Village Bakehouse is always a win for me. I've purchased pastries to go, dined in for breakfast, enjoyed their coffee drinks and purchased two custom smash cakes from them. The custom ordering process was easy and the price was very reasonable. One thing to keep in mind with Village Bakehouse is that they have limited indoor seating and are often crowded. They do have covered outdoor seating with fans but you are looking at a parking lot so not super picturesque. read more

Our local Camino group met for breakfast today, and sat outside on their nice patio. We were all happy with our food. You order inside at the counter, and get a number, and the food comes out to you. I had a basic breakfast of eggs and potatoes. The scrambled eggs were big and fluffy, and potatoes were well roasted and seasoned. Delicious! The avocado toast that came out also looked delicious! All the food looked great! The baked good were fantastic! We split a pecan cinnamon roll, which was to die for! All the pies and pastries looked fantastic! Great all around experience! read more

This is one of my to go places for cake in Tucson. 6/5! They do amazing cakes - customized or they always have choices for a pick up. Between having ordered a customized cake to picking up cakes from their display cases... I don't have a favorite... each one has been unique and delicious in their own (ps- their icing is amazing). For the quality of their cakes, their prices are totally reasonable. They have additional bakery items ( cookies, pastries etc) that I have tried and I would rate those a 4/5. Good and comparable to some additional amazing bakers in Tucson. I have also dined here for brunch and I would rate it a 3/5. Overall service is great here- staff are attentive and take the time to describe the items. There is a line to order usually- understandably so when you see their bakery case! Indoor and outdoor seating available. Ample parking as it is in a strip mall. read more

Cute little spot with a cozy, homey feel! The bakery smells amazing, the food is delicious and full of flavor, and the staff is friendly. The only downside for me is the ordering setup you order first, find a seat, and then have to pick up your drinks separately. The food is brought to your table, which is nice, but the overall setup isn't my preference. Still, great food, nice ambiance, and definitely worth a visit! read more

When it came time for my wedding, I knew exactly where to order the cupcakes, and they were absolutely perfect. They looked beautiful, tasted incredible, and were a huge hit with our guests. I've been coming here every week for their amazing Morning Glory muffins--they're hands down my husband's favorite and always fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and it's one of those places that always brightens our day. We always bring our pooch with us and they never fail to bring him a bowl of water. It's rare to find a bakery that consistently delivers such high quality and wonderful customer service. OMG! This place...so good! Had the turkey and cran sandwich, the bread was soft, fresh ingredients, oh my...so good! Got the chocolate covered macaroon, ginger snap, molasses cookie, and linser cookie. Seriously, so good. The final thing we tried, the s'mores cupcake. The case was moist, and rich. A handful of indoor tables, gorgeous pastry case, pies (personal and full size) and every single thing I've tried has been scrumptious and fresh. Outdoor seating and pre-orders on pies available. The place has bakery vibes, with several cases full of delicious looking pastries. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the pecan roll and brown sugar crunch roll were delightful. I got the breakfast enchiladas, which were amazing. The enchilada sauce tasted homemade and was rich and balanced. The filling was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was here on March 24th at 2:30 and very disappointed by my experience. I have had this place on my list for ages, and was so excited to bring my aunt with me to try it out. When we arrived, we were the only ones ordering, and took some time to peruse the display. I saw something I wanted and let the person helping us know that I was going to take that item but was still looking at others. They put it away to the side for me. Soon after my aunt did the same thing. We both ended up getting a few things from the case, and when it was time to check out, they had put all of our baked goods into one box. We casually let them know that we were actually going to be paying separate and needed different boxes, and the response was so rude.. argumentative even I would say, and for no reason since we were not upset. He went into this spill about how he didn't know we were separate because we were both saying things we wanted. (It really felt like.we're telling you now so what's the big deal? Also just as good customer service, why not have asked? ) we just sat there really like ".. okay well we are separate.." He went and got a box tossing it towards us to split ourselves and dramatically pushed each button he needed to delete four of the items before ringing me up with a very dry and stoic demeanor. He did the same for my aunt. We both ignored it, but were very taken back. I was going to ask to speak to someone but chose to let it go and choose peace lol. We ended up ordering and finishing our meal, and really liking the pastries (and my sweet hot ham sandwich), but with that kind of customer service we will not be back. read more

