Avis Avo, Brads Beef or Gordi's Gorgonzola is so so good. Our family has gone to Beyond Bread for years (as long as I can remember really) and it's one of our favorite sandwich shops in Tucson. You really can't go wrong with their sandwiches. If it's Wednesday Pepperoni Pretzel Bun Sandwich is AMAZING. It's nothing fancy restaurant wise. Take it to go or dine in. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service is usually fast and good. Gotta try their sandwiches if you're in Tucson.:) read more

I have not been to Beyond Bread in quite sometime. I met up with a friend for a quick bite this morning and had a great experience. Staff was friendly and although they were busy, lines ti order moved quickly and efficiently. There was plenty of seating, and everything was clean and well kept. I had Annie's Addiction-the bread was delicious and the veggies were crispy and fresh. My latte was yummy! We'll be back on a more frequent basis! read more

Enjoyed my lunch at the Campbell location today. They have a cute outdoor heated patio and the weather was beautiful so I set outside. I made a mistake of not displaying the card for my order so I just set it flat on the table and poor server had to look for me for a while. It's a good idea to attach it to the napkin holder so the servers can spot them but since my table didn't have one I didn't even think of it. I ordered half a sandwich with apples on the side. When the cashier asked me if I wanted my apple sliced I didn't think that I will be served pre sliced apples that were hanging out in water for a while, so next time perhaps should get a whole apple. My wife's order came out a completely different sandwich. The remake was made very sloppy. The Po' Boy sandwich was stuffed so full of lettuce the shrimp didn't even fit into the bread. The main issue is that I was served a ROTTEN apple. The outside of the apple was obviously soft and squishy and the core had MOLD! Why is the kitchen staff not trained to catch this? Why is the food expo not trained to catch this? When I brought it up to the manager, she didn't really seem to care. She did offer carrots or chips instead of my rotten and moldy apple but that was really it. read more

