Incredibly slow service. Everyone in the restaurant was served and I had to go up to the counter and ask if my order was ready. It had been sitting on the back table for who knows how long. When I opened the bag, there was grease coating everything, literally everything-- all the bags, my burgers, each order of fries, grease was dripping from one of the bags of onion rings. So gross. The burgers were stuffed in the bottom of the bag underneath the fries and onion rings. The top bun of the teriyaki burger was like a sponge, fully wet with teriyaki sauce all the way through from top to bottom-- that top bun was inedible. I've come here quite a few times in my life but this was the 1st time I've been back there in almost 2 years. I've never had any complaints about the food, it's always good food at a reasonable price. It did take awhile (like 20-25 minutes) to get my burger because it was decently busy. But I found it odd that they had 3 people in the back cooking, and one person running the register who also had to clean all the tables AND bring out all the food. I get to come here every couple of months. Great food, friendly service. I got fries, poutine and 2 burgers to go, with a kids meal. 20min for food made fresh to order. The food travels well and reheats well. Poutine of course were a bit soggy after a 20min drive home, but that is my fault. Shitty service at Dobra left me with less time to enjoy my food here. Only negative to consider is if you are vegan, they cook their vegan options on the same grill as the meat, so it isnt really vegan friendly. (This was the complaint that my vegan friend with me had. I'm a big fan of Local Burger. My friends and I were some of the first people to frequent it and have always found the waitstaff to be really nice and helpful. In a time of over-processed fast food it's really nice to have handmade burgers and fries. Also there's always a piece of paper on the counter to tell you where the meat and potatoes that day are coming from. I do agree that when it gets busy they have some speed and space issues, but I think the good still way outweighs the bad. Back in my pre-veggie days I had the turkey burger and it was perfect. It's my eldest sons favorite as well. They have veggie burgers, portabella burgers, Kobe Beef, turkey and fram raised beef. My go-to here now are the buffalo Blue fries. They are astounding. A tray of fries coated in medium buffalo sauce and curds of blue cheese. It's perfect and covers my wing cravings. They used to only have these as a special, but now they're a part of the standard menu. Recently, I've become addicted to the mac and cheese bites. I say this as a person who is VERY picky about mac and cheese. These are perfect. When they're served they're molten on the inside, so cheesy and perfect. The dipping sauce is also really incredible. Free water in the soda machine, local brand bottles of soda, fountain drinks and shakes top out the offerings. The shakes are old school. Milk and ice cream mixed. (What Bostonions would call a Frappe.) Not a sludge from a mixer machine, but made fresh to order. As such, it can take a little bit to get out to you. Patience. You order at the counter, then sit at a table. They bring the things out to you. Your order number is on the receipt. Memorize it or keep it. Especially if it's busy. Friday and sat nights it's hopping here. There are lines. There can also be no seating. Be nice, be patient. Good luck. I've been here twice now and while I never left wanting my money back, I have wished that I'd gone elsewhere in NOHO. I'm all about a good burger whether it be a $15 fancy burger or a simple well made $5 burger I'm down. Food: I've tried two different burgers now and each one left me full but the ingredients/ sauce flavor profile seemed muted. For example I had the Local burger with ranch and buffalo sauce and I could barely taste the sauces. 2nd burger was the same way, not a bad burger but all the flavors muddled together. The standout for me is the sides. I really enjoyed the onion rings with the chipotle ketchup. Giant rings and ample tasty breading with an awesome ketchup... sign me up. My lady wasn't as enthused as I, she felt the breading was way too heavy. I've also had the poutine fries and the buffalo blue fries. Of the two the buffalo blue were definitely the winner. The fries married well with our burgers and IPA's (BYOB). The poutine fries were average, I felt they could have done a better job integrating the cheese into the fries, and the gravy was just ok. Ambiance: The service is friendly and the wait isn't too bad. They have several tables and bar type seating with a pretty good size table overlooking the street. They have a regular fountain drink setup and the ability to bring your own alcohol is a definite plus. Bottom Line: If in the area its worth checking out. Many restaurant names were offered but Local Burger was mentioned by all. The burgers were a highlight but several also highly recommended the Captain Crunch Chicken Fingers and Onion Rings. I tried both and the generous portions were too much to eat for one person. The breading for the chicken fingers was Captain Crunch and was really excellent but the breading for the huge onions rings was unique. By "Unique" I mean in a good way where I would describe them as some of the best onion rings I have ever eaten. The young lady at the cash register and the young man efficiently running the orders shared cole slaw while I waited and it too was great. Local is similar, but not as good. I typically get the Westhampton burger which has bacon, cheddar, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing - delicious, but messy. In general, the food is good, but it takes longer than it should, and some of it is IMO overpriced, like the shakes and some of the openers (mac and cheese bites, I'm looking at you). Situated in a liberal town of 28,000, Local Burger is a family-owned burger joint/diner. It's a homely place to eat, and was definitely packed when I consumed lunch on a Saturday at 2pm. Exposed brick walls, checkered floor, and a menu on a chalkboard adds more charm to this small eatery, with about 12 tables consisting of 2 and 4 tops, and 7 seats at a counter facing the kitchen / checkstand. Here's the hook for me: burger patties are formed and weighed individually (6 oz). Wow! Never see that before from a QSR type restaurant. Fries are cooked in cholesterol free oil. You can order a burger with all the fixin's that you'd like, or one of their package selections. I tried the Local burger, which was apparently the only one that was a double, but I didn't know it at the time. Regular fries, and a cookie dough shake completed the order. Wait time was 15 mins, which I would have been more upset about if I didn't get a seat at the counter. When my food came, the burger was ridiculous. It was in 2 wrappers, and when I unwrapped it, 8 mushrooms fell out of it. Halfway through it, I had to turn it upside down because the bottom bun was getting soggy! Sorry to say, but this was my first time eating grass-fed organic local beef, and it didn't WOW me. All extras on the burger overpowered the meat, and suddenly it was taking a backseat in flavor. And I love the flavor of a good burger. Another reviewer determined the reason to be that the meat was too lean, and I'm inclined to agree. I get the health/hippie fad, but for me, the most memorable burgers were more flavorful and fatty. The fries were standard, edging towards limp and unimaginative. The shake was fantastic, but I learned a lesson: cookie dough doesn't travel through straws very well. Cost: $18 before tip for local burger, small fries, and shake.