Quality pastries and desserts. Cozy café offers breakfast and lunches but I choose to take my pastry to go. Grabbed a cake from the display case and it was delicious. Looking forward to put next visit for their frsh made pies I've been coming here for over 15 years. Have always been greeted and Thanked for my visit. When I ordered my wedding cake 6 years the experience was easy and stress free. I knew what I wanted and didn't change anything from my initial order. Every one had cake at our wedding, 2 slices to be exact. This bakery has celebrated birthdays, babies, weddings,anniversaries, heavenly birthdays and just because we want cake occasions. Again don't rush your visit. Enjoy and yes enter in one door and out the other end keeps the flow smooth. read more

Village bakehouse is a family run, bakery and restaurant that's open for breakfast and lunch. I first learned about village big house after an employee at another store told us that they had the best cinnamon rolls in town. I immediately made it my mission to get cinnamon rolls and they are delicious. However, they have pies cupcakes, cookies, muffins, and many other delicious bake goods. My mom knows that if I need to a little pick me up that if we go there, I'm gonna leave filled with joy. Today we had lunch after our doctors appointment and as a special treat, she told me I could pick any dessert I wanted. I left with a pink champagne cupcake. I just know the rest of my day is gonna be awesome because of that cupcake. They have inside and outside seating but seating is very limited inside. they make a wide variety of drinks, including fruit smoothies. They sell tea, coffee, lattes, Italian soda and other beverages that are very appealing. I've been a loyal customer for 10 years or more and I feel like the best pies in town come from here. Sometimes there could be a line out the door because it is a modest space inside. The owner, her spouse and other family members provide excellent service. Much of the fear that they offer for meals is omelettes croissant sandwiches French toast today for the first time for lunch, I got a burger. Usually at lunch I get a salad or a turkey and bacon sandwich on fancy bread. Just be aware that it's a bakery so meals are gonna be bread focused but they're usually very delicious. This was a spot recommended to us by a friend. We decided to try out breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito - it was spicy with no other flavor... I was quite disappointed. The pancakes and French toast were good. The highlight here was definitely the "bakery" side - we tried the eclair, sprinkle doodle cookie, magic bar, cake pops, and funfetti sprinkle cupcake. The cookie was a bit dry but everything else from the bakery was great! The only places to really sit are outside and in the Tucson heat, that isn't always fun. The service was ok - nothing especially noteworthy in the way of service, but nothing bad. We will visit again for the baked goods but will pass on having breakfast there next time. read more

While my car was being serviced nearby, I dropped in here for a post-breakfast dessert. I had a 4" fruit tart ($5.15) and a medium-sized hot chai ($4.35). Both were good. However, both items rang up at a different price than the one posted. They need to do a better job of synching up the cash register with the prices posted in-store, online, and on the menus. Wow, so many bakery goodies and the place was packed in the morning. They have a few gluten free options: cookies, macaron type offerings and an almond horn - which I tried, this is a eggs white type pastry with almond paste, coated with almonds and dipped in chocolate- very moist on the inside and crunchy outside, excellent. My fiance and I were pretty disappointed with Village Bakehouse. I am surprised based on the high reviews they have. We ordered a Coconut Cream pie for Thanksgiving pickup. It cost $30 for a 10" deep dish pie. We decided to get it since we thought it should be good for that price! We were very disappointed however. The pickup process was fine but the box they provided was completely ridiculous. A flimsy little cardboard box for a heavy pie. Using it for transport was not going to work so we had a buy a cake carrier from Walmart. When we finally got to try the pie it was a major let down. The filling was very bland with almost no coconut flavor. The cream on top was split and not very good. The crust was soggy and almost non-existent. Overall for the crazy prices they charge and the disappointment as a result we most likely will not be back. read more

Fun cafe ! Order at the counter and pass by about 50 delicious looking pastries and cakes! We got a few variety of them and they were reasonably priced and yummy. They also have other breakfast plates, we just had the pasties. Coffee drinks also, but they were not very good. Staff were super friendly and made it a short and enjoyable experience. read more

Update: I feel like this year has been the year I've really taken to Village Bakehouse for special Occasions. My most recent order what for my daughters first birthday. I ordered a custom birthday cake and cookies and they were both perfect! I met with a manager to discuss my vision and followed up with some inspiration photos and everything turned out great. The cake was vanilla with lemon buttercream. It wasn't too sweet. And the sugar cookies were divine. They were more like a shortbread and not too sweet either which is exactly what I hoped for. Both were a hit. Just love village Bakehouse. They're so easy to work with and follow through. read more

Had a delicious brunch with friends here today! At 1045 on a Saturday we were able to get a table on the patio and even though the line went outside it went fast. Lots of pastries to choose from and the staff were on top of it despite how busy it was. I got the grilled turkey Brie sandwich and a chai tea latte. Both were delicious and I loved that the sandwich was on a garlic bread. My friend got breakfast tacos that she thought were okay and my other friend got one of the vegetarian sandwiches and enjoyed it. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Paulette G.

