Updated: stay away, long hair in food! The ppl that work there mostly have long/shaggy hair and no one wears a hair net. I ordered some food through an app (grape leaves and falafel pita) to find a long reddish hair packaged with my grape leaves. DO NOT GO HERE! NOT A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. How hair is in a clear package with individually wrapped grape leaves does not make sense to me. I cook with my Afro out and hair doesn't make it in my food. They need everyone to wear hair nets, especially if they are shedding. The food here is decent when done right. This is the fourth, maybe fifth time that I've ordered well-done/crispy seasoned fries with my order and they're damn near raw. Like, not even cooked all the way through. The thing about this place is when you order take-out they fold and staple the bag which is ultimately what deterred me from checking to see if the order was right. The customer service is mediocre whenever there's a male cashing. The red-haired woman is the best customer service I've ever received and I've been coming here for at least a year; she will always give you grade a customer service. While I'm leaving a review, their pita portions are extremely inconsistent. Before, I noticed they were only full when I didn't order with a coupon. Now they are mostly skimpy and decent once in a while. Please check your order when getting take-out! They use that as an excuse to mess up. I will post a pic of a fry broken in half to show how not crispy and not seasoned this is. It's a shame that ppl who spend money (that work there) can't appreciate or respect the fact that someone's money is being spent to get a specific and quality product. Again, I'm only writing this review because it seems to happen all the time. Kulushkat needs to get their restaurant together. I will try to put a review every time my order is messed up and I don't get a chance to check it. Hopefully they will do better because I do enjoy the food here (when made properl read more

Kulushkat - Grilled chicken, Salad Sampler, spicy fries - Mediterranean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Healthy meets comfort food at Kulushkät (which means "Shut Up & Eat!"). They make it easy whether your vegan, vegetarian or enjoy meat and good food. This is straight up Middle Eastern fare at its simple finest. The falafel cooked to gluten free perfection, tahini dressing that bursts with flavor, yet not overwhelming and soft fluffy pita (in wheat or white varieties). We opted for the falafel platter and the sandwich. They both come with red cabbage and tahini. The platter also comes with rice, a creamy hummus and light tomato, cucumber & onion "Israeli salad". I had some food envy when I tried my wife's sandwich because the tahini sauce and the warmth of the bread and tangy crunch of the red cabbage was a better experience than eating them separately. So I just made my own falafel sandwich and problem solved! This falafel is exceptional! Crunchy yet soft in the middle- hearty but not heavy. The rice didn't have the flavor I was looking for (maybe so as not to compete with everything else?) but the red cabbage was really good! I also enjoyed the stuffed grape leaves! The rugelakh was a sweet ending to the meal but it was too moist (probably from delivery). When we have a falafel jones and aren't making it ourselves, we know where to go! And when we get the food, we know what to do ... "shut up and eat!". read more

Good chicken shawarma sandwich. We stopped in for a late night bite. They make their shawarma sandwich with cabbage salad and hummus. The sandwich was ready quickly. read more

Fantastic mediterranean food! We had no idea what to get for dinner after going to the prospect park zoo with the kids. We got the mediterranean feast (falafel is moist, flavorful - probably one of the top 3 I've had in NYC, slaw with beets really refreshing (even my husband ate it and he hates beets!) And the chicken shawarma plate (chicken with great flavor, not too dry, but the rice was scant and too wet). We also got seasoned fries which was a little too spicy for the toddler but we were fine with it. They missed my baklava but got a refund without issue. Toddler approved! We will be back! read more

The manager is a jerk. Not only would he not let a masked 8-month pregnant woman use the bathroom., he was incredibly rude. Do not recommend. read more

Very delicious food! The falafel is herbaceous and tasty. I always get beet salad :)

The food is terrific! The portions are more than generous. Friendly service and fair prices.

Came in here for lunch and the staff was extremely friendly and the ambiance/decor is very nice (love the deep purple plates). I hate to only give three stars, but I'm on the fence about a couple things. Ordered the Mediterranean Platter ($16) with extra falafel ($2) to share (perfect amount of food for two people). Here's the run down: Pros: -Deeeelicious red cabbage salad, with a tiny bit of spice -Nice hummus with super tasty olive oil & a few whole chickpeas on top -Beet salad tasted super fresh & delicious -Stuffed grape leaves were very good Cons: -Falafel, though it had interesting texture, was a bit too small which meant that the majority of a bite was the fried outside, which made it too oily/greasy -Cucumber salad was a bit tasteless -We ordered one whole wheat pita and one white bread pita and the latter didn't taste especially fresh (not my fav bread, overall) -Bathroom was dirty and sink was broken (next to a sign that reads "employees must wash hands"). Doesn't make me feel suuuper great about food prep at this place ((eewwwww!)) read more

