Location/Service This place is located inside King Square on the first floor by the sides. Parking readily available outside the plaza or underground (my preferred choice). The place is big enough, high ceilings with good use of lightning. There is an area where you can see the bamboo folding process of the noodles, which is good to learn about the history and effort behind it. Staff were nice, orders came in pretty quick and staff were also helpful with the menu selections. Food Got invited to try their new 2026 new menu items, which includes * Main: Four Treasure Big Bowl Noodle (四寶大碗麵) * Specialty: Clear Broth Veal Brisket (清湯牛腩) * Snack: Assorted Fried Bites Basket (什錦炸物籃) * and of course drink and dessert to finish off The noodles were very bouncy and chewy, that's because the jook sing (bamboo pole) method gives them 2x the gluten strength of machine-made noodles that perfect elastic, bouncy bite you can really feel. It was such an experience to learn the history behind and understand the amount of time and effort that's required. Makes me appreciate the bowl of noodles even more! The veal is also very tender and soft, with a very clean broth. The assorted basket is typical, with fried goods - so nothing can go wrong with that. This bamboo pole method is actually considered a dying art since a lot of the previous generation experts are now retired. Hope this store continues to bloom and spread cultural history!

Set Meal #3

What a hidden gem. More people to try this spot. We were shown this 120 year old process of making the chewiest freshest hand made noodles I've ever tasted. We witnessed the rhythmic art of Jook Sing Meen at Kwan Kee Bamboo Noodle. This Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient is one of the last guardians of a vanishing craft. Using a heavy bamboo pole, the master "seesaws" to knead egg-rich dough, achieving 100% gluten development for a signature "springy" bite that machines simply cannot replicate. The noodles are then "aged" for 24 hours to ensure a clean, eggy flavor without the harsh alkaline aftertaste. They have a new 2026 tasting menu of set meals. It's a must try. Amazing and quick service.

The plaza has a ton of parking space and also underground parking. The plaza can get confusing and may get lost or difficult to find the store. We ordered the noodle soup dumplings and dried noodle with dumplings which comes with a side of soup. They offered an additional side of beef brisket sauce for you to add to your soup or noodle dipping. Noodles were all dente, bouncy and chewy as expected as they specialize in bamboo noodles. Noodles using bamboo to compress will create a very bouncy texture. Soup base was strong in fish broth flavour. The dumplings were mostly pork minced meat mixture inside with some shrimps. I personally prefer the dumplings with all shrimps for a stronger seafood taste. These dumplings were a little blend imo. Beef brisket sauce had a very strong starinese taste. Not my cup of tea. 3.5 stars overall and servers were kind and friendly.

3.5 stars. Located in the King's Square in the north west corner of Woodbine and 16th. There is plenty of parking underground and above ground. The shop is currently in soft opening phase and working out the kinks. The shop is known for its in shop made bamboo pressed noodles to enhance the texture. There is plenty of staff on hand to ensure all items are ordered and delivered lickity split. The BB3 House Special Big Bowl Noodles ( tobiko wonton, beef brisket, pork feet and beef tripe) - the noodles were the highlight! The texture and snap cannot be found in any noodle shop currently in Toronto. The soup base was rich, and the beef brisket/ pork feet/ trip were marinated well and cooked to be melt in your mouth. The wontons were different and flavourful. Shrimp toast was fresh and had a nice crunch to it. They are unique that it is not the traditional shrimp paste topping, it is with a full butterflied shrimp that we get to enjoy. The milk tea was freshly brewed and served piping hot. The shop offers weekday tea time promotions (M-F 2:30-5:30) which includes a noodle with a hot drink (cold drinks $1.50 extra) The seating is spacious and don't feel crammed in. A big plus is the large window allowing for plenty of natural sunlight to shine in. The restaurant is accessible friendly for those needing the extra space. One note is that there is no washroom inside and need to use the common one found in the mall.

It was my first time coming to this restaurant. I was a bit lost finding where it was located inside the plaza. It is best to come before 12 p.m. as the crowd and lineup start to form. We arrived at 11:30, and it was packed, but luckily, we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. And it wasn't too loud; it was just like other *cha chaan teng* (Hong Kong-style cafe) with a regular noise level. I ordered two kinds of beef brisket and tobiko wontons with thick noodles. I liked what I ordered, but will I intentionally come back again for it? Probably not. That's my own opinion; you should definitely try it yourself. As for takeout, it doesn't taste the same as eating there. I got takeout for my yeobo, and it was so-so. He did not like it, and my order was wrong.