I ordered the Betty's Brie 1/2 sandwich with chips. Service was busy but the food arrived quickly. Still unorganized about the line to order. There are plenty of tables inside and at the covered patio. It's warmer out there but in the fall it should be good. Betty's Brie is my favorite with the roast beef, Brie cheese, mayo and tomatoes. The sandwiches have beyond bread are nice. I like that. The restaurant was founded by somebody from Tucson. It's always really popular the way there's not a lot of wait time though the line goes fast. I normally get the same thing I like the breads beef with extra green chilies. It was on the order, but when I got the sandwich, they did not have the extra green chilies so I asked for some of the counter which they were happily obliged unfortunately, they came with seeds and everything, and I had to stay at the table, picking them apart to put on my sandwich and they were cold. Not a big deal but when you're paying $15 for a sandwich, I think some care should be taken to ensure that the order is correct. It tasted great, but maybe not as quite as good as it would've been had the entire sandwich been hot. There's plenty of parking. I didn't visit the restrooms, but they are available. Good overall experience . . . clean, neat, friendly employees and plenty of menu items to choose from. Had their Sunday specialty, "Carol's Cornucopia", a turkey, cranberry sauce, gorgonzola, romaine lettuce on Cranberry Pecan bread sandwich with chips. This was my first time and was anxious to experience their bread. While the sandwich was well prepared with ample, fresh ingredients, this particular sandwich had an excessive amount of cranberry sauce which (as cranberries often do) overpowered the bread. I met a friend here as it's a central location for us. Based on the name, you wouldn't expect many gluten-free options. However, they have gluten free wraps for sandwiches, and the granola is gluten-free. As with other Beyond Bread locations, it's counter service. Place your order at the counter and take a card to the table that identifies your order. I selected the house granola with oat milk and a plain latte with oat milk. Both were good and delivered within 5 minutes of ordering. This location is large with plenty of room to chat with a friend or bring a medium-sized group from work. There are multiple Beyond Breads around town and my favorite is located in a terminal at the Tucson Airport. I like this location too. They have a great menu with many options. My go to is their BLT. It seems that they there's nearly a pound of crispy, flavorful bacon. It's a basic sammy but it never disappoints. This location is great because they have a full bakery. So many dessert options, loaves of bread that you can purchase and meals that are available too. They can get busy so you may have a wait. Pre-order with their preferred app, Toast. It's easy and you can be in and out as quick as a bunny. I need to branch out and expand my horizons, but it's hard to pass up a favorite! Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Visiting Tucson this last weekend for my daughter lacrosse games we needed some lunch. There were plenty of places we could have gone too but I love this place and have always been pleased every time eating here. Since we don't have them in the Phoenix area it was a no brainer. Like changing the bread to something other than what it comes on or adding or removing other items that are on the sandwich. My son and I both ordered the same sandwich which was the Milton's melt but substitute the rye break for a pretzel bun (which is an additional $1). Its turkey, bacon, sharp cheddar, tomato and Russian dressing on rye. Its served hot and it seriously delicious! The sandwiches are served with your choice of one of a variety of options, some for an extra charge. I got the pasta salad which is unique b/c it has corn and peas in it and its very tasty. My son got a small tomato soup as his side. I will say I tried the tomato soup and wasn't a fan. He wasn't a big fan of it either but still ate it. The sandwich is huge! He and I should've shared b/c we both took half the sandwich home. My daughter just got tomato soup and a side of pasta salad and she enjoyed them both. We choice the rosemary bread for her bread side that comes with the soup and she raved about it. The only disappointment was that their featured sandwich wasn't marketed well. Meaning it wasn't until after I ordered my food, and I saw someone walk by with it that I started actively looking for it on the menu and didn't find it. I parked in the back and walked through the enclosed patio to the entry where you order. They have a kiosk where you can put in a takeout order and pay there which was convenient. It didn't take too long to get my order. While you wait, you are tempted by the pastry and desserts and I gave in. I had the Gobble me up salad that is sliced turkey, greens, onions, cranberries, gouda cheese, and spiced nuts. It came with ranch dressing, bread and butter. We went on a packed Saturday morning and the line moved quick and our food got our quick as well! After 5 years and too many visits to remember it's time to post an update! Dropped in after an early morning hike hoping to have the Saturday special Rueben because we were starving! Did you know they offer their entire menu from 7AM to 7PM? that's right, eggs for dinner or a Rueben for brunch! The bad news is the server brought some fake meat abomination - either we screwed up when we ordered, or the person behind the register hit the wrong button, who knows! The good news is our server made it right and pronto we had those delicious pretzel bread sandwiches with the best red cabbage slaw ever! Their selection of breads have been limited to exclude my favorite multigrain. Small point but the replacement is pretty tasteless which was the initial draw to BB. Recently the meats have started tasting like plastic substitute meat, not the delicious pastrami we used to order. But the most disturbing is the lack of customer service and pleasantness. The servers give the impression they are bored and just plain unfriendly especially the younger ones. The one plus is the Ambiance especially since the hotel started bringing in live performances. We used to eat here 4x's a month. Not its down to whether their is live music or not. Went yesterday during a rush. My husband and I had to bus a table that was left a complete mess (food and salad dressing all over it) by 4 people before us in order to have a table to sit at. I have thought this on many occasions at BB- add trash cans so people can clear their table for the most part, and stack their tray. This would go a long way in a better experience. I would prefer the option to clear after myself, especially to help workers in a rush. Instead we bussed a gross table, then because there were no trash cans had to stand toward the counters with arms full of dirty baskets to try and get help. There was a man working there who said "just leave it on the table, we're in a rush" and I told him we had to bus a table in order to sit at a table to which he gave both no help, and no alternative/sanitary place to place the plates. So we stacked the plates on the only surface we could find by the soda fountains after the "to go" worker told us to just put them there. Add trash cans and the experience would be better and faster. Not having trash cans does not make BB a nicer place to dine- it makes it less convenient and frustrating at busy times. Food was good though! read more

