Recently discovered Pic's through my son. Pic's is a very friendly place with staff that is very warm and attentive. We like to sit at the bar because the bartenders making you feel at home. I throughly enjoy Pics burgers and pizza. My son loves Monday night wing night. I have tried to replicate their wings and my son says "not even close." This place was recommended by a friend of a friend. They come here to unwind and love the atmosphere. I stopped in for lunch. They were open and it was great. My husband ordered the Rueben sandwich and let me tell you it's the tasty sandwich ever. We would definitely be back as they don't make excellent rueben sandwiches like that anymore. This is the best local bar. The food is fabulous - not just the great pizza! Calzones are really good. Live music on many weekends and outdoor area. Triple D recommendation and one of the D'S is for diamond. Bar is fantastic with great beers on tap and my wife ordered a mix drink "blue Hawaiian" made it perfect. We ordered the white pizza which was made fantastic not only by the thin crust but the ricotta made it creamy and delicious. Also heard from friends to order the teriyaki steak tips. These are not tips people they are an entire steak cut into strips. Please excuse the pics. There was more on the plate we just sampled before taking the pics. I am going to become a regular. Not just for the food but because of the staff as well. My wife noticed a group come in while we were eating and they were leaving because they didn't see any seats enough for their party of friend. They were leaving and one of the owners went out and brought them back in and made a table and spot for them. Also the owner got them a waitress right on the spot. That's service. Ordered takeout.. person on the phone who took my order was sweet and friendly so I expected my pickup to be as equally pleasant. Apparently you pick up your food at the bar which is completely crowded at noon with a bunch of old drunks completely surrounding the entire area so you can't even get close to the bartender to pick up your order. When I finally squeezed in the bartender had the personality of a door knob.. rude, eye rolling and sighing like I was ruining her day making her go to the back to get my order. She didn't speak a word to me, just threw down my food and the receipt and walked away. Food was ok but nothing I'd ever go out of my way to get again. read more

Pics is all that you want from Holyoke. Not being from the arrea, Pics has shown me all of the fun that Holyoke can be. I have met the old Irish guy that told me if I see him I've been at the bar too long. I was also one of the few Giants fans there for the Superbowl and not beat up. It's a great place to hang out and have a beer and pizza. Food can be hit or miss the bartenders will tell you which are your best choices if you ask. Asked for a medium rare burger and was told I wouldn't get it that way, the bartenders are great. Only in there twice and I was someone they knew, I like that. I only live down the street so it's a piece of cake to walk home after a fun night. Big parking lot with a lot of moguls behind the bar, be careful during the winter. The only thing I wish is that they had a better tap selection, but it appears to be a bar that knows when they have a good thing going. They have a good crowd that is there regularly and will keep their beers on tap and in bottles. Love that they have Paper City on tap McNeils I haven't seen anywhere else but not a lot of rotation. read more

It's kind of dark, very loud, and if you blink you'll miss it driving by. There's a dirt parking lot out back if you can't find something on the street. There's a nicer, brighter bar right next door to this one. But it's the pizza that separates Pic's from all the others around here. We had the Buffalo wings and the Mac and Cheese bites to start. Both were okay, not great. The wings had a classic buffalo sauce on them. A little hot without making you sweat. They are definitely worth the $0.39 wing special they advertise for Monday nights, but not the very best in Holyoke (see JP'S for those). The mac and cheese in the bites seemed like it was from the box. Again, they were decent but not memorable. Then came the pizza. Yum yum. A classic thin crust out of a wood fired oven. It was topped generously and cooked to perfection. Crispy but not burned. The sauce was light, which I prefer. The pizza makes it worth the trip. The menu is not real vast but there are a few other options if you're not feeling pizza. But really, as other reviews before mine have confirmed, the pizza is unique to this area and must be had. read more

I've been here several times. Each time I was very pleased with the service. I came again the other night, to celebrate finishing my first year of grad school with my roommate, and after two drinks, I was denied. The previous times I was here, I was never denied a drink, but this time I was. The bartender told me it was because they were strong drinks. I'm not from MA so I don't really know what the procedure is with serving alcohol, but I've never heard of such a thing. My roommate and I weren't being loud or irresponsible. We just went there for drinks and that's it. Very upset by this. Now I know next time to go somewhere else when I want to celebrate. read more

A nice little gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside but this place is worth trying. They have standars pizza, sandwiches and paata dishes along with great daily special dishes. 5 times i have ordered to-go and have been told to pick up in a half hour. Then I get there and they tell me they never got the order and they start making the pizza. Another 1/2 hour wait. Absolutely love this place. The pizza is always amazing and the staff is very nice. There's always a game on at least one of their many TV's and the staff is always willing to put a game on for you. They've got keno if that's your thing and plenty of seating. The only negative I can think of is that there never seem to be any open seats at the bar. This is the best pizza in Western Massachusetts and I am not a pizza person. The service is also delightful.

My wife and I have been frequenting Pick's Place for Pizza, Ribs, and Beers for the last month or so. We usually drive up to Noho, but recently grew tired of driving all the way up there as we live here in Holyoke. We feel Highland/Picks has brought a much needed easy going atmosphere and a great value to the neighborhood. They offer really good brick oven pizza(seriously) about 7 or 8 beers on tap (including Paper City and McNeil's, not bad) and very generous mixed drinks.....you can count on a varied crowd of young and old all mixing together for a good time. They often have live music as well. Lastly there is practically no sign as they are going for the speakeasy thing, so to find the place drive up Hampden St. past Elizurs pub and they are just up on the left, look for the neon signs in the window. I give this the highest rating for one reason and one reason only; the pizza. I have been to Frank Pepe's in New Haven, Reginas in Boston, Red Rose in Springfield, (and dozens of places in western Massachusetts) but this place cooks the freshest, crispest, and tastiest brick oven pizza on the planet. Service can be spotty and the bar is just that, but order the pizza and you will be very impressed. read more

Been here a few times now. Each time a different crowd and each time different service. Let's start with the important part-the food. I've tried their pizzas, cheesesteak grinder, mac and cheese bites and fries. All good bar food. The mac and cheese bites were delicious even though I'm sure they are just frozen bought in food they fry up. Now the service. Each time it's different. Once I had a really good waitress who was really great at checking on us. I've also had the other end of the spectrum where our waitress disappeared for literally a half hour. Where did she go!? No one in the place had seen her. So it's hit or miss on the service but good drinks and food might make up for it. read more
