Amazing little Korean Restaurant in Midtown. Located off Speedway near Alvernon, it is a tight turn to get into with parking on sides of building. They fill quick due to the size, so consider a reservation or come early. Inside there are about 20 tables for small and larger groups, a small bar area and some side enclosed seating. The staff are very friendly and this is an UPBEAT and somewhat Formal feeling restaurant, but the vibe has a hint of K-Pop thanks to the TV screens with music and other Korean programing. I ordered the pork bulgogi combo #5 & the pork kalbi ribs. The combo looked great and was a good portion of food. The ribs were good, a little saucier than I'd like, and REALLY spicy, which somehow I'd missed in the description. The reviews of this place being older is correct, but the food and service are excellent. From what I saw online they've been run by the same family since 1985. I called in for a reservation for 10 at 6 PM. They seemed backed up so we waited a bit longer than I would have thought to get seated. This wasn't a problem as I think they have a smaller staff. Everyone always gets the beef bulgogi in Korean restaurants but at Korea House, the samgyeopsal (marinated pork bbq) is delicious, and is a must try. Personally, I always order a soft tofu soup at Korean places. At this place they have a seafood one and vegetarian variety. It's great you can choose the spice level. The portions are huge and you know you'll have a filling meal. For dessert, the patbingsu they have here is an interesting concoction, worth a try. The service may seem sparse, but all the staff are actually very attentive, especially with refilling the drinks. I will say that the food is flavorful, however I was a bit disappointed with the beef bulgogi and banchan (or side dishes). The sides were very basic, cucumber, bean sprouts (which were good), and potatoes. I guess I am used to more variety in my banchan. The bulgogi was chopped super large. I think if you are not used to or haven't had Korean food that isn't so watered down this place may suit your fancy. But if you have ever lived in Korea or been to places that put their all into serving Korean dishes - I'd say pass. To be fair, the experience may be different if I ate in. I had mine delivered. However, we made the decision to stop here for lunch and was it the best decision ever! This place seemed to newly renovated, clean, and friendly service. We did think it was a bit quiet in the restaurant but we enjoyed the quietness. The food was the MVP OF THE SHOW. My partner got ribs which I am not a very big fan of and let me tell you those ribs where the BEST pork ribs i've ever had. Beware the pork ribs are SPICY! if you don't eat spice this is not a good option for you. The house soup I was a bit worried to try just because of the color, but it was my second favorite thing I had. I could eat an entire bowl. If you have ever had Caldo de Papa it taste very similar. First Impressions are it's a small tidy location. Explained to the staff this was my first experience with Korean Cuisine. They told me some of the history of the restaurant and offered to assist with menu choices. They allowed me plenty of time to decide and were available at a glance. The meal was delicious and a change from my normal fare. I would recommend this restaurant for any one looking for a change and a pleasant experience. My wife and I ate here during our January 2025 visit to Tucson. We ate here based on Yelp reviews but were very disappointed. For an appetizer we shared the fried Mandoo. These were ok but nothing special. For her main course my wife had the jajangmyeon. This was supposed to have pork and vegetables but seemed just like alot of noodles with a bland dark brown sauce. I had the Pork Balgogi. This was spicy which it was supposed to be but the flavor was not to my liking. There was one server there and he was super nice and had a fun personality. I ordered Tteokboki and a rice dish with 3 different entrees. Everything was cooked great, except for the bulgogi was a little cold and could use a little more caramelization. The fried shrimp was the star of the show because of the size and its amazing flavor.
