Ordered a ceviche mixto, 1/2 chicken, and arroz con mariscos (Peruvian paella with seafood). The ceviche mixto was really good to share. The 1/2 chicken was really juicy and the skin was super tasty and flavorful. The arroz con mariscos was good, but there was very little meat in the mussels and clams. Came here for lunch on a Sunday around 1 30. The place wasn't busy yet at this time, only 1 other party there. The restaurant has very dim lighting, I was a bit taken aback at first. The place seems to be kept very clean. The staff were attentive. We ordered the beef empanada (which I thought was okay, definitely wasn't bad, but probably wouldn't order again, it's one of those "okay I tried it" items." I ordered a cocktail, Machu Plus Picchu, I thought it would taste really good since it has passionfruit, but i acutely didn't like it at all, I didn't taste any passionfruit flavor. Im also a person who love sweet things, so put that into perspective as well. We also ordered an order of 1/2 chicken with rice and beans. The plate they gave was pretty big, I was so excited to dig in. The rotisserie chicken, amazing! So juicy, full of flavor, I couldn't stop eating it! I would put this as one of my favorite chicken spots. The rice and beans that it came with was full of flavor as well. We ordered the Helado de Lucuma for dessert. (Unfortunately they didn't have tres leches or flan at the time.) We spent about $130 for a party of 4. Wanted to note, in the middle of our meal, I looked up and realized that all the tables were occupied, so this place get busy! Ordered take out from this place and picked it up no problem. A couple days later, i see the final charge on my credit card statement and it didn't look right. Turns out the waiter who took my order took the liberty to give himself an 11$ tip on a TAKEOUT order I picked up myself. Thats a bit ridiculous. Shouldn't you ask me how much I want to tip? Food here is really good. I left stuffed and satisfied. I came here on a rainy Saturday night with a group of friends. The place wasn't packed, probably only one big table of a family and another small table besides us at the time? More people came afterwards. We ordered a whole chicken, mixed ceviche, the seafood paella, two different skirt steaks, and the fried seafood platter. The rotisserie chicken was moist and flavorful, I really enjoyed it. I love seafood so the mixed ceviche was a must for me. The fried seafood platter was also very good; although I've never tried fried mussels before. The meat inside is basically a piece of crisp and you can barely get it out but nevertheless, the flavor was still all there. The seafood consists of shrimp, mussels, clams, fish and yuca. The seafood paella was also delish! The right amount of flavor and I loved the clams in there. One of the skirt steaks was cooked a bit over so it was dry but otherwise, still good. For dessert, they didn't have a lot of the items on the menu except for four. We got two flans (my favorite) and lucuma ice cream (helado de lucuma). It's basically a Peruvian fruit ice cream. The texture of it was very interesting; had the consistency of cake... kinda clumpy but the flavor taste like peanut butter? I can't quite remember but it was delicious. I came here after read the reviews and though it's good. Service is nice and that's why they automatically charge 20% gratuity in the receipt. They also charged 4% credit cards fee and the waiter never mentioned about it. This is ridiculous. The food portion is decent BUT 6 of us think the food is so so. 3.5 Bang for your buck peruvian food. Meant to be a family restaurant with large serving sizes that are shareable between a group of 3-4 (especially if you order the chicken combo). La chacra is a little heavy on the salt so it is very likely that your dishes will come out a little on the saltier side, but still pretty tasty. Leave those salt and pepper shakes to the sidee. In addition to their strongly flavored dishes, complimentary verde sauce is offered with your free plantain chips. I try to dip almost everything and anything in their sauce when it's not too salty because it's the perfect complement to any meaty dish. If green sauce isn't your type of colored sauce, they also offer you a BUCKET of mayo & ketchup to go with your chicken combo. (fries, chicken, rice and beans & avocado salad) One of my favorite apps to order are the mussels. It's refreshing, acidic, and a great start to the meal. They come topped with lime juice, peruvian corn, tomatoes, and onions. La chacra is better than pio pio in my opinion and more of a hidden restaurant in the bensonhurst area. Looking for good Peruvian food in South Brooklyn? Feeling a hole in your heart after realizing Pio Pio's Gravesend location had closed? Well, La Chacra will make you fall in love with Peruvian food ALL OVER AGAIN. My wife and I have been seriously running out of food options in Brooklyn having explored the entire southern part of borough over the past few years together - American, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Malaysian, Mexican, Russian, Vietnamese - you name the cuisine and we've explored the most