How bad service can kill a restaurant and a long awaited reunion 101: Lessons taken by Kulushkat. The food was strictly average and honestly by the time it came we were so done. We easily waited 45+ mins for anything to show up. The table behind us got seated and had their dinner served in between our wait!! After enquiring twice did they bring out two out of the three dishes we ordered. We waited five more minutes for the third one to arrive - only to find a side missing. Tried to catch the server's eye and eventually gave up. Walked over to ask for the side and was given a side eye before being handed the dish! Even getting plain tap water was an arduous task for these guys. Never coming back! read more

The wait is way too long. The falafel is soft, not crispy, its soggy, its a real medioker to bad sandwich. Its bland. And its way to expensive. Too bad there is not a better falafel store in our neighborhood. read more

30 minutes after ordering they said they're too busy and it might be an hour for delivery. Not acceptable for a 12$ falafel. I could go to Mamouns and get a great Falafel quicker for half the price. Don't try. read more

Kulushkat is my second favorite falafel spot. I used to frequent the one in Prospect Heights but now that they opened a location in Prospect Lefferts Gardens (closer to home) I am so much happier. I'm on a mission to find the best shakshuka in NYC and so far Kulushkats shakshuka has made my top 10. This morning I ordered the Shakshuka and Israeli breakfast. I love that the shakshooka is spicy and the eggs are runny. The israeli breakfast had 2 really good potato bourekas, with some babaganoosh, israeli salad and hard boiled eggs. I ordered the items to go and they packed them up really neatly and easy to transport. The decor is lovely and refreshing. And the service is top notch. They welcome you with a friendly smile and awesome customer service. read more

This has been my local go-to when I'm craving some meat free fare. I've had good experiences each time and really like their platters. I've had both the falafel and chicken platters. I always get the hibiscus tea as well. Delivery was on time as well. Would recommend! read more

Delicious falafel! This is the perfect spot to grab lunch with a friend or cozy up with a book. Their interior is super inviting and the service is spot on. I'm a big sucker for toppings so I was really happy with the fresh selection of cabbage, eggplant, hummus, and tahini. The lunch special is worth the upgrade if you're in the mood for some crispy fries, but the pita is filling on its own. Kulushkat has definitely earned a spot on my rotation of lunch spots. read more

Really delicious falafels and hummus. Also their pita bread is one of the best and always fresh! Their stuffed grape leaves (dolma) are sub par but is not enough to remove a star from my review! read more

Love this place. The pita is outstanding, the mezze super fresh and flavorful, and the falafel crispy and delicious.

This PLG spot is one of our go to's for date night delivery. Tasty Middle Eastern dishes, generously sized.

I traveled to Israel multiple times, and when I came in there I was looking for a similar experience, I was sadly disappointed. I had a falafel sandwich (dry), and eggplant ala Yafa (not even close) appetizer. The Falafel sandwich was average, I feel like the falafel balls were a little overcooked and dry, the red cabbage topping was to sweet for my taste., The rest of toppings were average. I was very disappointed in the eggplant, it was very bitter, and I could not finish, had to throw it out. Overall I don't think I would come back, I spent 20 dollars on an order and threw out more then half. The owner seems like a good guy hopefully he improves read more

This place is surprisingly mediocre. I Came in wanting to love it but felt disappointed after my meal. The portions were small and not the best value for the price! Kulushkat - Lunch special-- falafel plate and chicken pita. Total for $22! (They say safe tips for Whiskey!) - Mediterranean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I was extremely pleased by the service, the food and the education I received when I visited Kulushkat. I have never tried shawarma or falafel before... who eats chick peas anyway? The owner patiently explained everything to me and took the time to give me a couple small samples. This restaurant prepares everything there from fresh ingredients, I really appreciate that because it enables people with dietary limitations to know what ingredients are in a meal. If you are like I was, (a hold out) not sampling this type of food because you were unsure about ingredients, I recommend you stop in here. Explain the specifics of your food sensitivities and you will receive a custom tailored meal that you can relax and enjoy without any concerns. To answer my earlier question. Who Eats Chick Peas? I guess the answer now is... me! read more

Kulushkat - Sharma was excellent.. falafel really yummy and the meal in general was a treat. - Mediterranean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Really good food! The baklava was some of the best I've had but on the sweeter side. I did feel flavor was a taddd bit bland but best ingredients in the area . The plates are a good sized and could last 2 meals. Order directly from the restaurant if you can They have an app! read more

