The first time we went to this location, the food tasted like it was cooked or rolled in cleaning supplies. We had to throw it all out, and despite contacting them, we never got a refund. We waited a year and gave them another try- pastries to go, picked up curbside. Food was good and we hoped the previous time was a fluke. Went to have a late lunch in person and the ice dispenser on the drink machine was dripping green slime and had green slime and what looked like algae visible in the plastic ice dispenser. Needless to say, we requested a refund and left without eating or drinking anything. If the part visible to customers is allowed to be filthy enough to have visible dripping slime, I worry about the kitchen and could never feel comfortable eating at this location again. I will say they were taking the machine apart and cleaning it when we left, but that was only AFTER first trying to convince me the green slime was "water" (not a joke, the first employee told me that). To quote my daughter, "I really like this place, it's a lot nicer than the other one." Their ordering is a bit different from other La Madeleines. You don't get a tray, you just order everything at the cash register, which I kind of miss. I normally like getting my soup, salads, and such first. We went when it was busy so there was a bit of a wait however the food is the same and delicious. The layout is nice, it has separate dining area so you can sit in different "rooms." Fireplace is smaller than other locations but it's very quaint. I saw that they have an outdoor patio but did not take a look. I will be back! read more

Found a dead ladybug and its wings in my salad. When I discreetly brought my plate up to the counter and politely pointed it out, Crystal who I presume is the manager told me the ladybug is "good luck" and "extra protein". She then asked if I wanted another plate, but unfortunately my appetite was spoiled. When I asked for a refund instead, she insisted I provide a receipt (unfortunately, no one gave me or even offered a receipt when I purchased the food). When I told Crystal this, she rolled her eyes and said I need to provide her the number from the table marker that they gave me with the food, or else she can't refund me... well, I didn't memorize my table marker number, nor is it common practice to do so. I showed her the transaction receipt from my credit card company, and she condescendingly stated "that doesn't help me... you REALLY don't remember your number? You don't even remember the number on the marker they gave you?". After huffing and puffing, angrily storming to my table and asking my friends loudly if they remember the number, she finally was able to refund me without needing the number at all. I am on the quest to finding a great spot for my remote work, especially in North West Austin area.I have visited this establishment several times by now, so ready to give my current review. Parking: plenty spots available due to the fact it's located within a big shopping center. Wifi: Yes! No need to ask for password. Outlets: surprisingly, there are plenty of them. Seats: comfy chairs and lots of tables are available. Food: selection is limited and a little dried out depending on the time you purchase, but overall good enough. Drink: selection is very limited. For a remote work space, this cafe is actually pretty good. Highly recommended if you need a spot to do your remote work and have a meal altogether. Not a clean place. Waited for them to clean a table for our party of 6 and we had to ask. They cleared the previous party's dishes but left the crumbs spills. Had to ask again to wipe the table down and when they did they wiped part of the table down and left the rest dirty. I had to wet a paper napkin to wipe the table down myself. I would expect clearing a table and a full wipe down with a disinfectant to be a normal practice. We sat at the table next to the kitchen exit and they had trouble finding our table to bring our food. They walked around the restaurant then gave up and took the food back to the kitchen. We had to go to the counter and ask them to bring the food which ended up having two of the salads wrong. Ordering a bowl of soup is confusing to this restaurant. Had to explain three times I wanted a bowl of soup; then, as I sat waiting they came to my table and asked if I wanted a bowl or cup. Not sure why ordering a bowl is so confusing. The Lakeline Market breakfast - Eggs cooked differently from my request, bacon was so thin it could have been the paper microwave type. My croissant was hard and cold. The quality of food seemed to be much more fast-foody, at least for the American breakfast. Disappointing. Do better - be better, please! I love this place, so much that I had one of my baby showers here with coworkers . I frequent the chicken Caesar salad when I can for lunch, and yes I am that picky person who does not like a fishy dressing with true anchovies. If you love basil pesto as much as I do, you'll gravitate to the pesto chicken pasta-bow tie pasta, grilled chicken. If I had a bottomless stomach and didn't care to keep my girlish figure I'd pile that down with my salad but it's either one or the other most days. Chocolate croissants, lemon tarts...I do love it all. Their lemonade is probably country time lemonade but in all fairness, it's so good I'm just glad it's available. I'm a pretty loyal lover of La Madeleine cafe, as you can scroll through my other posts. I can be pretty critical of this place, I think I've dined at the La Madeleines' for 15 years, at least 1,000 times. Today was my first time to visit this new location, I was impressed. The service was very friendly, from the cashier, the manager, the food runner--they were all nice. I had my go to comfort plate, the duet magnifique, a chicken salad croissant, spinach salad on the side and my favorite French onion soup which were all perfect. