Sure you can order a bubble tea here, but at Motto Tea Cafe, I think the big question is how long does it take to make a souffle pancake from scratch? When I visited, they were taking about 20 minutes. Mango Sunshine Soufflé Pancake: This really is a triple stack of golden sunshine. Like many have said, it's jiggly and fluffy. When they set the plate on the table, the stack wobbles for a moment. The cake is soft and squishy, definitely entering the classification of a souffle or pudding. The pancake melts in your mouth. Is it a cloud? It's so light and airy. Does it contain meringue? It's also a bit spongy. The stack is topped with a sweet cream and mango sauce. Sweet pineapples, strawberries, and blueberries form a perimeter around the pancakes. Parking: The u-shaped lot is big and it also has underground parking.
Saw this somewhere on social media and wanted to check out their Japanese style soufflé pancakes - very light and fluffy. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but they do have underground parking at the complex. Once inside, there are a few tables, but they fill up quickly when it gets busy. Luckily we can there at a slow time, but it didn't take long for it to get busy - some had to wait outside before ordering. For ordering, you use a kiosk and they bring the food to your table - if eating there. Our drink came quickly but the soufflé took a little while. The soufflé itself was very good. Definitely light and fluffy, with good flavor. Sweet but not overly sweet. Paired well with the strawberries. It's also a decent size - enough for two people. It is a little on the high side in terms of cost - iMO. However it's well made with fresh ingredients. I'm sure the process the make them fluffy and light is delicate. I'm glad I had a chance to try it.
Been to Motto multiple times and the items here from drinks to food items have all been pretty solid! Quality to aesthetics get high marks but sometimes taste is lacking. Souffle pancakes in different occasions always look so pretty, are the best everyone's ever had, some some flavor profiles don't work. Maybe that's why the menu sometimes changes. For example the yuzu grape was completely bland because the yuzu drizzle on top was a thin line i couldn't taste at all. At least put a spread between each layer or pour a lot on top like the others (eg berry or mango). The mint leaves was the most potent flavor in this dish. Over the grapes, blueberries, matcha powder, yuzu. Got the mango triple layer drink this time and if you drink it carefully, you can appreciate the contrast from the mango puree, the milk, the creamy salted matcha. If you just mix it up completely you won't get that affect. One thing that bothers me is because the menu changes I seem to always be unable to get something I'm thinking of from the previous visit. I recall last time I had some mochi and rice ball I added to a drink that was so damn good and I couldn't add it this time. Though I recall that drink being $11.50 from the add ons. The souffle pancake was $21... so place is $$ but again the quality is there. Service wise, never interacted with staff really. Kiosk to order. Drinks just sit at counter when done. Didn't call numbers. Oh they did bring the pancake, no words spoken.
Tried the strawberry soufflé and it was really soft and yummy with real strawberries and a tasty yogurt (?) cream. It's pretty pricey ($16-$17), but worth trying at least once. There are various flavors to try and the drinks are the same - variety of flavors. We ordered a brown sugar boba milk tea before realizing how many other choices there were. It's not a very big place and the decor is typical of a drink/dessert place. It got really busy -probably because it was Friday night and people like to hang out. There was a line out the door, but it moved surprisingly quickly. Drink orders came out fast but you have to wait a bit for the soufflé. If it's busy, finding a table might be a challenge, but getting things to go seemed fine. It's in a plaza so there's parking, but it's a busy plaza so you might have to park underground.
Ordered a taro soufflé pancake Togo and found out the order was missing the taro cream after we got home. Tried calling several times but couldn't get in contact. Check your orders.
An amazing eating experience! I've seen these Japanese souffle pancakes all over social media and decided to try them.....THEY WERE AMAZING!!! I never really rate anything a 10 but I tell you, this was a 10. First the parking- there's parking located in the lower level tunnel and there's also parking in the back of the business center. Once you're in, you place your order through the kiosk. Orders usually take about 20 minutes. We ordered the creme brulee and Nutella pancakes, they were light, fluffy, great portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. Very cool relaxing vibe inside. It's surprising how busy this place is especially for women/girls (maybe souffle is more popular among girls?) The only guys you see mostly liley are those who come as part of a family. However I personally think souffle is a glorified version of pancake. It's slightly thicker and more fluffy and if you like pancakes there is no reason why you wouldn't like this (other than the price?). The location is in a strip mall next to the bigger 99 Ranch plaza and parking can be difficult to find especially top side but there is a underground parking lot next door. It can still get busy so you may have to park in that plaza and walk over on busy weekends. Just note this place is busy even in the weekday evenings. There are very few tables so if you are coming as a date/family, you may not find a table. The tables are also small so I wouldn't recommend a large group of more than 4. You order via a kiosk and for drinks they will call your order number. For souffle if you dine in, you can take a number stand and place on your table just like some McDonald's. Souffle is not bad and not too sweet especially with the original flavor.
Nice cafe that offers an array of drinks and desserts including yummy soufflé pancakes and crepe cakes! For study goers, this place offers WiFi but no outlets so make sure your laptops are fully charged before you come!
Great soufflé pancakes as usual with the cheese cream topping. Took about 20 mins+ on a Tuesday afternoon. I asked the guy if the cookies are good and he nodded and recommended the mixed cookies; they taste like shit. Wish I could get my $9 back. Anyway, would only return for the pancakes.

