    I am so glad places still make vegetarian stuff, but my advice to anyone looking to eat a Veggie Manapua from here - DON'T. It was mostly breading and I don't even know what the veggies were inside, it was kind of scary to open it up to see dried peas and flakes of carrots and smudges of something I can't make out?? I know what you're thinking - it looks like p***!!! Don't Say IT!!!! I took a few bites but it tasted so bad I couldn't eat it. Threw away both of them. The char siu bao and pork hash I purchased for my family were OK, they said. Prices - forgot, think the prices were about on the average side. Nothing really sticks out about this place. Other than that, stay away from the vegetarian stuff here.

    I remember not caring to come here as the pre-heated food didn't look appetizing sitting in the warmer containers. I don't know if it changed owners or maybe they redid their layout and got rid of the premade food like when you go to Panda's and everything is made to order which is a good and bad thing. Good in that everything is made fresh but bad if there is a long line in front of you as you have to wait. They have both a variety of steamed and baked manapuas. They seem to have more filling than when I used to come previously which is a good thing. We like getting their pork belly bao, look funn and now my favorite and is the reason I started coming back here is their ginger onion fried chicken. Yeah you know the ginger onion sauce that usually comes with the cold chicken? Yeah that one but on top of the fried chicken. You can also ask for them to put the sauce on the side but I like it all over the top of the chicken. They also have the rubber rice aka rice cake (white and the one with the brown top), pork hash, jian dui, as well as a bunch of lunch plates. So if you find yourself in Manoa, stop by the Manoa Market Place and get your dim sum or try their ginger onion fried chicken, your tastebuds will thank you.

    I have not been here in ages. The food is exactly how I remembered it, average. They no longer do it Panda Express style for plate lunches, where they just scoop the entree that you want. It's all made to order or reheated in the kitchen. I got the roast duck and ginger onion chicken with rice $16.95. I also got two pork hash $1.85 each and a red bean jin dui $2.50. First of all, the ginger onion chicken wasn't ginger onion chicken. It was shoyu chicken with the ginger onion sauce top. Did they not know that I could tell the difference? I must really not look Chinese. While it wasn't bad, it was just a weird combo. The ginger onion sauce was tasty, but it's hard to mess that up. The pork hash was alright. Pass on the jin dui. It was one of the worst that I've had on the island. It was burnt, thick, chewy and hard. It was not crispy at all.

    The choices... Manapua is like the musubi in the asian world and though I'm not a huge bread person this is where you just can't go wrong. Located in Manoa Marketplace this little gem is one of several local biz that just knows how to make us happy with all our favorite items that we've grown up and enjoyed. The name says Manapua but it certainly doesn't end there as when I saw the special menu outside that just cracks the surface of the that they prepare as there's a whole giant selection on the menu inside and the vibe of this tiny place is so nice. Sadly I came a couple hours before closing though it was still dinner time many of the items are sold and cleaned out as the same for their manapuas...baked or steamed, I'm for team steam and it was the classic pork and think that's all they had so I got two but as all the warmers was turned off so was the manapua as it was cold :( They have all sorts of dim sum as well and I'd like to return and grab a plate lunch with the selections they have it had my mouth watering and would've walked away with enough to start a party though love this classic locally loved place that supports us in so many ways.     First time visiting this place, and I regretted it the moment I walked in. The place was dirty and run-down -- more fitting for Kalihi than Manoa. I'm very particular about cleanliness, and this spot definitely missed the mark. On a positive note, the counter person was friendly and took the time to explain what was available. I picked up a few items to try: the pork belly bao was just okay -- the skin was chewy instead of crispy; the pork hash was hot and fresh; and the manapua was soft, though the filling lacked flavor and seasoning. I tried the char sui, Kailua pork and duck. I'll stick to Chinatown.

    I have been patronizing this location for years as there aren't many dim sum places in town that are take out with free, private lot. Located in Manoa Marketplace. The chowfunn has been good most of the time. What I go there for more than anything else. The flavor, the noodles, the portion size, keep me coming back. In 2024, the business was sold. Since then, I have been here only a couple of times. No real changes except for the half moon which was almost 100% woodear mushrooms. Today I was pleasantly surprised to learn IM has merged with Honolulu Kitchen, home of the deep fried manapua! I've only had their manapua when someone brings it to the office. Through the month of June, they will be promoting the fried manapua. Go get your samples!

