Gel manicure peeling in less than a week

I used to love this salon. I don't know if they're using cheap gel now but my gel mani lasted less than a week. I use gloves for dishwashing and don't use my hands for laborious work so I don't understand why they wouldn't last longer. I'll be looking for a new nail salon. Most of the staff there is friendly so I wish I didn't have to go elsewhere.

I wanted to get a mani and pedi for my sisters wedding this weekend. It's literally in 2 days. After reviewing some local shops, I decided this one since it was walking distance from the barbershop and was getting my son's haircut. I asked for mid tier gel pedi and regular gel mani. My pedi lady was amazing. She did a great job and the hot stone massage made this experience a little more tolerable. The biggest problem was my mani lady. I kid you not, it was the most PAINFUL mani I've ever had in my life. She was so rough and aggressive. She was literally jabbing into the corners of my finger bed with her sharp ass cuticle tool. She knicked me several times which caused me to bleed. I ultimately had to tell her to stop cleaning up my nails cause I was literally already bleeding on 3 fingers. Not 1, not 2 but THREE FINGERS. The alcohol and acetone that was used during the mani also burned like crazy since now I had open wounds. My hands look crusty and beat up since I have dried blood just chilling. My hands are literally ruined for the wedding. Mind you, I am also the MAID OF HONOR!!! I didn't voice my unsatisfactory as the women who did my mani, also rung me up and I try not to be confrontational. I understand businesses and foreign workers and try to sympathize as much as possible. Instead of making a scene inside the salon, I paid full price and included $10 tip for each of the ladies. In all honestly, my mani should've been completely comped. It was a clean facility and the staff were very nice. I'm sure the others may be better but this one in particular I will never use ever again.

I am so beyond happy it isn't even funny. I am the type that is incredibly loyal to my nail salon and went to my previous nail salon and nail tech Son for the better part of 6 years. She recently sold her salon and moved and I tried out the new nail techs that took over her salon.... And had the literal worst experience ever. They overbooked and kept me for 3 hours. I was willing to overlook that as I know Salon's get busy but I got a brand new acrylic set and one of the nails literally popped off in less than 48 hours and my toes were crooked and uneven and one was even cracked. I knew I had to find a new place. That's where Le My's comes in. Bryan did my acrylics, new set and fill and he is EXCELLENT. I've been getting acrylics and fills for almost 15 years and I LOVE his attention to detail and the quality of my set. He is quiet so don't expect him to chat you up during your service, but know he does great work. And I also got a pedicure done. I didn't have time for the deluxe service but it doesn't even matter because it was 10x better than what I had before and Hannah was able to fixed my nail shape (from the crack left by the former salon) and quality was great! I feel so much better! And I am so glad to have found a new Salon. They are busy, but I don't mind considering the service. Thank you to the team at Le My's nails!

My daughter took me to this place for my bday I was very very disappointed I asked for the deluxe pedicure I ended up being there for 2hrs and 30 mins Had 3 different ladies work on my toes and still didn't get it right The manager didn't care didn't offer my money back I Had to be calling and asking for the owner, the owner is never around Today I went to pick up a full refund No apologies Also there's no cosmetology license for any of this ladies working there He didn't care that I am diabetic and my toes were trimmed wrongly and it's a very risky for my medical condition I'll leave this pictures here they will speak for themselves I didn't mean to tap on 1 star I wanted 0 stars on my review

This is a long overdue review. I've been coming here for years, primarily because it's the only place I have found that the Gel lasts the full two weeks. Other places start chipping within a week. The ladies here are all so meticulous in their work, they take their time. It's also very affordable I pay $51 for a gel mani and a regular pedi. They prefer cash and I recommend making an appointment. I have never experienced any rudeness from any of the staff. The main guy has a stern voice but I have perceived more as he's busy and it's a cultural difference in communication styles vs. he's rude. I call to make appt's ahead of time and he's very kind.

