This is really the best Pho place I or anybody I've taken here have ever ate at. We come here all the time, and for some reason, the Pho is just so much better than other places! I have no idea what others were talking about. This place rocks! You may take a number and sit, but your meal is delivered promptly! Also I believe the taste is different do to the broth content. The vegetarian Pho is from vegetable stock not beef as in other places. The prices are reasonable for the location of the restaurant. I am really surprised by the luke warm ratings for Lucky Pho. I will admit that before moving to Seattle I had never had Pho, but Lucky's is the best I've had so far. First off, the rolls are yummy and come with shrimp or tofu, and they will let you do a half order of each! Then they have vegetarian Pho, and it comes with more vegetables (and less cilantro) that Than Brothers. You can add extra veggies or noodles AND, the child size Pho is plenty, especially if you want rolls or something additional. I can easily eat a meal there for under $10, under $5 if I just want Pho. read more

The thing that makes Lucky's stand out is the fact that they add no extra MSG to their broth. No doubt this is the reason many find it "less flavorful", but to me, it makes it migraine-free, and that is divine. The owner is married to a Vietnamese woman, and besides being coached by his wife and mother-in-law, who owns a number of Vietnamese restaurants herself, trained with the Than brothers, and told me he was taken aback by the amount of MSG added to each 5 gallon bucket of broth. So, he worked with his mother-in-law to make an authentic broth that is extremely flavorful, but has no added MSG. I think they have succeeded beautifully. The staff is incredibly helpful and extremely efficient, service is fast and courteous. The place is extremely busy around the lunch hour, but today the owner came out and helped put together a couple of tables for me and my guests. You can add extra veggies to any bowl for about 75 cents, and I can't say enough good things about them. They are cooked perfectly, crisp and flavorful and healthy. An excellent, filling, delicious, fast and healthy lunch for three today was under $23. May you have a long life in Fremont, Lucky Pho! read more

I am giving this a 4 star rating because on this cloudy-trying-to-be-summer-in-Seattle day, this place really hit the spot. I am a huge fan of pho, and find that lot of places that I go don't leave me feeling like I did when I left Lucky's today. First off, let me say I was FAMISHED when I finally got to Lucky's after a huge walk around Fremont, and was ready for a hot bowl of soup. I had been eyeing this restaurant for awhile and decided to stop in. when i opened the door, the warm, thick, smell of pho wafted towards me, immediately causing my stomach to growl in protest that I had not yet fed it. It smelled great. I ordered a medium #1 with beef and a green tea bubble tea. When my food arrived I was surprised at how...noodley...the bowl was. I am a pretty good pho eater and can usually finish my bowl but it was so FULL!!! I dressed my pho accordingly (sprouts, lime, chili pate, plum sauce) and dove in. When I was done, I still had food left in my bowl which brings me to believe that a medium is MORE than enough for one person. I have left other pho restaurants, namely Than Brothers saddened that I didnt really feel full and had a pretty crappy cheap bowl of pho. Lucky's is a little pricier than most pho restaurants ($10 for a bowl of soup and bubble tea), but I have no complaints simply because I feel like I got my noodle's worth! I love this place. I come from afar (ok, Ballard) for this pho. I've had the chicken sandwich. I used to order that all the time before I figured out how great the pho is. I noticed some people complaining about the fact that the chicken is shredded, that it's inauthentic--doesn't bother me, and I've had shredded chicken on sandwiches at other pho places. My favorite pho to order is chicken pho, with all white meat and added veggies. The chicken is the best that I've ever had at a pho place (one time I didn't ask for white meat and it was a little yucky, but that's personal choice I suppose) and then, it's just so delicious with all the vegetables. The prices are a bit higher and the portions are a bit smaller than similar pho places. The broth had a really beefy, salty flavor that I didn't love, but that might just be me. It was clean and trendy. If I went again, I'd try the vermicelli instead of the pho. read more

One of my favorite pho places! This place is fast, cheap, and delicious. The veggie pho is great and has lots of different vegetables like bok choy, green beans, spinach, and carrot. I also really like the sandwich. It's the right size with a powerful punch from the jalapenos. I definitely recommend adding the avocado, you have to pay extra but they give you a lot. read more

