1st time here and it was easy to order. We enjoy the food and wanted to keep ordering every time they pass by because it's just fun.

Very authentic and popular among local. I used to go there a lot when I used to live on Oahu. The food was decent but not the best dim sum I ever had. The prices were reasonable.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Pretty standard for dimsum The extended review... Food: 3/5 - We got multiple things and all things tasted pretty standard. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - Standard ambiance for a true Chinese place. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pretty standard pricing.

    Dim Sum - yum!

Good dim sum. If you can, go early, before 11:00 AM to miss the lunch crowd! Mochi rice, har gau, spare ribs, book tripe, fried shrimp/ nori roll, chicken feet, custard bun ... just about everything is yum and brought to you on those rolling carts! Sometimes the servers may come around with certain dishes 'fresh off the steamer' that may not be on those carts (or maybe they are but didn't fit? idk...) Usually got ample parking in the Chinese Cultural Center structure right off Mauna Kea Street, but during the lunchtime rush, you might end up parking on the higher levels. Parking payment is pretty quick, scan the ticket barcode and swipe your credit card at the kiosk on the first or 2nd floor, and it's all done in 30 - 45 seconds! All in all, this place continue to remain on my dim sum short list in Chinatown!

Legend was never our first choice for dim sum but sometimes we just stop by when we are in the area. Food was usually acceptable but when we went again today for CNY meal and it was really disappointing. Ordered about 8 or 9 dim sum. - Har gow and the shrimp look funs are usually pretty safe but the shrimps were not fresh. - taro cake was not cooked thoroughly it was still a bit raw. Turnip cake was very salty. - chicken feet did not have enough seasonings so the chicken taste was very strong. -fried puff had a strand of hair in it. Although the food was disappointing, service was always good the aunties were always nice to us. It was also cheaper compared to other dim sum restaurants.

I haven't been here in years, since it got sold to new owners. We recently hosted two tables of the 10 course dinners. We actually did this for lunch. We also switched out some of the dishes for an uncharge. We went with the Joyful Dinner $318 per table. It came with Chinese Chicken Salad with Jelly Fish, Seafood Tofu Soup, House Roast Duck, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Deep Fried Pork Chop with Pepper Salt, Stir Fried Fish Fillet with Veggies, Stir Fried Seasonal Veggies with Garlic, Young Chow Fried Rice, and Almond Tofu for dessert. We switched out two of the items. Instead of the Pepper Salt Pork Chops, we got the Capital Pork Chops. We also subbed out the Young Chow fried rice for the Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice. It was $325 instead of $318. We had made reservations and pre-ordered the week before. On the day of the lunch, the tables were ready when we got there. The seating was a little tight though. Since we had pre-ordered, the food came out really fast. We could barely keep up. We were beginning on one dish and another would be coming out of the kitchen. Majority of the dishes were excellent. Everyone agreed that the duck was the best dish of the day. The skin was crisp and had the right seasoning. The walnut shrimp was also very good. We had a great time. I would definitely come back. I want to try their dim sum menu the next time I'm here.

came at the tail end of closing. Should go early if you want more cart options Still was able to get majority of the classics -turnip cake - quite decent and pan friend enough to be crunchy on the outside -recommend* bbq pork bun - was not as expected -more air and not much char-siu inside sticky rice - 2 pieces - was also good and delicious * between 2 people - costing about $20 per person older interior for sure Haven't tasted the other options here to compare quality Ok to come check out

Legends is an old Honolulu dim sum standby. It's generally consistently good and you can get a table in a reasonable amount of time. Service is mostly good but it can be a little chaotic with the food carts. I still enjoy the food carts, even if you have to wait for what you want to come by. Favorites are shrimp with chive pan fried dumplings, char siu bao, lo mai gai, lo bak goh, and minute chicken fried noodles. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order. Glad it's still open after all this time and hope it continues to stay open!

Finally get to try it because it's always crowded around lunch time during weekends! We went on a Sunday around 9:30am and there's no wait, but around 10:30 to 11, the place got more and more packed, so that gives you an idea what time to arrive to avoid crowds! Their steamed items like chicken feet, spinach dumplings and shumai were quite good. I also liked their pan fried chive and shrimp cakes. However their deep fried stuff were not as fresh as I hoped, probably coz they were in cart for a little bit, not freshly cooked from the kitchen - that's why I normally prefer ordering dim sum with the paper than with the carts nowadays for the freshness of food. Service was friendly. The ladies really tried to get the items that we wanted, even if they had to order directly from the kitchen - that's great! Overall I'd say it's a solid 4 stars. It's decent and I wouldn't mind coming back. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot!