We walked in, no appointment and didn't wait too long for assistance. I had a mani and pedi and my sis got a mani. All gel polish. It was quiet. They work very slowly. The girl that did our nails was not very good. They gel polish looked very spotty. They accept credit cards so that's good. They also have wifi. 1 star because its been one week and check out my picture of my sisters nails. Her nails are not acrylics. Before and after wtf? Yeah we won't be going back. read more

Ive been coming to lemys for about 5 years now and im always greeted with a smile but i do recommend to make an appointment monica is a jewel for manicures at lemys her work is beyond great always takes her time and never rushes i highly recommend monica . And for a great pedicure lisa is your go to girl she will not disappoint you especially with the awesome massage she gives you. read more

I liked this place the first time I was there when the owner did my nails and that's why I went back. The second time I was very disappointed :( the guy who did my pedicure did a horrible job, it felt like he had never done pedicures before. He didn't really cut my cuticles, didn't clean round or under my nails. Took him a long time because he was goofing off and talking the whole time not because he was paying attention to detail. I got gel mani and the old lady cut my finger, when I left I kept staring at my hands, the layer of gel was so thin, it felt like I had regular nail polish on and it started coming off within a week. I was surprised that my gel mani was so cheap but I guess u get what u pay for. I rather pay what I normally pay and have my mani last bout 2 weeks. read more

This is my first ever review, And this place is so worth it! I have definitely found my new go-to nail salon. It's a literal hole in the wall with parking in the back. Everyone was very warm and welcoming the moment my mom and I walked in, luckily I had made an appointment cause right after we walked it got packed. I got my acrylic nails (that had been butchered at another salon :( ) taken off and I opted for a gel manicure (color 79, I believe) Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of my girl, but she was amazing. My mom also got a gel manicure (her first one ever!!) from Tiffany and she loved it! Tiffany practically put her to sleep during the massage portion. We will definitely be coming back here for all our mani needs!!! read more

Love this salon! Been coming here for a few years. Love coming in for pedicures and I don't have a specific person to go with, I think the entire staff is great. I love that they take their time and are very detail oriented. Everything looks clean, and they seem very professional. I really enjoy and look forward to my pedi day because I know it will be very relaxing and positive experience. I highly recommend "the special" pedicure, the hot stone massage is EVERYTHING. read more

I have always been happy with my acrylics and gel manicures at Le My. They do a great job and have a great selection of colors. The shop is always busy so an appointment is a must! My 3 star review is because of the way a situation was recently handled. I called and made an appointment for the next day and when I showed up I was told that they did not have me on the schedule. He had the nerve to say "you probably called the wrong number." Instead of trying to figure out what happened the blame was automatically put on me. I did NOT call a wrong number. I explained what time I called and one of the employees who was listening spoke up and explained I spoke with her and that she misheard me. I believe she just wrote my appointment on the wrong date and I understand mistakes happen, but as a business I wish they would have at least apologized for the mistake. Instead they just sat there staring at me waiting for me to leave. He didn't even ask me if I still wanted to keep my scheduled appointment for the next day. I just got up and left and will not be returning. read more

Been having challenges with locating a salon that has the proper balance between quality work and not paying for over the top services. Translation: Its been a hell of a time finding a shop that does good work without robbing me blind. I believe I've found the place. They have a fantastic array of colors for both your hands and feet, the place is clean and sanitary, and unlike other salons, where they treat the foot massage like slathering lotion on your legs, these people do not skimp on the foot massage. Their a la carte services are very reasonable as well. Reasonably priced, friendly people, beautiful work (and colors) that LAST. A good time had by all. read more

It was a sort of a drive to come here but I was on a search for better cleaner and good customer service nail salons. I have a lot of cuticle skin and for the first time I don't see not one and I don't have to tell anyone to fix it or cut more. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I love this nail shop!!! Today was my second time coming here! I made a appt for gel mani and pedi! I requested Harley for my pedi! She is the best!! I love her because she takes her time and considering the fact I'm 36 weeks pregnant I definitely came back to her for her awesome massages! My manicurist was also very good! They do not rush!! So if you're looking for something quick this place is not for you! I love the environment and most of all the fact that they really take their time and make you feel pampered! Great customer service and the staff listen to what you like to have done on your nails and toes. This is my first time coming to this nail shop and i loved the services. It's better than any other nail shop. Super clean and the tools are sterilized too. I have been to this salon about 4 times. I really like the work they do (especially Sophia for Pedis). The salon is clean, their prices are reasonable, and the staff does not talk to each other while they are working on a client (which always makes me feel like I'm being talked about, just probably my paranoia). They also have a good selection of nail polishes nice color and good brands (OPI, China Glaze, etc.). There is only one thing that keeps me from giving Le My's five stars- the wait time. The first time I booked an appointment on a Sunday I waited 20 minutes. The second time I booked an appointment was on a Monday and I waited a whopping 45 minutes, but there were only three techs working that day. I guess that is the price you pay for good pedi. The Techs here take their time and don't rush even if they have another appointment booked- which is good but can also be bad for business if people don't want to wait. You don't feel rushed as a customer too. They always make sure I am comfortable and that I'm satisfied. They do not ask you to pay before getting your nails painted like other places. This always makes me feel rushed. Usually I wait about 10-15 minutes after my polish dries and then pay the Tech. I am not harassed for payment right away. So, if you want a good relaxing pedi and you have the time to spare, this is a good place to try. read more