    I didn't really need a snack...but I also had to use the restroom and needed the bathroom code...LOL! My go to are baked manapua and pork hash. I do compare them to my favorite Sing Cheong, and these did not disappoint. Although they are smaller, they did hit the spot! The man working behind the counter was kind and friendly! I do wish he had some help though since we were standing in a small line. Mahalo Island Manapua!

    A great little "hole-in-the-wall" take out spot that has an amazing variety of standard, and specialty Chinese food plate lunches and manapua. Some things are pre-made and available from the counter, but most things are made to order, so be prepared to wait. Usually, there's a line of people at the counter, both waiting to order and pick up orders. They also take phone orders and do catering pans. If you're in a hurry, or have a large order, I'd definitely suggest you call in ahead of time. There were actually a couple of people that walked out before ordering because the wait was too long for them. The House specialty plates are great; we ordered a couple of the boneless Peking duck with cake noodles and a variety of manapua. The lunch prices are very reasonable, although the manapua prices are slightly higher than average. Overall though, it's a great spot that I hadn't been to in years, and will be back again.

    This place used to be Island Manapua, and it was owned by a different company. Now, they are technically "Aloha Manapua", and they have different recipes and offerings, though the menu may look very similar to the past. I have eaten there several times since the end of 2025, and I have loved it every time. The manapua are delicious! The bread is perfect, and the meat is also tender and flavorful. A lot of places (like chun wa kam) have too much fat in the meat, but this place is perfect. Their pork hash is amazing, too. Did you know they have a UH student special? I'm not in college anymore, but it's a great deal for students. If you show a student ID, you can get a manapua + 2 pieces of either half moon/shrimp dumpling/pork hash for only $5! Aside from that, they have a full menu of Chinese food. Everything from roast duck to won ton mein, to garlic shrimp. They can even do large pans for catering. Recently, I visited, and it was pretty busy. The owners are there every day, and the pace can be quick. IMO, this is the best Chinese food around for miles.

    Not sure if this location in Manoa is same owner as the Kalihi location. But, prices seem to be on the high side. Location in Manoa Marketplace, between CVS and Safeway, near Brugs. Purchased 3 Jin Dui, with Char siu filling. $2.50/each. Not much filling. Two had filling. One the filling was missing, no filling. Also, 2 rice cake. $2.95/each. Wasn't really a big piece. This is the highest I have ever paid. I contacted the business about the problem with the Jin Dui. I went back to get my money back. Free parking in shared parking lot. Parking lot is busy, sometimes hard to get a stall during peak time.

    Hadn't been here in a while but stopped in after my hair cut. The owner of Honolulu kitchen has bought this spot so he was there. They have the fried manapua that Honolulu Kitchen is known for but today I opted for Baked manapuas. The owner was amazing and super friendly he even threw in the rice cake as a "sample" the manapuas were decently stuffed and the buns/ bao were deliciously fluffy and sweet. The sweetness went well with the traditional Char Siu and also the honey garlic chicken although I did like the curry as well it wasnt nearly as tasty as the other two. The gaugee was awesome but id also like to preface and say I asked him for the extra crispy ones because I like mines burnt basically. The rice cake was tasty im interested to go back and taste the other sweets he has. He also gave me a sample of the pork hash which was delicious and the shumai which was tasty but to me those always taste the same every where I go. Overall the shop is small and what you see is what you get they also have plate lunches but what it comes down to for me is the service which was awesome and the taste which tbh im definitely going back for Honey Garlic chicken manapuas.

    It's been years since I last visited this establishment. I lived in the area and would frequently purchase manapua to bring as omiyage on my interisland travels. The line was quite long and several people took longer than usual to place an order. I was on a time crunch so I wasn't able to purchase anything this time around. I'll be back! The rolls arrived piping hot, and the har gow had a nice texture in the wrapper. Fourthly, the cucumber was fresh & crunchy, and had lots of garlic. I ate some with the char siu to cut thru the fat. Lastly, the char siu & duck platter was very good. They do a good job of putting some char on the bbq pork. The duck was tasty, but there were a couple of bony pieces. Regarding the ambiance, its big in here. Although they don't use carts, the aisles are wide. The servers were friendly & warm. I would def return for dim sum, but I also want to come for dinner. The food is very good, and the prices are reasonable.