Decent old school chinese food on the edge of Chinatown. Lunch crowd is almost exclusively locals who look like they've been coming here for years. The restaurant is large with little ambience but the food is good. I would recommend skipping the dim sum, which was okay, but the traditional dishes are far better. Since we had been eating around Chinatown all morning prior to arriving, we only had room for one more dish after trying a few of the dim sum options - the mixed seafood chow mein. The portion size was enormous. The seafood was fresh and varied. The thin noodles were perfect and there was ample gravy. I see why the locals keep coming back. Service is efficient and minimally friendly, which was just fine. I would definitely return and especially get takeout.

We made it back to Honolulu, and on our must do list was a return trip to Legends Restaurant. Like every time we visit, every table was taken, and there was a line out the door. However, the place is big, the service efficient, and the line moves quickly. Like many, we pre-judge a restaurant by the crowd. This place is a local favorite. It's busy, it's noisy, it's frenetic - all in a good way. We are drawn to hole in the wall restaurants and this unassuming, tucked away in the corner of the Chinatown Cultural Plaza, fits the bill. Its decor is exactly what you would expect and hope for. Now that you have a feel for the ambiance, let get down to the food which is excellent. The dim sum menu at Legends is extensive, boasting a wide array of tried and true creations. From the classic har gow, steamed pork buns, and shrimp dumplings, to some more adventurous options, there's something for every appetite. As trolley after trolley comes by you have to be careful not to over order. There's also a formidable ala carte menu. A particular favorite of ours is the ginger rice. That by itself brought us back. Honolulu, and Oahu overall, has plenty of food options. There's definitely fancier choices, but Legends will not disappoint.

Dim sum in the middle of studying for the CPA exam was my lifeline. Went with my bf on a busy Saturday afternoon. Because we havent been out to dim sum in a while, we ordered the whole kitchen. A+ Hard hitters include: * Xiao long bao - flavorful soup in super cute cups! * pork hash - juicy, meaty, and fresh when we got it. Just had to get two orders * egg tarts - flaky, buttery crust, with a custard that isnt too sweet * Taro puff - filling. Heavily enjoy the crispy exterior * Char siu bao - typically i avoid this because the bun is just too damn much, but this time around, the bun was steamy and soft! We got it when at peak freshness Pretty good includes: * Hargow - standard, it was solid * Turnip cake - not our thing, tried something new, hella filling. Wouldn't get it again but it was good * Shrimp rice noodle - similar to hargow, solid. Not a fan: * Jook - i prefer my jook with more solid rice bits, it was a bit too smooth and bland for me Price was EXCELLENT! We were stuffed and walking out the door with a lunch plate full of leftovers. We paid $61 excluding tip. A lot cheaper than other places, especially one the rhymes with dade jynasty. 'Nuff said. Service is good, but hectic. They get what you ask for right away, but its hard to flag someone down because everyone is running around pushing a cart of food. Also, we had to wait a bit for stuff that we wanted (i.e. pork hash) Parking is located in the chinese cultural plaza. Reasonable price to pay, and i like that the restaurant is in the plaza. Easily one of my favorite places to get dim sum. quality food, decent service, easy + reasonable parking, and WORTH THE PRICE! Food: 4/5 Price: 4.5/5 Service: 3/5 Parking: 4/5 Overall: 3.75/5

Seafood Legend Restaurant offers some of the best dim sum I've ever had. The service is consistently excellent--friendly, efficient, and attentive. On this visit, I wasn't sure what to order, but fortunately, my mom and family knew exactly what to choose, and everything was absolutely delicious. This restaurant has become a family favorite, and it's a must-visit every time I'm on Oahu. It never disappoints and continues to exceed expectations with both food and service.

We ordered pork hash, manapua, har gow, spring rolls, pickled cucumbers ($12.95) and a platter of char siu & duck. The dim sum was about $8/each, which I thought was very reasonable. My buddy really likes siao mai, and he said KSR has the best ones out of the places I have brought him to in HNL. On the other hand, the manapua was just okay: The ratio of meat to bao was low. I took char siu fr the platter and added it to the bao. We might have been better off skipping the baos and ordering a rice or noodle plate. The har gow and spring rolls were pretty good. The rolls arrived piping hot, and the har gow had a nice texture in the wrapper. Fourthly, the cucumber was fresh & crunchy, and had lots of garlic. I ate some with the char siu to cut thru the fat. Lastly, the char siu & duck platter was very good. They do a good job of putting some char on the bbq pork. The duck was tasty, but there were a couple of bony pieces. Regarding the ambiance, its big in here. Although they don't use carts, the aisles are wide. The servers were friendly & warm. I would def return for dim sum, but I also want to come for dinner. The food is very good, and the prices are reasonable.