This is the first time I come to this nail salon and overall my experience was a good one. I selected 3 stars due to the fact that my left hand (middle finger nail) was crooked... I didn't realize it when I was there and that it totally my fault, however the crooked nail is pretty noticeable and I am now stuck with it until I need a fill. One of the things I liked about this place was how they honor appointments! I have had bad experiences with other nail salons that overbook appointments but this place was nothing like that. I called during the day and scheduled my appt at 5:30pm, I arrived about 10 minutes earlier and was seated within 5 minutes!! I am going to give this place another shot when I need my fills and I will definitely pay attention to avoid another crooked nail!! read more

3rd time visiting this place and I'm still impressed. I had them put acrylic over my own nails to keep them from breaking. Love that it didn't make them much thicker, even with gel polish on top. I was out of there in under two hours for pedicure and acrylic set. Not bad at all if you ask me. Don't forget to make an appointment prior to visiting to avoid waiting. They get busy! read more

Love coming here, a good staple where you know you'll get great looking nails! The special pedicure is my fav, reasonably priced and so relaxing. Call and make an appointment as they can get pretty busy. Love this place. read more

Finally found my nail salon. I came here just for a gel manicure... I wanted to try them out before even going as far as a pedicure. They have a good environment, clean and organized. They never once tried to up sell or pressure me, I did not have an appointment and they still treated me just as if I had. I waited less than 10 minutes and my manicure artist really took her time which is something I appreciate. Her name was JC I think. This place is classy, friendly, and I loved the gel manicure with the oil hand massage and lotion. Definitely gained a new and returning customer. read more

This place had great service, great price and very clean. I walked in on a Friday morning and did not wait long. The only thing I didn't like is that they did not have a lot of different polish colors to my liking. Also, I prefer Essie or OPI and they did not have any at all. I like the service here. The people are good at what they do because it's normally full with a waiting list. I like to call in advance to let them know I will show up at a specific time and also to know if they will be able to service me. Anna has done my gel manicure these past couple of times and she is AWESOME! She's so gentle and the massage at the end is incredible. They have a great variety for gel colors and regular nail polish too. I go early during the week so that I don't have to deal with the waiting time and parking can get a little crazy in this area. read more

We are sometimes extremely busy after 3 pm especially from Thursday to Saturday, so please call ahead to avoid waiting. There is some parking in the back of the shop.

History

Established in 2010.

Our salon was completely remodeled from top to bottom. It is furnished with the newest modern salon equipment. There are 5 pedicure spa chairs with latest Japanese style Shiatsu massage backs along with 5 manicure tables. We have over 100 bottles of Gel colors and over 150 nail polish to choose from. We have a big fully equip facial and waxing room. There are also 3 hair stations with 2 shampoo chairs and 2 hair dyer chairs as well.

So then as he started I noticed he didn't clean my nails or trim my cuticles or anything and I was curious because I've gotten my nails done already from other salons and they've always taken care of my nails and properly prepped them the same ways but this guy was skipping almost every step?! On top of that instead of upselling me he downsold me, I wanted a whole new set because my previous set was chipped and starting to fall off and he said no he had me do a fill instead which I mean if my nails were still go to do a fill than whatever I don't mind saving money but he said it would be $15 cheaper so it should of been $61 but instead I was charged $68. On top of that as he was doing my nails he was not measuring the nails he was not filing them correctly and was not even he wasn't even layering my hands to make sure both hands we're symmetrical I had to keep doing it myself! I had to keep telling him to fix my nails because they were crooked or jagged and I was just kind of frustrated at this point and wanted to get it done and over with. He even was getting the French tip design wrong and had to redo it a few times. By the time we were done my nails looked somewhat decent and I was ready to go because I was just done with it. Oh and he only did one layer of clear coat and didn't even oil my cuticles or anything like that. And it's just him! I saw the nail tech next to him working on a different client and she was getting such a different experience than what I was getting When I got home I re looked at my nails under different lighting and realized he glued hair in my nails which is disgusting and I can't take it out unless I file the nail down, the nail polish is streaky and bubbly and even after all the corrections I had him do some nails are still jagged on the edges and not smooth! I wish I would have gotten the guys name because they have 3 guys there but I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE not unless you get one of the ladies or guys that actually give a shit compared to this man that did my nails cause clearly he did not want to be there and rushed/botched my nails Also it's only been a few days and the nail polish is already falling off.

