Just walk into this place and the smell is intoxicating (only if you like meat of course). We ordered burgers, fries, and fried pickles. It was pretty busy when we went in but timing is everything so beware if you are in a hurry. The burger was really good, juicy and flavorful, and they had a gluten free bun option (and actually had it in stock unlike other places that list it but don't really have it). The best part was the fried pickles. First, they were NOT spears, which I think do not work, but chip form. The coating was perfect. You know how sometimes when you bite into something coated, it falls apart or worse the whole thing coated comes out and you are left with just coating. This pickle had a perfect crunch and you were able to bite through perfectly. The location is right in downtown Northampton and the restaurant had ample seating, with bar type seating if you are going solo. read more

The owners of this "Local" Burger restaurant are awesome...they care about their employees and they give back! Employees are courteous, polite, and just plain nice! They have takeout so if you are concerned about the COVID Virus...don't be...take-out with curbside. Looking for something a little different...order from Local Burger because you will not be disappointed! Love their Burgers! read more

Outside dining service was terrible, everything took a very long time, as the 1 server prioritized closing down tables as opposed to bringing food and drink out on time. Also we never even got our 2nd order of drinks at all, so I went in to get them 25 minutes later and was given the biggest attitude for it by the miserable middle-aged, unhappy-with-life cashier. The burgers were good but greasy, but would've been fine if napkins were given. I've never had a problem when I dine inside and order and get everything myself, but the outdoor experience was garbage. read more

Burgers were soooo greasy, sloppy and delicious. This is truly a binge! Sauces and fried items were great too. Definitely eat in-house AND don't where your fancy whites, these are not boutique burgers, they are giant slabs of dripping deliciousness that you will need a thorough cleanup after eating. read more

Incredibly slow service. Everyone in the restaurant was served and I had to go up to the counter and ask if my order was ready. It had been sitting on the back table for who knows how long. When I opened the bag, there was grease coating everything, literally everything-- all the bags, my burgers, each order of fries, grease was dripping from one of the bags of onion rings. So gross. The burgers were stuffed in the bottom of the bag underneath the fries and onion rings. The top bun of the teriyaki burger was like a sponge, fully wet with teriyaki sauce all the way through from top to bottom-- that top bun was inedible. I really wanted to like this place--it had great potential, but the inattentive staff and sloppy food means I won't be going back. read more

Adore their veggie burger! The fries are actually out of this world addicting here! Great burger option for noho, good use of outdoor/patio seating just outside of the restaurant. Nothing fancy, just straight to the point tasty food! read more

service is awsome; really accommodating. it can get very busy which makes wait times much longer but speaks to how yummy the food is.

This spot is never going out of business. You get burgers and you get fries. They always come out the same. You're going to enjoy it every time. The staff works hard, the prices work and they are open late nights on the weekends so you and your drunk friends can eat enough to prevent that pending hangover. Try the onion-rings and their selection of house-made condiments. read more

Omggggggggg the capt crunch hot dog tossed in honey bbq is the best food I've ever eaten in my life. Something about there honey bbq it's like real honey and really sweet, I asked to buy a bottle but they said it's a secret. Also kids love the capt crunch tenders. Cons are they are always always busy and table and toilets are a little dirty but busy usually means very good. read more

The burgers are simple but ridiculously delicious. While made in their kitchen, it has a backyard-cookout taste to it. I'm relatively new to fried pickles but man are these hands down the best I've ever had - not overly battered and still crispy. The fries are also great, I'm just more enamored with them pickles. I had the teriyaki burger with some pink in it. We were in a small party of four and we were comfortable here. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, answering our questions and being very hospitable. I would highly recommend and look forward to coming back in the spring!!! read more

Of all things to be completely emasculated by, a burger never crossed my mind. But, as most tales of misfortune go, it was, indeed, that which I least expected. Starving after a day of zip-lining, the sexiest Magellan this side of topsoil was tasked with finding something fast, on our current course and locally approved. Local Burger, be thy name. Very counter intuitive (literally, nyuknyuk!) and with a bit of a 50s kick, the interior welcomes all, especially those carrying booze (it's BYOB). Burgers, fries and shakes abound, an iPod spinning family friendly tracks and bottomless sodas from self-serve fountains, check, check and check. On slate, the Juicy Lucy sounds a little daunting - 12oz of beef that just ate a handful of American cheese, tossed on the griddle thus creating a pocket of molten dairy that will explode on your person and likely do this: http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/face_melt.gif Therefore, I opted for the Turkey Farmhouse Burger - fresh ground gobbler with cheddar, bacon and the maple mayo we decidedly licked clean whilst downing hand cut sweet potato fries. She, on the other hand, ordered the Juicy Lucy. That jerk. While my turkey burger rated just fine, her JL (which I had the good fortune to sample) is the epitome of food porn: steamy, meaty and dripping everywhere. Need I mention the fries again? Order them, extra sauce. My one regret? After the spectacle of watching my better half destroy Local's behemoth, I hadn't the heart to order a $5 Mexican chocolate shake. Seriously, I didn't have the heart. My ticker jumped ship after one bite of that Juicy Lucy, and yet, she housed it. God, I love that woman. read more

