The food was okay overall. The ramen was on the plain side. The rice and salmon were the highlight, but not something we would return for. The sushi rolls and other items were also okay, and the flavors didn't stand out to us. Service was fast and the staff was friendly. The ambiance has enough seating, but it may be tough for larger parties. There are a lot of signs inside. The tonkotsu ramen and gyoza were good. The California roll was like an avacado roll with barely any crab! They probably could use a fifth of the avacado and it would be so much better. There is no cucumber in the California roll which maybe that's just local to the area, but I've never had a California roll without cucumber. It wasn't bad, it's just completely overpowered by avocado. The outside seating is nice and the interior has good seating too. Outside seating has a hose with several water mists! There are no menus inside, so make sure you take a look on the window menus before you go inside. Service was fast, you get a pager when your food is ready and pick it up at the counter. The restaurant is near my dentist's office and I always wanted to try the sushi every time I passed by the enticing menu choices posted at the window. There's not many places in Tucson where you can find good Japanese food. We finally gave Ikkyu a try and were impressed! Food- we got the spicy tuna don volcano style. The portion was great for the price! And overall the flavor profile was excellent. Service- fast professional and helpful. No complaints Ambience- there are tables to eat and they appeared comfortable but we were in a hurry a did takeout. I think this place does lots of takeout orders too. When we're in the area, we usually stop in, but most of the menu relies heavily on spicy mayo and eel sauce, which just isn't my preference. The one thing I do enjoy is the plain brown rice. Classic restaurant that has been a long time favorite for our family. They have a simple menu but everything is good. The Tepan chicken is tender and the ginger sauce is flavorful. The yakisoba pork is always made to perfection. I have been getting the spicy tuna roll as an appetizer for years and it is simply the best. They only have 4 ramens but each one is made to perfection. The building is small so take out is a good option if you have a large party but I like eating my ramen there in person. We had a great meal here. The food is top notch and the ramen is best I've had since Japan. It's a busy place doing a lot of take out but the tables were good sized and clean. Menus only on the outside window which is odd. Staff is friendly and polite. I had ramen and my wife had teriyaki pork bowl. We both finished our meals and that's rare. The sushi menu is small but very good quality and the additional of the volcano style just makes it better. I used to come here all the time when I lived in the Tucson area because I was hooked on the Spicy Tuna Don (the original, like deconstructed sushi roll). I've never had anything else at this spot but this bowl .. the bowl starts with sushi rice, a generous scoop of spicy tuna, garnished with cucumber, green onion & seaweed. It's served with a hot cup of Miso soup. I did try the volcano version once and was not a fan. They do have ramen, bowls, bento boxes, sushi, etc. The menu is taped to the front windows, since COVID, and I guess that's a permanent thing now. They do have QR codes on tables but no menu at the front register. Located next to LeeLee Market, they share the same parking lot. Plenty of indoor and outdoor covered seating. I've been here a few times now and the food and prices are good. I got a chicken yakisoba and liked it. My friend got a volcano donburi, her first time here, and she also enjoyed her meal! Although, I went this past week and the menus are all outside and it says there's none inside. I wouldn't mind this if it wasn't 100 degrees outside. Honestly get what you pay for. Cheap ramen and sushi at great prices! The front desk lady was very nice. However that's where the good stops. Sushi is poorly rolled. We got the philly and ninja roll. The salmon and tuna tasted like it's been sitting out all day out of temperature. Weird smell coming from it as well which should have been my first sign to not trust it. We also got the Miso and Shoyu ramen. Ramen had no depth of flavor. Any ramen enthusiast that understands the cooking of Ramen can tell a ramen that was cooked fast vs a loved and cared for one. Pork had no flavor and the broth tasted flat. No real sitting inside either. This seems to be meant for quick cheap ramen to go which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the inside ambience just felt loud and cluttered. We sat outside which is just cheap steel patio tables and chairs that are filled with dust and debris. I would not recommend this place unless you're okay with mediocre food for a small price. Better places in tucson to get better quality sushi and ramen for the same price points. read more
