The staff was friendly and had a family like feel. The soup was extremely flavorful, a little greasy, good hangover meal lol. But the flavor is put of this world. They have vegan options too. Outside dining and inside dining available. Plenty of searing. The price is right as well.

Great staff and a cool environment, but the ramen was not as good as advertised. I will say, most of the ramen is a pork based broth and I ordered the chicken so I won't speak to other menu items, but my soup was very monotone. The toppings were bland and the broth lacked much flavor.

Tasty ramen and great service! We came here after seeing it ranked number three in an Arizona article about top ramen spots, and it didn't disappoint. The staff was super friendly, and the broth was full of flavor. The noodles and toppings were cooked just right. I had the Black Garlic Tonkotsu, and my husband got the Umami Shoyu Ramen. Both were totally different but equally delicious. We also shared the Unagi Don for $6.50. It was really delicious and a perfect way to start our meal. They offer extra noodles or rice, depending on what meal you order, for under $5 if you're still hungry. But we were full after sharing the Unagi and each having our own ramen. It was more than enough and totally worth it. You can't make a reservation ahead of time, so expect a bit of a wait when you arrive. We were quoted 15 to 20 minutes, but it actually felt shorter. Since there's no indoor waiting area, you can wait in your car or outside, and they'll call your phone when your table is ready. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside at a booth, and it was really comfortable and cushy. We will definitely be back!

Service was fantastic and we were lucky enough to only have to wait about 10 minutes for a table even though we were quoted 30 minutes, what a nice surprise! Both ramens were delicious, I particularly loved the garlic flavor on the tonkotsu. My first bowl of ramen had a hair floating on top but they promptly gave me a new one. Would definitely go back!

Eh it was ok. Came for lunch and got the tonkotsu with spicy chili on the side. I needed soy sauce and the flavor was underwhelming. I had a very small piece of pork which was tasty but there wasn't much of it. The egg was fine, not overcooked. Lots of toppings and lots of noodles. Overall it was like eating under-seasoned soup with too many noodles. The broth wasn't how I remember. It had the right flavor but not as rich as I remember. Last time I was here was probably 2018. I would not come back.

Service was great. But flavor seemed off. Also wish they had a child's menu or allowed splitting an order. Calamari was a wonderful appetizer and the edamame as well. The seafood ramen only had one shrimp and a few tiny pieces of squid and scallops. Kids each had the chicken Ramen. My daughter had the Tonkotsu with black garlic (this may have thrown the flavor off). Broth was okay but other places have better broth.

I had never been to this restaurant. It is definitely worth the visit if you like Ramen. Ramen dish I had was fantastic.

Pretty good ramen in Tucson area since it's authentic Japanese ramen, I would be more impressed about their gyoza since they use a bit spice n vinegar sauce!! Tasty n delicious!!! Services were very good n efficient!!! Ambiance seem very typical classic Japanese ramen shop!!

Another great visit! We were seated right away at 7pm on a Friday night. We sat outside and it was nice and quiet. We got gyoza, spicy miso and spicy chicken and everything was hot, spicy, fresh and delicious. The food comes out so fast! Servers are all quick and very friendly.

Loved this place! If you need a great meal at a fast pace - this is your spot. We ordered the gyoza, the pork yakisoba, and the spicy miso ramen. I am not exaggerating at all when I tell you that our food was out in less than 5 minutes. And it was piping hot and delicious! The staff is also so very friendly. I actually don't care for ramen and cannot use chopsticks. The staff didn't make me feel ashamed or embarrassed for asking for a fork to eat my yakisoba dish. We both loved our food. My husband is a huge ramen fan and loved his. I loved the pork yakisoba so much that I'd go back for just this one dish again and again. The noodles were cooked to perfection! The gyoza were so full of flavor and came with a light suave drizzled on them so there was no need to dip them in anything - making it much easier to eat. The space is small, but the service is fast so it wasn't hard to get an inside table on a busy Saturday. They also have a patio which I am looking forward to experiencing in the cooler months. This will definitely not be our last time at this spot!

We enjoyed the quick service and good ramen. The ambiance was nice and mellow at 4pm in the afternoon. Will recommend if you're looking for a good ramen spot!

I love this spot the ramen is so so good and my boyfriend liked that there was an option for double portion of the tonkotsu!

black roasted garlic tonkotsu and red spicy chili tonkotsu

We ordered black roasted garlic tonkotsu and red spicy chili tonkotsu, both were so savory/delicious. We preferred the red spicy chili. It was just the right amount of spice, not too spicy that you can't enjoy it. Not pictured is chicken ramen for our kids, they loved it as well, they all of their noodles.

Do they have gluten free noodles?

Yes, see the menu photos under More Ramen for gluten free options

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes. There are rice bowls that appear to be gluten free.

As a guy who has eaten ramen all over japan, is this ramen up to the standards of the stuff in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto etc?

I think so. I spent five years in Japan. I did not eat a lot of ramen (though I ate out a lot), but this place has the feel of a place in Japan. The chef, I am told, is from Okinawa.

The red miso definitely satisfied my spicy tastes if you are the type of person who can eat a bag of hot Cheetos without blinking you'll be fine but if you're sensitive to spice you might want to skip that option. On the menu they do have chili peppers next to the items to indicate the spice level. The portions are BIG and definitely worth it. They come in the cutest bowels and have an excellent packing system of the broth is separate from the noodles and other items if you're getting it to go. The actual restaurant is quirky for sure with Easter eggs hidden and anime and Pokémon around the restaurant. This is DEFINITELY better than Obon and Raijen hands down. I'm paying attention to…read moreseasoning, temperature, texture, balance, consistency, and all the small things that tell you whether somebody in that kitchen actually understands what they're doing. Ikkyu absolutely does. The first thing that stood out to me was the ramen. A good bowl of ramen isn't about throwing a bunch of toppings over noodles and calling it a day--the broth has to carry the entire bowl. This one had the kind of depth that tells you time and technique went into it. Rich and savory without becoming heavy, properly seasoned without tasting like somebody simply reached for more salt, and enough body to coat your palate and keep you going back for another spoonful. That balance is harder to achieve than people realize. The noodles, broth, toppings, and seasoning all worked together instead of fighting for attention. Nothing felt like it was there just for presentation. It tasted deliberate. There's a difference between food that follows a recipe and food that comes from years of repetition, adjustment, and understanding, and Ikkyu tastes like the latter. What I probably appreciate most is that the restaurant doesn't try to disguise itself as something it isn't. It's casual, comfortable, straightforward Japanese food. No unnecessary theatrics. No giant price tag attached to the atmosphere. The focus is where it should be: the food. Service was quick and friendly, the restaurant had that relaxed neighborhood feel, and there's something refreshing about finding a place that seems more interested in feeding people well than trying to impress them with everything surrounding the plate. From one kitchen person to another, I have a lot of respect for restaurants like this. Making something look complicated is easy. Taking something that appears simple and executing it consistently with depth, balance, and flavor is much harder. Ikkyu feels like one of those Tucson places you could easily drive past without realizing how much experience is sitting behind that counter. This is the kind of local restaurant I want to support. Five stars from me, and I'll absolutely be back.
