Orders can be customized to be as healthy or greasy as you need that day ;) The falafel balls are the size of my fist, are crispy, and have a bulgar-type texture inside. The fries are straight heaven: crispy ends, mushy centers, greasy goodness. Rice and Israeli salad are on point: just enough spice to make you crave it / not something I can replicate at home. Delivery times vary from 45 min-1.5 hours. Their in-house system once crashed and didn't notify me and the food ultimately came 2.5 hours later, so be sure to check in with them if your wait seems long. read more

Delivery review: I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I've been living in the area for over three years and many times passed the restaurant without even thinking of checking it out. It took a craving of Israeli food for me to google places nearby to find out Kulushkat was what I had been looking for. We ordered the falafel platter, which came with a nice assortment of items (israeli salad, rice, cabbage salad, falafel, hummus and tahini) and the shawarma platter and a boureka. Everything we ate was delicious and filling. My only complaint is about the boureka, which honestly at $3.00 is insanely tiny and over priced. I'm used to palm sized boureka's and this one was the size of a mini appetizer. I will definitely order again just prob not the boureka. read more

Nice place with good people! Found it after a recommendation from my sister. We walked over, ordered and had a very nice chat with the staff while we waited. The food is not very good for the price ($11 for a small pita sandwich!) and the wait is bizarre. We went in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was half empty. Somehow our pita sandwich and Israeli salad took over 45 minutes to arrive. While we were there, three other tables up and left because they had not received food. I had the falafel plate and it was excellent! Very fresh and well flavored! The chicken is also very well seasoned! After eyeing the other meals, I was very happy with my order choice! The platters have the perfect balance. They come with humus, tahini, pita, Israeli salad, and rice. The food is 5 starts worthy! But the service is very slow! Our waitress was extremely polite but seemed as if she was over stretched. The food also took quite a while. I would certainly return for the food, but only when I had plenty of time to spare! I live in the neighborhood and have ordered from Kulushkat many times before, probably about 10 times total. We placed an order on Wednesday night that was delayed over 1 hour after the estimated delivery time (50-70 mins). In total, we waited 2 hours for the food to be delivered. The manager was rude, defensive, and dismissive when asked about the wait time. It's all about the customer service. If the manager had responded with kindness and respect, I would be returning, however, this wasn't the case. This restaurant just lost a repeat customer. Be careful what you wish for. Because you see, I wished for comfortable, lingering-worthy, non-claustrophobic seating at one of my favorite BK Falafel joints. A restroom, I figured, would be icing on the cake. Well, lo and behold, Kalushkat opened a second location that offers both. But I'll be damned if the Falafel hasn't lost something in the translation: To be fair, I ordered a Shawafel, aka a Falafel & Chicken Shawarma combo sandwich; not a regular Falafel. Anyway, it came with only two Falafel balls that were drowning in overly thin tahini sauce, so they were soggy. The Shawarma component was meh; not very well seasoned and none of those flavors really penetrated the meat. Plus the pita was on the dry side, as if bordering on stale. Hubby got an Eggplant Sandwich which he LOVED. We were told it's the most popular item on the menu. Kid went with the Israeli Salad with Warm Chickpeas & Boiled Egg. He scarfed it down, but Mama noticed the dressing looked really watery. The Boiled Egg also had a greenish-black ring around the yolk, so it wasn't cooked properly. (My pet peeve. What can I say?) Shout out to Eitan, the friendly and welcoming Manager. We really enjoyed chatting with you. Good luck getting that liquor license. Once you do, we'll probably stop back in. Falafel makes the people happy. It hasn't helped peace in the Middle East, but it does make me 10x happier to live in Lefferts Gardens. Exactly what the neighborhood has been missing! Especially when it's one of the best falafel sandwiches in NYC. The falafel balls have a lot of depth and a variety of flavors to them--can't tell if it's a little cardamon or what they are seasoned with exactly, but it's a unique and delicate flavor. It's also just the right amount of cabbage and the whole wheat pita always tastes fresh and rich. The eggplant a la yafa is also really good--garlicky and tender! There can be a bit of a wait (10min), and I've seen people walk out rather than wait, which is a shame, because they miss the aroma of their falafel being freshly prepared, unlike most other places. read more

