Love this place to have something to drink and watch games, I don't mean to be harsh but the food is not good, and the fries are especially terrible. The burger patties are also thin which makes it hard to justify paying $10 for it. I have seen an older couple order the nachos and fries leaving most of the meal uneaten and complaining to the staff saying there was hardly any cheese on it. And the fries were burnt. Perhaps the owner will make some changes with the quality of the food. (All the staff are great.) Hopefully this will review will bring this to the managements attention. read more

Hmmmm, no current reviews. The most recent was from November of 2024. Well, here I am to provide a more up to date review. The Toasted Owl is connected to Fitzwilly's. Not sure if they are owned by the same person or what the relationship is. Fitzwilly's does have a more extensive menu, but the Toasted Owl had some brews on-tap, that Fitzwilly's did not. And those were 2 ciders, a pomegranate and a blueberry cider. I tried a sample of each. Both had their own unique flavors, with the pomegranate being a little more sweet than the blueberry. And both were good. But i went with the blueberry. Mike was the bartender and he filled the cider to the very top of the glass. The menu isn't large, and I had 3 items I was eyeballing, the crispy chicken cobb salad, the Mexican street corn flatbread and the wings. I asked Mike what he would recommend and without hesitation he said the wings. I went with an order of 12. With that order you can get 2 sauces. SO I went with the Solid Gold and the Garlic Parm. And, or course, a side of bleu cheese. These were some good wings, and I got a few more than 12. They were cooked perfectly, came out hot, plenty of meat and the sauces were good. This definitely filled my belly. I highly recommend. Don't skip on this one. read more

I came here for a light dinner with family after graduation festivities. The server was attentive and patient with our indecisiveness. In the end we ordered our old favorite: the boneless wings! They never disappoint. They were hot and juicy. We had the buffalo, solid gold, and bbq. All flavors were tasty and they were served with ranch, blue cheese, and celery. We also had a kids meal for the kiddo she loved it. And we shared the nachos with beef. The nachos were lacking on the cheese which made them all dry but the salsa, and sour cream, helped bring them back to life a little. The tvs were loud so it made the boisterous group next to us even louder. But hey it's a sports bar. Our server turned down the tv which helped them quiet a bit more. And when they left it was a more peaceful experience. Didn't get any pics because we were too busy chatting. read more

Just LOVE their "rude" schtick like they are Dick's Last Resort-type place! Missing the HUMOR of Dick's, the bartender here was just plain rude. Like mean and rude! She seemed really put out by having ~7 people in the bar. She may not have had support for like running food that night - it happens - but 1/2 the time she was just standing in front of her computer so it wasn't like she was rushing around. Rough night I guess! Not sure what has changed here (and at Fitz's) but - not the same as it was pre-pandemic! read more

Had dinner and drinks last night. Server was awesome, kitchen was not. I ordered French onion soup and it came warm, including the top. I sent it back and told them they could nuke it to save time. It still took quite a bit of time to get it back. We also ordered nachos, very little cheese on them and again, not hot. Sent them back and we receive them back again the exact same way. One of the things nachos are famous for is cheese. Obviously the cook did not know what they were doing. Very disappointed. Manager took everything off the bill except the drinks. Great sports bar in Northampton with friendly waitstaff, good beer selection, and tasty bar food. Lots of burger options on the menu. Also the "build your own" Mac and cheese was awesome - we loaded it up with mushrooms, caramelized onions and bacon. Delicious, extra creamy, and served hot in a skillet! Their house salad was also nice. Prices were fair and we got prime seating to watch the US Open on one of their big-screen TVs. read more

I must say my friends and I love this place. We've been a few times when we come to downtown Northampton and it hasn't disappointed us yet. It's attached to fitzwillys so you can bounce back and forth. The actual bar is pretty large; it stretches the entire inside as an oval. On the weekends it does get packed so that can be frustrating but the bartenders are attentive so the wait never gets too long. The prices are fair and again, probably the best bartenders in town. This is my new go to bar in NoHo! read more

