Outdoor seating

(This rating is based on what I tried and not a reflection of the entire menu!) The service was great and I love the little seating area. I was just getting a few things to taste. I tried the mint lemonade which was refreshing and tasted freshly squeezed. I also tried the falafels but didn't enjoy it that much. The star of the show to me were the fries it was Excellent and you should definitely try! There are many different modifications for gluten free eaters but no gluten free pita. I hope that they can have that option soon so I can try a little more on the menu. I hope I can update this review soon when I am able to taste more on the menu.

This is the falafel plate. It was delicious. It had rice, falafels, hummus, whole wheat pita, red cabbage and tahini.

The service is always great. I love their hummus and I usually get that to go but tonight I treated myself to the falafel plate. It was delicious. It's my go to spot and I'm all about supporting neighborhood establishments.

$20 Beef and Lamb Kebab Platter and $17 Chicken Shawarma Plate

Don't get why this place has such high reviews. I was fooled by them. This is an unassuming hole in a wall establishment. No indoor dining. Mostly take out. Only a few tiny wooden folding tables and chairs available for outdoor dining. On a random Tuesday evening, this place had tons of customers. Only one bathroom, for which you have to wait at least 10 minutes. If you don't have a mask, you're out of luck--you won't be allowed into the bathroom. Service was nonexistent. We had to ask and wait for tap water five times. Only one waiter who looked like he was close to murdering everyone was on duty. Such intense, heavy countenance. Not a smile or a relaxed facial muscle could be caught all evening. So tense and unwelcoming. $20 Beef and Lamb Kebab Platter and $17 Chicken Shawarma Plate were standard fare. Served on plastic plates with plastic utensils, this left more to be desired. Not a place I'd return to again.

Ordering from Kulushat has become a weekly ritual. I place the order on my phone while waiting for my train after work, then swing by the restaurant 35 mins later on the walk back home. Comfort food on tough days. I'm a sucker for the classic falafel pita (can be ordered as a plate) but I find myself ordering the eggplant a la yafa pita more often. Comes in white or wheat pita. Other vegan options on their menu include the cauliflower pita, stuffed grape leaves, marinated beets salad, lentil soup, and rugggelakh (for dessert). Shout out to Damian (sp) and the rest of the crew who always take care of me. This is a cool neighborhood spot.

I wanted to try something different from what I usually order out for delivery. This hit the spot. Stuffed grape leaves were nice and fresh. The beet salad was also fresh and tasted good as well. Loved the humus and tahini sauce, which added a nice flavor to the chicken swarma plate. Only criticism is there wasn't enough rice. However, food is very tasty, and I would reorder these food items again.

Took my kid here to eat and chat! Can I tell you how we barely spoke and barely breathed, lol. The food was so good we chomped in total silence out side of, pass me this or let me try that. Service was amazing! No indoor seating... Outdoor seating is greeting and comfortable. We enjoyed our meal and experience Very Much! Ohhh and if you're into spice, you HAVE TOO ask for house sauce... it's freaking amazing P.S. Had falafel appetizer DELICIOUS, gobbled it up before I even thought to take pictures... it just smelled so good when it hit the table. It never stood a chance. Lololol!!! Sad to see these folks closed their shop by Barclays Center but happy that the PLG location is thriving. Met up with a friend for lunch on a Friday. We arrived at opening. He lives in the neighborhood but never noticed this place. Well now he will! Ordered the chicken shawarma pita and he got the lamb kebab pita. No need for anything else. Except for maybe a few beers to wash it down. My only gripe is that there is no in-person ordering. Even if you are eating on their sidewalk tables or hut on the street, you have to place your order through their website. Usually takes 20-30 minutes so I recommend planning ahead and ordering before you get there if you're feeling hangry.

Holy moly! This place is terrific! I consider myself a falafel (and hummus!) connoisseur and until Mamoun's opens a Brooklyn spot (seriously Hoboken gets a Mamoun's location and we don't?!) this will be my go to. I've tried the falafel in a sandwich (great, fresh pita) and a platter and it's delicious! Crispy, light, and very well seasoned. Their hummus is also delicious and the platter is giant and very reasonably priced! I can't wait to try more of the menu!

Good food but too expensive. If you get only a sandwich it's still a lot. Kulushkat has some pretty authentic stuff. A lot of great vegan choices. The falafel is the best thing. Around Lefferts Gardens there aren't too many places for Middle Eastern food. It has a lot of fast food chains, but there's a few locally owned restaurants. This is one of the best places in the area for vegetarians. Like many Middle Eastern places, there's choices like falafel, grape leaves, and hummus. The dining area is small and there's only a few tables. I came in the last time with my hot woman friend. We were greeted by the friendly owner. Both of us felt like having falafel. I got the falafel pita. She had the same thing because she knows I pick good shit. It's about $10 for only a pita. This comes with cabbage and a very good tahini. It was good but it wasn't much. To add fries with it would have been a few bucks more. It already was too expensive. They also have some more expensive platters. I like the food here. It's just too expensive for the portion. That's why I've only been here a few times.

