Our companions opted for the spicy broth versions and really enjoyed the heat. I went for the Taiwan BBQ with pork and mung bean noodles. The prices seemed a little hefty, but the portions were absolutely huge. They do a great job of packaging up your leftovers and mine was enough for lunch the next day. Dinner takes a while here. The root vegetables take a long time to cook. This was a good thing for us, as we were not in a hurry and a leisurely dinner was what we were looking for. Not a great place if you are in a hurry, so give yourself time. I really liked the idea that you really end up with a well-rounded meal. There are so many different vegetables provided in the standard serving, and even a couple of shrimp came with the broth. This place definitely merits a 2nd visit, it's really a lot of fun. I always try to swing by here for dinner at least once whenever I am in Tucson. The food is wonderful and the prices are really great. The last time I was here we ordered the fresh seafood plate, which was an amazing bargain for what you get. The service is friendly and the ambiance is "hot pot", meaning busy but not rushed at all. I enjoyed most of the dishes I have tried here. My favorites are the thick handmade fresh Sesame Green Onion Pancakes (15 min prep time) with the sauces from the sauce bar and the 5 Spice Tofu & Seaweed salad. Last time my sesame green onion was undercooked with some raw dough taste but other times it was excellent. For vegetarian hotpot they have a curry broth and a veggie broth, I like the curry better as the veggie one was pretty bland and overall prefer the vegetarian hot pot flavors and experience at Pot Whale. The popcorn chicken was also amazing, with the perfect mix of crispiness, spice, and that signature Taiwanese herby flavor. I also tried the passionfruit green tea with boba, and it might be one of the best fruit teas in Tucson--refreshing, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. But what really stood out was the service. I have wanted to try this for a while, but have been unlucky they have been closed for one reason or another each time I was in the area. I didn't really know what to order, but settled on the fried dumplings (10) and the House Hot Pot with pork and a side of soy egg. I was able to split the dumplings with my friend. There were very good and I appreciated the dipping sauce. The Hot Pot was ok until the server suggested adding some soy and sesame oil. I also chose to add some garlic. It really kicked up the flavor and was tasty. My friend got the Chicken Herb Soup and he really enjoyed it. When I come back, I am going to try it. The server was very helpful. He explained the options, and how it all worked. He came back several times to fill out drinks and make sure were enjoying our experience. While the setup was for a strip mall, the decor was not old and out-dated. It felt new and refreshed. It is a great place for a quick lunch bite. read more

It happened while we had friends visiting from out of state--we decided on Taiwanese-style hot pot, and what a wonderful dinner it was. From the great appetizers and drinks to the rich, comforting soups, everything was spot on. Our server, CoCo, was attentive and welcoming, and the restaurant was exceptionally clean. We highly recommend the Iced Smoked Plum Juice; you'll never forget the balance of plum sweetness and smoky fragrance. The hot Oolong tea was also equally refreshing. We tried the Chief's recommendation - Jiao-Hou Jiao-Hou, the numbing pepper sauce with smoked tofu, beef shank, seaweed... absolutely remarkable! 5-Spice Popcorn Chicken was also a fantastic choice, especially with an icy cold drink. We ordered 2 Hot Pots, a traditional Chicken Herbal Pot and the Taiwanese BBQ Sauce (Sha-Chai) Pot; we thought we were visiting Taipei. From the time that we entered the nicely decorated entrance and were seated until the time we left, all was perfection. Our server, Andrew, was a delight! He was so welcoming and informative. Plus, he tended to our needs without being asked. While picking up a family friend in Tucson we decided to stop in and try out e-HotPot. We were short on time so we chose a few appetizers and the teriyaki chicken vs hot pot. We were immediately greeted and the waiter was very friendly. I did notice we were the only ones dining, around 1pm. All of the tables have a burner at each seat for each person to make their own custom hot pot meal, which I would love to try at some point. They also have a small self serve bar with sauces, garlic, jalepenos, vinegars and other tasty add ons. We chose the Taiwan sausage, the popcorn chicken and teriyaki chicken. The Taiwan sausage is a deep fried pork sausage and it is paired with fresh thin sliced garlic. It has a sweet and savory taste that pairs well with the garlic. The popcorn chicken is very tender and in a light crispy coating. It doesn't