Kulushkat - Menu as of 1/15/16 - Mediterranean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I love this place, come here often as it's in the neighborhood. I've mostly had the vegetarian falafel platter, and it's solid. It comes with 5 falafel, rice, a red cabbage side, Jerusalem salad, a side of hummus, pita bread, and tahini to douse the food in. It's a lot of food, so I'm usually happy to share or save for leftovers! And for the price, the amount of food you get is pretty amazing. I've also had the lentil soup here and it was kind of a disappointment. It just wasn't that tasty and felt very watered down. The baklava is good, though! The guys who work here are super sweet and will take care of ya! Check this place out. read more

The people are friendly and the restaurant has a crunchy organic vibe. There are no tables -- just stools next to a bar that runs around the perimeter of this small store. When we walked in we were greeted warmly. They were playing bachata, which I thought was a little strange, but I like bachata, so that was cool. The falafel sandwiches are good, but there were a few things that prevented me from fully enjoying them, and falafel is one of my most favorite foods. First, I love purple cabbage, but there was simply too much of it. The purple cabbage overpowered the sandwich, ruining the delicate flavors of tahini and falafel. Secondly, the purple cabbage was cooked with caraway seeds. I hate caraway seeds. Why do they do that? I've never heard of caraway seeds on a falafel sandwich before! The falafels themselves were delectable and the tahini was wonderful. I've had falafel sandwiches that I've liked better, but these were OK, hence, the 3 star rating "A-OK". read more

Good Israeli food in a super convenient location! Their falafel balls do fall apart very easily so it's better to eat in a pita. The platter was very large and filling. The vibe in the restaurant is very casual and comfortable. I would definitely go back! read more

Wow this place is amazing . I've been craving their falafel since I left that fine establishment a month ago . This place is a must if you're chilling around prospect park . Food is amazing and very reasonably priced . Hummus is great as well . Overall great restaurant with a nice vibe read more

The Israeli sitting next to me said that it was "pretty damn good"so who am I to argue with an expert? Ordered a chicken schwarma with rice for lunch and the portion was huge. I couldn't finish it. Chicken was tender and flavorful and the hummus and tahini was delicious. My only complaint was I wish they would include more cabbage and salad instead of so much rice but reasonable minds might disagree. Either way, a great lunch. read more

A 10min walk from the Prospect Park Zoo and Botanic Gardens. The food here is absolutely delicious. We got the Mediterranean feast with an extra order of pita as a late lunch. It was enough for two people and you might not even need the extra pita. The falafel are beyond tasty, crispy, but not oily. The beets were very good, the israeli salad was as expected and the grape leaves and hummus were divine. The cabbage was good as well, but was not as flavorful as the other items on the plate. It is a small restaurant with one very small bathroom, but the service is friendly and food is well worth it. read more

Kulushkat: superb za'atar labneh, to-die-for marinated eggplant, yummy stuffed grape leaves. A great middle eastern spot in PLG!

My husband and I each got a falafel pita sandwich. We both really liked it. The falafel was really good; I just wish I had tasted some tzaziki sauce on it. Not sure if the sandwiches come with any, but they should! We also got a side of fries which we didn't end up eating because they were too soft and potatoe-y. I only like crunchy fries. read more

Let me start by saying that the food was good.... HOWEVER everything else about this place was awful. I ordered a salad sampler and was never told that they were out of an item, it wasn't until I asked the waitress for the menu that I confirmed my suspicions that an item was missing. When I asked about the missing tabouleh I was told by Marie that they were out and Marie did not bother to inform me until after I ask. She said that they gave a few extra pieces of Israeli Salad I told the waitress that she should have noticed me then and given options. Marie said that it is not there policy to notify customers of menu change. Like seriously! Also my Israeli Salad was not an actual Israeli Salad but a simple sad Shepard Salad. The drinks are awful too I got the Ice Tea Lemonana it was not drinkable my sisters Lemonana was far better but still not good. Also our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive. It's a shame the chicken shawarma was really good. It's the service and menu changes without notice that is unacceptable. Also Marie spent the whole time while we were eating staring at us which made me very very very uncomfortable. Who wants a random stranger staring at you while eat. This was my first time and you better believe it will be my last time here. read more

Yum, yum! Kulushkat serves the best falafel pita that I've had in New York City. The pita sandwich was packed full with falafels, red cabbage, hummus, and tahini. The falafels were large, flavorful, and moist. I love the contrast between the crunchy cool red cabbage, warm falafel, and soft pita bread. They offer a lunch special where for a little bit more you can get fries or a salad (get seasoned fries). No ketchup, but the tahini makes a cool dip. I also like to order the half tea/half lemonada. I'm always stuffed when I leave Kulushkat. The service is friendly and prompt. Great restaurant in PLG. read more