I tried the butter mochi this past visit and it was good. It always amazes me the ladies who take your order and don't write it down and somehow get it right. I can see one or two things but my wife likes to order 5-6 things. I've been lucky to go when no one was in line (a rainy day) and have waited in line for over 30 minutes. Tucked along the canal in Chinatown, Lee Ho Fook Restaurant is one of those cozy little neighborhood spots where the tables are close, the room is snug, and the noodles do all the talking. My Honolulu homies, twinsie "Auntie" Nadine C. and Cycle Buddy Randy S., brought me here for noodles and I'm eternally grateful they did. We ordered the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, tossed noodles with choi sum and won ton, plus a side of ong choy. Every plate understood the assignment. As an Arizona girl, I had never had minute chicken or cake noodles before and fully assumed they'd be in the same lane as Cantonese noodles. Yelpers, I was wrong. Delightfully wrong. Cake noodles are a Cantonese classic but the magic is all in the texture: pan-fried until golden and crisp on the outside, while the center stays soft enough to soak up all that glossy savory sauce. It's the best of both noodle worlds - crispy and chewy. A true textural delight. The Minute Chicken Cake Noodles were the star for me.     Better late than never, but come too late and missed out on the good stuff?…read more Honolulu Seafood Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. Located in Downtown in the same space where Yong Sing, Mandalay, and the short-lived Bourbon Street used to be. Inside feels and looks essentially the same as the prior restaurants. Huge, open, two levels. Would you believe there was once a time where the second floor was an option to sit because it was just that busy? Hours is basically 10am everyday till 3pm, then 5-930pm. Seems like the hours are geared towards Downtown workers. Where to park? 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, park in the Ali'i Place Parking garage. Entrance is right past the restaurant. Only 75 cents per half hour and restaurant validates one dollar. After 5pm on weekdays, and 8-1am on weekends, park at Bishop Square Parking. Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Chicken Feet was good. Soft, tasty, and meaty. But just ate and felt one note. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings was pretty good. Pan fried very well. Generous amount of filling. Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Inside was cool, spacious, and comfortable. I want to come back on my lunch break! I don't mind dim sum'ing solo! Hopefully there'll be more dim sum choices. I remember seeing on social media they had some unique items only at this location. But I guess I'm too late! **I heard some news, maybe rumors, but the Kapiolani Seafood location might be forced to move due to that and the next lot being torn down for..... you guessed it, more condos! In total, we had 13 different items, which was served timely and everything was very tasty! Of all that we ordered, my personal favorite was the crispy soy wrapped shrimp patty. The outer crust is a thin soybean layer which had an excellent crunch. Inside, is a generous portion of shrimp patty that is perfect in flavor and texture. I will gladly return because both my lunch and dinner experiences were spot on. We all left fully satisfied!

But usually within 10 - 15 mins, you can get in (around 1130 in the moorning). I really like the curried beef tendons, spare ribs, and chicken feet. Yum! Just about everything we've ordered is good. I addition to dim sum, they have a pretty varied menu. Noodles, duck, chicken... you name it, they got it! Parking is pretty easy in the chinese cultural plaza structure. Get a ticket, then pay at the kiosk.