have a ton of flavor but tastes lovely lightly dipped in soy sauce. My favorite was the classic chicken teriyaki. It is made with tender rib meat and the teriyaki glaze is absolutely delicious! Throughout our dining experience our waiter checked on us often, refilled our water consistently and was overall very friendly. For desert he brought us an orange that was uniquely sliced where you push the bottom up and the orange pops up to eat. Using the pick inside you gently pull each slice out perfectly... genius!! They also brought us chocolate fortune cookies. I did use their restroom while I was there and it was VERY nice. Incredibly clean, has a large sliding door, and the option for a hand dryer or paper towels. When I am in Tucson next I would ABSOLUTELY eat here again. Decided to try this place after going to a football game my son and I do love Asian food. And we got there. There was only two other people there eating. It was very quiet and empty. Each table had their own burners on them kind of reminded me of like the melting pot. The menu was not as attractive as I would've hoped. We had the fried dumplings as an appetizer which were really good and I was craving soup, but didn't want to take the time to make my own and wait for it to cook as that is the main concept of this place I had the spicy noodle beef soup. The picture looks fantastic. It smelled great however it was just beef broth, rice noodles, couple of bok choy and an egg. The flavor was bland. It was almost too spicy to enjoy. My son took me here today for a mid-afternoon bite. We shared the vegetarian dumplings-delicious and a good amount of them as well. I had the cold sesame paste noodles with chicken and he had the same dish but with tofu. It was so good and absolutely hit the spot. I added some cilantro, jalapeños and green onions as well as chili sauce and fish sauce. We both ate every bite and enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait to try some of the other dishes. The service was prompt and friendly and the decor was really nice. This is my first hotpot experience in over two years and eHotPot was really good, the meal was so comforting. I ordered the spice tofu and seaweed to start, the hot & spicy hot pot (w/added protein - chicken) for dinner and lychee shaved ice for dessert. I did not like the spice tofu and seaweed appetizer at all. I had no idea that this was served cold and I very rarely eat Asian dishes that are served cold. I also didn't appreciate the texture of the tofu, which I thought was a bit rubbery. The broth was borderline too spicy for me, but it had the right amount of saltiness to not be made bland by the chicken and all the added items. The added items: Napa Cabbage, sweet corn, shiitake mushroom, pork meat ball, Japanese pumpkin, beef ball, tomatoes, fresh tofu, fish cake, head on shrimps, quail eggs, fried tofu, fish tempura, lotus, and finally, taro. The slices of pumpkin, taro and lotus were really huge. I don't eat boiled taro or lotus root, so I skipped eating them. In hindsight, I should have skipped the chicken and asked to substitute the taro and lotus, maybe for more mushrooms and napa cabbage. I have also never had quail eggs, so I let mine boil in the broth for a little while, unsure of the flavor. I can safely say that I don't need to have quail eggs anymore. I eat chicken eggs and didn't think quail's eggs would be that different, but I didn't like them. The portions here are very large and I guess I should have applied that knowledge to the dessert as well, but my eyes overestimated what my stomach could handle. I had zero room for my lychee shaved ice. I really didn't know why I assumed the dessert would be small, because it was the size of a salad plate! It was super refreshing, sweet and creamy (condensed milk), but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. It was a sad state of affairs to leave my dessert behind. read more

Ever since leaving Taiwan, I've been looking for a quality hot pot place in America and this place gets the job done. They were good for large groups even though you can't scoot the tables together because they all have permanent hot pot stoves on them. They have a great selection of hot pot flavors including Chinese BBQ, Curry, and Seafood. Even though it's not an all you can eat restaurant, the food is more than enough to have left overs afterwards. The sauce bar for dipping your hot pot items in is very extensive and includes hot chili sauce and ShaCha sauce which shows that this is as authentic as it gets! The only disappointment part was the Taiwanese shaved ice for dessert which ended up being a bit more icy then anticipated. The fruit flavors were great though! Her chicken was really good. Tender. The portions were hefty. We saved a bit in my cooler to give to my brother's German Shepherd the next day when we arrived in New Mexico. Service was great.
