My son and his girlfriend recently moved to Queen Anne and we were looking for some semi late night eats on a recent Tuesday. I gotta admit, pickings were kinda slim, but Sully's came through! This little Irish bar looks like it's been around for awhile (in a good/fun way). I grew up not far from here, and for all I know Sully's might have been a local hangout when I was a kid. Either way, it was everything a small, local bar should be: friendly service, good beer, full bar, and a truly local vibe. Since it happened to be Tuesday, we decided to partake in Taco Tuesday. Don't let the hastily written chalkboard menu fool you: these are HUGE tacos and you get two of them. Really, they're more like burritos that haven't been rolled up. They also come with a heaping side of Dorito's-like chips, tasty salsa and all the fixin's. When I saw the size of the plate, I immediately regretted that I'd ordered a side of Tater Tots too! My son got a burger, and reported it was delish. His girlfriend enjoyed her taco plate, and a French 75 she reported was "strong and delicious." I ordered a Manny's, and wow do they serve 'em up cold here. Delish! They also have a cute little beer garden out back. I'd love to check it out next time - sitting inside was kinda loud thanks mostly to a lady at the bar who apparently never learned to use her inside voice. :) read more

Sometimes I go to a place despite the reviews, and then I kick myself. Now I'm kicking myself for not going to Sully's sooner. I hadn't been there in years and last time I was there, it felt like I was the only one who didn't need a fake ID to be there, and it was loud, and not my crowd. But I sucked it up and met a friend there for happy hour, and I'm so glad I did. Bartender was friggin fantastic! Nice, fast, on top of everything, and fun to talk to. Drinks were nicely poured, food was *really* friggin good - I had a lamburger that was delish!! Fries were fresh, hot and plentiful. I've heard a rumor that their tacos are really good, so I'll try those next time. The bar was clean (the lounge and the bar itself) and it wasn't as dark and dank as I'd remembered. And the clientele was so much fun! Really friendly crowd, super nice people. Sully's is a local dive bar from the dark atmosphere to the wood booths and bar stools. I visited at the end of the night and sat in a big wood booth. I didn't get service for about ten minutes so I figured I was supposed to order at the bar. I moved to a bar stool and the bar was sticky. I definitely avoided leaning on it so whatever schmutz was on the bar didn't get on my white long sleeve blouse. When I finally was asked what I would like to drink (another 5 minutes later) I ordered a simple double vodka soda. The bartender made it fast and served it right away. I had two drinks and enjoyed the people watching. This place was packed after midnight. All in all, once I sat at the bar I received better service albeit slow, but the drinks were solid. I would go again if I wanted a low key, cleaning clothes, no makeup, dive bar place to have a quick drink. The two stars are for the slow service and sticky bar. They have to do better than that to get 3 stars/meet expectations from me. read more

Housed in the former digs of Sapphire and Q is recently opened restaurant and bar called Sully's. It is a comfortable, classy, cozy and laid back place. I like the fact that it is open late and serves some tasty food (there aren't many places open past 10 p.m. on top of the hill). They do feature three flat panel televisions and I hear that it is a great place to watch games. On my first late night visit I had a spicy grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken breast was coated in a sambal bbq sauce and topped with red pepper aioli, lettuce, onion and tomato. I found the bun was a little too fluffy, though. It was accompanied with an apple salad with currants and almonds. Next time around I plan on trying the lamb sliders! I'll have to check out their happy hour sometime soon. Happy hour is served from 4p.m. - 7 p.m. and 11p.m. - 1a.m. daily. Most of the food specials run about $4-5 each and feature items like: Cajun shrimp, baked mac & cheese, sweet potato fries and hush puppies. Drink specials include mojitos and margaritas at $4 and $5 wells. I suppose if you are super cheap you can have a $2 PBR - you definitely won't be seeing me drinking that swill! Service is pretty awesome and the bartender kept me well hydrated! Sully's Lounge has that great small community feeling to it, despite being located in a very busy market of Seattle. The staff at Sully's is friendly, personable and welcoming. The food prices are very reasonable, the food is fantastic and the menu variety for a lounge is very impressive. Drinks are made strong and for a competitive price. The location has a great vibe and there is free bingo on Wednesday nights. This is one small business that clearly knows how to treat their customers and has owners who simply go above and beyond to run a fantastic establishment. Decent place to hang out, either in the booth or at the bar. Its dark interior & atmosphere doesn't feel intimate, trendy, or cool. It's just a dark sports bar. There are a few TVs throughout the small establishment playing different things. $5 curry fries were greasy but good for sharing and the sauce was unexpectedly creamy. read more

