Came here for a small working/weekday lunch. The restaurant was 3/4 full and staff was on top of things. I opted for the #3 lunch special (3 pieces of sushi and a roll + miso soup) for $14. All reasonable, given that it's sushi, but I'll be honest, this still-growing-boy needed a bit more after that! The sushi itself was "ok" but the hand roll was terrific. Staff was attentive to all entrees and drinks (refilling my friend's diet coke 3 times!) and had zero problem with doing 4 separate checks too. We have ordered from Sushi Cho for years on special occasions. They always have the most fresh sashimi and delicious Hamachi Kama in town. We ordered on Sat. Feb 7 for two Hamachi Kamas ($16/each) and one Chirashi ($30) to go. These Kamas came with salad, miso soup, rice and half orange. Well salted and peppered to perfection. Chirashi was similar with abandon of fresh sashimis and rice. (see photos below) Their sushi boat ($59) is always a delightful feast for multiple people. Their servers are very friendly and attentive to all customers too. I highly recommend this restaurant to all sushi lovers. (Other Note: Ordered same dishes from Kazoku sushi on Feb 3rd because Sushi Cho was closed. Their Hamachi kamas were much smaller, charred, no garnishes and more expensive ($18). Sushi-Cho was a great find for us and we have kept coming back over the best couple years. After trying several other Sushi restaurants we finally found one we liked. While others have gone to all you can eat, we find that either the seafood isn't the best quality or there is way too much rice. Shush-Cho hasn't done that and serves fresh quality seafood at a reasonable price. The service is always quick even when it's at its busiest. This place has been in business for 28 years and it shows in the decor, but that also means they make a good sushi. This was another step on my journey to try every sushi place in Tucson. Service was friendly, informative, and attentive. We started with the $10 tempura app that came with 2 shrimp and fried salmon. But I was blown away by the fact that they still provide complimentary miso soup and edamame. So Mayne places have tossed that treat out. We tried several rolls, but for the cost conscious, they have several bundles and meal deals. As sushi goes, this place is pretty reasonable. As for the taste. Everything was clearly fresh and made fresh. Fish temp and texture was perfect. The rice correct. They have a mix of heavy rolls and refreshing rolls. Pretty low key sushi restaurant. I dropped in as it was on the way home. The food quality was good. The fish tasted fresh, was cold, and good textures. I got the combo with a $2 roll upgrade to the spicy tuna rainbow roll. It was cool to see them offering a sushi dish for less than $20 if no upgrades. The restaurant was typical mom & pop sushi spot in a strip mall. The service was fast and friendly. I thought it was cool some of the staff spoke spanish. Ordered sushi combo for delivery. Usually, by the time Sushi is delivered, it becomes soggy, smelly and pretty sub standard (when compared to in restaurant dining). However, the sushi I had from sushi cho tasted fresh (and cold), non smelly and did punch above its $. Hopefully the same level of freshness remains in my next order. read more

We decided to go to Sushi-Cho for my wife's birthday. We've been coming here for the last few years and really like the food but more than that, the service can't be beat. Mandy has always been simply amazing and Jasmine has been a great addition to their team. They both make us feel like part of the family. On this visit we started with the crispy wings, they were delicious. We decided to order the sushi boat and a few other rolls and things. The boat starts with an order of edamame which my daughter loves, and some miso soup. When the boat came out it looked amazing and comes with a lot of sushi. Everything was amazing, the sushi is fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed rainbow rolls and you just can't beat the sushi combo boat, it really is an impressive presentation of sushi. Absolutely incredible spot. This restaurant has a little bit of everything Japanese(Asian) one could ask for. Sushi, Ramen curry dishes, and even some traditional Chinese dishes like orange chicken. We had the ramen, sushi and some crab puffs. All were top notch tasty. The staff was great. Even thought we were there to a little past the time they closed, they were more than courteous. The dining room was nice and clean. Only little negative is I wish they had the actual sushi " bar" open to sit at. They had it closed off for some reason. Other than that, great place. The way this was EXACTLY what I wanted. Today was a day and I did not have it in me to cook. I rarely order from Uber Eats but I had a little extra cash and decided it was worth it to just have an easy night. I wanted noodles. The thick kinda. Udon. I found this place on Yelp, browsed the menu (wish I'd realized I could've just ordered on Yelp cuz there appears to be a fuller menu on here.) I ended up getting the Yaki Udon noodle plate which wasn't too big and just what I needed. Goldilocks ya know? I also got the potstickers which were good but the best part was the sauce provided with them. Not sure what it was but it wasn't super salty. Perfectly sour and sweet. Yes, a 3.5 star rating is more like it. Good prices, good serving sizes, great service, nice atmosphere, easy location. For Asian food, I judge a place by how it compares to the quality of if I did it myself. Is it just as good? Better? Not as good? Just falls a bit short on the food. The sushi rolls are very good. Deep fried oysters, soft shell crab is good. Summer roll (shrimp and rice noodles with spinach in transparent wrap with peanut sauce) is good. I had the Sushi Cho Lunch Special (bento). Miso soup with entree has nothing in it, no tofu, green onions. Yakisoba is pretty plain. Not much added to it, flavor is weak. Not as good as mine. Tempura was OK, but the dipping sauce wasn't much in terms of flavor. The shrimp tempura was a bit skimpy on the shrimp. Could barely taste it. The gyoza (pot stickers) were OK. Almost as good as mine. California rolls were simple and OK. The tonkatsu was OK. Not the best. Not the worst. So a 3.5 star rating...I would still come back here on occasion, and I certainly have. Well, I'm the Duke of Sushi-Cho, after all. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. Late night ramen! Was so happy to find this spot open late for our ramen fix. We have an active schedule and finding yumminess late is a struggle. Sushi-Cho is open until 9/9:30pm. I ordered online for pickup & it was ready in 15mins. Packaged & boxed up so nicely. We ordered build your own ramen with miso soup, topped with fried tofu. Each ramen bowl comes with poached egg, beansprouts, green onions and fried onions. We also ordered the kids meal with shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, white rice, miso soup & choice of protein. Choices are orange chicken, teriyaki salmon, teriyaki chicken. I chose teriyaki chicken. Sadly I did not get the miso soup in my lovely order. But it was late & everything was great. 10/10!!! the hawaiian roll phenomenal , we got the combo plates that came with fresh nigiri. HUGE PORTIONS, the wasabi and ginger was fantastic, and so fresh. Fun step into the 80s with the aesthetic of this place! I think the Cho special with the roll, 4 pieces of Nigiri, miso and salad for under $12 is a screaming deal. This place is a go to for my other half whenever I'm out of town, easy to get to from downtown, easy parking, on his way home and there isn't usually any wait. My fiancé got the Tonkatsu (pork) Japanese curry. He has no tolerance for spicy food. And he thought it was really spicy. He said his mouth was on fire after eating it. I didn't think it was spicy at all, but he powered through it. My friend and I both got the Cho combo. It comes with 4 pieces of nigiri and a roll of your choice. We both got the rainbow roll. The rainbow roll is yellowtail, tuna, white tuna, salmon, and shrimp on the top. I have to say. It is extremely filling because of all the rice. I live near this sushi restaurant and it was my first time and figured it was time to give it a try. I gotta say the prices were reasonable and the items looked goddess in the photos but upon receiving the items ordered, I wasn't sure if they served the sushi like that all the time or the person who made it was new but it came as if they put rice on the plate and put a slab of fish over the rice and cut it into slices. It looked odd and I had to look under the huge piece of fish to see if there was actually rice underneath it lol. I mean, they could just be super generous with their fish but i was laughing cuz I had never seen sushi presented like that. I love sashimi so it basically looked like sashimi on your place with a pinky finger sized piece of rice. The salmon tasted better than the tuna (tuna seemed cheap or looked fake as it wasn't very dark red but like a light reddish pink). The tempura was very doughy not light n crunchy and the miso soup was a bit salty. The rolls are big for your buck and I was hungry so I ate most of what I ordered. It's near the university so I'm sure it's cheap and adorable for the students but overall I think the quality of the food was decent but not that appetizing. The place could use some remodeling inside as it looked dark n old. I wasn't even sure if it was open cuz it looked so dark. The staff and maybe the owner or manager, not sure what his title was but they were all super friendly and they did a great job. Would I return, umm probably, just to eat sashimi since they practically give you a whole fish, but it wouldn't be my first choice, but more like my last choice (again it could have been a new chef/cook or maybe an employee filling in for the cook) read more

The service here is outstanding and we went on a weeknight, so the vibe was pretty relaxed. We felt very welcomed and the servers were so knowledgeable about the menu. The menu was extensive and included many good things for those who do not eat sushi. The sushi was fresh and we enjoyed our selections (rainbow roll, nigiri, small sushi plates and soup/salad). It was great to find out it is a family-run business. The decor is retro, but it is very clean and we were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the food. We were a bit curious how the experience would be at a sushi place in a strip mall in Tucson, but it was way better than what that description sounds like. We seated ourselves at the bar and were placed with plates, chopsticks, and a warmed moist towelette (common in actual Japanese restaurants!) They started us with complimentary edamame and miso. The edamame was pretty clearly defrosted from frozen as it had a mushy bite, but the miso was tasty and had a good temperature. We ordered a Philly roll, Vegas roll, spider roll, and naked scallop roll. We also had the Thai chicken wings, which were just fatty baked wings with a side of Thai sweet and tangy dipping sauce. Everything was made quickly came out in less than 5 minutes. The rolls were 3-star caliber in my opinion. The bill was a bit on the mid to expensive side but great service all around.