Stopped here for lunch the other day, New Years day to be precise, and was pleasantly suprised with the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Ordered the Fish and chips, my wife ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. I was going to get a burger but they said they cook them all the same way, that there was no "rare, med rare" etc., so Fish and Chips it was. Too bad as I am not a big fan of cooks, or chefs that don't have the courage to cook meat as it was intended. I took a star away for this reason so if you agree with me, fine. If you think red meat MUST be cooked to death, then I guess you'll have to adjust the score accordingly. Having said all that, the entire rest of the meal was great. There's peanuts to snack on and just the right number of TV's for those that can't live with out it and not too many for us that can. read more

I had a major blowout at a restaurant in Northampton. Fitzwillies was closed. It's adjacent to FitzWilly's. The Toasted Owl. Unfortunately for the last two days Fitzwillies was closed for renovations but it's not well documented at their website. That's unfortunate. It was a absolute waste of my money. My experience at the toast owl begins now. I asked about my food then they brought it out and it was cold. I think if I didn't ask pI'd never get it. It was nearly a one hour wait. And it tasted horrible. I gave them a 5 dollar tip. Just as a joke. It was comical the manager defended the bartenders exclusively. It was comical. They take the orders but also they are selling meals. I guess it's not an issue I could go for dinner and have my meal for breakfast considering how slow they are. I went up one side and down at the manager I don't think he's happy with me and I really don't care. In the final analysis after I complained enough I didn't have to pay for the meal. And since I had three bites out of the meal I don't think I should pay. If you want to have drinks go there but I wouldn't bother with the food. That bar should be in Holyoke where they have very low standards. read more

Toasted (as most of us refer to it) is always a lot of fun. At first, I only came here for drinks late-night on a given night Thurs-Sat. It is always crowded and noisy; no dancing. Don't come if that isn't your thing. Tons and tons of TVs - perhaps the closest thing to a sports bar I've enjoyed in Northampton, as they are always playing sports. A biiiig round bar, with very competent bartenders as many flavored vodkas as you can think of...plus a new beer made just for them by BBC, a local brewery about 20 minutes away (Toasted Owl Ale). Staff is always friendly. The food is actually really good - hello, burgers for around $3? They're not huge, but the perfect size for me as I can eat the whole thing, not leave a bite, and not be too full or still hungry. Their solid gold sauce (generally used for wings) is amazing; always get some to dip my fries in. The menu is not extensive; apps, sandwiches, pizzas, a few salads and a few entrees. Haven't tried it all but it all sounds good. Pop next door to Fitzwilly's if you want more choices. read more

so we ate next door, had a great waitress and food was excellent. we decided to pop in next door for a couple drinks, decided to have a shot. The guy was polite and said he didn't know how to make it so we told him and he did a great job, an hour later we decide to do another but he's not there so we ask this woman bartender ( long blonde hair) don't know her name. Well she made my sisters shot wrong and had to remake it and she slams the glass on the bar then starts talking about us to another customer knowing we can hear her. So I asked for three shots of after 5's she didn't know what it was so I told her and she says it's called something else. she makes them slamming each glass on the bar. This is a 2.5 star review, just to be clear. I grew up in Hamp and Toasted is relatively new. Somehow everyone wants to go here, probably because it's connected to Fitzwilly's and that makes for 3 bars (fitzy's has two) all in one place. The problem with this bar is the actual bar itself. The Toasted Owl space is more than adequate, but the designer insisted on making the giant oval bar so huge that no one can move around it. If you see a friend across the bar, there is literally no way you can get over to them. It's ridiculous! Meanwhile, the two bartenders inside have more space than I have ever seen. They're spreading their wings in there and all the patrons get shafted as a result. Go to Toasted to get a booth or something, not to pick up girls or socialize much. The lighting is too bright for many of the locals to look attractive and even if they did, your approach would be so obvious by asking 20 people to move just to hit on them that it wouldn't be worth it. In short, this is Fitzwilly's younger, dorkier cousin. read more