I order takeaway - the falafel platter, falafel pita, grape leaves and schug (with was extra). While I waited I noticed few things that where mentioned in previous post: The person taking orders at the register/phone was fine - pleasant and answered questions. He did correct my pronunciations which was a little annoying. He went extra on how he pronounced hummus and falafel. I get it. The food is supposed to be authentic - we are also in Flatbush. I can't stop thinking about the Falafel!!! Everytime I walk by a falafel place I get a craving for Kulushkat. I don't walk into the other places, because I know it just won't be the same. This place just opened up in Lefferts Gardens and it's a gem of relief when wanting to find something healthy, really tasty and just a really cozy vibe in the neighborhood. It's very obvious from the second you walk in that just as much thought went into the decor and space of the restaurant as goes into the food. Very warm, welcoming, cozy, yet hip and on par with cool Brooklyn standards. Small, family run, everyone is super friendly and seemed to know many of their customers. Obviously they already have some regulars. Which I understand, as I can't stop craving the food! As someone who eats healthy and light most of the time, this is falafel that I can add into my routine. It's delicious and feels light and healthy still yet filling. The eggplant is also on my mind. I ordered from here via Uber Eats. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I got the falafel pita + seasoned fries. They were both good but nothing really stood out to me. It'd be nice if the fries came with the option for tzatziki or some sort of dip. The pita itself could have had a little more variety but overall it was a solid meal. I really don't understand the hype about this place. This just feels like another example of NY hipsters trying to bougie-fy and frou frou something that is delicious precisely because of its accessibility and comfort. I did a 3 for 15 mezze platter and was disappointed all around. The labneh is overwhelmed with za'atar, the bland, chalky hummus isn't any better than Sabra's (and Sabra's might actually be better), and the beef/lamb kabob's are overcooked, grainy in texture, lacking in flavor, and dry. As an aside, you would have no idea that this restaurant was in a predominately black/west indian neighborhood when you walk in. When I stopped by, every single person, staff and patron, was white. There are a few places in the neighborhood like this, and it just amazes me that no one inside these places seems to notice or care that, on top of gentrifying, they are self-segregating. I wanted to shoot myself when I noticed that the dork twiddling around on an electric guitar in the corner was the promised "Thursday Spanish Guitar" entertainment on the chalkboard. This place is really close to my house so I strolled In on a rainy day. I was the only one in there, but it was nicely decorated and the service was fast and attentive. The food itself was just great! You can't go wrong with any of the platters! The only downfall of it is that it's too expensive for me to order on the regular, so I can't say that I would be frequenting it. But definitely worth a try at least once. We rarely order take-out but whenever we need to do deliveries, Kulushkat is our favorite go-to place. We eat paleo so most of their items - especially Shawarma Plate - are on the safe list. Got the shawafel (chicken shawarma & falafel) pita delivered. It was quite good except it was a bit dry, there was barely any hummus or tahini in the pita which was disappointing since all the other mediterranean spots around here give lots of tahini in pitas/wraps. Chicken shawarma was decent but the falafel was really good. And whatever 'hot sauce' (fresh topping of chopped peppers/seeds) they add on is incredible. But what's this I hear about the owner/cooks being homophobic? That's really a shame and I hope it's not true, but if it is I'll have to keep looking for a regular falafel spot around here. read more

Ordered from here the other day and it's less than 1 mile from my house and took 2 hours to get here. When the food arrived, it was cold, the fries were soggy and my chicken shawarma was mainly just cabbage and barely had any rice. To top it off, I found 2 hairs in my food! I called the restaurant and they denied it was possible that hair was in my food! How disgusting! If a customer says they found something in their food how are you asking them to send you a picture of the hair as if you could even see that. Gross as fuck and rude manager who was just argumentative and dismissive.