I have been to Local Burger a few times when I am Jones-ing for a burger in Northampton. They always deliver a good burger. They never deliver the best burger ... but it's always very good. It always takes a little longer than you might like to get your order - but it's never in the too long range and always reasonable (and mostly a function of always being busy). The menu board has tons of options for a burger joint. They have a wide variety of speciality burgers and toppings for burgers. If you can not dial in your perfect combo of topics here I would be surprised. They also have a variety of sides in addition to great fries. They even have poutine! Anyways - never disappoints for me. Not sure what would make it a 5. But I will take 4's 6 days a week! read more

Went here for lunch today and was impressed per usual! The food is fairly prized and freakin delicious!! If you like Burgers and hot dogs made with care then this is your place for lunch or dinner. I'm a big fan of Local Burger. My friends and I were some of the first people to frequent it and have always found the waitstaff to be really nice and helpful. In a time of over-processed fast food it's really nice to have handmade burgers and fries. Also there's always a piece of paper on the counter to tell you where the meat and potatoes that day are coming from. I do agree that when it gets busy they have some speed and space issues, but I think the good still way outweighs the bad. Also the owner has said he's working on getting a milkshake machine as soon as he earns enough for it and the upkeep (they're more expensive than you might think) so I think that will be cool too. read more

This place stays open until 3am. We were out and about at a local bar until last call. Then, we stopped here for some munchies. The lines here can get long from the night crowd. However, we were able to find seats. The burger was ok (nothing too spectacular). We also ordered the onion rings (very thick and oily) and the Captain Crunch chicken tenders which were slightly over fried. read more

Really great big burgers and easily customizable! Their french fries are really good as well and a small is enough for 2 :) Onion rings are the huge! Favorite part of this place - open late! So most people will swing by here after the bars and the lines get pretty long. Restaurant setting - open, hip, group friendly Service - awesome and friendly! They bring your food to the table by your reciept number. I've never seen them annoyed, considering the amount of drunk people. Highly suggest the "local burger"! read more

How does a fat, juicy, old fashioned hamburger sound? Now times that by 5 and that's local. Everything comes out hot so be sure not to burn your mouth. The hand cut fries are seasoned to perfection but the real deal is the Mac and cheese bites with chipotle dipping sauce. I ordered the juicy Lucy (hamburger with cheese inside it!). Warning, roll up your sleeves it's going to make a mess. I recommend that you take little bites before you get to the cheese so the inside of the burger cools off. Can't wait to go back for another! read more

I've been here twice now and while I never left wanting my money back, I have wished that I'd gone elsewhere in NOHO. I'm all about a good burger whether it be a $15 fancy burger or a simple well made $5 burger I'm down. Food: I've tried two different burgers now and each one left me full but the ingredients/ sauce flavor profile seemed muted. For example I had the Local burger with ranch and buffalo sauce and I could barely taste the sauces. 2nd burger was the same way, not a bad burger but all the flavors muddled together. The standout for me is the sides. I really enjoyed the onion rings with the chipotle ketchup. Giant rings and ample tasty breading with an awesome ketchup... sign me up. My lady wasn't as enthused as I, she felt the breading was way too heavy. I've also had the poutine fries and the buffalo blue fries. Of the two the buffalo blue were definitely the winner. The fries married well with our burgers and IPA's (BYOB). The poutine fries were average, I felt they could have done a better job integrating the cheese into the fries, and the gravy was just ok. Ambiance: The service is friendly and the wait isn't too bad. They have several tables and bar type seating with a pretty good size table overlooking the street. They have a regular fountain drink setup and the ability to bring your own alcohol is a definite plus. Bottom Line: If in the area its worth checking out. Most people seem to hold this place in pretty high regard but IMO there are better burger places that are cheaper in the surrounding area, and better places to eat within a two block radius of this place so I find it doubtful that I'll return. read more