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect: The ambience was nice, a lot of natural light throughout, the yummy case of the desserts when you walk in, more private bench seating, very nice bathrooms, distressed wood flooring, nice straw and wood chairs, distressed oversized tables for large groups or families that need some extra space, a huge outdoor covered seating area, lots of seating in separated rooms, a party room which is perfect for baby showers, the lovely fire place that is a signature of La Madeleine. After all these years, I find that they offer 10% off to military, why on Earth did they not give this to me in the past, I don't know but they say they offer it now, so good move La Madeleine, I love you just a little bit more now : ) read more

SATURDAY AFTERNOON YUCK FEST Upon entering, the eye is pleasured by the shiny and ornate pastries in the glass display case directly in front of the entry door. To the right of the door is the wall pocket containing the menus. The one that I grabbed on this visit was clean - an improvement over last visit in which I turned the filthy menu in to the cashier to send back to the ware washer. The menu is very hard to read. The contrast between the background of the menu and the slight variations in font weight and style give very little definition to not only different menu sections, but the individual items themselves. This is my third visit, and I pretty much had a taste for a particular item when I entered. Nonetheless, the menu didn't produce anything interesting as I tried to decipher it, but the potato cake on the line got my attention. While sauntering down the glass-shielded prep line making way to the cashier, the nose is treated to a blast of yeasty savory-sweet aromas when the pastry proofing cabinet is opened and the ventilation wafts the warmed scents across the line. In front of us is being plated freshly assembled and seasoned green salads with a side scoop of tuna salad, which then is placed at the kitchen pass thru to receive an entree. Then there is a griddle with various quiche and friand displayed, along with other savory stuffed pastries and potato items. At the cashier one places his order and pays for his meal. After completing the transaction, the patron is handed one of a pile of absolutely greasy, filthy dirty, germ-laden, sticky wooden spoon on a wood block as a table marker to receive delivery of one's goods. I cannot emphasize enough the absolute filth of this dirty wooden token that is handled by every person that enters the establishment straight off the street. It just makes me sick. Having set our filthy wooden spoon on our table that we are going to eat at, I go the bread bar to get some bread and honey. I pick up a plate from the nearest pile and flop some bread pieces on it, then look down to see my little plate covered in some kind of residue from a previous serving of something or other. Then look at the plates in the particular stack to notice that every plate is filthy. It seems that a stack of dirty plates didn't make it through the ware washer before being grabbed and set back out in the dining room. It looks like maybe the stack may have made it through a rinse. I told a server about the issue and took him over to look at the plates and he acknowledged the concern, but he left and nothing was done about the dirty plates for several minutes. Meanwhile a young girl picks up a filthy plate, gives it a once-over and swipe with a finger before deciding it was okay then plating some bread. Finally I found a bus boy who immediately took the dirty plates out of the dining room. Okay, now that we are done with the pre-lunch yuck fest, we can look at our meal. The salmon and lentils was very good, and consistent with the quality and flavor of my previous experience with the dish. The sea salt baguette was not as tender as I am used to over my past couple of visits. The potato cake was an awful garlic bomb. Seriously, someone in the kitchen needs to taste this stuff. I thought perhaps the potato might be so seasoned so as to accompany a couple fried eggs lain over or something, but frankly the intense garlic flavor is bitter and doesn't stand on it's own, anywhere. It was reported the turkey sandwich and kale and lentil soup and fruit cup were all very palatable and fresh with no particular outstanding impressions, however. Two stars, but only for the excellence of the staff. The manager, Nicole, is absolutely wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. We had a... Lackluster meal experience at best. The French Onion soup was awful. Watery, barely a broth with a handful of vaguely cooked onions. The Caesar salad was good and the dressing very bright in flavor. The French Dip was mealy and the au jus was more flavorful than the soup I ordered. My companions' order was only vaguely redeemed by the tomato basil soup. Apparently, they had difficulties with the hot plate they kept the quiches on. The one we had originally received was scorched on the bottom and the crust had gone the way of cardboard. The replacement one, fresh from the oven, was good. The turkey sandwich, replacing the unseasoned and awful textured roast beef, Nicole made for me was very good. I would definitely return to this location for the fantastic staff and delicious desserts (oh my gods, their eclair is beyond delicious!), but I not sure it's an entree occasion for nearly $15 a person. read more

