I'm so glad my aunt chose to eat here, we came in it wasn't busy at all. The place was beautiful inside, so open and plenty of seating. We had a table so we'd be able to watch the TVs since baseball was on. Our servers named is Cassandra and she was the best server I think we've ever had, she was so kind and helpful. She made sure to keep checking in and keeping us ordering more and more food. We asked what items she liked the most, and she was spot on for all her recommendations. We stayed I think 3 hours and just took our time trying different food items and the only one that needs work is the tempura it was undercooked and not crispy enough. My favorite item was the fried fish, and my cocktail the Pineapple Express. I had read a some reviews before going and we did hear they had a lot of bad reviews from previous staff. The restaurant has definitely turned around from what you've read, so if you had a bad first impression I would recommend going back and trying them again. The one thing I do want to throw out there is the lack of bartenders that's my only call out. My mom wanted an old fashioned and the guy who made it was a bar back and had no experience making drinks. So once you fix that then I think you'll be killing it. So until that happens my rating will be 4 stars, so that way there's a chance for improvement. Next time I'm visiting I will be coming back and hopefully Cassandra is still working, she's one of your best workers. read more

Came to have pre -birthday dinner for my son . 15 yrs old . For sum reason it's not like it used to be ? Haven't been here in 3 yrs. N the ambiance is the same , nothing has changed in yrs. It's a nice looking place in a historic building. I've been many times over the years. But skimpflation and other forces maybe dragging it down. We ordered some appetizers that I remembered fondly and a couple rolls. The lunch specials didn't sound that exciting and seemed over priced so we went to the regular menu. First we ordered monkey brains, fried krab, and fried chicken. The brains (fried avocado stuffed with krab and spicy tuna) was just like a remembered, the fried krab was very disappointing it used to be a handful of full pieces and now its like one piece cut up, a real waste of money. Then fried chicken karage was inedible, low quality chicken that was dry and tough, in other words really bad so I sent it back. The 2 rolls we had were tasty. Service was good, no complainta there. Went here with a friend who considers this his favorite sushi source. This was my first visit at this location. We ordered a five piece combo sashimi ....tuna, yellow tail and salmon plus a caterpillar roll. The ambiance was pleasant and the service was good. The sashimi was nicely cut and overall tasty. Unfortunately the tuna was difficult to chew; it was almost like jerky when you have to tear a bite off. I forget to take a picture of the plate before we tore into it. Came here for dinner on a busy Saturday night and was so impressed with service and food. There were about 15 of us in our party and the server was on top of everything. Our food came fast and everything tasted delicious. I had the A mountain roll, the caterpillar roll, miso soup and the gummy bear martini and it was 10/10. Restaurant looked clean and vibey. Last time I went I ordered well over $50 in sushi, realized the next day they charged me twice, tried calling because it's a small problem that can easily be fixed. I called 6 times. All 6 of those times I was hung up on. I usually don't write reviews but I can confidently say the food is not that good for me to go back after this. I loved sushi garden . But I got disappointed the last time I went since the waiter ( female) was rude . It took over 25 minutes for her to get my order , even though she attended clients who got there after me . I asked for spicy mayo and she said it doesn't exist in a laughing tone . They're consistent and they make things that aren't available at other places, namely their special rolls like Sunset Roll which is a rice free roll with spicy tuna, crab, tuna, avocado wrapped in soy paper. The Bulgogi rice bowl is tender and delicious as well with caramelized onions. Sake Bombs $11, yes please. Curbside pickup if you aren't feeling peopley. Spicy wings on appetizer menu were great! I went with Las Vegas roll but HARD PASS. It was tasty however EXTREMELY greasy. I realized that the roll once wrapped in seaweed is deep fried. Then it's covered in rice and deep fried again. The rice sucks up the oil between layers of frying. The salmon was very fresh and delicious. I would come back and try something new. read more

After my son was burned with a cup of hot miso soup that the waitress told us "spills easy", the manager did not try to rectify the situation in any way. I hope that all families that read this review to beware of the dangerous hot liquids container that Sushi Garden serves with. The fact that the waitress warned us that this cup "spills easy" means this has happened before and they continued to serve hot liquids in these cups. This is a review of the Spectrum Mall location. I have been to the Broadway location many times. An enjoyable special event. When I found out that they had a location at the Spectrum Mall I said great. That's 5 miles from my home. We arrived at 11 am. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The vibe was all wrong. Loud Mexican music blaring over the speakers. In a Japanese restaurant? Hontoni. About 70 dB. Same as a telephone. I couldn't hear my guest 3 feet away. We asked if they could turn it down. That never happened. The bass was overpowering and ruined what should have been a delightful break. Careful with any pick up orders through an app. This place low balls estimated times by 100%. Order and the estimated time provided by the store to the app says 30 minutes arrive for pick up and they tell us another 30. I totally get it on busy days. Having been to Sushi Garden multiple times, the food is always consistent and great tasting. To those who indulge in miso soup, I highly recommend Sushi Gardens'. The interior feels very luxurious with a nice looking bar and comfortable seating. When walking in, you'd think you're going to spend a fortune, when in reality the menu is very affordable and great tasting. They have a wide variety of drinks and my personal favorite is the big bowl looking one, which is a fun one to share with the table. Came into the restaurant in hopes of a good quality meal in turn it was not, ordered the pork ramen dish and the pork was barely edible with only 2 pieces, eggs were just normal refrigerated hard boiled eggs, and the noodles were undercooked. Nothing like you would expect when you think pork ramen. No flavor or anything special. Order then tempura roll as well and the rice roll came out way over cooked along the lines of mush. Sushi garden is the type of place that you go to when you want decent sushi without the extra hype. Sure there are a lot of places in Tucson that offer a more premium ambiance but if you're looking to get in and out pretty fast and still have good food, this is your spot. The Spanish roll is my go-to. The hints of citrus, tajin, fresh cilantro and jalapeño slices make this roll an excellent option when you're craving something refreshing with some zing. It resembles the taste of a fresh ceviche with a hint of Asian fusion. I've been to several sushi spots in town but this roll is unique to SG and the reason I return often. As far as the ambiance goes, it's not a fancy place but for the food quality, price, and service, it's a good choice. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's good not great and the silverware and glassware could definitely use an upgrade. I typically clean off the water spots on my utensils when I'm here which isn't something a guest should have to do each time they visit. Also the service varies on the day and time of day. I can't say I've ever had a bad experience with the staff but nothing memorably good in terms of hospitality. The food typically comes out in stages which is normal for a sushi restaurant so I appreciate that it gets the food to the table much faster especially when you're with a large party. If they were to upgrade their dish-ware, revamp the look and feel of the interior, offer some new rolls every season to change it up, and train the staff to be a little more attentive, I'd give them a 4. read more

We ordered and that was about the last time we seen her. The food was excellent but we were still hungry. I ordered a salmon rice bowl thinking it was cooked salmon. It was next to the other friend rice options of steak and chicken. When it came out, it was raw salmon. I told the waiter it was my mistake but I was wanting cooked salmon. He asked the manager if I would be able to switch it for cooked salmon. The manager (bald younger man) says loudly "this is a sushi restaurant, everything is raw" so loud and rude for me to hear. The waiter who was very nice apologized and said I cannot take it back and still have to pay for it. Whatever, I'd be okay with that if the manager wasn't so rude about it!
