Their combos are particularly impressive, they have either lunch combos Monday through Friday before 230 that are around $15 for entree, soup (hot and sour or wonton), egg roll, and fries rice or chow mein. Watching K-dramas and variety shows always makes me crave Jajangmyeon and JJamppong. But such items are very hard to find in the Union City/Fremont/Newark area. Therefore, I'm glad that we made the impulsive drive to this place in Milpitas. This place is a keeper, a hidden gem in Milpitas. At first glance, would say that this place's food reminds me exactly of Koryo Jajang in Oakland except the menu here is quite diverse. Compared to Koryo, they have a lot more offerings of Chinese dishes such as Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Honey Walnut Prawns, Cashew Chicken, etc. Ordering process for takeout was straightforward. Their updates are quite accurate, highly appreciated. Seafood Noodle Soup and Jajangmyeon: 5/5 stars Got the Seafood Noodle Soup (with no spice) and Jajangmyeon and I was thoroughly impressed. The Seafood Noodle Soup was huge, had generous amounts of seafood and noodles in it, and the broth tasted very clean. Didn't detect any traces of MSG in it. Only complaint was that the noodles were clumped in together; literally molded together into the shape of the box. Jajangmyeon was also solid. Black bean sauce was abundant and noodles were cooked perfectly. They also provided the yellow radish, kimchi, and onions as sides. Complemented the dish very well. A lot of people have recommended the black bean noodles and I was intrigued when I saw it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations. I was really let down because the noodles were a great texture and consistency. The flavor was bland and super forgettable. The fried chicken wings though- the name says dry fried, but they were not even close to dry. The sauce and the skin were both crunchy from the frying but also sticky from the sauce. It was a delicious masterpiece. The only downside to this dish was the accompanying veggies. Rarely you will see peas and carrots in Chinese dishes unless it's Americanized. I would've expected jalapenos and onions so it was kind of weird. The sauce left over actually enhanced the flavor of the black bean noodle quite a bit tho. The string beans could've been crunchier, but it was still decent in garlic and chili flavor. Complimentary kimchi and radish were a dish addition. Service was decent and fast. Serving sizes are quite generous and the prices here are cheap. Parking not too bad in this plaza either so no need to worry. read more

I've come to realize, I love food so much in general that maybe I'm not as picky as can be lol. With that said, I've never been to San Tung. Yet. Because every time that I've stopped by, the line has been fairly long (at least 5 parties- both at the express whatever version and the full restaurant) and I've been hungry. I'll wait for good food.. but not when I'm starving. Plus, that'll be reviewed once I finally eat there. But back to Koong's! We got there at noon the day before Father's Day this weekend and there wasn't a wait at all! There were maybe four other parties already eating. But when we paid and left, the place was more than half full. They can definitely fit more tables, but I like the spaciousness of the place. Especially since it's a very family friendly restaurant and people wheel in their strollers/wheelchairs. So in case you're wondering, the owners speak Mandarin (and are therefore Chinese). But this also tells you not to order the wonton noodle soup. It won't be Hong Kong style (Cantonese) and have the thin egg noodles. They use these pancit width noodles that are too starchy and heavy. They also throw in some mushroom, broccoli and a few other things that don't belong in a wonton noodle soup. This is just my personal bias- Vietnamese style wonton noodle soup is pretty much identical to Cantonese so- that's my barometer FYI. But still- come for the dry fried chicken wings and the wontons in spicy sauce! They're Sichuan style, so the spiciness builds up if you're a usual non spicy food eater (i.e. me). But the wings aren't really spicy at all. They're flavorful and the crispiness on the outside is perfection. Not sure why they serve Korean food too? Maybe they just like to cook it or want to cater to more people. I didn't try anything Korean, so I can't address that concern. It seems like it's good to stick to the apps, or anything primarily mainland Chinese based! Or just order what I did because duh. read more

We ordered the Salt and Pepper Fish, Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Chow Mein, Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken. My fave dish was the Salt and Pepper Fish. It was flavored nicely and the fish was cooked just right. The Chicken Fried Rice and Beef Chow Mein were tasty and they packed a lot into the containers. The Mongolian Beef was tender and flavorful and the Orange Chicken was OK. I would have preferred a bit more flavor for my liking. Went here with friends after a warm day at Levi Stadium to see the 49ers play. They may have lost, but the food here was definitely a win.

