First time in Tucson. Went in on Sunday afternoon. Glad to see they still had donuts in the cabinet. But were they going to be any good? No. They were wonderful! How this place gets so many good reviews, went in for a half a dozen donuts ( priced $6.85) and ended up paying $11.22 just under what you would pay for a dozen donuts ( $12.35 according to their pricing). When I questioned it, she said it was because each donut is priced separately. So why or how would you post for a 1/2 or dozen pricing? I ordered a honeydew with black boba. Only one size (just so you know). I read the menu as I was waiting for my drink. I noticed verbiage that said: "$1.50 charge for less ice & $2.00 charge for no ice" Excessive but I didn't think much of it. Until I got my drink. Look at the picture! ICE all the way to the top. I finished my drink in a few sips. So much ice that I couldn't even suck up the boba. Rip off. Full disclosure: I have never had a Donut Wheel donut. I generally do not like sweets and am not a fan of donuts. So it is nothing against Donut Wheel. Not at all. So, I have been multiple times, always to take a dozen or so donuts in for my office mates. I have found that people lose their minds over these donuts! They will have two and look at the nearly empty box, restraining themselves because -- oh my goodness! -- they want a third. What do they put in these things? I am told that they are the perfect combination of everything everyone (else) loves about donuts. They are soft, but have a slight firmness for the bite. They are balanced in the sweetness. And for the glazed ones, they have the perfect amount of glaze. Selection is pretty nice. You have the old fashioned and contemporary popular ones. They have chocolate and glazed twists, and also a bacon maple donut. They also have croissants and cinnamon treats to go with your coffee. And the obligatory donuts with sprinkles -- even the one from the Simpsons. And in addition to donuts, they have breakfast sandwiches with eggs and meats. All around breakfast joint, and with a tiny bit of indoor seating even. Guess I'll be coming back again and again. read more

Hey! These donuts are just as good as the Kolb/Golf Links location! Really good donuts. Light, fluffy, not overly sweet, melts in your mouth, fresh...Yummy! Best in town. Remember, all Donut Wheels are independently owned and operated. Several years ago, the original owner sold each one off. None of them changed the name because it was too expensive to change the name and get new signs. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. My favorite donut bakery in Tucson! Their glazed donut holes are so good and always tasty along with their other donuts. Lately I've been getting my boba tea here on my way to work in the morning, since they're opened so early. Their iced fruit tea's with popping boba are always good and so is the Taro milk tea. This is a nice spot for an early morning boba tea fix if you need it. read more

Wasn't expecting much given the appearance of the place but wow, the donuts here are super fresh! I laughed when I read a previous review about the "moody" lady and I agree. I don't think it's a big deal that the lady isn't the nicest, because the donuts are so good! (She also perked up when a cop came to buy his donuts - haha!) I think the price is great, as well. It's about $0.85 per donut and you get a deal buying a dozen or more. I had the glazed donut - super moist and delicious. My mom had a chocolate coconut donut which was also moist. We came later in the morning (9ish) and they still had a great selection. I know they have several locations, so I'd probably return again to try another of their locations. read more

Disclaimer: I have not set foot inside Donut Wheel. I can't tell you anything about the store front itself, but I WILL rave about the utter deliciousness that is their donuts. Since coming to AZ, I realized how strong of a presence Dunkin Donuts is. I've pretty much only had Dunkin' since coming to Tucson and have not had anything else until my office was gifted two huge delicious boxes of regular glazed and chocolate glazed donuts. And they were SO TASTY. The donuts are light and fluffy and so good. What I notice from the huge chains is if you don't eat them right away, they dry out SUPER fast and they lose their flavor. Not so much with Donut Wheel! I couldn't try one until a few hours after we got them, but they tasted as if they were fresh from the oven! I had another one the next day and their texture and fluffiness was pretty much the same. So awesome. I'm so glad that Donut Wheels are not too close to me, otherwise I would have gained 10492072398 pounds already. I could seriously eat more than one easily. That's how good they are! read more

After several experiences at the Rancho Sahuarita Dunkin' Donuts that left me frustrated with their lack of customer service and fresh donuts (they are made elsewhere and shipped to the store), I drove up the I-19 to Donut Wheel. This was the best decision I have made in a while, as the staff was extremely friendly and they make truly excellent donuts. I am a fan of a classic chocolate frosted donut, but they have plenty of choices. Glazed, sugar covered, Boston Creme, jelly (multiple flavors!), long johns and more. All of them are airy, flavorful and satisfying. The glazed even has a hint of vanilla in it. Highly recommended! read more

I've always had a great experience here, awesome donuts, amazing breakfast sandwiches, and even better customer service...except for today. There was an older lady behind the counter and although there was no one else in the shop, she seemed really annoyed at having to help me. She was rude when I was ordering, and then when I put out my hand to accept my change, she put it on the counter and walked away. I will still come back because I like their donuts and sandwiches that much, but I highly recommend that this doesn't become the norm for their customer service. The lady who runs the place - I think she is Thai or Cambodian or something like that - sometimes retains a cultural reservation that we may think of as off-putting or rude customer service...but she is very friendly and appreciative (though still a sales barracuda) as you get to know her. It takes YOUR effort. But the donuts make it all worthwhile. This is Carb Nirvana. All the varieties I've had there are beyond outstanding and I will NOT tell you my favorite because then you will try that kind and I will have created my own competition to deplete the inventory when I go in.