Owner Kun Hang Liang and wife Karen Tam immigrated to HI many years ago and have always dreamt of owning their own restaurant, which is now this restaurant. The restaurant's offerings are extensive. They include: * Dim sum: custard tart, mochi ball/puff, fried taro, dumplings, siu mai, chicken feet, spare ribs, pork buns, turnip cake, seafood bean curd, mochi rice, look fun, soups. * Chef's specials: lotus root stuffed w/ shrmp, bbq roasted pork rib, slow-simmered soup, braised oxtail, calamari, whole chickens/ducks. * Appetizer: jellyfish, spring roll, gau gee, fried shrimp ball. * BBQ roast: duck, char siu, chicken. * Soup: seafood, hot sour, chicken, beef, egg drop, won ton, pumpkin. * Sichuan: shrimp, beef, fish, chicken, pork, ma po tofu. * Seafood: lobster, crab, fish, shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops. * Salt & pepper: calamari, shrimp, pork chop, tofu, chicken wings. * Meat: beef, pork, chicken. * Sizzling casserole: lamb/beef stew, seafood w/ tofu, prawns & vermicelli, kau yuk. * Sizzling platter: beef tenderloin, oysters, stuffed eggplant. * Tofu/egg: steam egg custard/tofu, egg w/ bittermelon, egg fu yung. * Veggies: mushrooms w/ veggies, broccoli w/ dried flounder, green beans, ong choy, choy sum, spinach, lotus root. * Starch: fried rice, chow mein, noodles in soup, chow fun, rice noodles. With the extensive menu offerings, there are some items that outshine others, which are to be expected. We ordered the following: * Siu mai. Enjoyed the large siu mai, which the dense pork was mixed with mushrooms and water chestnuts (no shrimp). It was tasty and flavorful. * Jin dui. Loved the large thin-crusted coconut/peanut jin dui, just how my mom used to make them! Most restaurants don't "roll" them enough to get that thin crust, but here, they make it right! * Sticky rice in lotus leaf. Chunks of lup cheong and whole salted egg yolks with mochi rice make this a winner! * Char siu look fun. This is one of my favorite dishes; however, it was not prepared well. Generous chunks of hardened and seemingly old char siu filled the look fun, making it difficult to eat and with a lack of tender flavored char siu. Loved that the sweet sauce is served separately in a squeeze bottle so that you can use as much as you want. * Dong Po Pork. This Hangzhou dish is pork belly braised in soy sauce, Shaoxiang wine, and rock sugar until it's tender and melts in your mouth. The pork bell is tied with a string to hold its shape, and staff will use a scissors to remove it. This dish is savory, sweet and has a rich caramelization; served with broccoli to balance the richness of the sauce. Eaten with rice, I really enjoyed this dish! Well plated and executed! Portions are generous, but price point may be contentious, as some dishes appear to be over-priced, like the char siu look fun. We arrived mid-morning on a weekday, and it was not very crowded. Staff was very friendly, attentive, and bilingual, which made communication easy. Service was quick and efficient. No moving carts, as you're given a sheet of listed dim sum to check off the ones you want to order. The large interior is spacious and clean. Its banquet hall can hold a max of 30+ tables for a private party. There are also smaller private rooms. Extensive renovations were made after the previous restaurant closed. Hours of operation are Thurs to Tues 8a to 9p and Wed 8a to 3p. Regular entrees are not prepared until 10a when the cooks arrive for work. Private parking available in back of the restaurant, municipal parking lots are nearby, and metered street parking are available. Extensive delicious menu offerings, generous portions, and efficient and friendly customer service will likely result in return visits to try other items on the menu. We happened to get a good parking spot so heck, why not go check it out. I read a Yelper's review later that it has parking in the back. Ok, now we know! It's located on King St. near the red dragon pillars. Dining area is pretty big- lots of tables. There are no roving dimsum carts- you order on a sheet the item you want and quantity. What surprised me right off were the prices. I know things are rough for businesses and price hikes are necessary for the bottom line but $5.95/ $7.35 for dim sum? If you want steamed look fun, it'll cost you $10-11. Yikes! Our usual dim sum place is about $1-3 less. But to be fair, the size of the dimsum is huge. The chicken feet we had was sooo plump and the other dim sum looked like overstuffed balls. So okay, maybe the price is fair? Each plate came with 3. The food was tasty too except the chao zhou dumplings with peanut was salty for our taste. Service was okay-the place was hopping so the servers are too busy to check on your tea, order more food, etc. Go up and pay your bill.

We ordered beef chow fun and the stewed meat dish. The food came out hot and quickly. The first bite proved the hype is to be believed. Soup dish had lotsa of meat and noodles. Soup was flavorful and very thinner but great with the meat and noodles. The beef chow fun...definitely had the essence of the wok. Absolutely worth coming. Prices are higher but cost is going up every where. Will return to try more dishes. Wish they would stay open later with a late dinner menu.
