I don't know what exactly my fiancé ordered but the sushi was amazing. They had so many options to choose from it was hard to decide. Sushi in Tucson is not a difficult thing to find. What is difficult to find is great sushi. Sushi Cortaro is a jewel in the desert with excellent fish and impeccable service. Their rolls are unique and delicious, their negiri always fresh and include fresh off menu options. I cannot recommend Sushi Cortaro enough and it is always my first choice when I have the craving. As a lover of hand rolls I do miss "all you can eat" and the value provided. I wish they provided hand rolls at a discounted price. I would order them by the dozens. read more

Some of the best I've had, but the sushi became more of a cucumber and cream cheese roll no matter what I ordered. If you had one, you most likely can hold off on a different roll since they have the same ingredients . However, they are pretty good tasting rolls! Their Ikura nigiri was too salty. Since moving to the northwest side of town, this has climbed the ranks to being my favorite Tucson sushi spot. I have visited with my husband quite a few times, including since COVID. It can definitely get crowded here, especially on weekends, but they have made an effort to enforce precautions, including limiting seating, not allowing people to congregate in the entryway, and putting up large partitions between tables. On my most recent visit, we actually left the River location to come here because the staff there seemed very disorganized. No one greeted us when we came in. I had to seek out a staff member to put us on the wait list and he asked my name but didn't write anything down or seem to be keeping track of any other parties before us. The service here is much better. My husband loves the all-you-can-eat sushi, and it is a decent deal, but I always end up uncomfortably stuffed, so I just stick with getting my two favorite rolls, the Rock and Roll and the Banzai. Respectively, those two are really fancy versions of a spicy tuna and Cali roll. The fish is fresh, and the food is really good. I have never been disappointed in the service. Prices are fair. We did order a sashimi special for two to go once, and that was really solid. Although the salad that comes with it is just bagged iceberg with a really sweet peanut dressing; that's something that could be better, but whatevs! read more

Went to the Cortaro location for the all you can eat menu, however they have changed their policy to only have it available Sunday through Thursday, so be aware of that if you decide to go specifically for the all you can eat. Instead, we ordered off their normal menu, everything was reasonably priced and there were a lot of good sushi options. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and crab puffs, both had a good amount for two people to share and were delicious. I got the dragon roll and the shrimp tempura, with a side of miso soup. I chose the dragon roll since I like eel and that roll had eel on top. The shrimp tempura was good and crispy, and had a large diameter, so be prepared for a crunchy mouthful. Sushi Cortaro is normal the go to place for all you can eat, but with covid we ordered to go. Easy ordering process. Price is definitely worth the quality of fish and amount. They do make you wait outside since they have the whole restaurant closed off due to covid. Which was different and was able to social distance safely outside as well. Parking is a little busy/full directly in front of the restaurant, but they do have whole left side of native New Yorker. Overall, amazing place to get sushi and even though did not get all you can eat this time would recommend especially they have spicy tuna which some places don't have. Since my original review I've been back 2 times, each a little bit more disappointing than the next. When the same friend and I went back in February, we went on a week night for sushi. We ordered enough rolls to split but did not want to gorge ourselves so we wanted to get a to-go box after we'd already received our check. When we received the to-go box, we got another, much higher, bill. When we questioned why we received the higher bill, our server told us because we wanted a to-go box and none of the "happy hour" sushi is able to be taken home at the happy hour price. Neither my friend, nor I, knew we participated in happy hour but we went with it. It was really disappointing that they were going to throw the food away rather than let her take it home so we paid the more expensive bill. Last week, the same friend and I went back for a third time thinking now that we know there's a happy hour, we will do things correctly, order small amounts of sushi, and then get it for the reduced price. First of all, the sushi restaurant smelled very fishy, which wasn't a good sign. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to order. I got the krab based rolls this time and she proceeded with sashimi. We thought everything was going well until we got the bill and noticed that the rolls were significantly higher than the prices we ordered. This time we did not order a beer with our sushi, so again, no happy hour prices.
