    Blueberry lemon scone

My sister and I went here for breakfast. All of the employees were so friendly, polite, and helpful. The food was delicious and the coffee is some of the best I've had in Tucson. I also loved that they played music, but not too loud. This could be a great place to hang out if you have work to do. I'll definitely be returning!

I am so happy this spot has opened. Came here twice now and I am satisfied. The bakery is very spacious and clean. There are a lot of tables for studying and the vibe here is very chill. I have gotten matcha scone, Ube scone, and matcha chocolate muffin, which are all well done. They don't over sugar their pastry and everything tastes very freshly done with fluffiness. I tried their most recent raspberry and chocolate croissant and it is very good I have also tried their breakfast sandwich and omgggggggggggg. It is one of my fav in Tucson. As you can see in my picture, it is big and will def fill you up. The egg is made well and creamy texture. The whole sandwich tastes very fresh without any chemicals, which is why I gave this spot a 5 star. I value freshness without much additives and preservatives and I feel this bakery made everything fresh and yummy. I tried their strawberry matcha and latte. Both taste very good. Their service is great and friendly. I highly recommend this spot to anyone.

Returned to my favorite coffee shop and tried a new scone. The Banana fosters scone was delicious with banana flavor throughout the scone. 1 scone can feed two and it's totally worth it. Was excited to get the reusable container for my return visits

Absolutely love this place. It was recommended by someone who is a true Tucsonan and I always trust her when it comes to Tucson recs. The place is very spacious, nice counter facing the street with outlet! The staff was soooooooo friendly and very welcoming. And also I love that they open til 7pm, which is kind of rare for a bakery. I had an almond croissant and it was delicious! Definitely adding this to the list of my fav bakeries in Tucson!

I came across this spot online and based on the pictures, I decided to make the drive last weekend to try their coffee and a pastry. Unfortunately, I didn't end up trying the coffee. It's a really cool and chill spot. A lot of seating, the staff seemed nice, and all the pastries looked amazing. However, there wasn't a menu displayed on the wall or a physical menu to look at while ordering. The staff mentioned that they have pretty much every syrup available but I personally needed a menu to help me decide what to get. I ended up grabbing a cinnamon roll to go. It was huge and really good. I think this place will be great. I can definitely see it being a good spot to study, work, or read at. I hope to come back in the future and try it again sometime.

I came to the grand opening of 1989 bake house bc I've always been a fan of their cookies and pastries since discovering them at farmers markets! I'm so happy they now opened a location. The vibes are everything. They have an upper level where they display art of local artist. So much room to sit and hand out I honestly see myself hanging out working remotely here. The pastries are delicious and love they offer GF scones. I'll definitely be back! 10/10 recommend

Went there in the evening to get some pastries for a late evening sugar craving. The space is larger than it looks from the outside with ample seating. It was bright and had fun pop of pink seats. Service was welcoming and friendly. The pastries were okay but a bit drier than expected ( they mentioned several times that everything is baked freshly daily). I love me a kouign-amann... especially the sugar in the middle of a caramelized crust... but this was not it. Barely had the buttery caramelized crust and I could barely taste any sugar folded it. The cruffin was okay but a bit on the dry end. The coffee cake was good and I particularly liked the frosting. They do make in- house syrups and the vanilla latte I got was decent. Parking can be challenging as there are limited street parking spots and if available, you do pay... but luckily Tucson's parking rates are very reasonable.

They charged $2 for a decaf with oat milk and vanilla latte. For a small size! It cost $10.33. Expensive! I will never go back. A decaf latte usually costs about the same as a regular latte, which is typically $4.50 to $6.50 for a standard size at major coffee chains, with many cafes charging an extra $0.50 to $0.80 for decaf espresso.

Bottom of my cookie is sweetly coated with BELGIAN CHOCOLATE!! I swear the cookie is BIG but I couldn't get the full picture.

It is unassuming to the untrained eye! ;) my first instinct is to always check the menu online and they had that setup with current pricing but no pictures. NO PROBLEM. The menu and items sounded delicious + I was sold on the AWARD WINNING COOKIES part. We were looking for mainly breakfast but upon arrival to the counter I was told they serve the lunch items as well! The young man at the counter I believe his name is Brevan (or Brendan I may have gotten that wrong please forgive me) very sweet soul recommended the cinnamon roll which we'll have to come back and try sometime. We ordered the fluffy pancakes (3 to the stack comes with berry medley compost, YUMM) breakfast sandwhich (what McDonald's THINK they taste/look like!) and the triple chocolate cookie (per the young mans recommendation) WOW. The cookies are made with different chocolates one of them being LAYERED underneath sed cookie.... It's beautiful Belgian chocolately goodness!! I am so very delighted to have stopped here on a whim, the best places tend to come from me just deciding to go for it. This is a small shop with different lattes and drinks although we didn't try any coffee I'm sure it's good! The service was kind and totally the best place to feed your inner Cookie Monster. Award winning is correct, I am on no judging panel but I give all the accolades to this hidden gem. If you are ever near here stop by and check them out you will not regret it! Ask for recommendations and get your taste buds ready. I tried to take a picture of my full cookie but I couldn't.... Stop and taste for yourself you will see why!!

