I've been frequenting Linda's since I moved to Seattle 3 years ago. There has definitely been a customer service improvement since my last review. Every time I have been there in the last year everyone has been super friendly and helpful. even got a candle in my birthday breakfast toast from the servers . I came in the summer and sat out on the back patio. It gets pretty crowded out there, so the service suffers like most places. The drinks are just OK, but a pretty good price. I know people who are obsessed with Linda's but I don't get it. For me it was just like...yeah, this is a bar. Also something odd, the two times I've been to Linda's there are dogs in the bar and out on the patio but apparently they don't allow dogs? I think they just look the other way sometimes but definitely not for rowdy dogs. Overall this is a divey (read: sticky looking with one restroom per gender) place that has decent prices for alcohol and food that is decent. read more

I got a grilled cheese here after all the good reviews and the waiter's recommendation. It was entirely underwhelming! It came out kind of cold and so the bread was really crunchy. There was also not a ton of cheese on it so I was disappointed. I chose onion rings as a side and those were good! Standard but good. We ate here because we were meeting a large group here for drinks on a weekday night. The wait staff was super super friendly and accommodating as we moved tables and chairs all around in the top floor. I did wish that it was not as dark though! Every time I come here the wait for food is very long. They should call this place "Linda's Really Slow". Takes at least 40 minutes for food to arrive. The service was good and waiters are nice tho. This is a very enjoyable breakfast joint. The wait staff were top notch and provided so excellent recommendations. We started our breakfast with a pitcher of blackberry mimosa, which was filled to the brim. It was a very enjoyable breakfast drink. For food we got 2 things. The scramble we got came with the biggest slices of avacado. Really great and very large portions. The other dish was the steak and eggs. The steak was bigger than expected and cooked a perfect rare (which is rare for breakfast steaks). All in all, top quality and huge portions. I recommend this for those who are super hungry and crave solid breakfast food. read more

Came here for some beer and food after a long day of flying. The food was average for a bar. The nachos were a bit soggy from the chili so probably would not order those again. The burger was good but the best part were the fries. Something about the crispiness and seasoning. Got a pitcher of beer for about $15. Overall decent experience for a late dinner although we were told to sit down where we could find a table and the only one available was kind of dirty and it took a little bit for the servers to clear off the dirty old plates. read more

I feel like I would like this place if I was already drunk and/or if the bartender wasn't such a douche. I was visiting Seattle with a couple friends this weekend and one of them wanted to go here cuz it's supposedly the last place Kurt Cobain was seen alive. Alright cool. We stopped by on a rainy Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The staff seemed decent. Not super friendly but did their jobs. The bartender asked what I wanted and I asked if they had any specialty cocktails and he said no we don't have special teas. Lmao. Then he just pointed me to their menu and said they had some brunch drinks. Ok. I just ordered a Moscow mule and that shit was $10... so this place just looks divey but the prices are avg. Everything was fine and dandy until I whipped out my cookie. I am sitting there eating it when the bartender walks over to me all serious like what is that???? I'm like it's a cookie... He's like is it weed? I say no... he then proceeds to give me a lecture about how it looks like weed, I can't bring that here and blah blah it's like bringing your own booze to a bar. He was really rude about it and even threw in "I mean if you were at least discreet about it I wouldn't care" hahaha! Do you even know what discreet means? I'm sitting quietly minding my own business (not screaming, belligerent, demanding, etc... like doing absolutely nothing to draw attention towards myself) and you chose to make a bee line toward me anyway. You took the time and precious effort to come over and give me a lecture like I was some trouble maker. Chill the f out please entitled bartender. I wasn't doing shit. Made a big deal out of nada. Great energy, and like it says on the walls, "...Friendly People." Intense place for pool! It is great to watch the game, and meditative when you play. It's kinda like blood lust. Always great service. Great food with a diverse veggie menu. Nothing like Seattle veggie bar menus, and Linda's has one of the best veggie bar menus. Not a big fan of the animal heads. I just keep waiting for them to fall, and when they do, i know I will get startled and spill my beer, or miss my shot. So there's that! read more

