Right before coming here with a friend and having linner, I had spent a long weekend immersed in all things Korean at The Source in the OC. I was still wanting to keep that going, so when I saw that this was right around the corner from where my friend lives, I suggested we try this place. The service was nice, attentive, not helicopter-y. Banchan was basic but delish. We both ordered the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. I was sweating through it but it was soooo good. My friend loved hers as well. I would have this again but I would like to try the shi side of things next time as well as the seafood soft tofu soup and see if the 5 star will hold. I sling food & excellent hospitality in a nearby joint and after slinging all day I am so blessed to be able to grab an amazing roll & cocktail after work or a Bento box between shifts. What? You want suggestions?!? Sure! Now that I've been there twice I can do that. Surf and Turf specialty roll was sooo delicious with it's melt in your mouth rare beef & chimichurri mixed with shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, AND avocado wasabi this is stupid good. Like the good that makes your face go like a hyperawareness of your taste sense makes you forget that you have 4 other senses and there's nothing left in this world but your tongue and this Surf & Turf roll from Seoul Shi...like that. Get that for sure. Also if your there for lunch and you really should go there for lunch because they have these fanatically good Bento Boxes. And I may not seem like I know Bento BUUUT I know Bento. And THESE Bento boxes are flipping special. Like another level. You get so much food and you're so happy knowing you're going to get 2 meals out of this so you polish off the fresh leveled up sushi/salad/dumplings and then you hit the bulgogi and you think damn is this the best bulgogi you've ever consumed?!? And you think yes girl it is and do a little seated dance until you realize you're seated dancing over food again. But the environment invokes it. It's so bright and cool and the people who work there are so bright and cool because they know they serve delicious food and drink. And they are wicked funny and great people so be nice. Or I'll kick you. Anyways if I take photos of said food and drink it's pretty damn special because traditionally I usually only take photos of food I make. Enjoy friends!! I came here for lunch with a friend and loved the Bento Box lunch option. I substituted the pork gyoza for edamame and chose the tuna sushi and gaibi. I'm obsessed with their salad dressing--it's absolutely delicious. The gaibi was incredibly flavorful, and I liked that the meal came with a separate bowl of rice. While $25 is a bit pricey for lunch, the portion sizes definitely made up for it. The meal was very filling, and I felt like I got good value overall. The only thing I didn't love was the tuna sushi. Unfortunately, it was very fatty. I can usually cut sushi pieces apart easily with my chopsticks, but these were difficult to cut through. Tried this tonight and was pleasantly surprised. We had the surf and turf sushi roll. It was outstanding. Also the dragon and tiger sushi rolls. They were delicious! The servise was very good. Prices were good and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate. I can for sure see myself returning here and of course would recommend it to others. read more

4.5 bumped to a 5. If you're looking for some authentic Korean dishes that are hard to find elsewhere, especially ones that involve sashimi/raw fish or crab this is the place to go! I tried their sea bream sushi and it was quite good. I will come back to try things like the Hwedupbap. I had the seafood tofu soup. It has an authentic taste to it - it could have a stronger flavor but I understand the masses may not enjoy a super funky flavor. My partner got the spicy chicken bulgogi and it tasted like a home cooked dish. If only for a hot second, I saw the cutest old lady cooking in the back! Home cooking??? I am definitely coming back! I had their lunch bento box. I thought it was a great deal and I left the restaurant very very full. I was especially impressed with their salad dressing and their salmon sashimi. Next time I eat here, I will have to try the nigiris! Second of all the service is terrible, from the annoying 1800s retro music in a SUSHI restaurant but also the bigger white girl was just being so rude the whole time to me and my fiancé. First time trying this place and my favorite was their spicy marinated crab, this item isn't always on Korean restaurant's menus. I'll definitely be returning for them, so delicious! Also enjoyed their bone in short rib, spicy bulgogi, some sushi. I wasn't a huge fan of their oysters, thought the choice of sauce and garnishes can improve. We tried an array of Korean dishes and sushi on our visit, and were impressed with both! We started with fried Pork Dumplings and Japchae. The dumplings were good, but the Japchae was much better. The dish was quite large -- it would be good to share among several people or have it as an entree. The mix of noodles, mushrooms, vegetables and meat was delicious, and the mushrooms in particular carried the flavors well. We also got Bulgogi, which came with rice and miso soup, the Chao Chao Roll, and the Reverse Rainbow Roll. The sushi rolls were great. I always love when places have few unique house specials; Seoul + Shi delivers on that front! The Chao Chao Roll was mildly spicy, with fresh, smooth fish, and a perfect pop of acid from the lemon. The Reverse Rainbow Roll was excellent as well. Both rolls were lightly sauced with ponzu, which I found to be lovely without any additional soy sauce or other dips. I absolutely want to try more of their specialty rolls! We definitely over-ordered because we were excited, but the leftovers we took home were still great the next day. read more