This location can get quite busy so there are times it's difficult to even find a seat, and when you do come during busy times, expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your pancakes to come out. They also have a good selection of drinks which are a great pairing to your pancakes. It's definitely a great dessert spot as you get your fix on both small bites and a drink. I got the Mango in kyoto which was nice and sweet from the mango balanced by the matcha flavor! Ambiance is casual, can get quite loud again during busy times where it's hard to hear conversations.

They come out in about 20-30 minutes during non-rush hours but can take longer when more people are around. The tea and drinks here are also really good. Its cozy, with lighting that isn't too overwhelming and a good amount of indoor seating. There are two kiosks to order at and you get yourself a table number. They bring the pancakes out to you! There is music playing at a nice volume that isn't distractingly loud. There is also a clean bathroom inside if you need to go. Overall, rate this location a 8/10!
We came here to cry the infamous souffle pancakes and they did not disappoint! This location had a few tables for seating and a couple fo outdoor seating. Easy parking in the plaza. There are a few seasonal flavors for the souffle pancakes - we ordered the strawberry soufflé pancake. The pancakes are the jigglist, fluffiest pillows of joy. The strawberry was not too sweet either and gave a nciie freshness to the plate. Be prepared to wait a bit for these pancakes. There is a glass window to see them making it, but you can tell the pancakes are a little finicky to cook just right that requires staff to keep attention on it. The first batch they started were burnt so they did have to start again which we waited about 30+ minutes to finally get, but devoured in 5. Price was around ~$17 in person but ordering on online delivery apps is a little more. One surprise star of the night was the pork sung taro mochi mini cake. The sweet and savory-ness blended so well together and the mochi filling inside was nicely chewy! Price is on the higher sde, but was delicious!
Came in on a Sunday for the first time, thinking the place would be not be so busy... it was packed. LOL The food & drinks are really good! we had the matcha French toast & the crème brûlée pancakes! The French toast had a bold taste of matcha, however the bread itself felt a bit dry. The crème brûlée pancakes were delicious & fluffy! Super airy, I do get what people say about the "egg taste" however it was not an issue for me, the crème brûlée flavor over powers with its sweetness. My pancakes did take about 25min to arrive after the French toast but the wait time is expected & one is informed once ordering :) overall 3.8/10, I will say I wish they had music playing to help with the ambiance of the place.
I love Soufflé pancakes. The way they make them here at Motto is even better because they're sooo cute what the heck!? I ordered the Peach pancakes (summer seasonal) this time, and I'm not even a big peach eater, but these had a great refreshing taste for the hot AF summer. Of course, they were not overly sweet whatsoever even with the vanilla bean ice cream on the side. The pancakes themselves taste a bit eggy and I'm an egg fan so that worked out great for me. I also ordered the peach lime tea and added clear boba, less sweet. The drink went perfectly because it had fresh lime and it's pleasant to pair sweets with savory & sour. Plus the textures from the boba and pancakes made it more fun to eat. I probably waited about 15 minutes or so for the pancakes, but the space itself is cute and the staff seem friendly. The soufflé pancakes never fail to impress, and it's nice that they have new variations seasonally. I don't know why they retired the No. 5 Milk Tea long ago but the No. 9 has been good so far. Finally tried the Uji Matcha Latte, which tasted as it should. Underground parking is always convenient here, and the atmosphere is great for just hanging out with a drink, nice and bright with comfortable tables. Just wish they were on Hungry Panda! read more