Over time, I've noticed a decline--not just in food and beverage quality, but in cleanliness, atmosphere, and staff professionalism. The facilities feel outdated, and the bathrooms were unclean and poorly maintained. But what truly prompted me to write this review was the unacceptable behavior of a manager during my recent visit to the Oracle and Ina location. I was there with international colleagues for a working lunch and ordered a soy latte. Upon tasting it, I immediately realized it was made with full-fat dairy milk. Concerned, I politely brought this to the attention of the gentleman at the front, who identified himself as the manager, Alex Finier. He consulted the staff and returned to tell me it was oat milk. However, when I later asked the young barista directly, she admitted it was, in fact, made with full-fat milk. I asked if a new one could be made with plant-based milk, and she explained that they were having issues with the machine. When I expressed my concern to the manager, hoping for some understanding, his response was dismissive and defensive. He implied it was my fault for not being clear enough and ended the conversation abruptly--as if the matter wasn't worth further attention. When a customer specifies a non-dairy milk--especially given dietary restrictions or allergies--it is not a small oversight. It is a matter of respect, health, and professionalism. And when a $7 latte is made incorrectly, a courteous and solution-focused response should be the bare minimum. What shocked me most was not the mistake, but the complete lack of accountability or care from the manager. His tone and demeanor were condescending, unhelpful, and frankly unacceptable. This is not how loyal customers should be treated, and it certainly does not reflect the standards that made Beyond Bread such a beloved local brand. I should add that there is another gentleman who works there--also named Alex, with a ponytail--who is the complete opposite of the manager. I have interacted with him for several years, and he is consistently helpful, respectful, and an absolute pleasure to speak with. He represents the kind of customer service that builds long-term loyalty. If you are looking to promote within, you might consider choosing your managers from those who demonstrate true class and respect for customers. Regretfully, I will not be returning to any Beyond Bread location. I hope the management reconsiders how they train and empower their staff--and especially their leaders--before more loyal customers make the same decision. read more

So I ordered food online for lunches and went to pick it up on my lunch break and when I got back, the salad I ordered had no dressing with it. The Mac and cheese top wasn't on securely and it leaked all over. I'm afraid to see if there's anything wrong with the sandwich I ordered! While I was there I decided to pick up some pastries and somehow I got ginger snap cookies instead of Russian tea cakes, after confirming with the associate twice that I wanted the Russian tea cakes. I got a Swiss and scallion quiche ($6), a cherry pie ($7.99), a Carol's Cornucopia sandwich (turkey/cranberry) ($13.50), and a large gazpacho ($4). Service was fairly fast and I liked everything, though my friend thought the quiche was rather plain; in fact, in tasted very eggy since there are few other ingredients. My co-worker has been telling me that Beyond's reuben is the best he's ever had, so I had to stop by one afternoon to try it, as well as the cheese kouign aman/star and the tomato soup. I enjoyed the flaky pastry and tomato soup the most. The star wasn't overly sweet, the cheese not too rich/heavy and the pastry was the right amount of buttery crunch. The tomato soup had a good balance of acid and cream; and it was slightly chunky, to let you know real tomatoes are in there. I like my tomato soup to be a little silkier, but overall, the soup was really good. It hit the spot, giving my taste buds and stomach a tiny hug. The reuben was only ok. The Russian dressing cooked off of the bread due to the heat of the sandwich meat, so I didn't really taste much of that. The amount of meat was good, it wasn't so think you couldn't bite into it. The rye bread also had a buttery crunch, very crunchy in fact. Despite the cheese and sauerkraut, the sandwich still tasted on the drier side. They happened to be closing early the day I stopped by - staffing issues I think. Since this was my first visit, I don't know what service is usually like. Overall, it was ok. None of them seemed like they wanted to be at work nor were they very friendly. Either way, their pies looked good enough to get for a second visit. read more

This place never loses its touch. When I last wrote my review 9 yrs ago, they had a sandwich named Stan's Stack on the menu but I don't remember seeing it on the menu when I was visiting Tucson last week. No matter, Avi's Avo turkey sandwich was still on the menu and I had that and substituted the softer parmesan and herb bread instead of the ciabatta. Still a delicious classic after all these years. The next day, I came by and had lunch here but decided to try Frieda's Flight. I think this might be my new favorite sandwich here. Turkey sandwich with sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, lettuce and tomato on a toasted jalapeno cheddar bread. Absolutely divine! You just have to be careful eating it because they really get the bread toasted nice and crispy so make sure to take small bites and the roof of your mouth will thank you for it. read more