We were invited to the soft opening of SEOUL + SHI, owned by the same amazing folks behind Kotu (one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots). We weren't sure what to expect, but it was absolutely fantastic! We got to sample a generous selection from their menu, and everything was delicious. The sushi was incredibly fresh with beautiful presentation. The tofu soup was a standout, my friends loved it! It comes out sizzling hot, so be careful and let it cool for a few minutes before digging in. The restaurant is just a few doors down from Dickman's Meats on Oracle. For a soft opening, the place ran like a well-oiled machine. The space is open and clean, and the sushi bar tucked in the back corner adds a nice touch. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon. Definitely make an effort to try them out, you won't be disappointed! read more

The sushi was delicious!! My first time visiting Seoul Shi and I really enjoyed the Surf and Turf roll flavors stacked for days! The Tiger roll was also delicious. I love Kotu, and now I love Seoul + Shi. The name comes from Korean traditional dishes, such as a braised fish or other dishes in the menu, plus Japanese sushi. Omg! A wonderful dinner with well seasoned and flavored dishes. Our orders tonight included the seafood pancake, the spicy pork bulgogi, Tiger roll and the spicy braised black cod. While they are known for their sushi... the braised black cod entree was the table favorite as I have not had cod flavored and tasted so delicious before (or for that matter radishes served with the cod that have tasted so good). Of note, the cod does have bones ... which I gladly picked out. Added bonus were the complimentary soup and salad that come with entrees... my dining partner does not do salad but ended up wiping clean their salad plate. We enjoy dining at their sister restaurant Kotu... but we appreciated how the same dishes were seasoned differently (ex pork bulgogi or the fish cakes) as well as options for a whole new menu to explore. Service was attentive. The space was sleek and cozy. Lots of parking available. Definitely will return to try out more of the menu... however our big challenge is the future is having to pick between the two restaurants as they both have such delicious food! read more

I got some takeout here today for lunch for two. I ordered a Gangjung Chicken ($13), a Marinated Salmon Dupbab ($28), and a Bento Box with sushi and LA Galbi ($25). Everything was great, especially the dupbab and the bento box, which came with all kinds of goodies. Prices are high. I didn't order in advance, so I had to wait 25 minutes for my food order. The beef bulgogi was melt in your mouth, the roll was incredible, the calamari was a regret. The breading looked like an onion ring, and it was like chewing on a car tire. So get everything else, except that. The service was fairly quick, and the appetizers did not come out first. Our server was super nice, and seemed knowledgeable about the menu. I decided to give this place a try since it was open late (a big plus for Tucson) and they also own Kogu BBQ which I love. Since we went in at 8:30 it was definitely quiet. There were two other people at the sushi bar finishing up and we were seated at a booth. Everything is clean and fresh and inviting. The waitress welcomed us and explained to us that a few items were not available and they were not all branded yet since they are waiting for more merchandise to come in so the Kogu logo was on their shirts. She took our order and brought us some kimchi, marinated cucumbers and fish cakes. All were so fresh and delicious. We ordered an inside out rainbow roll and a sweet salmon roll. The sweet salmon roll stole the show. It was so unique and delicious, especially with the combination of fresh mango, and a mango and eel sauce finish. We never felt rushed like they wanted to close early or anything like that. They have standard sushi and sashimi or their specialty rolls. Next time I would like to try some soups as well.
