Service was friendly and quick. The sashimi fish was generous and fresh. The daily lunch special comes with miso soup, edamame and your choice of 2 sushi rolls.

It's been a minute since I've been here, sushi being expensive and me usually eating a lot I've been doing the all you can eat places. I was very happy to be back and this platter was just enough for me. The service is good and the sushi is terrific!! It's small clean and easy to get to. It was super crowded on a Wednesday and I looked at everyone's food as always, I look and ask questions all the time and my friends are better about being annoyed with me. Usually I've met really nice people doing that. Needless to say the food atmosphere and service make the place!!

So the craving this evening was sushi! I acquiesced and let my host decide where we were going to go ! We had a lobster roll , and awesome roll , and a tempura roll. As far as sashimi we had tuna , salmon, scallops , and yellowtail! The sushi was delicious , the service was a little to be desired. Next time I'm hitting the sushi bar ..

It's a cozy spot located at a strip mall. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The service was fast and the sushi was really good. The only thing that could improve would be to time when the food comes to the table. The sushi came out before the appetizer and the teriyaki came out much later than the rest.

Very good service, small but nice & neat place, easy parking. Delicious agedashi Tofu and sushi rolls. The rice in nigiri is kinda too much so the fish portion on it is small.

Chirashi bowl was a beautiful presentation of chef's choice sashimi over rice. Very fresh. Friendly service.

The service was great! The sashimi was great according to my brother, but the rolls (tempura and soft shell crab) were rolled a bit loose. Definitely was busy and had good music

Second visit. After a disappointing first visit where the chef was out we came back for a second visit. We are glad we came! Great quality sushi in a surprising spot. We started with edamame and salad which was fine. We ordered a series of negiri and some rolls - eel avocado roll. Good balanced roll - rainbow roll. Generous top and usual fare inside. - tuna. Dark firm and tasty - yellowtail. Nice Japanese cut. Fresh - unagi. Well basted and not excessively fatty - ebi. Nice large firm shrimp - salmon. My favorite. Some belly cuts and other but all firm and delicious. - sweet shrimp. Good but batter left them a bit oily. Good service and great sushi chefs. Well done. I recommend this place!

presentation of food is superior as well!

We sat in a cozy bar top bench and a lovely waitress with a big smile helped us right away with hot water for me and ice water for my husband. We started off with a large hot craft of sake and the garlicky spicy edamame. Edamame was cooked to perfection. Some places, the beans are too hard. The taste was different but good and spice level could be higher. Our first roll came and almost as if our waitress was a genie, every time we finished a roll, she appeared with the next one! Always with a big smile and asking how we liked it. Our first one was probably one of the best specialty rolls I had. Our second one was the tootsie roll, it was fresh, simple and delicious as well. The third one was our jalapeño with tuna and cream cheese popper which was so indulgent. Our last roll was the Summerhaven roll. It had four pieces but extra large and topped with a sweet sauce with tiny pieces of mango and cucumber. It was a perfect dessert roll! Everything we ordered was amazing! The place, the staff, the food!!! And our bill was less than $70 for the two of us and we had drinks! You can't beat that at a sushi place. We will be back before we leave!

My daughter described the ambiance as "interesting," which is a very kind and diplomatic way to say... it has personality. The kind that makes you look around and go, "Okay... I see what you're trying to do here." But let's be honest we came for the food, not a design critique. Now, my ordering style? Zero restraint. I went all in: Las Vegas roll with sesame crust, scallop and salmon rolls, sashimi lunch special, and sukiyaki beef. Yes, all for me. I believe in commitment. After tasting everything, I found myself in a bit of a flavor identity crisis. The scallops and salmon? Absolutely worth talking about fresh, clean, and memorable. Those bites had purpose. The rest... well, they were polite. And by polite, I mean they didn't offend me, but they also didn't leave a lasting impression. The kind of dishes you forget before you even start your car. Now, the sukiyaki this one needs a little heart-to-heart. It leaned a bit too sweet, like it was trying to win me over with sugar instead of depth. The tofu came in cold (which felt like a surprise I didn't ask for), and the beef... unfortunately, it was overworked and under-juicy. The service, however, was lovely attentive and kind. I tipped happily. But if the food rises to meet that level, I'd be ready to compliment the chef just as generously. Shogun has the foundation it just needs a little more consistency and confidence in the kitchen to turn "interesting" into "impressive." -- Teeraya Tomlin

The amount of sushi you get compared to cost makes it very affordable. The plating is amazing as you can see in the photos. We opted for the combos which come with several pieces of sushi and some come with sashimi as well and rolls. The cuts of sushi were large and fresh. There was wasabi and ginger if you enjoy those. The rolls were creative and delicious. Our favorite was Ni Bistro roll followed by the Emerald. The sushi"wich" was very creative and looked like a sandwich. The Ni Bistro was full of flavor and had a lot of pieces. Overall, we highly recommend this new find on the Northwest side!

Surprisingly bad. I ordered the chicken and pineapple fried rice and a spicy tuna roll…read more Both were the worst I've had. The spicy tuna roll was especially strange - it had no flavor. I didn't know what I was eating. Eventually I could pick up some spiciness, but it was subtle. It was so bland and mushy, I wasn't even sure I was eating tuna. At one point I pulled a piece of the roll apart to take a closer look. I couldn't tell if it was tuna or not - I assume they use some kind of filler ingredients in addition to tuna (maybe that's normal for spicy tuna rolls, but they normally taste much better than this). The fried rice was the worst I've had, though still edible. The pineapple was strange in that it didn't taste like pineapple - I guess it wasn't ripe yet. So no pineapple flavor in the pineapple fried rice. Beyond that, the dish was bland. The unfortunate reality is that Tucson has low standards for Asian food, and shockingly bad places can stick around for years. Some of you remember Yokohama Rice Bowl, a local fast food chain, which was awful, and immediately displaced when Panda Express arrived, which is 10x better... It's too bad that Ni's isn't trying to do something great.