I had a lovely experience at Motto Tea Cafe (San Gabriel). I ordered the Creme Brûlée Soufflé Pancake ($17.50). It's a fluffy, jiggly pancake topped with creme brûlée and glazed sugar. WOW! Each bite felt like a warm, decadent cloud. (Important Note: These Pancakes have a LONG wait. Each Jiggly Pancake had an expected 20 to 30 minute preparation time. Also, I recommend eating it dine-in. If you wait too long, these fluffy treats promptly get mushy.) I arrived at Motto Tea Cafe (San Gabriel) on Wednesday (11AM - Opening Time). Parking is easy. There's an underground lot for extra parking. Customers primarily order at the self-service kiosk. Customers must pay with card and insert phone number in the kiosk, but Customers can pay cash at the counter. Dine in customers grab a metal number that's stacked between the kiosks. Staff spoke limited English, but Staff is professional, diligent, and accommodating. My order took 24 minutes. As mentioned, I love the Creme Brûlée Soufflé Pancake ($17.50). It's plated and presented lovingly and seductively. It's memorable. With each motion, I bit hard onto its fluffy, lightly sweetened body. I savored how the creme brûlée's creamy sauce dribbled. It's layered, supple, and thick. I shake the plate. It dances. On ambiance, Motto Tea Cafe (San Gabriel) is comfortable. There's about seven interior tables and two counters. The music is slow-tempo and gentle. And it's clean. There's also a gender neutral restroom for customers. Overall, I created lovely memories at Motto Tea Cafe (San Gabriel). Sesame drink with tofu pudding on their menu? I'm definitely stopping by. The big self order kiosks were convenient. Status was notified through text message. Sesame was nutty and creamy, not too watered down. I chose it less sweet but was sweeter than I hoped for, prob from the boba that I accidentally added. Tofu was silky but wish there was more since I got this drink mainly because of that. All the indoor tables were taken on a Sunday afternoon since people ordered their signature crepe cakes and fluffy pancakes. They do also have some outdoor seating. Will want to try the soufle pancakes next time I come on a weekday and hopefully it's less crowded read more
My favorite souffle pancake spot! I accidentally posted on gram cafe and realized 7 months later because i tried them around the same time. But motto is def way better. I dont get sick of eating it whereas gram i was starting to get bored of the taste. This one is sooo airy and soft and doesnt taste too eggy. The drinks are alright though nothing special read more
With so many boba shops in the SGV, I had to see how Motto Tea Cafe compares to all the others. I am glad to say that it is a decent boba spot. The Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea was smooth, creamy, and delicious. However, the boba topping was hard and undercooked. I also quite enjoyed the White Peach Moonlight Milk Tea, which had just the right amount of artisan white peach flavor. I highly recommend adding either the cheese mousse or matcha mousse to the milk teas. If you want something that is both fruity and milky, then you can't go wrong with the Messy Berries Latte. This is a fairly small shop without much seating inside and a bit of outdoor seating. There are 2 ordering kiosks at the front. Service is pretty nonexistent here. Instead of calling out your order when it's ready, the employees just leave the drinks at the counter. I always have to go up to ask for my drink, so this is something to watch out for if you are visiting. In addition to drinks, there are many cake, souffle pancakes, and dessert options available. Parking here is sufficient, plenty of spots and shouldn't have any problem finding parking. read more