Came in last night to meet up with some friends. I asked the bartender if they had any non alcoholic beer. She scoffed at me and rudely said "um no. This is an Irish bar." The f**k does that have to do with anything? She was slurring her words so idk if she was drunk or what, but a simple, "nope sorry" would have been fine. I later asked for a sprite and she rolled her eyes at me. Because I believe that negative reviews are actually more important to write than positive ones, I promised myself that I would write one for this establishment if I ever signed up for Yelp, which I rely on so often. I was here back in January, and boy did these guys get it wrong. I was with a group of about eight, and we all were there for drinks and some appetizers. The beers were alright, but I remember that a friend of mine kept having a hard time trying to get our waiter's attention. Occasionally, the waiter would come by to check on us, but he would ignore one of my friends, almost intentionally it seemed, such that she actually had to go to the bar to ask for another drink. I left a poor tip as a result, and I'm not sure if they read my credit card receipt incorrectly or they just decided to bump up the tip at their own discretion, but I realized the mistake and called up Marcus to have it corrected a few days later. That was all good and fine. When I arrived to meet Marcus, he was not there, but the guy behind the counter seemed to know my story, and I was a bit unsure what that meant, as to whether it was a good thing or not. Apparently, Marcus had told the guy working that day about my case, and bartender had the audacity to try and humiliate me as I was leaving, making it seem like I was in the wrong coming in to reconcile the bill discrepancy. Here is basically what he said to those at the bar, "You see that guy leaving? He's the guy who came in *just* to claim a $X.XX tip..." He said this in such a derisive manner that rather than turning around to confront him, I simply vowed that I would take it upon myself to ensure that none of my friends ever visited this establishment again. At no point did I ever feel like the bartender was apologizing for the mistake, which was clearly their own. Great job, guys. That's exactly the approach that a businesses should take in order to win customers. If you make a mistake, the least you can do is own up to it. read more

Marcus, Pat, and the two ladies who are verrrrry closely associated with Marcus and Pat (if you get my drift *wink*) keep the place always feeling cozy and neighborhood-y. Well, one of them is kind of scary, but I'm not gonna say who. Taco Tuesday ROCKS. 2 tacos for $5. Lamb sliders are drippy deliciousness with a cumin kick. Every neighborhood has, or should have, a bar such as Sully's. Why? Mostly because it's a basic bar: a few booths, the bar and good sightlines to the TV. The menu looked interesting (especially the mini-hotdogs) although when I was here it was mostly for conversation and a few beers. Sully's is probably perfect for that. Didn't find it too loud and the bartender was efficient about bringing out new rounds as needed. They apparently have an all-sports TV policy which would explain the hefty guy-girl ratio when I was there. Single ladies take note. read more

Marcus and Crew have done a PHENOMENAL job with such a small space. This little Queen Anne jem has what you need. It sort of has the secluded upscale Irish pub feel. In regards to the food, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Lamb Sliders and the HH Mac and Cheese with Andoullie Sausage. Both were just AMAZING. It was 4 of the Lamb Sliders that were cumin rubbed and had a little curry mayo on each one, in the center of the plate was a lil fennel cole slaw which the girl devoured in NO time. The Mac and Cheese in the Happy Hour portion was killer and a filler to say the least. A Huge bowl for 4 bucks...FTW??? I am sad they took the Bacon wrapped Meatloaf off the menu. I hope to see that make a return sometime. If your in the neighborhood or even if your not in the QA neighborhood, its worth a small trip to check this place. read more

Rolled in here looking for late night food a little after midnight. There was very comfty bar chairs pointed towards giant TVs. Our group ordered the mini corn dogs, sweet potato fries, $2 Rainer tallboys, and a draft beer. All was good- especially the fries. The people next to us ordered the lamb sliders and macaroni & cheese- they looked REALLY good. Sigh. Very big let down going off the very positive reviews that drew us here after another HH fell through. Very empty on a Sunday afternoon, but that did not prevent the bartender from ignoring us the majority of the time. Clearly a few other tables with locals in the crowd at that time that seemed to draw most of his attention. Food was very subpar. Would expect much, much more for the prices. I don't think they are much of a deal, stimulus or not. Lamb sliders: not half bad, but little on the dry side and unimaginative Mac n' cheese: lacking on the cheese (minus the top layer that had a few slices melted onto it) and flavor. Not something you couldn't do better with at home Mini tacos: are you kidding me? If someone can prove to me that these are NOT Trader Joe's mini-tacos with a 1/4 lb of cheese melted on them, please, please do. Definitely not returning for food and can't see why this place would be a go-to spot for drinks with all the excellent bars in much more convenient locations around this city. read more