Only 200 bamboo noodles available daily
John Y.

Hhhmmm, bamboo pressed noodles, tried in Hong Kong, can't remember if it makes a difference in the noodles texture or not, anyway it's a dying art, so let's give this ancient noodle making technique some support. Supposedly only 200 bowls of bamboo pressed noodles available each day, today is my lucky day. Ordered dumpling with larger flat noodles soup and dry thin noodles with brisket and tendon. Both noodles were firm and chewy, nothing really special about them, as far as I'm concerned these noodles could have been kneaded by human hands. The beef brisket and tendon were of good quality. Soup base I thought was a little weak, based on their soup ingredient list and description I was expecting something spectacular, my bad. Need to work on their quality control as the side bowl of soup that came with the dried noodles was cold, staff alerted and came back with what should have been hot soup with no comment or apologies, I guess this isn't the first time. There is a large window where you can view the noodle making staff, however it looked like any other noodle making kitchen, if I was the owner, I would have had the staff bouncing on a large bamboo pole kneading the dough for all customers to see and enjoy during the afternoon lunch period, maybe I came at the wrong time but it was the peak lunch period with many people waiting Afterall, this is the main attraction on why I chose to dine in this restaurant as I'm sure with others as well I predict this establishment won't last too long, lazy and unimaginative management will drive customers back to their other normal noodle vendors, I know I won't be going back. Marketing will initially attract the curious, however the final product determines repeat customers. Oh well a small disappointment, onto further foodie adventures.

Fried wontons.

How does this place plan on establishing itself when they lack the efficiency needed to be successful? I understand they're new and still in their early opening stage. Either way, I was not impressed. I came in the middle of the afternoon and waited over an hour while tables were empty and the line was incredibly long. There happened to be an afternoon promotion so that's probably another reason for the crowd of people. The workers need to move faster or they need more workers. I heard they give a 5 minute grace period after they text you to inform you that your table is available. IMHO, if you're not there with 30 others standing around waiting, your table should be forfeited. This is why there were noticeable lulls of empty seats. I'm sure people gave up after waiting for so long. The restaurant seating should have more smaller tables for 2. The fact that they continued to put 2 diners at a 4 person table was not optimizing space. I couldn't believe at one point they sat a single person at a table for 4. As for the service, my table didn't even get our drinks until we had finished our meal. I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where I wasn't served water or tea first thing. The noodles were good. Unique. That's the only good thing I can say. I prefer the wontons at a different establishment. This is a famous restaurant from Hong Kong, Michelin recommended. They'd be appalled to know this franchise is running their reputation into the ground.

Amy W.

The noodle bounces in your mouth! Al dente wonton noodle. From service to seating gives you a warm sensation! The brisket is so tasty and soft. They have a choice between thick noodle and thin noodle. You can choose wonton, dumpling and the list goes on! Great addition to Markham! If you are lucky, you can see the work they put in using the bamboo to make the noodle! A unique technique only found at Kwan Kee!

Maria Y.

Handmade with bamboo pole technique - Served lukewarm, not hot enough - Quality is average - Dish came out too quickly, felt rushed - Presentation is plain - Price is fair but not impressive - Ingredients are minimal - Not planning to return - Reason for visit was ordinary - No long wait required - Only tried the noodles

Wayne C.

The best wontons I've ever had in North America. Big, juicy wontons with a whole shrimp wrapped together with pork. The soup is flavorful and comforting, without any MSG. The noodles are freshly made every day.

The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. I wanted to try Peking Duck and got clued into J&Y as one of the best options to try which did not disappoint. The Peking Duck was so tender, so flavorful and so wonderfully succulent. It was perfectly prepared and sliced with the fat rendered and thinly sliced. The wraps were not the monstrous steamed buns but traditional translucent wraps which are super thin, soft and pliable. Scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce completed each wrap which highlighted the duck. Definitely the best traditional Peking Duck preparation I've had in a very very long time. The remains of the duck were used for make a duck fried rice and duck soup, again both were amazing. It takes a certain skill to make fried rice cleanly without an excessive oily coating on each grain of rice. This was one of the best fried rices I've ever had! I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

The lid on my shredded potato salad wasn't on properly and the sauce leaked through my Fantuan bag. The food gets five stars. Sadly, the lid on my potato salad wasn't securely on the container. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey.
