I used to LOVE the place. They just got new owners and new menu concept and I was open to it. Went a few times and was okay. The fish is just so fresh compared to so many place in Tucson. That's what ALWAYS wins me over. However they did change spicy scallop recipe and calamari is different. A lot of menu items had subtle changes. For the first time I had not only a fish bone AND a fish scale in my Spicy Salmon. So whoever prepped it didn't do it correctly. I have never in my life of eating sushi experienced this. Let the server know that whoever prepped it might want to take their time next time. The chef didn't even acknowledge the server when she showed him. Didn't apologize for the mistake. When leaving they didn't look up as normal and purposely looked down. That alone put sour taste. Sad to see this beloved place turn to this. read more

It's always been one of those reliable places you can count on. I'm all about the Agadashi Tofu, while my husband and daughter like to mix it up with sushi rolls or noodle dishes. We've got our favorites, but it's also fun to try new things here. We hadn't been in for a few months, and when we went back tonight, I noticed right away that the staff was all new. That was a little surprising--we'd been seeing the same familiar faces for years. A few dishes looked a bit different, too, but we were told the recipes are the same, just presented differently. I have trouble finding Katsu donburi in Tucson, you can find lots of Katsu Don (fried cutlet with rice) but it is much hard to find katsu donburi (fried cutlet with rice AND EGG.) The egg makes all the difference to the dish. It soaks up the sauce, that is perfect with the meat and vegetables. It doesn't over power anything, only compliments. To finish it off, the entire staff in the restaurant is super friendly. They greet you when you come in, and helpful and friendly in ordering, and they cheerfully send you off. I could not have felt more welcome there. They only sell katsu donburi at lunch. read more
