My family really enjoys good sushi and had a friend recommend. the rice was awful and distracting both in texture and flavor. the fish was okay but not that really fresh fish that makes sushi so good. put the two together and you are in for a very mediocre experience. Kazoku is one of the better sushi spots on Speedway. Big pieces of fish, probably one of the better places for white toro and also nigiri overall. Nice paintings on the walls. The service was great. Also have dishes that are not available elsewhere. They have both Japanese and Korean meals in addition to sushi. For the green mussels, they have 3 per order not just two. The seafood dynamite was very flavorful and ordered rice on the side cause that sauce was rich and honestly could stand on its own. Very good dining experience every time. read more

Great! Their fans will tell you Kazoku does not disappoint. Yes, they have fans. Right when we walked into the quaint, comfortable restaurant, customers walking out told us we were in for a treat. The friendly staff sat us quickly and helped us select an order than came out quickly. I ordered a chef's choice nigiri plate that was fresh and clean. The rice was a little stiffer than I prefer, but would absolutely prefer ideal fish than rice, and at Kazoku, that was certainly the case. Lunch was amazing today! I am a huge fan of hand rolls and this restaurant can make one out of any roll they have on their menu. I got a salmon skin hand roll and sunset hand roll. Just fantastic combo of sauces, fish and rice. The squid salad here has a very tasty sauce and the cucumbers are perfectly pickled. The service is incredibly fast and super friendly. The only thing to complain about is the cleanliness of the restaurant. I used to come here very often many years ago when it was under different management and it was much cleaner. I went for a solo lunch during the week so it wasn't super busy, the service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Also to note, the prices of this place for the portions felt very fair. I wanted to try a few things so I got the crab puffs, shrimp shumai, and miso soup and all came out hot and tasted super fresh. I got a few different types of nigiri and the portion of fish is so generous I was so excited about the ratio of fish to rice, it was perfect! The fish was also so fresh! Decided on takeout sushi, so based on Yelp reviews gave Kazoku a try. Close to our hotel, fairly quick (30 minutes) and very fresh. Pretty much everything you need for takeout sushi! Rolls were excellent, sashimi was a nice variety (chefs choice), miso was good (but no discernible tofu in it which was a bit odd), and the had Kimchi as a side. Saw some reviews about good udon and that it was in the list for best udon in Tucson so decided to give it a try. Parking lot is small and can't accommodate everyone inside but luckily there was a spot left when we got there. I tried their lunch special udon and California roll for $10. Not only a good price, and a filling meal, but tasty as well. They also provide free miso soup as well. I also tried their rainbow roll, pretty good. And I tried the baked scallop roll. Very tasty and a little spicy . Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. Definitely a good place to try for sushi and udon. read more

Had dinner there on a Friday evening. No wait and seated right away. Service was amazing. Our drinks were never empty and all of the staff helped each other out - someone at our party asked for something and the staff over at the sushi bar heard it and asked for it before the server could even get over to there to pick it up! It was then immediately brought to our table. Food came out fairly fast and was very good. Didn't love the spicy tuna roll, but admittedly, I haven't found a really good one in Tucson yet! California rolls were great. Vegetable Gyoza was great and not something you always see on a menu. On our continuing tour of Tucson Sushi we opted for Kazoku. What really tipped it in their favor was some interesting appetizers. First we had the Honey Comb, no idea why it's called a honey comb as it doesn't look like honey or have honey it in. But it looked stunning, so much so we devoured it before I could get a photo, but the taste matched the look. I would recommend coming for that. Then we had the green mussels as everyone says you must try it. I'm not a fan of mussels but my wife is, that being said I like it and she loved it. Then we had a Crunch roll, everything was fresh and tasty. We got the mixed seafood dynamite, it was good, but I think I'll get the dynamite on sushi next time. We finished it off with a spicy Korean ramen that was tasty. The building is older, but not in disrepair. The service was fast and attentive. The prices are sushi prices but no where near the top.
