So far i've been here twice and both times the drinks have knocked me off my feet! I'm completely in love with Bella, where ya been loca?, a white chocolate latte, off of the themed twilight menu and it breaks my heart it's not permanent!! La bandera is a delicious cinnamon cherry matcha. The other Employees are so nice and helpful. Seems like a great place to sit down and study and they even have a small second story area too! The large is a giant deli cup that you get a discount on your next drink if you bring it back! Can't wait to try more :)
First time in, loved the vibes and the offerings! I got a maple pecan scone and a cold brew and they were very gracious when I took the wrong drink on accident. My friend got a matcha, not realizing the bucket serving size, but said it was delicious! I will definitely be back to try more!
The coffee, staff, and food are all am here. I went in early Tuesday morning and they had some amazing drink choices. I ordered the Cafe Tubac and it was so tasty along with the cherry lime muffin, keep those on the menu please so good. They use Decibel coffee and they are one of my favs. I will definitely be back for more morning goodness.
Nice cafe! I like that it's on a corner and on 4th Ave. You can find street parking. It's fairly large inside and there were plenty of seats. The staff was friendly. We came for their Nacho Libre themed treats. The lattes and pastries were good. However, what was advertised on Instagram was not the same in person. I'm pretty disappointed with that. I looked forward to the pretty fun corn husk aesthetic but got a giant bucket cup thing instead. Fun but now I know for next time they do something themed.
I am so happy this spot has opened. Came here twice now and I am satisfied. The bakery is very spacious and clean. There are a lot of tables for studying and the vibe here is very chill. I have gotten matcha scone, Ube scone, and matcha chocolate muffin, which are all well done. They don't over sugar their pastry and everything tastes very freshly done with fluffiness. I tried their most recent raspberry and chocolate croissant and it is very good I have also tried their breakfast sandwich and omgggggggggggg. It is one of my fav in Tucson. As you can see in my picture, it is big and will def fill you up. The egg is made well and creamy texture. The whole sandwich tastes very fresh without any chemicals, which is why I gave this spot a 5 star. I value freshness without much additives and preservatives and I feel this bakery made everything fresh and yummy. I tried their strawberry matcha and latte. Both taste very good. Their service is great and friendly. I highly recommend this spot to anyone.
Absolutely love this place. It was recommended by someone who is a true Tucsonan and I always trust her when it comes to Tucson recs. The place is very spacious, nice counter facing the street with outlet! The staff was soooooooo friendly and very welcoming. And also I love that they open til 7pm, which is kind of rare for a bakery. I had an almond croissant and it was delicious! Definitely adding this to the list of my fav bakeries in Tucson!
I came across this spot online and based on the pictures, I decided to make the drive last weekend to try their coffee and a pastry. Unfortunately, I didn't end up trying the coffee. It's a really cool and chill spot. A lot of seating, the staff seemed nice, and all the pastries looked amazing. However, there wasn't a menu displayed on the wall or a physical menu to look at while ordering. The staff mentioned that they have pretty much every syrup available but I personally needed a menu to help me decide what to get. I ended up grabbing a cinnamon roll to go. It was huge and really good. I think this place will be great. I can definitely see it being a good spot to study, work, or read at. I hope to come back in the future and try it again sometime.
I had never been to 1989 Bakehouse before today. As someone from the Midwest I have high expectations for customer service. The staff at 1989 is incredible. Their knowledge of the menu, patience for customers, and overall hospitality was like anything I've seen before. I was there for the Haus of Macs workshop filming content. As a non coffee drinker I was pleased with my The Haus Latte a raspberry cheesecake latte I will be back soon to try a cinnamon roll.
My sister and I went here for breakfast. All of the employees were so friendly, polite, and helpful. The food was delicious and the coffee is some of the best I've had in Tucson. I also loved that they played music, but not too loud. This could be a great place to hang out if you have work to do. I'll definitely be returning!

The vibes are everything. They have an upper level where they display art of local artist. So much room to sit and hand out I honestly see myself hanging out working remotely here. The pastries are delicious and love they offer GF scones. I'll definitely be back! 10/10 recommend
Went there in the evening to get some pastries for a late evening sugar craving. The space is larger than it looks from the outside with ample seating. It was bright and had fun pop of pink seats. Service was welcoming and friendly. The pastries were okay but a bit drier than expected ( they mentioned several times that everything is baked freshly daily). I love me a kouign-amann... especially the sugar in the middle of a caramelized crust... but this was not it. Barely had the buttery caramelized crust and I could barely taste any sugar folded it. The cruffin was okay but a bit on the dry end. The coffee cake was good and I particularly liked the frosting. They do make in- house syrups and the vanilla latte I got was decent. Parking can be challenging as there are limited street parking spots and if available, you do pay... but luckily Tucson's parking rates are very reasonable.
Finally got to try the big cinnamon roll and large drink cups that I kept hearing about this place! There is an iced latte menu that you can order from and your drink comes in a big to go container and if you bring it back for your next visit, you'll receive 5% off! I chose to try the La Rosa which satisfied the matcha horchata craving I've been having, creamy and refreshing! I also tried the tofu avocado toast since I haven't tried anything like that before and it was pretty good - I like that they used tajin from another favorite local business Dirty T Tamarindo! Bought the Sonoran Oink sandwich to go for my husband and he said he really enjoyed it as well, highlighting the milky buns that were used. The inside is surprisingly big with plenty of seats but parking seems like it could be difficult since it's mainly street parking and you have to make sure to avoid the permit only areas - I found parking pretty easily on a Friday morning though. Staff was also super friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to bring my cup back and try a different drink!
Super cute coffee shop! Love the decor inside. I got a banana bread latte which did taste like banana bread but their espresso is not my favorite because I felt it was a bit acidic. Their lattes come with 4 shots of espresso and are massive and well worth the price ~$9. I got a s'mores scone which was massive and delicious! My friend got a matcha which she also loved!