Horrible customer service!!!! Not only did they take 20 mins for make my YOGURT PARFAIT... 5 mins after later my caramel macchiato double is out. When I went up to ask for my food, an employee yelled at me saying "we're 15 mins behind..." I was appalled of how rude this response was. I understand the pressure but there are many other directions to make a customer feel acknowledged and provide them with feedback. I was pretty skeptical about eating here given the reviews i had read leading up to our visit. I came in with my wife and adult son, my wife got a chicken sandwich with avocado that she said was delicious, my son got a chicken entree with a side salad, and he was pleased as well... I got the French Dip, I had been wanting one a for a while now and hadn't had the chance. This was the best French Dip sandwich I've ever had... seriously. We had the misfortune of dining at the N. 183/Lakeline, Austin, Tx location today. As we stood in line (about noon), I heard the general manager, Melinda Davis, tell the cashier to "Slow down taking orders ! We can't fill them that fast!" The couple standing in front of us turned around and asked, "Should we walk slower? We're at a standstill as it is!" Melinda continued, "I'm only one person!" [Although she was surrounded by employees working as fast as they could.] As we sat trying to have a nice, belated Mother's Day celebration we watched as her diatribe against her employees continued. She is a detriment to your company! Morale is low, we could see it in the way the employees looked down or away from her as she continued her barrage of complaints. How are your customers supposed to enjoy their meals listening to such a loud, obnoxious person? You need to transfer her away from paying guests, perhaps in the kitchen where she can prepare meals at a pace which suits her. read more

Stopped in for lunch on Sunday around 11am. They serve breakfast all day everyday, but the salad sampler looked good. You get to pick 3 salads. The Cesar salad with chicken was my favorite. Lots of well flavored chicken! The spinach, bacon and strawberry salad was good too. I really loved the strawberry Romanoff. I was very disappointed at the service I received from this location of Le Madeleine. Firstly, The cashier did not smile once, very short with me, and borderline rude when I was placing my order. I distinctly told her I wanted a full sandwich with a side of soup, but when the food was being delivered, only a half sandwich was given to me. It appeared to be the manager who delivered my food, and when I told him I had ordered a full sandwich, he told me I had only ordered a half sandwich. I tried to explain there must have been some sort of misunderstanding at the register, but he did not offer to try to fix the situation in any way and just walked off. I am not the kind of person to complain about service unless it is very bad. I worked in the restaurant industry for over seven years, so I know how hard of a job it is. Pretty good experience. Cute inside like a story book cottage. First time eating here, I have to say that the menu seemed complicated to look through as a first timer and could use improvements. The lady behind the counter was very patient with us and helpful with suggestions. I had picked out the half chicken/rosemary chicken dish I saw on yelp ahead of coming here, only to find out it was long gone from the menu, sadly. It was hard to find another gluten free alternative with the majority of the food offerings being pastries and sandwich options. I settled for the chicken a la madeline. When it arrived it looked like the food you get served at a cheap wedding. Very rectangular "chicken breast" covered in sauce, rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. Fortunately, it tasted better than it looked. My friend tried a bacon quiche and tomato basil soup and said it was tasty. Since the restaurant wasn't crowded, we were able to stay a while and chat a good while. Nice girly lunch place. La Madeleine does a good job with breakfasts. You order at the counter and then proceed to find a seat, and they bring your meal to you. The counter experience in the mornings is more than frustrating. I am not sure where the disconnect is, but frequently there is a misunderstanding and order needs to be repeated - staff is not that friendly and very rarely smiles. Whoever made the price here is definitely on something. The difference between a whole sandwich and a half sandwich is like $1. The GM Malinda is loud and straight up rude to her employees. I ear dropped that she scrolled one employee for putting "too much" croutons in soup (it was like 1 piece extra, how much does it cost? 0.001). Lady, customers can hear your stingy quite well, and would run far away for sure. Also, most of the front staff are like high school kids that can't be any easier to bully as they don't fully know their rights.
