Los Costenos has been closed for the last couple of months for what looked to be renovations. It looks like they recently reopened and unfortunately the menu has been completely revamped. It's more standard Mexican restaurant fare now, with burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and nachos. Most importantly - the Caribbean sandwiches have been removed! Just updating my review to let everyone know that the best Caribbean Roast Pork Sandwiches in Seattle are no more. They were my favorite, at least!

Nestled in Uwajimaya is this amazing Mexican stand that you do not want to miss! The chicken nachos are delicious! The chicken is really the star of the show. It's nicely marinated and the mix of cheese, jalapeños sour cream and salsa was perfection on each bite. I was very impressed! I was on a stroll for the CID food walk and dare I say this was my favorite of the day! Definitely will be back for some game day noms!

Los Costenos is a hidden gem that is a strong contender for best Caribbean sandwich in the Seattle area. I believe it's better than Paseo, but slightly under Un Bien or Bongos. However, Los Costenos is cheaper, has validated parking, and rests near other options for picky eater friends, dessert, or drinks. In that regard, the overall experience here is better. A hard toss up for sure though, I'd recommend all of them! Service here is phenomenal. I ordered two pork shoulder sandwiches. I wanted another one to go but they ran out of bread. That's a lesson to come early. There was meat and I could have got a wrap, but they couldn't recommend it. In case you're curious or are hoping for low carb, it may be worth asking about substitutions because it seems like they're flexible. However, I'd highly recommend the sandwiches above all else. Pork Shoulder Sandwich - the bread was delicious and toasted to perfection. On top was a generous serving of tender, juicy, slow cooked pork with flavorful caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and jalapenos. All of these elements were rich in flavor, pairing perfectly. To top it all off, a clean piece of lettuce cleansed the palette and cut some oil. I struggled to bite the sandwich which says a lot about the size and amount of content.

Side Rice and Seafood - $10. Super cheap and delicious. Has a bit of a spicy kick.

I think this is my 4th or 5th updated review of this place. I have been coming here since their very very beginning and yes, they are still awesome and their prices still are the most affordable amongst all the food options here, especially for the portions you get. Service is always nice and fast. Their prices went up on a couple of items but honestly I always wondered how they were able to sell so low anyway. Especially their Nachos (it used to be $8.50 and now it's $9.50 - still pre-pandemic level price). Their Garlic Shrimp Sandwich is amazing! Highly recommended if you're in the area.

I accidentally stumbled upon Los Costenos while heading to the market in search of a small snack during my commute. Los Costenos was the first vendor located at the intersection of S Weller Street and 5th Ave S. After briefly reviewing the menu, I was particularly interested in the tofu options, including the sandwich, fajita wrap, and plate. I decided to go with the wrap. Overall, the wrap was above average. The tofu was fine, but it needed more marinade or seasoning, and the veggies were flavorful. I would rate it a 3.4 out of 5 overall, but it wasn't bad. The price was in line with the cost of living in Seattle, at $11. However, it was pretty massive in size, so it may have been a steal. Since there was only one vendor, the preparation and wait times combined were about 10 to 15 minutes. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, and I would consider having it again..

Amazing! Even better than Un Bien (let alone Paseo, which I have left alone for years). Hidden in the end corner of the Uwajimaya food court. Order the pork shoulder supreme ($11) - best deal in the city! Then a seafood in red sauce over rice and a huli huli chicken plate to enjoy later. I'm thinking about getting another sandwich tomorrow. Just go now.

Located inside of Uwajimaya, first booth on the left when you enter the food court from the 5th & Weller entrance! Across from Jardín Tea. No "restaurant seating" bc it's a food court, but food court seating is first come first serve - lots of lil tables, bigger groups id recommend planning to find somewhere to eat outside - plenty of benches and cute spots by the fountain on 5th. Decent prices for the area and a fun mix up if you get Asian cuisine a lot in the area. Caribbean spot with Latin influence for sure. Sandwiches are messy, but fresh, hot, and flavorful as it gets!!! Grab extra napkins or prepare to wipe your hands on your pet or loved ones, dealers choice. Super fast, easy to carry, def going back!

Los Costeños is located in the Uwajimaya food court. The pork shoulder sandwich was delicious and very flavorful. The sandwich comprises of pork shoulder, garlic aioli, jalapenos, cilantro, onions, sliced of ham, and Swiss cheese. The portion was a good size to share between two people. It also didn't take very long for our order to be ready. The food court has a good amount of tables and chairs. It is a great spot for lunch if you're looking for great food.