Quite the sausage fest they've got going on during their happy hour. I was the only female in there and you'd think I'd feel quite uncomfortable and out of place but I felt the opposite: relaxed, welcomed, and well taken care of. Our server was GREAT; very attentive, brought our beers to the table very quick-like, and always had a smile on his face. Plus I think he was slightly relieved to see a woman patron. Not that I'm eye candy or anything, but I think he was glad to see some diversity in there. Honestly, I wish I could've traded in my date. The place emptied out fairly quickly & she walked up & said "just so you know, you have ten minutes" It wouldn't have bothered me if she was slightly more personable or had bothered to tell us when we walked in that she was planning on closing early. Bingo Wednesday night! Woot woot! I don't remember when was the last time I even played Bingo. It is a game not only for senior folks especially during the speedy Bingo round. I felt like I aged a good 5 years after that round from the stress of trying to get all the numbers. All in all it was pretty neat little place for drinks, a meal, and Bingo fun. My new favorite spot! Sully's. Where do i start? For such a small space, i've never felt crowded. Just comfortable. And i was there last night on St. Patty's Day! The fact that the bartenders own the place gives it an "I'm over at my buddy's house hanging out and drinking beer" type feel, but it's still a bit more upscale (than your typical bachelor pad, i'm saying). We pass by this little bar in the neighborhood all the time and after years, we finally made it inside on a Monday night. Atmosphere: it is very dark, even though there is a light at each booth. Finding my way to the bathroom was also very dark. Food: all day happy hour food! We devoured the appetizers before I even got to take a pic, but for $8, the 12 chicken wings were well seasoned, meaty, and came with a good handful of veggies. We also got a huge basket of crispy fries for only $5. The quality of the good was surprisingly good for the price. There was also poutine on the menu but we didn't get it. However, we were told that they make theirs with feta cheese.. a big no-no for this Canadian. It's cute that the menu had an option to buy the kitchen a beer! I was here for St. Patrick's Day and while I had a great day all around I have to say I am not that impressed by Sully's. It's a small place, good food and good drinks. The staff was friendly enough. They seem to know their regulars well which I thought was pretty nice. Here is my biggest issue. I arrived after my friends, who were already drinking at the bar which was not crowded at all. I ordered a beer and they asked me if I wanted to start a tab. Pretty standard bar stuff. Here is where things got weird. We had been there for a long time and I figured it was probably time to settle up and see the damage that was done. I had the waitress bring me my check. the damage you ask? $250 and NO ITEMIZED RECEIPT! They had been charging me for my friends drinks even though they arrived at the bar before I did and even though I did not give ANY consent to do so. I asked the bartenders for an itemized reciept and we got it all sorted out. They told me upfront that because my friends were so hammered they didnt think they would pay so they put it on my card. This is not ok at all. It is their responsibility to make sure they know how drinks are getting paid for. And it should not have been that hard to get cards or cash from my friends especially when it was early in the day and there was hardly anyone else there yet. Of course checking my bank account a few days later the $250 has been charged to my account and not put back. However they gave me a reciept of the voided transaction so hopefully my bank and Sully's will get their act together and give me my money back. Also have to say that I understand St. Patty's is a super busy day. They had the same staff working all day and by late evening you could tell they were tired and pretty much over being there. The friendliness had dissapated by 9 pm. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because of the holiday but they should probably work out a shift strategy for next time. read more

I kinda feel bad for this place. It seems like it's changing it's name ever 6 months to a year. I'm not sure if it's same ownership or not, but it always seems to be struggling. You would think that the location would be good - next to Blockbuster and Seven Eleven on Queen Anne Ave, but it's never packed when I go in there. Actually tonight when I met some friends for a drink, it was actually the fullest I had seen it. It's actually a pretty nice place. There's a decent wine list.