I will say the boneless chicken tenders were delicious (why I gave them 3 stars). The burger was greasy and over cooked. The bar tender was a bit inattentive and it took some work a drink. The place looks a lot bigger than it actually is, as they have strategically replaced the back wall with a mirror. So it is quite amusing to watch unsuspecting people - friends and strangers alike - bump right into the mirror whilst heading towards the "back room". And if a bar can provide that kind of amusement, it's already received high marks in my book. Of course, no one really reads my book, so take that with as many grains of salt as you wish. The Owl is a fun little spot. There's some seating towards the front and off to the sides, but mainly it consists of one big circular bar. Kind of an awkward set-up if there isn't enough room for you and your party to sit all together. The drinks are not skimpy and your wallet won't mind the night out. The food is actually from the joint next door, so if you're a fan of Fitzwilly's, you'll be a fan of the food at The Owl. If not, then you can always just keep yourself from being hungry. Lots and lots of televisions, different games on each of them so everyone can enjoy. Not a lot of space so it never feels crowded or too loud. The music is enjoyable and not overpowering. The setting of the place is actually really cool, with the brick wall and the old church prie dieu. Just wanted to be clear that I have only been here twice and I have never had food here. The first time I was here we sat at the bar. We both had something off the beer tap and it was rather tasty. They have a rather decent selection. The bartender was awesome! The hubby and I were on a day drinking date and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was nice and quiet and we thought, this would be a perfect place to come back to watch a game! The next time we came here, it was with a couple of our friends from out of town. The place was rather packed, which I would expect for a Friday night. This time, everyone ordered something off the tap, I decided to venture out and get a bloody Mary. That was bad on my part, it was awful. I will never do that again. It somehow tasted like cocktail sauce with vodka, not sure what their mix is. Maybe it was watered down bloody Mary mix? I am not sure, but I will never order that again from them. Seemingly the least pretentious establishment in the most pretentious town of all time. No BS here. Pretty good beer selection. Attentive staff that doesn't act too busy to help you out. If I ever find myself in Northampton again (it would not be by choice) this is the only place I would visit for a drink. They also don't bust balls about ID, which is apparently a national pastime in that town. One photo ID when you're 30 years old should be enough. Save us from the hipsters!! read more

Love this place. Anytime wife and I are downtown we stop in for our usual order of loaded nachos mucho grande, sloppy Jose quesadillas, wedge salad and two Hawaiian beach burgers (beef, pineapple, bacon and teriyaki sauce) cooked perfect medium well for our entrees. Food is always spot on and I'm a major foodie and can tell when the kitchen is slipping and this place turns it out alway's right. My wife can't tell half the time when her food is burnt since her mouth is like a trash truck but with this place that's never been a problem. Good selection of craft local beers like Sam summer and blue moon. Service is always great. The one time we changed our usual order to add on Irish nachos and the kitchen forgot to make them they totally gave us free Mac n cheese with loads of andouille sausage and an ice cream sundae for desert. Can't beat that. Lastly, if your like me and hate it when they have the volume off on the tvs then this place is for you. They have the volume up on all the tvs that way you can hear the sox game, Patriots, nascar, UMass football and WWE blasting all at the same time!! Parking was simple, on street metered. Our server was horrible, she acted as if we were bothering her, had an attitude that should put her in another profession. I use to love this place. Such a disappointment now. I'm currently here and only half the tv's are working. It's a Sunday and I'm here for football and wings and my beer has been empty for 35 minutes. Only one bartender and there far more focused on carry out orders than regular customers. If you're looking for an upscale, classy, or sophisticated bar, Toasted Owl isn't for you. But for the nights where you want to get out, enjoy being unpretentious, and be in a loud and busy atmosphere, it's perfect. If people watching is your thing, then you'll definitely have some fun with that as well - plenty of the college bro types who will be hitting on everything that moves, the not-so-classy girls looking to score as many free drinks as possible, the sports fans cheering at the TV, and even older couples just looking to have fun and toss back some drinks. Toasted Owl is simple and doesn't try to be anything it isn't, and I like that. The food fits the atmosphere perfectly, which is a big plus for me. Simple pub food in good portions and dirt cheap. The boneless wings are some of the best I've had in the area outside of Hanger in Amherst and the fries are pretty good as well. Service has always been quick and friendly; I've been given free samples and good recommendations when I can't make up my mind about a beer and I've never felt hassled or pressured into ordering another. It's loud, casual, and fun without being a dive, so it's great when you need a change of pace from a lot of the other bars in town. Combine that with good service and cheap pub food that hits the spot, and it's easy to see why Toasted Owl has become my go-to for when I don't feel like cooking and want to enjoy a couple beers. read more

