I've been wanting to check out Cal's Bake Shop for a while and finally stopped by -- and it did not disappoint. I ordered a concha, a raspberry cookie donut, and a latte, and everything was so good. The concha was soft, fresh, and had that perfect lightly sweet crumb on top. The raspberry cookie donut was honestly my favorite -- super unique with great flavor and the perfect texture. And the latte paired perfectly with the pastries. The shop itself felt really cozy and welcoming, and you can tell everything is made with care. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to when I'm craving a good pastry and coffee.

    Omg!!!!! Just stop it! Haha!

I feel a little late to the game...but, today I finally went in to Cal's and....it was OUTSTANDING! They are located in the old Rocco's pizza/wing spot on Broadway. The parking is easy with lots of spaces. I've heard such fantastic things about their baked goods, specially, their cronuts, so I decided to try the July flavor. Absolutely, delicious! I've had cronuts in the past but nothing like Cal's, light, airy flavorful, and perfect frosting. They do sell out almost daily, so going early is a must. Also, they sell local coffee, and make various drinks. I tried the horchata latte, and it was just perfect! Can't wait to head back in to this fun spot for more!

I got a Biscoff cinnamon roll. It was severely lacking and I would pass on this item. It was dry and pretty bland. The bread needed something equivalent to salt/butter. I was surprised at how poor this tasted bc their brioche donuts are AMAZING.

I've never had cronuts or brioche donuts before visiting Cal's and they are absolutely delicious. Cal's carries such unique flavors and mostly all options are vegan too!! My faves so far are their maple Cronut and chocolate dipped conchas. The Ube Latte is one of the better Ube lattes I've had, and I also enjoy the horchata latte too. The vanilla latte was not sweet enough for my taste personally, but if that's your thing then I still recommend (: don't forget to double check their store hours! They are open most mornings and open up again for nights during weekends. There are a couple booths and tables inside plus shaded tables in the patio too.

Visited Cal's Bakeshop via a Yelp event! Had a fabulous time! From the minute you walk in the decor makes you feel like you're walking in to a small time diner that sells pastries! I had three donuts, and they were amazing! The fact that the donuts are vegan was a nice surprise! I'm not vegan but these tasted really good! They do have non vegan but mostly all donuts are vegan. I had the brioche pineapple cheesecake donut...for someone who doesn't like donut fillings...this was yummy!! Also, had a traditional Concha and a cronut blackberry/lime cronut (seasonal). All good! I even bought some donuts to take home! The owner was at the event and he shared his story! Great story, and he and his staff were welcoming! Quaint place, but I do recommend fans on outside patio, especially in warmer months. Only reason I gave it a 4 star rating. Otherwise, I will definitely be back!

Staff are friendly and happy to be there, donuts exceeded my expectations! I love that they did a deal for national do ut day if you buy a drink. Will definitely be back!!!

Unfortunately, I think the doughnuts didn't live up to my expectation. They're overpriced and you can taste the oil, which doesn't fit my taste buds. Also, there were no prices posted anywhere in the store, and the choices were very limited.

This doughnut shop is so good! You definitely need to make sure you get there when they open so you can pick from their assortment, since they do sell out. The staff are super friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious! They also have a fun covered patio that is perfect for sitting outside and enjoying your treats.

The Bakeshop is located at the old Rocco's, so it does have some seating inside and some outdoor seating. We got there close to 10 am (on Mother's Day) and almost all the pastries were sold out. But what they had was really good and there were vegan options too. They gave out a small bundle of beautiful flowers or lavender from Thistle to the moms, which was a really thoughtful touch. They do reopen at 5 pm so you can always come back later.

In front : mango tajin cronut( june flavor ) , middle: plain glazed brioche doughnut and in the back blackberry lime cronut (june flavor)

I stopped in recently to catch the June flavors before they switch and was super impressed ! I have been a follower on instagram but this was my first time in. I love that they took over the old Rocco's Pizza spot keeping the sign out front but revamping it with Cal's logo and giving the whole place a fresh vibe. The parking lot is great and a decent size. The interior is sleek and cool. I love the glass pastry case right as you walk in and the art wall in the back. Theres some seating indoors and a closed in patio on the side as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Got a chance to meet Cal himself , super nice guy! And OMG the doughnuts.. so good and sweet and just overall delicious and Vegan!!! I got the two June cronuts (mango tajin & blackberry lime ) both slap AND I even ate the glazed brioche the next day and it was still amazing. I will definitely be back and can't wait to see the July flavors ! Check this place out if you haven't yet!

First time stopping in to the Cals Bakeshop, but not the first time I've enjoyed the pastries and baked goods. Finally, as I did some work nearby at the next door local coffee shop, I stopped in for some pastries to go and was very happy with what I got. And! I was pleasantly surprised with the space! Lots of room and seemingly great for a work spot, meet up, etc. great variety of items and plenty vegan. Service was good.

    Trevor C.

I love those Cronuts! After trying a multitude of different kinds I have to say that the basic cinnamon and sugar Cronuts are definitely the best! Light, flaky and very delicious. Great service with a nice outside patio area.

    A record player!

I finally stopped in to try Cal's this morning and got one of the 5 year anniversary cronuts! Oh my goodness, my mouth was watering!! It was incredibly flaky and delicious! It just melted on my tongue! Defiantly top cronut I've ever had! The space is cute too! There's indoor and outdoor seating and a real record player!

I'm so happy to have found this place ! You order at the counter and there is plenty of seating. I ordered the tri-color Vietnamese dessert called Chè Ba Mau, which translates literally to tri-color dessert. Chè is a traditional category of Vietnamese desserts that can range from sweet soups to puddings, and it often combines various beans, jellies, and fruits with coconut milk and shaved ice, traditionally. This particular one here consists of coconut milk, pandan agar jelly, red beans, and water chestnut coated in tapioca. The hubby ordered the grass jelly and coconut milk dessert. The grass jelly has a mild herbal depth and it is balanced beautifully by the smooth, lightly sweet coconut milk. All 4 of us have extensive experience in the hospitality industry and appreciate the stresses. Since we are unfailingly friendly customers, as so many servers are, & because there were only 6 other customers at your coffee shop at the time, sharing our experience is warranted. We visited the Main Gate shop just after noon on Saturday, 4/18. The barista was wearing a cap & O'Neill-branded t-shirt; he has a salt & pepper beard. Requesting my cappuccino in a ceramic cup, he stated, with obvious exasperation, "You can just say 'for here'." He was also visibly irritated when we requested 3 Dirty Chais of various sizes & shot strength, as if this request was overly complicated. We would have ordered food, but he was so unwelcoming we did not. Nor did we linger. We have visited this location other times and have only been treated warmly. Clearly this barista does not represent the customer service your employees normally provide. You can train people to make a good coffee. Training them to be pleasant is more complicated & best documented. Hence, this review. An unpleasant experience like this has no place in Tucson. It's not who we are & it's not who you are either, I know. We hope this gentleman finds another line of work soon

For drinks, we tried the sparkling lemonade, mimosa, and coffee all excellent choices. For food, we ordered the Market Skillet and French Toast. The French Toast was the star of the meal. The bread was soft and perfectly cooked, topped generously with pineapple, making every bite delicious. The Market Skillet, however, was a bit disappointing. It was heavily loaded with potatoes and lacked the balance of vegetables we were expecting. It ended up feeling like a plate of potatoes with very little else mixed in. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a unique atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. We'd definitely return especially for the French Toast and the ambiance.