My favorite menu here is chicken pho with vegetables added. With just one dollar extra, they serve tons of veggies with great broth, chicken and noodles. The staffs were pretty nice. One of my friends are obsessed with all the pork dishes here (pork sandwich, pork tacos, pork BBQ rice and pork vermicelli) they are all amazing too! My fiance and I LOVE this place! We used to come here all the time when we lived in Fremont. Now that we moved to Redmond, we still frequent regularly, although I more often have to bring it home via takeout now. The pho is the best around (I always choose the vegetarian with tofu) and my fiance usually gets chicken or beef. The people who work here are super friendly and even remember us and our orders. I love Lucky's! My husband and I literally eat here once a week. Their chicken pho is magical; if my stomach is ever upset, this is what I eat and it makes everything better. I also greatly recommend the shrimp spring rolls. If you call in a carry out order, it is ready within 10 minutes or less which is fabulous when you live in the city. A cute little pho place that reminds me of home. The one downside is that it often gets very warm in there so it's nice to take your food to go and eat outside in Fremont somewhere. I haven't actually had the pho, so I can not speak to it's quality. My husband and I go on a regular basis to get Vietnamese sandwiches. I have had better Vietnamese sandwiches, but these are still close to the top, and a good price for the amount of food for a place in Fremont. It is kind of random that they sell smoothies, too, but they were decent when we ordered them. Decor is lacking and I can't eat in during the summer because it is so hot in the resturant. BUT it's delicious! By far my favorite broth I have ever had. Service is good and fast. The restaurant is a complete wonder in its price point. I slipped in for a quick snack while I was waiting for the bus. Frankly, I wasn't expecting anything great judging by its exterior. I ordered a pork sandwich and a bubble tea. The service was really fast even while the restaurant was fairly populated. The first bite of that wonderful sandwich can described as nothing short of orgasmic. The bread was flavourful and equally delicious as the savoury pork that was inside. The people at Lucky's have found the perfect balance between the pork and all the fresh vegetables including the carrots. Lucky's confuses me. Walking by, it *looks* like a crappy pho place: it's too clean, sterilized, and bright and the windows are clear, even on a blustery winter day when any other pho restaurant's windows would be steamed up from the throngs of people hungrily wolfing down huge bowls of pho. The things I've *heard* about Lucky aren't too great either:most of the Fremont frequenters I know would rather opt for a cup of soup from PCC or some warm Phad Thai on a cold, rainy day instead of eating pho from Lucky's...and that's a problem. Yet walking by Lucky's *smells* like I'm walking past the world's biggest vat of pho broth--I can seriously smell it halfway up or down the block (depending on which way the wind is blowing that day). I decided to put an end to this confusion once and for all, so I visited Lucky's for lunch one day when I needed some--anything--to fill my belly before I dove headfirst into a long meeting. And you know what? Lucky's did all right. Because I'm a pretty slow eater and I was in a rush, I ordered a bowl of vegetarian pho in the kid's size, which they kindly allowed me to do despite the fact that the menu clearly stated "Kid's - 12 and under". Ordering in a group and paying separately was easy since we just walked right up to the counter, ordered, paid, and then sat down and there was no confusion about which orders went to which table when our food came out a mere 5 minutes later. For $3, the kid's bowl was truly enough to fill me right up and it was yummy enough but I was not a fan of the half-steamed carrot and broccoli in my bowl. Nothing against those veggies but I just happen to vastly prefer that my vegetarian pho be filled with tofu. So I left feeling like I'd gotten a deal on a palatble lunch but with none of the comfort and warmth that I usually feel when leaving a pho place. And for that, Lucky's only gets 3 stars. read more

Like many of the other reviewers, I am doing the happy dance that a pho place opened in Fremont. The location is great! The place is spacious, clean and cheery. The staff are friendly and speedy. Although they do get busy during the lunch hours, they still have fast and courteous service. The tables get cleaned off super quick by the staff so you don't have to wait long for the next available table. For the portion size and tastiness, the price is reasonable. My lunch-mate got a Vietnamese sandwich and thought it was most tasty and it arrived at our table super quick along with my medium beef soup. I love that they have healthy frozen yogurt as well...it's a nice way of cooling your mouth after hot and spicy soup leaving you feeling refreshed. Yum, yum, yum.... read more