Cake Noodle Fact: Cake noodles aren't "cake" in the dessert sense (tragic, I know). "Cake" refers…read moreto the noodle being pressed into a round, compact disk before it's pan-fried, which is exactly how you get that crispy-meets-soft texture moment. And yes, now I will absolutely be thinking about them often. If you think you know cake noodles because you've had Cantonese noodles before, Lee Ho Fook in Honolulu's Chinatown is here to humble you. I was definitely humbled. Tucked along the canal in Chinatown, Lee Ho Fook Restaurant is one of those cozy little neighborhood spots where the tables are close, the room is snug, and the noodles do all the talking. My Honolulu homies, twinsie "Auntie" Nadine C. and Cycle Buddy Randy S., brought me here for noodles and I'm eternally grateful they did. We ordered the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, tossed noodles with choi sum and won ton, plus a side of ong choy. Every plate understood the assignment. As an Arizona girl, I had never had minute chicken or cake noodles before and fully assumed they'd be in the same lane as Cantonese noodles. Yelpers, I was wrong. Delightfully wrong. Cake noodles are a Cantonese classic but the magic is all in the texture: pan-fried until golden and crisp on the outside, while the center stays soft enough to soak up all that glossy savory sauce. It's the best of both noodle worlds - crispy and chewy. A true textural delight. The Minute Chicken Cake Noodles were the star for me. That contrast between the crispy edges and soft middle was wildly satisfying, and the chicken was silky, savory, and exactly the kind of comfort food that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. The tossed noodles with choi sum and won ton were equally comforting in a more classic, no-fuss way, and the ong choy was the perfect green side dish that was garlicky, fresh, and necessary. Lee Ho Fook is small, comforting, and exactly the kind of place you want when what you really need is a bowl of something delicious and humble. Come hungry, bring a few friends, and order the cake noodles.

Better late than never, but come too late and missed out on the good stuff?…read more Honolulu Seafood Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. Located in Downtown in the same space where Yong Sing, Mandalay, and the short-lived Bourbon Street used to be. Inside feels and looks essentially the same as the prior restaurants. Huge, open, two levels. Would you believe there was once a time where the second floor was an option to sit because it was just that busy? Hours is basically 10am everyday till 3pm, then 5-930pm. Seems like the hours are geared towards Downtown workers. Where to park? 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, park in the Ali'i Place Parking garage. Entrance is right past the restaurant. Only 75 cents per half hour and restaurant validates one dollar. After 5pm on weekdays, and 8-1am on weekends, park at Bishop Square Parking. Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. With a very large dining area, this establishment was able to fit 12 of us at one huge round table, comfortably. Table, seating, dishes, and surrounding area was clean and organized. Our family ordered a combination of dim sum and entrees for lunch. They have an incredible variety of delicious options and we most certainly filled our table with all kinds of good eats! In total, we had 13 different items, which was served timely and everything was very tasty! Of all that we ordered, my personal favorite was the crispy soy wrapped shrimp patty. The outer crust is a thin soybean layer which had an excellent crunch. Inside, is a generous portion of shrimp patty that is perfect in flavor and texture. I will gladly return because both my lunch and dinner experiences were spot on. We all left fully satisfied!

If we didn't have Bud's baseball game after I would have liked to order a beef chow fun dry and a vegetable dish. Leftovers won't keep in the afternoon heat. My fave dim sum place in Chinatown!…read more I think I rate this place slightly ahead of Mei Sum. A busy, bustling place, have to get your number to get into the queue to get in. But usually within 10 - 15 mins, you can get in (around 1130 in the moorning). I really like the curried beef tendons, spare ribs, and chicken feet. Yum! Just about everything we've ordered is good. I addition to dim sum, they have a pretty varied menu. Noodles, duck, chicken... you name it, they got it! Parking is pretty easy in the chinese cultural plaza structure. Get a ticket, then pay at the kiosk.

Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant replaced Golden Palace Restaurant in Chinatown on March 2023…read more The restaurant is known for large portions of authentic and popular dim sum and seafood dishes. Owner Kun Hang Liang and wife Karen Tam immigrated to HI many years ago and have always dreamt of owning their own restaurant, which is now this restaurant. The restaurant's offerings are extensive. They include: * Dim sum: custard tart, mochi ball/puff, fried taro, dumplings, siu mai, chicken feet, spare ribs, pork buns, turnip cake, seafood bean curd, mochi rice, look fun, soups. * Chef's specials: lotus root stuffed w/ shrmp, bbq roasted pork rib, slow-simmered soup, braised oxtail, calamari, whole chickens/ducks. * Appetizer: jellyfish, spring roll, gau gee, fried shrimp ball. * BBQ roast: duck, char siu, chicken. * Soup: seafood, hot sour, chicken, beef, egg drop, won ton, pumpkin. * Sichuan: shrimp, beef, fish, chicken, pork, ma po tofu. * Seafood: lobster, crab, fish, shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops. * Salt & pepper: calamari, shrimp, pork chop, tofu, chicken wings. * Meat: beef, pork, chicken. * Sizzling casserole: lamb/beef stew, seafood w/ tofu, prawns & vermicelli, kau yuk. * Sizzling platter: beef tenderloin, oysters, stuffed eggplant. * Tofu/egg: steam egg custard/tofu, egg w/ bittermelon, egg fu yung. * Veggies: mushrooms w/ veggies, broccoli w/ dried flounder, green beans, ong choy, choy sum, spinach, lotus root. * Starch: fried rice, chow mein, noodles in soup, chow fun, rice noodles. With the extensive menu offerings, there are some items that outshine others, which are to be expected. We ordered the following: * Siu mai. Enjoyed the large siu mai, which the dense pork was mixed with mushrooms and water chestnuts (no shrimp). It was tasty and flavorful. * Jin dui. Loved the large thin-crusted coconut/peanut jin dui, just how my mom used to make them! Most restaurants don't "roll" them enough to get that thin crust, but here, they make it right! * Sticky rice in lotus leaf. Chunks of lup cheong and whole salted egg yolks with mochi rice make this a winner! * Char siu look fun. This is one of my favorite dishes; however, it was not prepared well. Generous chunks of hardened and seemingly old char siu filled the look fun, making it difficult to eat and with a lack of tender flavored char siu. Loved that the sweet sauce is served separately in a squeeze bottle so that you can use as much as you want. * Dong Po Pork. This Hangzhou dish is pork belly braised in soy sauce, Shaoxiang wine, and rock sugar until it's tender and melts in your mouth. The pork bell is tied with a string to hold its shape, and staff will use a scissors to remove it. This dish is savory, sweet and has a rich caramelization; served with broccoli to balance the richness of the sauce. Eaten with rice, I really enjoyed this dish! Well plated and executed! Portions are generous, but price point may be contentious, as some dishes appear to be over-priced, like the char siu look fun. We arrived mid-morning on a weekday, and it was not very crowded. Staff was very friendly, attentive, and bilingual, which made communication easy. Service was quick and efficient. No moving carts, as you're given a sheet of listed dim sum to check off the ones you want to order. The large interior is spacious and clean. Its banquet hall can hold a max of 30+ tables for a private party. There are also smaller private rooms. Extensive renovations were made after the previous restaurant closed. Hours of operation are Thurs to Tues 8a to 9p and Wed 8a to 3p. Regular entrees are not prepared until 10a when the cooks arrive for work. Private parking available in back of the restaurant, municipal parking lots are nearby, and metered street parking are available. Extensive delicious menu offerings, generous portions, and efficient and friendly customer service will likely result in return visits to try other items on the menu. We wish the Liangs continued success with their restaurant! Support local!

We happened to get a good parking spot so heck, why not go check it out. I read a Yelper's review later that it has parking in the back. Ok, now we know! It's located on King St. near the red dragon pillars. Dining area is pretty big- lots of tables. There are no roving dimsum carts- you order on a sheet the item you want and quantity. What surprised me right off were the prices. I know things are rough for businesses and price hikes are necessary for the bottom line but $5.95/ $7.35 for dim sum? If you want steamed look fun, it'll cost you $10-11. Yikes! Our usual dim sum place is about $1-3 less. But to be fair, the size of the dimsum is huge. The chicken feet we had was sooo plump and the other dim sum looked like overstuffed balls. So okay, maybe the price is fair? Each plate came with 3. The food was tasty too except the chao zhou dumplings with peanut was salty for our taste. Service was okay-the place was hopping so the servers are too busy to check on your tea, order more food, etc. Go up and pay your bill.

The tables and benches are very basic and not cushioned, which makes for quick customer turnover. We hardly waited 2 minutes before they called us; even though there was a queue the entire time we were there it seems they go really quickly. Focus is on noodles (recommended) or rice dishes. We had beef chow fun (thick noodles) and a rice-noodle soup with pork and picked cabbage. Both dishes were very good. The chow fun was smoky, as if cooked on high heat, and the rice noodles were nicely spiced. The rice noodles came in a delicious broth. Parking is tough in Chinatown but there are several pay lots around. Be careful because the private pay lots can get expensive. There's also two municipal pay lots, each about 2 blocks away.