Omg this place is delish! My parents love coming here to grab a sweet treat after dinner, but it was my first time here. When you walk in, the place is quite crowded but my mom was able to secure a table luckily. You order from a kiosk which had too many desserts to try. We got the Christmas soufflé pancakes since it had pistachio and raspberry cream with strawberries and blueberries in each layer. It was visually stunning and also tasty! I'm not a fan of sugary sweet desserts but this was perfectly sweetened. The soufflé pancakes were fluffy and moist! 5/5! The black sesame tofu pudding frost was also delicious. I got less sugar and substituted soy milk. It was very black sesame forward, which I really appreciated! Also 5/5. I'll definitely be back again with my parents soon!! read more
The best Japanese soufflés in the block with innovative, seasonal flavors. Our go to spot for dessert. Ordering is on a kiosk and they don't have many tables but we've been lucky enough to snag one. It's a small quaint shop and the service is fairly quick and you get your own utensils, napkins and water. read more
MOTTO TEA CAFE is located in a large center with its own free parking. There are also plenty of available street parking in the surrounding streets. There was no line to get in. You must order at the kiosk and there is a line to order. You need to punch in a number (those little table stands/labels so the server knows who to deliver the food to) in order to complete your order and they don't have enough. When I went up to the counter to ask for one, absolutely not one person looked at my face even when they walked up in front of me, grabbed some stuff on the counter I'm standing in front of, and I was calling and waving in front of them. After several minutes, I gave up and lined up at the kiosk, put xx number on the required field and completed my order. After 40 minutes of waiting, and making sure that the people that were behind us in the kiosk line got their order, I finally tried to flag one of the people delivering the food. She brushed me off and a few minutes later, someone came over and asked what I needed. I explained about my order. And only then did they make our order. So another 20 minutes to get our food. Super cute space with lots of indoor chairs and tables. The NUTELLA pancake was delicious and super fluffy. Perfectly cooked, wonderfully flavored, large portion. Big enough for 4 people to share. Totally worth the price. But probably not worth the 1 hour (actually, more) angsty wait. read more

Craving the soufflé and Motto has one of the consistent and good quality. Yummy and fulfilling. Today kinda slow. Not sure why. Looks like they added more toppings as a way to make amends. Both of the pancakes are delicious and fluffy. They moved the kiosk back closer to cashier now. No more blocking the door when they have queue. Good ambiance. Good service. read more

It's been a while since I've had Motto Tea. There's so many boba places in this vicinity. It was a warm day so I decided to go back to Motto and get myself a cheese mousse Jasmine green tea. I forgot how good their drinks are. The Jasmine was extremely fragrant. And the mousse was the right consistency. I ordered 25% sweet with boba and it was just perfect. I have tried their cakes before in the past and remember them being good. I haven't had a chance to try the pancakes yet since there's usually a wait. read more

Absolutely loved the strawberry pancake. I think nothing I've ever had before. It's so fluffy and light and delicious. We ordered at the kiosk and got our number and sat down. We even added a tip on the order. The only bummer is when they brought us the pancake, they told us "forks are over there" which we had to get up and get our own fork. I feel like if you're tipping, they should at least bring your fork to you. No big deal the place was delicious and very clean. read more
I've been wanting to try Motto for sometime and so glad I did! Cafe itself is cute and modern and has both indoor and outdoor seating. All orders are done via kiosk, so the only confusion would be if you misselected. When we went there was a buy one get one 50% off deal. Super nice surprise! Ended up trying the peach souffle pancakes (seasonal item) and the creme brûlée - both super fluffy and delicious! I say this as I've been to other souffle pancakes places and my pancakes were deflated. Peach souffle pancakes had jelly peach flavored jelly on it. Flavor wasn't overwhelming, but complimented the pancakes. I'd get this again. The creme brûlée pancakes were also delicious. The creme was not overbearing and the fruit paired perfectly. I'd also get this again. The drinks were also good. I always get milk tea no matter where I got so I got that with 50% sweetner and it hit the spot. All in all so glad I tried Motto. Motto Tea Cafe is a lovely dessert spot right in the middle of some of the best Chinese restaurants and treats. We came in around 9 o'clock, and it was a full house. The wait for food was about 10-15 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The restaurant is bright and welcoming, with delicious smells greeting you as soon as you step inside. We ordered the mango soufflé pancake -- one of their specialties. It's not my first time trying this type of "fluffy pancake," but this version is definitely one of my favorites. The pancake itself isn't overly sweet, even with all the toppings and the sea-salt cream, which makes it really well-balanced and enjoyable. read more

