We ate nearby this place previously and decided to try it next time we wanted some sushi. Unfortunately this is the only time as we won't be returning. Upon entering we all smelled something really off putting but we decided to stay as the place was actually fairly busy so we figured something must be good. But service was awfully slow, and the waitress seemed like she could have cared less. To top it off, the food took forever to arrive. My boyfriend's son got his food first and was basically finished when the rest of our food arrived. I got the San Francisco and Rock & Roll special rolls. I don't know why people enjoy the food here but it was some of the worst sushi I've ever eaten. The rice tasted stale and the sauces they put on were so overpowering. The overall look and feel of the place seemed run down. Maybe when this place first opened it was good but not anymore. The sushi chefs out front looked like (and moved like) zombies and took forever to make the food. They seemed like they would rather be anywhere but there. Tucson lacks good sushi in general but there are way better places than this. Avoid and try elsewhere. read more

AYCE sushi for $31 per person seemed too good to be true, and I fear that it was. The vibes are casual, the waitstaff was friendly, but the chefs had no sense of urgency putting together my order. My partner nearly finished his plate before mine. The menu has a good mix of nigiri, hand rolls, maki, and specialty rolls. The quality of fish was just okay to me and it seemed like a lot of their menu items were fried or seared. We came on a busy Friday evening. We ordered off of the AYCE menu: quail egg starters, ikura, and a few rolls. The eggs were very tasty and salty but it did take them a hour to make it because they had to hand make each one. The rolls were good, but not particularly memorable. The ikura was a great deal and the portions were more than generous. The service was slow, but there were lots of tables and our order of 24 eggs and a few rolls was huge. As for the ambience, it is decent with somewhat loud music and a movie playing in the background. Overall, it was pricy but well worth it if you have the appetite. read more

Great food, slow service, solid place. As someone who enjoys sushi often there are a couple things I'll say. Dont get the California roll... it's not a normal California roll it's a stick of imitation crab in rice (not even mashed up) The other thing I'll say is avoid the albacore. I visited IOU Sushi while on the prowl for an AYCE sushi to stuff my face with. To my delight, this place is affordable and tasty! The AYCE menu is expansive and it felt like no matter what I asked for, it was all great food. The staff was surprisingly laid back and friendly for being a busy evening, and I really enjoyed my meal thanks to the hospitality. Wait staff was quick to deliver my order and chefs (visible from dining room) worked with purpose. The restaurant itself is in a good area of town and the interior was orderly and clean. The center-back of the dining room is a sushi bar where you can watch the chefs dismay as they read over and prepare your 15 item AYCE order. My one judgment would be the confused decor. I've eaten at IOU Sushi several times and usually enjoy the food, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Tonight during all-you-can-eat, I apparently mispronounced the Kaun roll when making my order. The waiter that took my order spoke to one of the sushi chefs about it apparently, because the sushi chef erupted into laughter and exclaimed "they're stupid!" - speaking louder than the rest of the diners in the room. The room was a little quiet after that. A correction would have been fine, but mocking a customer (especially so publically) is never acceptable. Unfortunately this isn't the first time I've had issues with the staff here. There is a past experience involving a sushi cook complaining about customers waiting for their food, also being a loudmouth about it. This is an all you can eat sushi. Great location and vibes! I tried the pohnpei and dragon roll that was torched! They also have an amazing teriyaki chicken for the ones that don't want sushi. The appetizers are so very yummy I had the tuna appetizer and the sauce was amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the place is immaculate clean. Prices are fair! We came here last night and tried the All You Can Eat Sushi. They close at 9pm, and last call is 8:30pm to place an order. You have to have 6 pieces or less left in order to place a new order, to reduce food waste. They only had 1 cold sake option so we shared 2 large bottles of this and didn't really feel the alcohol. It was decent, just wish it had been colder. There was also an obnoxious fly which kept flying around our table and did land on the Tomago Nigiri so we didn't eat those. Service was friendly. I usually order the same variation of sushi each time I eat out so this time I wanted to try all the nigiri options and a couple new rolls. here's the deal, i've gone here at least monthly for the last few years. I think the sushi is delicious and very affordable for all you can eat. HOWEVER, they consistently have slow and mediocre at best service along with zero ambiance. HEAR ME OUT......Appetizer were OK but sushi was BAD the taste was NOT IT....The service was also bad, took for ever and kept forgetting about things we asked for. Sushi is fine, their dinner/lunch surf special is my go to. The Selena hand roll and the spicy tuna are good- zero complaints. The three stars are for the service issues. Every time I go it's like there's zero sense of urgency but tonight was definitely the worst service I've ever had here. Ordered green tea, got regular tea. Had to wait 15 minutes before someone stopped by to even get that corrected. Ordered miso soup, the order wasn't put in. Got that 25 mins later. The sushi order took 35 mins to get and they didn't even drop off the soy sauce/ginger and wasabi. I had to ask for it and was told "that might be a problem because we are all out of clean dishes" For a place with ZERO clean dishes, the staff had zero sense of urgency. None whatsoever. I then heard a vegetarian at the table next to be told that they are "all out of vegetables right now." Yeah. Let all this sink in. I think this is worthy of one star but most of the time it's decent- not excellent, not amazing- but decent. read more