Was there recently for a happy hour. Very cool place. Spacious and interesting decor. Lots a decent beers. And sometimes you just need a can. They got cans of Hamms, maybe some other canned beer. Don't remember (and not for the reason you think mind you). I just gravitated towards that one. But the real surprise was some of the appetizers they had. The buffalo wings were good, but I'd be hard pressed to find much better onion rings. Those were utterly fantastic. Great seasoning on them. Fried well. Quite substantial. read more

Now that the weather is warming up, get yourself to the outdoor patio out back! It proved a great place to unwind with coworkers on a sunny Seattle Friday afternoon. Yes, it's a dive bar, but the drinks, food and service were way better than they had to be. Our server specifically was really sharp; he knew the entire draft list and didn't mess up a single drink or food order for our 20+ person party. Some would call this man a hero! Also, I appreciated the self-serve water cooler outside. Your request for ice water at a dive bar is usually the first thing that is forgotten, so this helps mitigate that problem and (hopefully) a bit of your hangover in the morning. read more

Initially had a great time, staff was friendly until the end where the male server accused my table of harassing somebody? One of his servers? Idk. I was yelled as numerous times for blocking a walk way(uhhh we're in a bar on a Saturday night) I was not the only one standing in said walk way but seemed to be the only one being reprimanded. Either you want business to be busy or you don't and with the attitude all your team has it seems as though you don't. There's so many bars on Cap Hill I would skip Linda's. read more

Linda's was the scene of my very first Yelp Happy Hour. I do believe that the night consisted of stops at The Capitol Club, Linda's, and Summit Ale House, but I cannot be sure. It was a lot of fun though. I won't ever forget it. With all the sentimental values I place on instances like this, I wish I had lots of great things to say about Linda's... I don't. It's not that it's bad. It's just not that good. In my opinion, the place used to be a whole lot better than it is now. But maybe that's just me. One who is visiting can do any or all of the following things within its (appropriately) grimy environs: - Partake in the latest regular every day HH in the city (until 9) for cheap drinks. - Hang out outside on the "patio" replete with its own bar, weather permitting. - See bizarre groups of the local flavor, like random costume parties. - Consume standard emergency pub grub only if heading to the superior food options of Hot Mama's for drunk pizza or Rancho Bravo for a sober burrito afterward are out. - Not get complaints for showing up with 15+ people in a group unannounced. - Run into old friends (and foes) as enough disparate people hang out here. In short, this is not the place to take a date for some intimate time but rather a place to immerse in the community. I came here for the Yelp Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. Luckily Riss had a sweater for me, so I didn't feel left out. The irony of the sweater made me feel more hipster. I think being a hipster is a requirement, but then again it is the Hill. They have Happy Hour from 7-9 pm. Which is pretty much the coolest thing ever. Sure, I rarely go to Seattle during the week, but if I did, I would definitely stop in here. Cheap beer and cheap food is always ok by me. I just had a Manny's, because the waitress didn't really seem to know the beer selection, and I couldn't be bothered to get up off my ass and walk to the bar to see the 12 taps myself. They have lots of $5 food specials too. I went with the chicken strips and fries, and for $5 it was a good amount of food and pretty good. They also have sliders which were apparently good, and a Happy Meal. The toy sucks, but $5 for a cheeseburger and fries is worth it. They also apparently have good deals on pitchers of beer. The server did an awesome job of getting all of our food and drink orders and keeping all of our bills straight and getting everyone separate checks, which is impressive since people were coming and going over a 3 hour period. Overall, a decent place to meet up with friends and make an ass of yourself and enjoy some cheap drinks and food on the Hill. read more

Visiting from a city in which I can count on one hand how many places will actually serve you a pitcher of beer I was pleased as punch, or, ummmm, beer, to see that not only could we order a pitcher but that the selection included some local brews I had not tried before. All of this in a bar that reminds me of a few places I have stumbled into in Alaska, complete with a worn in lodgy feeling, lots of wood and taxidermy, because who doesn't love a few dead animals with their beer? There was not, however, any taxidermy with wood, just in case you were worried. The only problem was that I had already been drinking when I entered this place and there were just two of us to finish the big pitcher we ordered and the other of the two of us was already turning red and slowing down because he is Asian, and can't drink, and according to him being Asian is some sort of get out of jail free card that entitles him to dump all of the beer drinking responsibilities on me. This place has people like me, with lightweight friends like him, covered because they serve all sorts of bar food, and if you start drinking at 4 like we did they have happy hour sliders that cost a dollar each so you can line your stomach to pick up the slack for your friend, who stereotypes his own people to get out of drinking his beer. read more