Got the Westhampton Burger. Decent sized burger for only $8 (didn't get fries, just the burger). I've come here quite a few times in my life but this was the 1st time I've been back there in almost 2 years. I've never had any complaints about the food, it's always good food at a reasonable price. It did take awhile (like 20-25 minutes) to get my burger because it was decently busy. But I found it odd that they had 3 people in the back cooking, and one person running the register who also had to clean all the tables AND bring out all the food. You'd think at least one person in the back would split duties bringing food out or cleaning tables. It added at least 5-10 minutes to my wait time and just doesn't seem like the best system. read more

One of two nearby places that serve good hamburgers. Fries and onion rings are also worth the trip. Generally busy, so prepare to wait.

I am really torn here because I love this place, and their burgers- but last time I was there I noticed they don't toast their buns, which would really make it a true 4-star place. I'n sure you could probably ask for toasted, but it would be a nice addition. Otherwise- I love their local burgers, and delicious sides! When driving through I make sure to stop here, and actually get excited upon this very thought. If you're craving a burger in the area, definitely check this place out!! read more

I visited this place on my way home from UMass Amherst. It was decent and the cap'n crunch coated hot dog was interesting but I'm not dreaming of this place at night. Situated in a liberal town of 28,000, Local Burger is a family-owned burger joint/diner. It's a homely place to eat, and was definitely packed when I consumed lunch on a Saturday at 2pm. Exposed brick walls, checkered floor, and a menu on a chalkboard adds more charm to this small eatery, with about 12 tables consisting of 2 and 4 tops, and 7 seats at a counter facing the kitchen / checkstand. Here's the hook for me: burger patties are formed and weighed individually (6 oz). Wow! Never see that before from a QSR type restaurant. Fries are cooked in cholesterol free oil. You can order a burger with all the fixin's that you'd like, or one of their package selections. I tried the Local burger, which was apparently the only one that was a double, but I didn't know it at the time. Regular fries, and a cookie dough shake completed the order. Wait time was 15 mins, which I would have been more upset about if I didn't get a seat at the counter. When my food came, the burger was ridiculous. It was in 2 wrappers, and when I unwrapped it, 8 mushrooms fell out of it. Halfway through it, I had to turn it upside down because the bottom bun was getting soggy! Sorry to say, but this was my first time eating grass-fed organic local beef, and it didn't WOW me. All extras on the burger overpowered the meat, and suddenly it was taking a backseat in flavor. And I love the flavor of a good burger. Another reviewer determined the reason to be that the meat was too lean, and I'm inclined to agree. I get the health/hippie fad, but for me, the most memorable burgers were more flavorful and fatty. The fries were standard, edging towards limp and unimaginative. The shake was fantastic, but I learned a lesson: cookie dough doesn't travel through straws very well. Cost: $18 before tip for local burger, small fries, and shake. I may give it another try before I leave NoHo, but I'm going with a 3 for now. read more

I've been a vegetarian for 25 years. This past weekend we popped in and I tried your special: The Impossible Burger (vegan, plant based with fermented heme) and honest to god it was, by a wide margin, the best veggie burger I have ever had. You don't expect that from a burger joint that specializes in locally raised beef but it was truly amazing. I beg you, I implore you, to please add it to your regular menu or I will just be dreaming about it for the rest of my life! read more

Given all the positive reviews, I've been meaning to try out Local Burger these last three years. Only now have gotten around to it. I can only look back now on these past few years with regret. What have I been eating? The staff promptly brought my burger out, and the burgers were cooked to precision pink or no pink depending on preference. The 6 oz patties were juicy. Both the burgers and handcut fries were perfectly spiced and seasoned. This is the late-night place to go. read more

The Portabella burger I got was amazing! Plus, I love that you can personalize it in like 1 million ways. She was super nice and helpful. I like the diner revive inside too! read more

I was looking forward to this spot bc they have options to my liking, including grass fed beef. I got a self made BBQ, pineapple, sautéed onion and mushroom burger. I was so full I couldn't even eat my sweet potato fries, which could have used a little more cooking. Atmosphere was ok, kinda dark and not even chairs for guests. (It is summer and there were a lot of rowdy children.) but this is a burger spot. The reason I didn't give 4 stars is bc my stomach has been killing me since I left 3 days ago! Sharp pains, bloating and the like. I don't have these type of reactions so I thought it very odd. To the point where I had to cancel plans bc my stomach is killing me. Not sure if I'm the only one but I thought it worth mentioning. read more