Lucky's serves the best chicken pho in Seattle, and I have vegetarian friends who love their vegetable broth pho. I treat myself to the chicken pho two to three times a month, and it is one of the places I am sure to bring family or friends who visit! Not only is the food delicious and the best price in the neighborhood, the owners are friendly and the food is consistently delivered hot and fast, whether dining in or taking away. I have been to Lucky's Pho three times. After the 2nd visit, I would have given this place 4 stars. But the last time I visited ruined Lucky's for me. I'm a vegetarian - a pretty strict one at that. I understand that I live in a meat eating world and in no way shape or form do I force my dietary decisions on anyone. I have, on many occasions, received meat on accident from a variety of restaurants. 100% of the time they have corrected the mistake and apologized. No biggie, I usually say. Well now I don't have such wonderful statistics... which brings me to my trip to Lucky's Pho on 5/4/2009. I ordered the vegetarian Pho, as usual, and trekked it home. When I opened it I noticed the broth was an unusual dark color - as opposed to the broth I had received in the past (light and almost clear). I called them and told them I think I received the wrong order. I asked them what color their vegetarian broth was supposed to be and the rude girl on the phone told me "I've never looked at the color before, so I don't know what to tell you." You'd think she would have taken 30 seconds out of her "busy" day and offered to look - which I had suggested and she quickly refused. At the start of the conversation (2 min total) I was pretty chill but by the end I was pretty darn mad. During my quest to find out the correct color of vegetarian broth, the girl on the phone was taking other customers orders and unwilling to help me in any way shape or form. I gave up by telling her she was most unhelpful. Thankfully my mystery pho didn't go to waste and my friend that was with me ate what I wouldn't dare. I would NOT recommend that vegetarians eat at this establishment. To put a rotten cherry on the top of this, I saw the same unhelpful girl yesterday standing outside of Lucky's smoking a cigarette then throwing her butt into the street. As a Vietnamese person who is super picky about her food, this place was a bit disappointing. I read a review saying that the pho broth "lacked complexity" which seemed silly to say, but I actually have to agree with it. The pot stickers weren't great either and seemed more like an egg roll than anything else. read more

People keep comparing Lucky's to Than brothers which is like comparing Dicks burgers to Bluemoon burgers, both good but for very different reasons (mainly the quality of ingredients). Than Brothers can sell their soup so cheap because it is bouillon cube msg broth. I was talking to the owner of Lucky's and he said that it takes 6 hours minimum to make the beef broth and a minimum of 3 hours for the veggie broth without using msg. I think Than Brothers is fine for convenience and cheapness (like McDondalds or taco bell) but the people who prefer Than Brothers simply don't seem to have high expectations for the quality of their food. Not to mention it is only about a dollar more that than brothers. And for the people who are getting all worked up about those dry/ stale cream puffs go to any coffee shop or pastry shop and you can find something better than that. With all that said, the best place for pho in seattle is Pho place is Pho Viet Anh. read more

you fools are crazy! the pho at lucky's is delicious! i ordered the vegetarian as takeout and could smell the amazing broth through the bag. when i got home, i found a huge bowl full of fresh veggies, noodles, broth and the fixins. I thought it was more flavorful than Than Bros and for $6, you can't beat it. So glad this place is within walking distance. It's about to get cold and rainy up in this town and i'm gonna need my pho fix at least once a week. read more

I give this place 5 stars. I'm not saying it's a 5 star restaurant, but whenever I'm hungry I think of Lucky's Pho...and I live in Vancouver! I've been there numerous times however since I'm moving to Seattle soon and I love the Pho. It's hearty, tasty, generously sized, and you can get lots of extra veggies added for free. Just ask for a beef and veggie Pho and you'll have loads of each. I've eaten at many Pho restaurants in Seattle and Vancouver and this is easily my favorite. The price is slightly higher than most (maybe 75 cents higher) but it's well worth it. The restaurant is in a great location in beautiful Fremont too so it makes a great stopping off point while exploring the area. My wife loves the sandwiches there but I haven't tried them myself.