Falafel pita and red cabbage and eggplant

This is just based on the falafel pita which was just okay. The pita was dry /cold and the falafel balls were decent. The flavor profile is one note plus a little taste of cilantro. If going for falafel only, I'd recommend Falafel tanami in midwood which tastes closest to what you'd get abroad.

Phil H.

Some of the best falafel I have had in NYC! After a recent 5K running event in Prospect Park on a sweltering humid night I just wanted somewhere to eat dinner in some cool AC. Walking around we found Kulushkat which means "shut up and eat". Being that this small joint offered up some delicious Middle Eastern food we did just that! Tasty food and friendly service. Large portions. Prices that won't break the bank. Vegan options of course. It's a tiny spot with a few tables. Clean. The falafel here is delish! The falafel platter for $10.95 is so good! Your choice of one falafel flavor, Israeli salad, red cabbage salad, rice, hummus, tahini and warm fluffy pita. You can't go wrong with this choice. I'll run back here the next time I'm in the area!

Mediterranean Feast and Falafel Platter
Rachael M.

Delicious and fast take out, no contact. The Mediterranean feast and Falafel platter were definitely enough for two of us to share, with leftovers. They both came with pita (I like that they offer both white and whole wheat), hummus, and tahini. The food was absolutely delicious and the hummus clearly super fresh. We thought the Mediterranean feast was a bit pricy but still very good.

Julia K.

Excellent place to get delicious Middle Eastern food. My friend ordered the hummus with vegetables and falafel which he enjoy very much. The pita bread with chicken shawarma was delicious, and the seasoned fries had a wonderful spice level, which the tahini sauce nicely complimented. The service is very friendly and fast, only the issues with the door not closing properly by itself can be annoying in the cold weather when eating in.

I highly recommend getting an assortment of dips and small plates - 2-3 dishes per person was just right for us. They make a really good Falafel here, and the Crispy Cauliflower were perfectly crispy and well-sauced. The Chocolate Babka dessert is a great way to end your meal, and they do make a solid espresso martini for those wondering. The only thing I was not a fan of is their drink menu - all of the cocktails are spicy or smoky. Although you can sub out different alcohols, it would be nice to have a few other options.

It was the perfect amount of food for us without feeling too full. My favorites were the hiramasa, chefs fish special and corn ribs. All the dishes here are so unique and well made. Service was incredibly warm, and our waiter gave helpful recs when navigating the wine menu, which featured mostly wines from Lebanon. For 2, we got: - baba ghannouj - muhammara - dips come with fresh, fluffy, warm pita - batata hara (crispy, spicy fried potatoes with garlic) - heirloom tomato (with garlic toum and sunflower seeds) - octopus - lamb chops Everything was delicious and extremely flavorful! The heirloom tomatoes were a standout dish: fresh, packed tons of flavor, and I loved how everything went together. The waiter mentioned they're seasonal and will be swapped out for something for the fall season soon. Dips and potatoes were excellent. Octopus was the one weaker spot. The skewer was a bit small and the preparation left the meat a little lackluster and chewy (I'm picky with my octopus!) The lamb chops were very tender with tons of flavor - char, mint, meat. A bit heavy but might just be because I don't eat a ton of red meat. I was VERY full by the end of the meal! I think we could have done 1-2 fewer dishes and still been very satisfied, but I'm glad I got to try so many things. The mains took a while to come out, though I enjoyed the longer, non-rushed, 'let's chat over delicious bites for hours' feeling of the meal overall. Great dining experience. The bill came to about ~$100 per person for the above + a drink (one wine, one mocktail) each. Between the fantastic ambiance, service, and high quality flavors, I found it to be worth the price and great for a treat yourself outing, date, or special occasion.

We each ordered our main, after which they bring out an enormous tray of all these lovely nibble salads, pickles, dips, and pita. I don't eat wheat, and haven't my entire life, so I usually don't say anything about it if it seems to me the place doesn't cater to that sort of restriction. The server noticed however, and offered sliced cucumbers for the dips. Such a lovely detail, brava. Did I mention how deeeeeeeelicious everything was? Hubby had the steak shishlika which was perfectly tender and charred at once. I had the chicken shishlika which was good, but not the wow of the steak. Each and every salad, dip, pickle etc was perfectly spiced, cooked, presented. The nuances were just right. Nothing too precious or sideways. Just honest, well built yummy food. And the fries. You MUST get the fries. We ordered the tahini ranch along with the tahini catsup. In my opinion, that wasn't necessary. But if you're a ranch lover, go for it. Then the dessert! Soft serve with a cherry reduction and some kind of flourless chocolate brownie... I don't need to say more. The service was excellent. The food delicious. The view was perfect, though no one celebrated the sun going down like I was told they do. We will go back, with four or more so we can finish all the food. This was very good, and we tackled it with zest, devouring it with the accompanying pita bread. We also ordered the falafel, chicken shawarma platter and beef kebab platter. The chicken shawarma was decent, but I would have loved more chicken and bigger pieces. There was considerably more rice than chicken, which made the platter feel a little unbalanced. The beef kebab was better, with a good portion of meat and rice, and the accompanying vegetables weren't too bad either. One disappointment for me was the lack of a proper hot sauce. Something with a little heat and flavor would have paired really well with both the shawarma and kebab and, for me, would have elevated the meal.