popular of restaurants serving them. And with those adventures, there's a whole lot of consequence to those trips, as in an undesired expansion of the belt line. So, what else was there to explore? Peruvian of course! But with Pio Pio's closing in Gravesend, solid choices were slim, until we found La Chacra's respectable reviews on Yelp. We swung by at around 6:15pm on a Friday evening and, if you're familiar with the area, then you will know that parking is slim pickings all of the time with the plethora of double parked cars on the block. Chances of finding a parking space usually increase on the side streets. The small restaurant was pretty quiet when we walked in with just 2 other parties inside, but while we dined, foot traffic was pretty constant and by the time we left, the restaurant had a decent amount of tables filled. If you've been to a Pio Pio, the menu here will look just like your classic Peruvian restaurant menu, with the spotlight shone on the rotisserie chicken combos and sides. And, honestly, it's the extent to which most customers will look at the menu, which is perfectly fine because you're really here for the chicken. One thing that customers will notice though and, quite frankly, loveeeeeee, are the reasonable prices. From the rotisserie chicken combo section, ¼ chicken and 1/2 chicken combos were ONLY $9.50 and $12.50, respectively, with a side of either fries and salad or rice and beans. The sides part kind of sucked as customers are stuck with those limited additions and cannot swap them out with something like maduros, which would count as its own separate side. If you came with a party of 3 or 4 OR can just down right eat a horse, there's only one choice you should go with - The Combo La Chacra - a whole chicken, salad, salchipapa, maduros, rice and beans all for just $32! Without reference, $32 might seem steep, but compared to the consensus favorite of Peruvian cuisine lovers, Pio Pio, it's a damn straight steal as it typically runs at $42+. OK OK, so it's inexpensive, but how does it fare versus Pio Pio's famed Matador Combo? Hmmmm, a few thumps up ... and a few (small) thumbs down. Everything was about on point, but we couldn't help and nitpick here and there. First, the chicken was cut up into 4 pieces (as typical) and flavorful as heck, even the typically dry, flavorless white meat. The white meat was a bit dry, as expected, but if eaten with the skin, it made a huge difference. It was also accompanied by the addictive Peruvian green sauce/Aji Verde, which was (dare I say) unlimited. The salad was probably the most underwhelming item as there wasn't a lot of avocado slices and a few of the pieces that were there had tiny black spots, which was a sign of not being fresh anymore. The salchipapa was excellent. You can't really go wrong with crispy fries with hot dog slices mixed in, however we could have used a little bit more hot dog. The maduros were also great and they gave a nice portion for that, so in a way, it made up for some of the shortcomings. The rice and beans, well, were what they were, but like the salchipapa we could have used MORE. Overall, everything was solid. Was it Pio Pio? Not exactly, but for $10 less on the Combo La Chacra, I'll easily take it. The Combo La Chacra was great and our only legitimate gripe was the avocado's freshness. The chicken, salchipapa, maduros and rice and beans were everything we could have hoped for here. In addition, the waiter was quick and friendly and we asked for extra green sauce and he gladly obliged. If Peruvian food is what you're craving, put La Chacra close to the top of your list. read more

I absolutely love the ambiance , food and drinks. My issue is every time I go in , the place is pretty much empty and when I request to sit in a particular section. I am always told, that it is reserved for a large party coming in shortly. We order our meal and spend at least 2 hours there and no one ever shows up. We are beginning to get turned off and we have recommended so many people to go there . My mom loves Peruvian and I kept on passing by this place until last week I decided to give it a try. I ate a leisurely meal with the entire family. We gave it our all! We provide calamari, boneless chicken, and empanadas as appetizers. Our main course consists of two orders of Lomo Saltado (steak with onions, tomatoes, fries, and rice), three orders of Marisco (seafood), and one combo of whole chicken, a pork chop, paella, and mussels. We had flan and tres leches for dessert, both of which I heartily suggest! We waited for approximately 30 minutes, but it didn't bother us because we talked a lot, and the establishment provided us freebies. The dish was presented beautifully and was served hot. I don't know why it took so long for me to review La Chacra! We've ordered from here several times already and it's usually always good and hits the spot. Our go-to is the Combo La Chacra - PLENTY of food for the entire family! We usually have leftovers and can make lunch the next day. Of the four times we've ordered from them, the chicken was only disappointing (overly dry) once. So hooray to the 75% satisfaction rate!!