Wow, I can't even believe I survived going here since there were so many hipsters. I mean, the second I walked in, the hipster at the door was like "Can I see your ID?" I BARELY had time to grab my wallet that's chained to my skinny jeans so I could get my id out. Hey man, give me a second, okay? It's hard to get my wallet out of the pockets of these skinny jeans! So, I can barely get to the jukebox to ironically play Motley Crue because there are so many hipsters in the way, which is annoying because I had just come from seeing MGMT at Block Party, so I'm kind of over crowds. What else can you say that hasn't already been said? Linda's stays true to what it is: a neighborhood chill out bar. Food. Drinks. Pool. Heated Patio. Great place to take out all your life stresses. While I've been here a lot for late night prowls, I just had brunch and feel obliged to ramble. First of all, we weren't originally planning on eating here, BUT just walking by we saw the line and were intrigued by the menu. So we took a glance and as my tummy rumbled I was already humming The Clash song "should I stay or should I go...?" We found out it was only a 10 min wait and right there I decided to stay. Excellent choice all around....we were seated in like 5 minutes and immediately offered coffee and bloody marys. My favorite welcome to a new day =) Ordering was fast and efficient. The short wait was filled with the ever so delightful viewing of the walls/posters/paintings in the light when you have more attention to detail slash can actually see and notice your surroundings. I do love their concept. The owners know how to make you feel comfortable and yet a little non-traditionally Seattle. It's like your home away from home that happens to have a full bar, kitchen, animal heads on the wall, and of course the jukebox in the corner. I ordered the eggs benny (my go to classic) and was delighted by the view. Delicious eggs on ham on an English muffin surrounded by hashbrowns. Me and my fork just about died and went to hollandaise sauce heaven. My only qualm might have been that the egg was more cooked than I usually liked, but not specifying how I preferred the UBER ooey gooey goodness I had a 5 second fit with myself and then dropped it for the crispy potatoes that were already getting cold. This restaurant serves fair looking food and drinks, but they had made a complete mistake having hired a racist bouncer at the door. I arrived at the restaurant yesterday (11/06/2015) 7pm to join my group who already got a table inside. The bouncer asked me to show my ID. I gave him my Hong Kong ID card, which is equivalent to the driver license here at WA and is a universal proof of my identity in every country in the world. He looked at it and rejected my entrance. He said i must showed him my passport. The way he spoke to me was rude. He was smoking and ignoring me the whole time without even looking at me while talking to me. This experience was humiliating. It was ridiculously enough he did allow my Canadian friend to go in just with their Canadian ID card without asking them to show him their passport. Obviously he was acting differently to different people with different races. I am so disappointed at your restaurant. I am a world traveler and have never had any problem with showing my HK ID in other countries at all - at least for 7 countries in Europe, 5 countries in Asia and Canada. The only time I needed my passport was entering the United Nations for security check. Despite the good food and drinks you may have created to serve your diners, your reputation is ruined with a rude and biased staff you hire to greet all your guests at the gate. read more