Paulette is from Buffalo New York where she grew up on a farm with her 7 sisters and her Mom. She attended culinary school and started working at a private club in Buffalo. Her love is pastry, so when she moved to Tucson she found a position as a pastry chef where she developed her skills. After 15 years in that position she joined the Village Bakehouse team in 1997 as manager, and bought the store in 2002. During this time she married Bruce also from Buffalo and had two boys, they settled in Oro Valley.

All our food was well prepared and there were plenty of left overs. My mocha cold brew was full of flavor and not too sweet with lots of that coffee flavor shining through. They have outdoor seating, which early in the morning is fine, but id avoid in the summer, which will likely mean you'll be waiting, depending on the time. Oh! I forgot to mention, they have very good drinks. They really are intentional about the blend of flavors, they have a little something for everyone. All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough. As I inquired about the pricing, hoping to finalize my decision, the manager abruptly stated that he couldn't provide me with a price. This was incredibly frustrating, as I had expected to receive a quote during the call. When I asked when I could expect a call back with the pricing information, he questioned why I was in a hurry and even had the audacity to ask if I was considering other bakeries. This interaction left me feeling disheartened and unappreciated as a potential customer. Me and my sister stopped in for a late lunch one afternoon while shopping and were greeted by a sign to grab a menu and order at the counter. You're then in line in front of deliciously filled dessert case. We each order half a sandwich and salad. We found a clean open table and we're delivered our food in a timely manner. I ordered the half blt and side salad. The bacon in the blt was thick and cooked perfectly and the side salad had enough topping for a small salad. After long deciding I ending up getting a grandmothers ginger molasses cookie which was huge in size. It was soft and had sugar sprinkles on top. Over all it was a decent spot for a quick bite with a variety of baked good options and a decent menu size with price being average for a salad and sandwich combo. Pros: Nice Area (location) the food is descent nothing to brag about. I would compare it to Quiznos. Cons: Too expensive. I guess they have to compensate for them bringing your food to the table. The Customer service I experience there was not that great, and I did experience an employee there talk bad about a customer in front of me, so that was not professional. If you like to pay for over priced food where you can feel they are stereotyping you when you walk in the door, this is the place to go. It's right in the shopping center where Trader Joes is. The food and pastries are always very good. The service is just okay. If you want to eat breakfast on the patio and enjoy the fresh air, be prepared for the libtard infestation. That means they spend the whole morning rearranging the patio furniture (vet noisy and annoying) they talk very loudly and bring their small children who are always poorly behaved. The sandwich was really yummy and great for summer. Ordering the first round is at the bar counter but once you are seated after your first order you can order more from the staff. I hear that there is a line to order at the more popular times but there was not a line when I was there. They had lots of great looking baked good. One was vegan and gluten free. Great place to have food at while visiting the Tucson Museum of Art. They share a small free parking lot. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! We have been coming here for over ten years, either as a couple or when my work has events. They can be a little pricy, but it is an amazing location with charm. There is interior and outside seating. You order at the counter with menus provided to review. You WILL be tempted by the pastries. It is mostly sandwiches and salads...and pastry. The drinks are soft drinks, teas and limited alcohol. Food is always well presented, and they do accommodate changes. Staff are friendly but also busy. Did I mention the charm, the adobe rooms have tables and the decor bring the experience together. It can be loud at times, but not overwhelming. Definitely visit, especially if doing the courthouse tour, the Presidio or Old Town shops, other hidden downtown gems.

Laverna's is a small hole in the wall breakfast/brunch place. They close at 2p, we got there about…read more1p. The staff was fantastic and didn't seem angry we came in close to closing. They provided friendly attentive service. I ordered the ruben sandwich. The food was very basic but filling. The fries were kind of bland. I had to continue to add salt and ketcup for flavor. The sandwich was decent. My favorite part about this spot is it seemed like a local eatery and the friendly staff.