Best ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi is, no bullsh*t, Iou Sushi 111 in the strip mall by Home Depot on Oracle. It's been our place for years. Generous cuts of fish and, while they don't "fill you up" on rice, they do have a charge for more than 6 pieces left so just order respectfully. We destroy 20 pieces of yellowtail before we even get started on our meal and they love it. Absolutely sushi-quality fish, generously and flavorfully served, with all sorts of creative rolls and their chefs really seem to love working there. I used to come here once upon a time. After a few bad experiences, I wrote it off completely. Lately a few friends had mentioned the good experiences that they had, so I came on yelp to check out the reviews. They were mixed. Checked Google out, much more positive than negative. I had lunch time free so I figured I'd check it out. It was night and day from where they were three years ago. Is it bright and sparkling new? No. But it's clean. The staff are incredibly friendly. Are they chatty? Sure. But they got their job done and I felt incredibly taken care of. My order got taken and my drink never went empty. The food came out at a steady pace at the end of what appeared to be a busy lunch. I got out in under an hour and had a delicious meal. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. We went in today, our cashier's name was Melina but our server was different she was nice she was a blond girl with 2 pig tails in her hair. Anyways the point of me describing who our server in compared to Melina the cashier is. Melina got our split payment incorrect twice, she had a terrible attitude walking around the store coming from the outside to the side of the door speaking to the sushi chef throwing F bombs, complaining about someone not whipping the counter and it's gross, she had a terrible angry look on her face and didn't smile. We were literally in the corner of the room at a booth and we can hear her everywhere just throwing F Bombs and complaining about the store. It's clear she doesn't like her job. Our server was great though, we didn't catch her name but she was nice. Only thing we weren't to happy about was she served us DIRTY cups so we just asked for straws instead because we didn't want to be Karen's. Miso soup and pork dumplings were great. The edamame came out super late instead of with our appetizers and it defeated the purpose of us 3 having our own snack to munch on before the Entree was served. I really thought I had written a review for IOU, I have gone here a lot. So here's the scoop the good, the funky, and the great. The good is there is plenty of parking, the bathrooms are clean, and they have booths. The funky is a shit ton of decorations for all seasons and a tree decorated as well, the lighting is harsh fluorescent. IOU Sushi IV is the place for all you can eat sushi. A clean interior with friendly staff a large bright windows make this restaurant feel homey. The dinner menu offers their more high end sushi rolls, but whether you dine for lunch or dinner you are able to custom order your own rolls and hand rolls, just write down what you want and they will make it. I love that they make a nice tempura sweet potato which I put in a roll with avocado and cucumber. I haven't tried much else off the menu than sushi and tea, what can I say, I go there with an intention. And based on how often I go, you should already know, it's five stars from me! read more
