Crazy busy, which tells me they are popular. I got right in with no wait and sat at the bar, which was surprisingly comfortable. I had the salmon lover's special (I don't have room for AYCE), and one serving of unagi sashimi. The salmon was very good and the unagi was the best I've had in Tucson! Decided to try this place. Appetizers were excellent as they are hot and fresh with good sauce. The sushi on the other hand is ok , but not worth the hype. All the items I ordered with the shrimp tempura was cold, seems like the shrimp is battered and dried ahead of time and just used throughout the day if a roll calls for shrimp tempura. Other place fry this fresh and add it to the rolls. That's what I was expecting. The California roll was good, except the crab was on the outside. Something I wasn't expecting, the hibachi items were good. But the things that stuck out were the appetizers. Was it worth $25-30 per person. Eh! Maybe if they shrimp was cooked to order and similar to what we were expecting. I will return in a couple weeks to see if this was just an off day or what, but it was ok . Would I drool to go back, no. But they're newly open so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Took almost an hour for a table, asked if we can sit outside and the said no since it was going to rain.. with no cloud in sight,didn't get plates, a pen or any assistance after we sat. We did the all you can eat, took almost 35 mins to get our first round of rolls. Still missing our Vegas rolls and Rangoons . Did a second order, again took another 30 minutes for our second order which was only two rolls, we someone how ended up with four rolls so we had to let the server know we we weren't charged for not eating what we didn't order, never received our Vegas rolls or second order of Rangoon's. Ended up just cancelling the Vegas rolls and Rangoons and paying. Should not take almost three for some sushi. After we left the patio was opened and full of people. read more

Sushi was great but service wasn't the best. The host was super friendly but our server came by 1 time and when we reordered and asked for refills they never showed up. worst sushi experience i have ever had. we had the absolute worst service. our waitress stopped by our table maybe 3 times in 2 hours. finally when we had been waiting 30minutes to pay and she had not come back, we stood up and asked another waitress to help cash us out. we explained to her how awful it was and she didn't do anything about it. just sort of shrugged her shoulders. 18% autograt for what? we recieved no service worthy of 18%. sushi meat was ok. very thin sliced which is upsetting but i guess expected for all you can eat. they need to fire alllll the servers and redo it, they all suck!!! read more

Visited for the first time yesterday and it was an enjoyable experience! Because this place is new the hype and lines are definitely going to be long so I would suggest going when they open to avoid waits longer than 45 minutes to an 1 hour. The food is definitely worth the wait and the AYCE options are amazing and offer something for everyone! Definitely bring at least 3-4 people to get more bang for your buck. The overall vibe of the restaurant was laid back and relaxing and the restaurant itself was decorated very well. The server took a little longer than usual but again it's super busy so it's to be expected. Will definitely be back with friends! read more

Sushi was fresh and portions were on the smaller side which means you can re order more with AYCE or try all the different options before getting completely full. The service was terrible. Filled waters once as we waved down the waiter. Food took over 1hr as we sat there with our empty plates. The staff ate canes and churches chicken in the middle of service in the dining room. Little to say but unprofessional and overall a waste of time. Brand new place, so a wait was normal for us. We came around 6:30pm got sat at 7:30. It was honestly worth the wait. We had some great food. We had 5 rolls & all you can eat menu. Onion soup was perfect & so was the miso. We got the steak hibachi & it was cooked to perfection. We also got another order of the steak & shrimp hibachi, and that too was really good. Huge portions for 31.99 per person! Honestly will be back no matter if there's a wait time. The manager on duty is very nice & made us feel so welcomed. The restaurant is really clean as well. I was really looking forward to trying Kintaro, but the experience was extremely disappointing. We waited over an hour to be seated, and the staff at the entrance seemed annoyed and uninterested from the moment we arrived. Their attitude made the long wait even worse. After standing there for so long with no clear updates and such poor customer service, we decided it was best to leave. There are plenty of restaurants that value their customers -- unfortunately, Kintaro clearly doesn't. I won't be coming back. read more

I loved the family atmosphere. We ended up there by chance as our original restaurant was too crowded. Once we walked in, everything was authentic. Our server was smart too, she knew how to accommodate our family's different dietary needs. For us, this spot turned out much more than we expected. Opened less than 5 months ago as of 3/2026 and the place is bustling with authentic, cozy, classy vibes, great and reasonably priced sushi, they gave us a complimentary extra miso, and have a lunch and a dinner all you can eat special, a rare find for a high quality restaurant AND for a great price. We came in the day before Christmas Eve and everything was AMAZING! Our name went on the waiting list around 5:30, and we were sat roughly 45 minutes later. One of the owners, Thao, ran through the menu with us and gave his advice on how to get our money's worth for all you can eat. Our server Grace kept our drinks full and had a welcoming and fun vibe. We have a small dog that we take with us. She is good. They welcomed her on the patio and we had a late lunch. We were unfamiliar with the program, which is a flat rate, all you can eat. You can't take home food, so we understand that. The server was very nice and patient. I had the Hiabachi Shrimp with the rice and then the Shrimp Terriyaki. I liked the grilled, better. You are given rice once, so just so you know. I would try to order everything together. My husband had Terriyaki Chicken and we both split a tuna roll. Everything was up to par, very fresh and tasty. The wine is extremely reasonable and relatively good, better than you would expect. We had 2 glasses of Chardonnay, each, at 7.50 per 6 ounces. I am fussy, so I expected lower quality, and was surprised. Give them a break on this, it's better than what we have experienced. We were out of there, with the tip, for 100 bucks. We could have had more to eat and less to drink, but that's the kind of day it was. The only thing I am critical of is that there were flies present that should not have been there, which is hard for an establishment to control. Everything was clean on the patio. Absolutely loved my experience at Kintaro! I came with a group of 6, and there was a long wait, but once we were seated we were greeted and made very comfortable by Thao, the manager, who apologized for the long wait times due to them opening less than a week prior & needing more staff. So I'm sure wait times for seating & food will get better, but even with the long wait, I can confirm it's absolutely worth it. Their AYCE menu is very generous with tons of options including wonderfully thick cut sashimi and delicious unique rolls! I also tried fried scallop for the first time - FANTASTIC. This is definitely the best sushi I've had in Tucson by a long shot and I WILL be coming back! Thank you to Thao and our server for treating us so kindly, and compliments to the chefs who made some AMAZING dishes. Service is iffy but the food is decent. Some very good, some not so much. Go once and see what's good and then the second time you can avoid the bad dishes. The food 11/10 on the other hand the service was actually terrible our server Brad would forget everything, our food would be given out to the wrong table, and even people before us with the same server were being served before us not only that there was an older couple who waited almost an hour until a new server to came to check on their food and still charged them after waiting all that time and no one even checked to refill their drinks I love this place the first time I came the service was awesome and the place is beautiful and it is a spot I enjoy very much but after today I feel let down and disappointed on the hospitality of some of the workers im surprised I hope that I wont receive the same experience I had this time because then I wont be coming back. read more

My wife and I went to Kintaro and ordered four rolls and some miso soup like we usually do at our regular sushi spot. This was their all you can eat lunch menu. We had some rolls left over so asked for a box. The manager came over and said if we had a box to go it would be a $10.00 additional charge. I told them to keep the food. The food was serviceable but not delicious like my regular place so I didn't consider it a great loss. When we got the bill we were still charged $10.00 because we didn't finish our plate. I questioned the manager about it but he said that was their policy. It felt like Dad punishing you for nor cleaning your plate. Very weird. read more