The kitchen was unbelievably filthy. I glanced into the kitchen as I headed to the restroom (the floor so dirty that you don't even want to imagine) and was shocked. We discovered hairpieces in one of our dishes. We will definitely never return to this restaurant. The servers were incredibly impolite, and one opened his wallet in front of us and attempted to bribe us not to leave a review of our dining experience. We were disgusted by his action. Koong's is located in Milpitas. I had not been here in quite a long time. When I got there, the restaurant was busy and full. The staff were nice and helpful as I got a table. I recognized an elderly couple who ate there regularly. Good to know the place has repeat guests. I ordered the Dry Fried Chicken Wings and Sautéed String Beans with Dry Chili. As appetizers, I received Kimchi and Daikon. The String Beans came out first -- they weren't too spicy as you could taste the Garlic. Then came the Chicken Wings -- they were spicy and delicious. The place was full the entire time I was there. The turnaround was quick to get guests seated. I'll be back to try out other items on their menu. read more

It's not easy finding a good Korean style chinese restaurant in NorCal. And I heard some good things about this place from a friend so i went to check it out. YANG ZHANG PI - sooo goooood. Not as good as it is in Korea but very very good for what you can get around the bay. Totally recommend it! $14 for seafood noodle with mustard sauce. ZA ZANG MYUN - Not so good. Maybe they use less MSG than other places? It was just salty and not tasty at all. I totally regretted getting this instead of ZZAMPPONG. TANG SOO YOOK - Fried pork!! with sweet sauce!! This was super good too. Better finished at the restaurant because it will get soggy if you take it home. Totally recommend this if you like meat. They also have beef version. Their interior was cute with all these chinese decorations and soju bottles lined up at their little stand up bar. There is plenty of parking available so no need to worry about that. They have two gender neutral bathrooms behind the kitchen. read more

Im not sure whats goin on with the prices or the taxes, but I ordered two dishes to go and it came out to $21.97 after tax so pretax means it was like $20...but on the menu the wings were $7.99 and the braised tofu dish was like $10 making $18 so it really doesnt add up...this is the 2nd time this has happened to me (at a diff restaurant) where shit just doesnt add up and I didnt get an itemized receipt so it is what it is...just wanted ppl to take note of not only this place but other places as well... Food: Fried Chicken Wings- Listen to the yelpers on this one...this is really good! It could have a lil more crisp but otherwise its well done and the wings are juicy. The sauce is really great too. Braised Tofu- Mmm pretty much what you would expect out of this dish. Not spectacular but def exactly what I wanted. It was well done and made correctly. I passed by this place numerous times, because I've been a San Jose/Milpitas resident all of my life. However, I've always grown curious of this place every time I was in the Calaveras area and I shop near the CVS and Marina Asian Market here on a frequents basis. So one day, me and partner come in here for a bite to eat, since I've been wanting to try a different place then our usual go to for Chinese cuisine. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant aside from a few patrons and a few grabbing to-go orders. We were immediately seated and given our menus. They also give you the option from ordering digitally using the QR codes on each table for also easy service. I ordered the won ton soup, as I do traditionally in most Chinese restaurants and also ordered the "jajangmyeon(black bean noodles)." I was surprised to see a Korean item on the menu, so I went with that for now. My partner ended up ordering the orange chicken and pork chow mein. Let me start off by saying how delicious the food truly was and I'm bewildered to why I haven't come here sooner than I thought. The orange chicken especially was delicious and I appreciate the higher meat ratio to breading that made the eating experience more pleasant. This is funny since its usually a dish I don't usually bother to order sometimes, since I try to broaden my tastes when ordering at a restaurant. I was also surprised how moist the chicken meat was as well. The pork chow mein was also really good and much more flavorful than anticipated. The won ton soup was just seasoned right and it wasn't too salty. As far as service goes, the waitresses and waiter working here have all been hospitable and attentive. I ended up coming here the second time after our first visit for lunch and also had a nice chat with the owner, I think? I didn't realize that this place was family owned and I always try to give smaller businesses more attention. I had the mapo tofu lunch special this time, and it was also super delicious! I'm always so nitpicky how this dish was prepared, because sometimes the spice level isn't right or the sometimes the flavor is weird. However, the mapo tofu had the nice numbing spice sensation, which this dish is usually known for, so I was super pleased with my meal!!! I wish that the black bean sauce would have had more flavor. The fried chicken was very good. The outside was crispy while the coating of the chicken was very saucy. There was an infuse of spiciness and sweetness in the sauce. But i think if you do not eat this right away, the chicken will become very mushy.
