was completely bland because the yuzu drizzle on top was a thin line i couldn't taste at all. At least put a spread between each layer or pour a lot on top like the others (eg berry or mango). The mint leaves was the most potent flavor in this dish. Over the grapes, blueberries, matcha powder, yuzu. Got the mango triple layer drink this time and if you drink it carefully, you can appreciate the contrast from the mango puree, the milk, the creamy salted matcha. If you just mix it up completely you won't get that affect. One thing that bothers me is because the menu changes I seem to always be unable to get something I'm thinking of from the previous visit. I recall last time I had some mochi and rice ball I added to a drink that was so damn good and I couldn't add it this time. Though I recall that drink being $11.50 from the add ons. The souffle pancake was $21... so place is $$ but again the quality is there. Service wise, never interacted with staff really. Kiosk to order. Drinks just sit at counter when done. Didn't call numbers. Oh they did bring the pancake, no words spoken.

For those who are not fans of egg or liquidy golden goodness, you can get the ones without the lava flow (aka, they just call it the "regular mooncake" - note, these are small in size compared to the "lava" ones). Flavors for both the "regular" and "lava" range from regular (contains mung bean paste), Ube, Taro w/ coconut milk, matcha, and black sesame. You can order each flavor on their own or get the 5 piece assorted box set, which is what I did to try each of the flavors out. The regular mooncakes without the lava are more dense because they do not have a space in the middle for the flowing eggy lava custard. I like that they each have that mung bean paste base that's not too sweet, but just slightly different in their flavors depending on which flavor you get. My favorite were the black sesame and the original. For the "lava" mooncakes, it's the same super light and flakiness on the outside with a thin layer of mung bean paste right underneath the flaky layers, then filled generously in the middle with the eggy custard. You must eat it hot or reheat in a toaster oven (if not eating it the same day) for max joy and experience. The lava eggy custard was sweet, but not overly "burn your throat" sweet and slight savory as well. It had a good custard flavor without it being too eggy. Come here for a once-in-a-while splurge when you're in the area. Definitely a treat to be shared!!!
