Very fast service for a sushi place, and the food is good. This place is run like clockwork. You order and receive your drinks immediately. I would guess our reasonably large selection (see photo) of nigiri and rolls arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering. My wife's order of veggie tempura was even faster. I thought the quality was pretty dang good. The eel was not the best I have had (that award goes to Sushi in the Valley), but the rest of it was excellent. the salmon skin rolls were exceptional - not often the salmon skin comes out so nice and crunchy. Service was wonderful, and they keep the place clean. It is a little cluttered in there with cases of Kirin stacked up, but I'd rather have a little clutter than run out of beer! We'll definitely be back, especially if we have kids with us that grow impatient waiting...it's a good place if that sounds like you. read more

Sushi was very good, only complaint is they threw it all on one plate so I didn't know which roll was which. Still the go-to. Brought a couple of SoCal friends here for dinner. That's saying something because I wouldn't have brought my living-by-the-beach friends here if I didn't think it was good enough. Tried the New Mexico Roll (guessing yellow tail, tempura shrimp...that's all I can remember), the tempura soft shell crab. Had yellow tail and salmon sashimi, halibut nigiri, and a spicy tuna hand roll. All tasted fresh, washed down with hot sake and Sapporo. Love that the food comes on a boat. Used to be a special thing at a lot of other sushi places but here you get the boat with a little dry ice flair. Tried the tempura banana and matcha ice cream for dessert. Totally recommend both. Very nice cozy little restaurant. Our server was fabulous and the owner came by to check on a several times. The lunch specials were definitely worth it. My husband and I have dined here twice and I'm definitely sad that we didn't come here sooner. The vibe is nice, calm, casual. The menu is extensive. Both times we've dined here we went with the bento box which comes with a lot of food. I did the salmon and shrimp and my husband did the steak and chicken. All delicious! We've also tried the California roll and the salmon roll. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu! Service has been quick and efficient. Used to love coming to this place when it had AYCE sushi but sadly they got rid of it and now it's not worth it. Unless you go mon-fri from 12-230 that's when they have some half priced rolls which are great and priced right. But to sell rolls got $10-15 each on the regular menu. No thank you, I'd rather spend that $ on better food with better quality. But for a lunch spot it's worth it, but other than that it's a place to go when you want sushi and you're on the Northside of town. We came for my little cousins birthday the day after Christmas. Thankfully it wasn't crazy busy. Sadly they no longer offer an all you can eat option so we got several different rolls as well as some tuna nigiri. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Service was quick and efficient and I have to say beer prices are some of the best I've seen at a restaurant. The star of the show for us tonight was the tuna. This has been my husband and I's go-to date spot for years and it just occurred to me I've never left a review! The food is consistently delicious. Sushi is one of my favorite foods- my husband not so much. He had only tried a California roll one time when we had met. I started him off safe with a Vegas roll and that has been his order for years now. 2 Vegas rolls and the teriyaki donburi- great size and value. He's even branched out and now likes some of the rolls with raw fish! The fish has always been fresh and delicious- I definitely notice a difference in quality. Any time Sushi Cortaro was closed and we had to substitute with another restaurant I was left disappointed in comparison. Service has always been quick, and friendly. There were some nights we cut it close to closing time (we always try not to, but sometimes it happens) and we never felt rushed or judged for coming in late on those occasions. This has been a regular date spot for us as boyfriend/girlfriend, as fiancés, as newlyweds, and most recently- our first meal at the hospital after giving birth to our daughter (9 whole months without sushi ). We arrived about 4:00PM on a Wednesday in April. We were greeted promptly and taken to a table. The service is awesome, and the people are sooo nice. The restaurant isn't huge so I imagine there could be a wait at certain times. We ordered 2 Kirins, Edamame, the Summer roll and the Caterpillar roll. The food arrived fairly quickly. Love this place for sushi! Usually get the spicy tuna roll, teen gets the cali roll, and hubs gets the nigiri. kids meals and drinks are great, and the service is always FAST! We ordered a plethora of rolls, including spicy crab, roll, tempura, roll, and the special of the month the Lover roll. The rolls were good , my suggestion is for the lover roll have a little bit more of a sauce because it was very dense and dry. I decided to try to softshell crab, the tempura was nice and Crispy . And the crab tasted fresh, sometimes soft shell crab can become fibrous. this was cooked well. My daughter got the Bento box she enjoyed it and loved the miso soup . Service was top notch, young gentleman that took care of us make sure that our waters were full and checked on us repeatedly to make sure we enjoyed our meal.