Yeah, dawg, this is an awesome spot in the Uwajimaya food court in the Chinatown-International District neighborhood. After reading reviews from Yelpers I trust (Connie A. and Bryan K.!), I had to check out this casual eatery that's reminiscent of Un Bien and Paseo. But I think this place is better. As mentioned, this is a food vendor in the food court of Uwajimaya, so with that said, it's a stand. Seating can be found in the center of the food court, or just get takeout like many of the patrons do here. I visited Los Costenos on a weekday around lunch time and the place was swarming. There was a wait for the food, which is always a good sign since everything was prepared when ordered. Similar to the menus of Paseo and Un Bien, they have baguette sandwiches, bowls and a pulled pork that seems to be their specialty. I read wonderful words about the pork supreme sandwich, which I was tempted to get. However when I went up to the counter to order, I saw that they had a special for nachos for less than $10, with your choice of pork or chicken. Done deal! I ordered the nachos with pork. I ordered this entrée as takeout and it was hefty! When I opened the container, the nachos were STACKED with pork, sauce, beans, cheese, peppers and a crema drizzle. Tortilla chips were underneath the goodness. Therefore, I recommend eating these nachos ASAP as the tortilla chips smothered in the goods will soften, so the crunch factor may get lost. However, even with the softened tortilla chips, it was delicious! The pulled pork here is waaaayyyyy better than Paseo's, as it was tender and very flavorful. It was also a huge portion, so truly, this is an amazing deal! I'm glad to have discovered Los Costenos and would happily eat here again. Pork supreme next time!

I noticed the salmon on the menu and decided to give it a try since I was looking for something a little lighter. I am so glad I did. Without exaggeration, it was the best salmon I've ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the sauce and accompanying ingredients brought everything together beautifully. Every bite was outstanding. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service was friendly and attentive, and the bar offered a great selection of cocktails and spirits. If you're visiting Seattle or looking for a great dining experience, I would absolutely recommend Shaker + Spear. The salmon alone is worth coming back for.

It's nice to watch the staff cook because it tells you that the food is fresh. I have high expectations for seafood in Seattle. However, I was disappointed with the scallops as it tasted raw and cool to the touch in the center. I'm not a scallop expert but this one missed the mark - the flavors were off with the sauce (tasted earthy). Presentation and color looked good, but this didn't taste good. Also came here breakfast several times. I don't have pictures, but each time the breakfast was amazing!

SWEETGREENS @ KIRKLAND…read more This was my first time visiting Sweetgreen in Kirkland, located in Totem Lake. Totem Lake is a great area to explore, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and even a movie theater all within walking distance. It's a nice spot if you're looking to spend some time around the Kirkland area. I've heard a lot about Sweetgreen, so I was excited to finally give it a try. The concept reminded me a lot of Chipotle since you can choose your base, protein, toppings, and sauces to create your own bowl. They also offer a variety of signature bowls if you don't want to build your own. Options included bowls with pesto, steak, and other combinations already put together for you. Unfortunately, my first impression wasn't the best. The staff didn't seem very friendly, and everything felt rushed. Since my dad and I were both first time customers, we weren't exactly sure what to order. It felt like we were being hurried through the line rather than being helped. For my bowl, I chose quinoa, romaine lettuce, and chicken. They had temporarily run out of chicken, but thankfully a fresh batch came out after only a few minutes, which I appreciated. I also noticed that the tables inside were pretty dirty, so we decided to sit outside instead. The outdoor seating was much more enjoyable anyway. As for the food, I thought it was good overall. I liked that everything tasted fresh and seemed to be made with wholesome ingredients. The vegetables were crisp, and the bowl felt healthy and filling. My biggest complaint was the chicken. It wasn't seasoned very much and tasted pretty plain, so I found myself relying on the sauce to add flavor to the meal. Overall, the food was decent, but the customer service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I don't think I would return to this particular location, but I'd be willing to give another Sweetgreen a try in the future, especially to test out some of their wraps or other menu options.

The selection was pretty good but the portions were small and not very tasty. The food and service was mediocre, at best, and three salads were almost $90. I cannot with good consciousness recommend this place to anyone. Way over priced and over hyped.