Had breakfast here for the very first time... I ordered "The Bull Rider" which is Chicken Fried Steak, Two Eggs, Hash browns, and Toast. It was delivered to our table promptly and after some rearranging on my plate (I'm kinda particular in how I like my breakfast real estate parceled out), I tried digging into my steak using only my fork- a tactic that has always served me well in the past. The C.F.S. was having none of that nonsense, however. I initially thought that it was a particularly tough bit of breakfast. Turns out instead that the "Steak" in the Chicken Fried Steak is *actually* steak! Not ground up cube steak that's been re-formed to roughly resemble a slab of steak... An ACTUAL SLAB OF STEAK THAT'S BEEN CHICKEN FRIED!!! Really, do I need to say any more!? I did not know that such things were possible... (single tear) The eggs, hash browns, and toast were good, too. My only complaint is that the gravy had a bit too much dill, but it was still pretty tasty. The food was tasty and the beer selection was good, but service was disappointing. It wasn't just one person, either - we interacted with three different staff members, and all of them were borderline to outright rude. E.g., my bf asked for a sample of a beer, and the bartender said "Just have it" and gave him a whole pint of the beer. I enjoy myself here -- even though it is stupidly packed with a fairly particular crowd *cough* hipsters *cough* , covered in dead animals, and sort of loud. But you know what? Linda's Tavern was cool before Hipsters were cool. I loved the outdoor patio. I also love that it is pet friendly. The thing that Linda's can work on is the Hipster Bartender's customer service. Two of the Bartenders didn't seem like they enjoyed people very much. When I first got there one was very rude about taking orders. He said "Who's Drinking!?" In a very rude tone.Then later another one took my order and started making the drink then walked away to fill up the lime bin. My drink was a vodka soda and needed a lime. He came back and asked if someone was helping me. I was said you were...then he tried to pawn me on his co-worker and said are you helping her? His co-worker said did you order I said yes this is my drink and I had another food order to place. I felt like I was bothering them and the bar wasn't even busy yet is was 8 pm. There was a girl in the bar area that was wonderful. She was friendly and upbeat and did her job very well. I would like to say that the guys bad attitudes came from being Seattle passive aggressive hipsters. read more

I don't dislike Lindas at all but it's a bar I typically avoid. The drinks are good and the prices are totally reasonable but the bar is SO DAMN CROWDED! Plus, I swear I see the same people in there each time I go. Linda's whole scene kinda make my skin crawl. I get the feeling when I walk in that everyone's looking at me thinking they're so cool. It's like a stare down and then you can't find a seat. Awkward! You end up being shuffled outside because it's the only place there's any room to stand without being bumped into contstantly. I don't really love standing in the smoking area but that's all there is when you don't get there before 8pm to snag a table or a booth. Another no-no is the bathroom situation. Plan WAY ahead because there's only one bathroom per sex and there's always a line. All in all it's not a terrible bar but I feel like it's the hip bar to go to the minute you turn 21. OH!! Linda's is awesome. Sometimes it can get a bit hectic (especially when 30 Yelpers descend upon it for an ugly holiday sweater party) so I can forgive the servers if they seem a little pushy--they actually needed to push by us. Maybe it was the lit-up xmas tree on my sweater, but the bartenders and patrons all seemed really friendly and cool. They have Ninkasi's Total Domination IPA on tap, as well as several other tasty brews (and Hamm's if you prefer cheap swill). Anyway, after the Grilled Cheese Incident I stopped trying to come here for brunch. No point dealing with harried, pissy waittresses and people filming their thrift store shoes on Super 8. I also make it a point to not come on Fridays or weekends, because I don't like having to stand around by the pool table. What I DID start doing is coming decently early, say 6:30 or 7, on weeknights. And ordering hot toddies, Fireball hot toddies, and some sort of hot apple thing from the very nice and very nice looking young man who seems to be serving every time I'm there. I think the problem is that, I still think of "hip" as being at a party where Frank Sinatra and Christopher Walken get into a fist fight over Audrey Hepburn? She gets sick of it, and leaves on a 1947 Triumph, so Sinatra and Walken decide to have a laugh about it all, over a 100 year old bottle of scotch! I guess if you're an artist.... and were going to be famous in the future, it would be cool that you drank here.... to your fans... after you died... but by that time, who the hell cares? Seriously, how have I not reviewed Linda's? Linda's is a Capitol Hill Tradition. I used to go here alot when I first moved to Seattle. I was in my 20s and lived on the Hill. It was the thing to do. Most recently I came to here to eat dinner on a Sunday evening, following an 11 mile hike. My, how things have changed. But Linda's has not. I think I even recognized the bartender from back in the day. The semi-recent patio upgrades are about all that is notably different from 8 years ago. There is a pool table. The women's bathroom is annoyingly tiny. Like the other establishments in this local "chain" (see also Smith and King's), taxidermy abounds. This is where Hipsters still roam free. I was impressed with my burger. I've heard brunch is killer. 4 Stars for the memories. read more