The sign in the window says you don't need an appointment and unfortunately with my work schedule I cannot make appointments. But every single time I have walked in it's the same thing. The man in the front states: "Do you have appointment? Me: "No,I'm sorry I do not" The man: "How can we help you?" Me: "I want a manicure and pedicure" The man: "oh" looks around his shop ... "It's gonna be like 2 hours wait ... You want gel?" Mind you there's a time I said no and I got it's better you make appointment. There's a times I said yes and he said okay give me like 30 mins. Really? I understand waiting because I don't have an appointment but 2 hours? Then if I want Gel it's only 30 mins? Lol so basically the more money your looking to spend here no worries we will get you right in the less money you wanna spend no I'm sorry we can't help. Mind you this is a want not a need I don't mind spending money especially on my nails and pedicures. We had an exceptional Pedicure Experience! We booked an appointment for three pedicures and were warmly greeted upon arrival. The staff efficiently prepared the pedicure stations, complete with soothing warm water and relaxing massage chairs. We were Impressed by their attention to detail, my technician, Mary, and the owner (I assume) sampled nail polish colors on their own nails to ensure we chose the perfect shade to match our manicures. Her gentle hands and careful touch put me at ease, especially after traumatizing past experiences at other salons where I was cut. I was nervous, but Mary unknowingly eased my anxiety. We opted for gel pedicures and are hoping they last! Regardless, we're already planning our next visit. Okay. So I never really go to get mani/pedis. Tried it once at a Hawaiian Gardens nail spa and had the worst experience. But this time my sister dragged me to French Nail & Spa. Glad she did as now I like going every so often. This place went through a remodel with new owners but most of the same staff kept in tact from previously. Nice remodel service. Kelly is a hoot. Does great design also. If you can splurge once in a while for a pedicure do it with their deluxe package which includes paraffin and sea scrub of your feet. Leg and feet massage along with callous removal off the soles. Oh how to feel the warm paraffin gel onto your feel. I fell asleep while kelly massaged my feet and legs. Wow!!! I have been trying several different nail salons in Downey and I have been extremely disappointed but after coming to le my's I can't imagine ever going anywhere else. The service was so great. I usually get acrylics because of the frail condition that my natural nails are in but Karen convinced me to try gel and I love it. However, I repeatedly witnessed the way other customers were spoken to and treated, which ultimately made me decide to take my business elsewhere. Yesterday, I decided to give them one last chance, and unfortunately, my experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. I walked in without an appointment, and the salon was essentially empty. I understood there was one customer being serviced, so I expected there might be a wait. I asked Vivian if I could get a Gel-X set and a pedicure. After talking amongst themselves, I was told there would be about an hour wait. I said that was completely fine and that I would come back. I noticed they closed at 7 PM, and they told me to come back around 6:30 PM. Because I have personally experienced being rushed when getting services close to closing time, I politely asked, "Are you sure that's a good time? I don't want you to feel rushed, and I don't want to feel rushed either." Instead of simply reassuring me or suggesting another time, Nancy responded, "Well, don't come then." That comment was completely unnecessary and, honestly, was the final straw for me. I simply walked out. A few minutes later, I called Vivian, who I believe is the owner, to explain how rude and disrespectful. I told her that the comment was unnecessary and she stayed quiet. What makes this especially disappointing is that this place used to be so nice and welcoming. I remember when the staff genuinely seemed to care about their customers. Unfortunately, based on my past experiences, what I have witnessed with other customers, and the recent experience, it feels like customer service is no longer a priority. These were supposed to be my birthday nails, which made the experience even more disappointing. I used to come here for my birthday every year, so it honestly meant something to me to continue that tradition. But after yesterday, I know I won't be returning. I ended up going to a new place in Pico Rivera called Glossie Nail Spa. I explained what I wanted, they welcomed me as a walk-in, offered me a margarita, and walked me through the entire process. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and genuinely made me feel like a valued customer. I will definitely be taking my business there moving forward. I don't normally leave negative reviews, especially for a business I supported for so many years, but loyalty should go both ways. After being a customer since 2019, I expected to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience this time.