Came in for dinner while traveling for work. I sat at the bar. I got a wachusett beer that was delicious. After much debate i ordered the Vermont burger with bacon. The maple aioli was absolutely AMAZING. It was also topped with cheddar and onions. I ordered it with sweet potato tots. They were good, however that good description turned into life changing when i requested a side of the maple aioli to dip them in. Delicious mouthgasms resulted! Their prices are super reasonable, i think my burger was $10. They also have specials for each night of the week. I was kind of sad i wasn't there in Mac and cheese night, because the pictures i saw on yelp looked so good. If I'm ever back there, i will be making the trip to try that next. read more

The Toasted Owl is still one of the best places to get wings in MA, I have yet to find a place that does boneless wings as well as Toasted in NYC ( Atomic Wings is okay but can be really greasy). It is part of the reason why I still make the trip back up to where I used live a few years ago. Please allow me to geek out over boneless wings. Many restaurants/bars either only offer uniformly shaped, stamped from a machine, processed chicken fingers or they only offer tiny, little strips. That is not the case at Toasted. The size of their boneless wings are very large, it's like they took a chicken breast and split it into 2 pieces, 3 at the most and battered them. There are twelve sauces you can try. I suggest trying both the Solid Gold and the Sweet Sriracha, they are habit forming. Also, nothing irritates me more than having to ask or pay for extra blue cheese for dipping. The Toasted Owl easily provides you with 2 to 3 times what other places would offer. The place is not that large and they only have maybe 7-8 tables. I would usually visit on Sundays to watch football while having a few beers along with the wings and maybe a pizza. Their pizzas are tasty and about 10" in diameter. I'd suggest the carne asada, the blue shroom, BBQ chicken, or the Margherita. They also have over a dozen beers on tap, maybe even closer to 20. All in all, a pretty nice place to get your grub on. read more

Stopped here on a mid week afternoon and ordered the boneless wings and a beer. The first thing you notice is that there are PLENTY of TV's. This looks like a fantastic place to go to watch a game. The bar goes all the way around and no matter where you sit, you get a good view of a big screen TV. Casual sports bar atmosphere here. As far as the wings, they were very 6 large very large strips of chicken, but they appeared to be cut boneless chicken breast pieces. They were huge pieces, but chicken breast as boneless wings just didn't do it for me as they were dry. Next time I would just order the regular bone in wings. Solid beer selection when you can try them before they kick. I've been twice and had to ask for a number of options before I could get a beer they actually had. Still they offer a cool selection of local and other craft products. Food has been average, but not un enjoyable. Service was prompt from the bar, not too bad to look at either. What a great bar to stand around and be seen in! If youre into that lol... A big open room in an old New England building, with soaring ceilings. Good to hang with friends and talk. Drinks are a lil pricey, typical of Northampton. The food is from Fitz Willy's, owned by the same people. It's pretty simple food, comfort food, made the way you would expect it. I always have mixed feelings about coming here. I know the food is decent and you can always catch any sporting event here. This is one place in town that actually has several big screens that you can see and everything is well placed so it doesnt matter where you sit or more likely stand. My safe order is always the pizza. the food isnt the same as Fitzwilly's. Another good pro about this place is the plentiful draft beers, however they seem to charge more than the local market. I'm also not very keen on the patrons especially after 9. i would rate this more of a college age bar/ whichever event is a the hotel. Northampton lacks any true sports bar and this is best you'll do. I'd rather stay home with my flat screen, my beer and my friends. This is where Amherst does a better job in accommodating sports fans. read more

If you like sports and lots of large glowing TVs in your face, this is WHERE you want to be! Bar Food: Quality!!! Wings are kick ass and their sweet tots are sweet and, also, uhm.... sweet! (?)