I was very excited to try this place since I'd spent years going to the cafes that were previously in this location. I ended up ordering way too many things because I could not decide, but nothing disappointed! It's amazing the variety they have to choose from. Since I had no idea what most things were, I had lot of questions. I was nervous about taking the time from the staff because I went on a busy weekend morning. However, the person who worked with me was so incredibly friendly and never made me feel rushed to make a decision. She also explained some of the characteristics of their style of baking (European, I believe she mentioned, although I can't remember which country in Europe she specified), which was super-informative and educational. I took everything to go so I can't comment on the overall ambiance in terms of what it was like to stay there to eat. I look forward to returning to try more food, because it seems like they rotate items all the time and have new specials regularly. If you like baked goods of all kinds, I'd definitely recommend heading over. There's likely to be more than one option that will be to your liking! read more

I was drawn here by the Nacho Libre menu. I've never actually seen it but I love a theme and this one was too silly to pass up. Just our luck that this happened to coincide with some partnership between Wells Fargo and the Chamber of Commerce so we got a $10 gift to use on our next visit. Yay! I tried the Esqueleto which was a sweet corn latte and the mazapan concha while my husband had a cherry horchata. The drinks were huge! They serve them in plastic takeout containers. This didn't necessarily dilute the quality but it was a little too much for me. The mazapan concha was good flavor wise but the presentation was a bit of a miss. The concha shell totally crumbled off. To make up for the miss here I got a Mexican sugar cookie to go and this was BOMB. Don't skip the cookies here. There's lots of seating inside but not much parking, it's only paid street parking as far as I could tell. read more

It is unassuming to the untrained eye! ;) my first instinct is to always check the menu online and they had that setup with current pricing but no pictures. NO PROBLEM. The menu and items sounded delicious + I was sold on the AWARD WINNING COOKIES part. We were looking for mainly breakfast but upon arrival to the counter I was told they serve the lunch items as well! The young man at the counter I believe his name is Brevan (or Brendan I may have gotten that wrong please forgive me) very sweet soul recommended the cinnamon roll which we'll have to come back and try sometime. We ordered the fluffy pancakes (3 to the stack comes with berry medley compost, YUMM) breakfast sandwhich (what McDonald's THINK they taste/look like!) and the triple chocolate cookie (per the young mans recommendation) WOW. The cookies are made with different chocolates one of them being LAYERED underneath sed cookie.... It's beautiful Belgian chocolately goodness!! I am so very delighted to have stopped here on a whim, the best places tend to come from me just deciding to go for it. This is a small shop with different lattes and drinks although we didn't try any coffee I'm sure it's good! The service was kind and totally the best place to feed your inner Cookie Monster. Award winning is correct, I am on no judging panel but I give all the accolades to this hidden gem. If you are ever near here stop by and check them out you will not regret it! They charged $2 for a decaf with oat milk and vanilla latte. For a small size! It cost $10.33. Expensive! I will never go back. A decaf latte usually costs about the same as a regular latte, which is typically $4.50 to $6.50 for a standard size at major coffee chains, with many cafes charging an extra $0.50 to $0.80 for decaf espresso. read more

Amazing customer service. This isnt just a bakery. They offer yummy breakfast, fresh steeped teas, and of course the freshly baked sour dough bread. It was our first time here. We had to get a few baked items, cinnamon roll, brownie and the Mexican chocolate cookie. The ambience is wonderful. read more

Returned to my favorite coffee shop and tried a new scone. The Banana fosters scone was delicious with banana flavor throughout the scone. 1 scone can feed two and it's totally worth it. Was excited to get the reusable container for my return visits read more

I got the breakfast sandwich (with marinated chicken), coconut cup cake, dubai chocolate double baked croissant, raspberry scone (forgive me i don't remember the actual names). Everything was delicious, chicken was juicy, and i loved the sauce they put on the sandwich, was a solid size too. Pastries were killer, my favorite was the coconut cupcake, which was super balanced and not overly sweet, i could eat this as a sheet cake! service was super helpful and welcoming. the space is gorgeous. read more

Was the only one in there one morning, i got my food, sat down and the people working decided to have like a 10 minute conversation about like insects at other places they've worked and the unwell conditions of those places. Drove an hour to come here after hearing all the good reviews! I waited until I was almost home to open the box and was pretty disappointed to find out I was given 3 peanut butter cookies instead of the 3 chocolate chip cookies I had ordered (luckily none of us have a peanut allergy). The flavors were amazing and we enjoyed the pastries, just bummed about being given the wrong items after the drive. This is my reminder to check the box/bag before I leave anywhere from now on. read more

Best bakery in the U of A area! Just opened and the breakfast sandwiches are amazing. Coffee is good too (and I'm picky about coffee). The baked goods and pastries are delicious! They open as 6:30 for breakfast - finally a place that opens early enough for me to eat with my son before he bikes to school! We live 2 blocks away, such a great addition to the neighborhood. Locally owned. Highly recommend this place! read more