The parking in this location can be chaotic. The plaza has compact parking that's quite busy. The inside of the cafe is clean and cozy. It's a good spot to chill with friends with good amount of seating. The staff were okay. They have two kiosks! I got the matcha yuzu crepe cake. It was alright. You definitely get the yuzu flavor and it's light to eat. I also tried the secret cookie and it's actually pretty bad. It was dry and stale. Almost expired tasting. Unsure if this was a case of ordering the wrong thing, but why even offer it? Especially for the high price. I've had the souffle pancakes here before and they are fairly tasty. read more

When I think of soufflé pancakes I think of Motto Tea Café. Their pancakes are so delicate and fluffy with the best topping options and best drink options as well. You see how I devoured my plate? Yeah. They also have really nice "not too sweet" desserts that I adore. Decent seating, good parking and very kind staff. read more

1) Mango in Uji I love matcha/green tea, but it did not hit the spot for me. The mango flavor was so strong. If you really love uji, you might not like this very much because you cannot taste it well. Anyway, It is not bad, but it is just not for true green tea fans. 2) Tofu Pudding Black Sesame Forest I suggested it to my friend. She likes it because it was full of the tasate of sesame. read more

love this cafe and the variety of souffle pancakes, desserts, and drinks they have. there is a bit of a wait as they're freshly made-to-order, so don't come hungry! love that they have plenty of seating, including the patio. parking does get tricky on ground level but the plaza offers underground parking. i've tried their king grape tea (blended grape w cheese mousse and grape jelly), taro storm BMT with choice of tea, mango yuki (blended mango w choice of foam, i chose matcha), and matcha mochi white peach MT. their drinks have all been solid. however, boba quality is just ok. the most memorable and delicious drink i've had was the taro storm with my choice of tea. get it with the osmanthus tea!! the tea is so fragrant and lightly sweetened that it works really well against the earthy taro paste. read more
This is my kids' favorite dessert place. It's located inside a small 2-story SG shopping center. They have limited parking and it can get a little chaotic on weekends. They specialize in the deliciously fluffy and bouncy pancakes drizzled with all kinds of fun and yummy toppings like brown sugar boba and oreo cookie crumbles. They also have many iced tea options with customizable levels of sweetness. My only complaint is that even 25% sweetness is still wayyyy too sweet! You order on a screen and they just call your number to pick up the drink - they do pick deliver the dessert to your table though. The service is friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this place when you're craving something sweet. read more
5/27/2025 3 1/2 Stars JASMINE GREEN GRAPE SOUFFLÉ PANCAKE This is a seasonal menu item, so I thought I'd try this. The cream was lightly sweetened, yet tasted like the green grapes, sweet and slightly tangy with a light, refreshing juicy flavor to them. Green grapes were added as garnish as well. A tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream was added too. However, the star was the soufflé pancake itself. Three fluffy, jiggly pancakes piled on top of each other. The soft, fluffy, cloud-like texture! I forget how good these are! Each bite was delightful and melts in your mouth! Only regret is not having ordered another soufflé pancake. EARL GREY CREPE CAKE Got a slice to go, but realized that it will probably melt along the way, so we had to finish the cake quickly. The earl grey flavor was there, but it wasn't as strong. It tasted more like ceylon tea than earl grey. The cream was super heavy! Every bite was cream! This was heavier than Lady M Cakes' crepes cakes! The crepes were not very thin too, slightly on the thicker side. I prefer Lady M's Earl Grey crepes cake over this one. KUMQUAT GRAPE BLISS A ton of green grape flavor, refreshing flavor. Not much kumquat flavor. Overall flavor was the sweet green grape flavor. However, the drink had too much green grape bits that made it harder to drink. Also, the flavor towards the end was bitter and watered down. MENU I didn't take a picture of the menu because it is available online. Shortcut to Google and type in Motto Tea Cafe Chowbus. CUSTOMER SERVICE There was a bit of panic from the servers. Because my drink and crepes cake came out early, I brought my table number to the front register, as they called my number. They told me to leave the table number with them and they will simply bring out the soufflé pancake to my table. Well, that was not being communicated to the servers who brought me the soufflé. When it came out, we let them know that it is our order, but the servers looked confused and asked me why we did not have the table order number with me. I told them I brought it to the front register because my other orders were ready and they responded with, "you should have your order number with you." Sheesh. It was irritating. Love the ambiance of this place. There's a lot of seating area and an aesthetic wall area where you can take pictures with your food / drink. The drinks seem pretty basic and there's a few unique combinations / flavors. But I like coming here for the fluffy pancakes! The pancakes are light and airy. Although there are only few flavors to choose from, it definitely hits the sweet spot. Service here is fast. The people taking your orders are friendly. But FYI, the fluffy pancakes take time to make, so expect a bit of a wait. read more