I get to come here every couple of months. Great food, friendly service. I got fries, poutine and 2 burgers to go, with a kids meal. 20min for food made fresh to order. The food travels well and reheats well. Poutine of course were a bit soggy after a 20min drive home, but that is my fault. Shitty service at Dobra left me with less time to enjoy my food here. Only negative to consider is if you are vegan, they cook their vegan options on the same grill as the meat, so it isnt really vegan friendly. (This was the complaint that my vegan friend with me had. She couldnt order the new vegan burger advertised with NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS, because the server was honest that they cook it on the same grill, which she appreciated as animal fat makes her wicked sick) I will be back soon. Highly recommend. read more

While enjoying the shops nearby, my friend and I decided to try Local Burger for lunch on a Saturday. We walked in around 1:30 pm and there was quite the crowd! I had a good feeling coming here for the first time knowing it was busy -- a true sign of good food! I ordered the West Hampton burger. It had all my favorite things including a juicy burger, thick cut bacon, BBQ sauce, ranch, and delicious cheese. My friend got the grass fed burger and was very happy with the flavor! The last thing we added to our order was the poutine. I'm a sucker for cheese curds, what can I say? This poutine was great, although slightly heavy handed with the gravy. The fries were tasty but unfortunately a little soggy due to the extra gravy. Overall I really enjoyed the laid back, diner feel of Local Burger. You order and pay first at the counter, grab a seat, display your receipt on the table, and the staff brings your food to you. A great place for a quick bite. read more

While on my work travels to Northampton, I had to have a burger. You see, in the magical land of truly public healthcare to the north, our burgers are always cooked to well done, except for the rare (ha! get it?) place that dares to risk the wrath of health inspectors in the name of a juicy burger. With that in mind, coming across Local on Main St. made it an obvious choice for my second supper in "NoHo" * Walking in, it was immediately welcoming with cool, burger- and food-related art adorning the exposed brick walls and jazz music playing in the background. There's a constant line while my co-worker and I were there, but it was never out of control and moved along quickly. After perusing the menu, I settled on the 6oz grass-fed patty made with local beef, naturally, applewood smoked bacon and American cheddar to top it off, in addition to the automatic toppings of lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions. To complete my Americana meal, I got an order of their hand-cut fries and a pop. One downfall of the place seems to be the ordering system and/or how they expedite meals. There is a fairly long wait for my food, and my co-worker, who ordered immediately before me, is done his meal before mine ever arrived. As we were given numbers when we ordered, it was easy to tell that the kitchen was all over the place when orders well before and after mine come out of the kitchen in a haphazard manner. That being said, once my meal arrived, it was well worth the wait. The beef itself was automatically cooked to medium, with a good beefy flavour and was decently juicy and not dry as some grass-fed beef can be. It was well seasoned and grill marks added a little to the flavour, although there's no crust or significant char. The cheddar melted nicely although it was quite mild and doesn't have the salty and friendly tanginess that one likes on a burger. The bacon was smoky and thick, although it wasn't quite as crisp as I would have preferred. The pickles were thick and had a great crunch, a far cry from the floppy pieces of brined cucumber that you get from the grocery store. The heavily sesame seeded bun held up to the task of the burger and didn't 't get in the way either. Last but not least were the fries, which had a nice crispness to them and were perfectly salted already. Even better, they maintained their crispness until the last fry, not that that took too long. Barring a few glitches, my Local experience was solid. If I had known about their BYOB policy, I would have brought some of my own to imbibe and Jack up my Coke. *I use this term derisively. Northampton should not be called NoHo. SoHo is called what it is as it is the area SOuth of HOuston St. NoHa would make more sense. Just because the town is kinda artsy, doesn't mean you get to pervert the nickname of somewhere else. Quit it. read more

This was me giving into my husband for dinner out, since I don't eat beef or gluten, a hamburger joint didn't seem like it was going to be a great option for me. I was so wrong , I got a turkey burger and gluten free bun and it was delicious! Normally turkey burgers at restaurants are frozen or just plain ground turkey, and this was obviously created in house with delicious seasoning ! What a wonderful treat! The food here is great, the alcohol selection is okay at best.. I wish they still did BYOB. I LOVE the captain crunch chicken tenders and the captain crunch hot dog, I get the hot dog with honey bbq instead of the menu toppings, high suggestion giving it a try!