Was the only one in there one morning, i got my food, sat down and the people working decided to have like a 10 minute conversation about like insects at other places they've worked and the unwell conditions of those places. I was so grossed out it made me want to leave. Please be more mindful

I loved this place! We ordered our coffees and the chicken salad, however, we already paid and they were out of chicken so they let us pick a different meal with a free bakery item! Very sweet people, great hospitality as well as food, drinks and scenery!

So disappointing!!! Creme brulee with no brûlée??? & a very low quality matcha. Ordered a creme brûlée, matcha & a cookie & paid $30!!! That is insane. Service was okay

Learning that the building is over 140 years old made the experience even more special. The moment we walked in, it felt like stepping into a cozy European café, colorful walls, artwork everywhere, an open garden patio, and an inviting open kitchen and dining space. The ambiance alone is a solid 10/10. The setup is casual: order at the counter, then find a table. They offer a wide variety of food and drinks, and the service was warm and welcoming. For drinks, we tried the sparkling lemonade, mimosa, and coffee all excellent choices. For food, we ordered the Market Skillet and French Toast. The French Toast was the star of the meal. The bread was soft and perfectly cooked, topped generously with pineapple, making every bite delicious. The Market Skillet, however, was a bit disappointing. It was heavily loaded with potatoes and lacked the balance of vegetables we were expecting. It ended up feeling like a plate of potatoes with very little else mixed in. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a unique atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. We'd definitely return especially for the French Toast and the ambiance.

We so rarely encounter attitude in Tucson, that our experience at your coffee shop on Saturday…read morereally took us aback. All 4 of us have extensive experience in the hospitality industry and appreciate the stresses. Since we are unfailingly friendly customers, as so many servers are, & because there were only 6 other customers at your coffee shop at the time, sharing our experience is warranted. We visited the Main Gate shop just after noon on Saturday, 4/18. The barista was wearing a cap & O'Neill-branded t-shirt; he has a salt & pepper beard. Requesting my cappuccino in a ceramic cup, he stated, with obvious exasperation, "You can just say 'for here'." He was also visibly irritated when we requested 3 Dirty Chais of various sizes & shot strength, as if this request was overly complicated. We would have ordered food, but he was so unwelcoming we did not. Nor did we linger. We have visited this location other times and have only been treated warmly. Clearly this barista does not represent the customer service your employees normally provide. You can train people to make a good coffee. Training them to be pleasant is more complicated & best documented. Hence, this review. An unpleasant experience like this has no place in Tucson. It's not who we are & it's not who you are either, I know. We hope this gentleman finds another line of work soon

The line was the usual long line and with my dog, was much better as people talk and pet dogs in line and it went fairly fast. The line was in shade with the nearby tree so it made it that much better. The ambiance is the misters around that are welcomed by all, the pretty tree and greenery and fencing and signage they have used to decorate this small outdoor place so well. The shaded and covered tables outside had various chairs and enough space for people to rotate in and out- esp with our dogs that love the cool brick to lie on:) Now, the absolute best part is the food- still amazingly worth waiting for and delicious!! I got the burrito( basic has potato, egg, beans , cheese) and the protein I added was bacon and extra was guac. Also got the 16oz Dirty Chai. My friend came for first time and was surprised to open her order and find two burritos- I knew and wanted to see her face- she loved the taste and the fact she had lunch or dinner later as one truly is so full of deliciousness- it fills you up! We each had one we took home ! This place- just a treat for anyone wanting fantastic and pure local service and food! Highly recommend!!!

When I finally moved, I thought the hardest part would be adding 30 minutes to my commute. It wasn't. It was losing that daily routine of walking into a place that feels so real and personal. Talega isn't just a coffee shop. It feels intimate in a way that's hard to find now. You can tell Tyler & Rene actually care. Not just about the coffee, but about the people who come in and the community around them. Nothing about it feels transactional.