Today was my birthday, and we simply wanted to buy a small cake and pay extra for a birthday box and candles. Since there were only two of us, we didn't want to waste a full cake -- which felt like a very reasonable request. At first, one of the staff members said it could be arranged. However, the female manager later stepped in and directly rejected it, insisting that we could only purchase their so-called "mystery cake box." From what I observed, this "mystery box" consists of unsold cakes that were already being offered since the morning, suggesting they are not freshly prepared items of the day. There was also no transparency about how long they had been stored, which made it feel uncomfortable. What made the experience worse wasn't just the refusal, but her attitude -- the dismissive expression and tone made the whole interaction unpleasant. In contrast, Bake A, just 3 minutes away, provided a completely different experience. When they heard it was my birthday, they even made a small dog-shaped cake, which felt thoughtful and warm. At the end of the day, service is not just about rules -- it's about humanity. Unfortunately, this place lacks that entirely. read more

I've been here a few times and they've been consistently good! I've only had some of their drinks and pancakes so far, but I'd love to try their cakes in the future. I've also studied here a few times with my friends; the place is quiet and they offer free Wi-Fi. We tried the nutellamisu souffle pancakes, which had a fluffy texture and not too sweet cream. It was light and easy to eat without feeling overly sweet! We also tried their Mango in Uji and a peach milk tea. Both were with minimal sugar. The matcha flavor was strong and paired well with the fresh mango. The milk tea was a little watery, even with less ice. Overall, super nice spot to study and enjoy dessert! read more
Very delicious souffle pancakes! I've tried many of their flavors, but the one that stands out to me most is the Creme Brulee Souffle Pancake! The pancakes are thick and fluffy, which makes it taste very light. It's topped with a creamy sweet sauce and bits and pieces of a crispy, caramelized top. There's also fruits on the side as well. Definitely a shareable portion and worth the price! The presentation of their desserts are always very aesthetic and beautiful! You order at the kiosk, grab a table place card number, and enter it along with your order. You select a table yourself and place your table card number on the table. They will find your table and bring you the desserts directly. However, you will have to grab your utensils yourself at the station near the entrance and will have to self-bus your plates and trash when you are finished. Minor cons: very limited seating during the busy hours. Even though they offer both outdoor and indoor seating, it still gets really crowded during night time. The souffle pancakes take a minimum of 20 minutes to be ready (closer to 40 minutes if you are going in at a busier time). Be prepared to have a wait time for a table and for the food to arrive. Parking is convenient (free lot with underground parking option as well). read more

No not that I noticed. Just the teas but no food items.
Has anyone ordered the soufflé to-go? Is this still as good?
Personally, I think it is better when it is fresh and in person. When you take it to go, it is still tasty but it's not as fresh or as pretty.
Do you need reservations?
No reservation is needed. It's a Cafe like Boba shop. They use (touchless) online order onsite.
Are you doing soufflé pancakes regularly now or still just weekend?
They serve everyday but cutoff for souffle pancake order is 8pm
